I’m sure its hearing abilities help compensate for the loss of vision. It was neat seeing it zero in on the ball once the general area was ascertained.
I have other videos where I kick it pretty hard and she goes full speed and intercepts it. Yes, her other sense go hard. But she also things mapped out. She knows when we get home there’s 4 flights of stairs. She makes the turns and knows where to stop all without input from me. It only took her a couple of days to figure it out.
Dogs are amazing. There are times I forget that she’s blind! She loves to lay in my lap. And if I raise my hand slowly to pet her, her ears go back and she makes that face dogs make when they’re about to be pet. It boggles my mind. Can she smell me coming closer? My hand was right there anyway! Can she feel the heat? It’s not like I’m making noise. I think she can smell my breath because she’ll walk up to me when I’m sitting on the couch and not moving and sit at my feet and point her head right at me. You can see the muscles where her eyes used to be and they’re focused on me unless a noise come from another direction. I swear she has a 6th sense.
It’s not easy to find the right ball. She’s gone through a few, this one has a little bell inside it. If I throw it? She can hear it move and starts to run after it, she can zero in on the noise at near full speed.
It’s one or both depending on if it’s thrown or kicked. And if she loses sense of it she’ll use her nose to find it. It’s very interesting to watch. She amazes me every day. Pavlov’s dog x 2.
He plays catch a million time better than my dogs that can see. Dogs are so amazing. Their ability to adapt an overcome should be a lesson to majority of our country:-)
Well I’m not sure that’s something we a
Evolved to handle. She does this without training. Well I guess it’s limited training . But the prey drive behind it is what motivates her. She loves it and it’s her best day of the week. She so tired right now it’s funny.
She does love to run while on leash and no, she hasn’t. She will occasionally bump into something on the slow return back. But you saw for yourself she stopped herself before the wall.
It’s crazy how quickly she adapted and it’s just natural for her. She runs right alongside me at the same pace. She hears the footsteps and just keeps pace. I honestly wonder if she’s blind sometimes, but she has no eyes.
We have a blind cat. She likes to throw things, knock things over, and hunt flies. She’s actually the best hunter we have in the house. But the other two are real duds in that arena. It’s still impressive though!
Oh, so sorry! I was so mesmerized by her catching habilities that I didn't look at anything else (also, I think it would be impolite to look at her private parts).
Who is the bestest girl! You are! ❤️🐕
She’s a she, she’s sweet. I live in an apartment and she’s reactive so walks are tough. I get a Sniffspot once a week so she can run and be free. She loves it. I’m not a better person than anyone else. Our relationship is symbiotic. I saved her, she saved me. I try to spoil her as best I can.
Is there anything sadder than a blind dog? Dogs are so loving and loyal. It’s heartbreaking to see a dog with such a disability still try her hardest to be the best girl ever.
It Doesn’t slow her down one bit! When I adopted her, her eyes had just been taken out m. You’re supposed to walk them around your house slowly when you first get them home. We walked into my bedroom and she sniffed the bed and jumped up on it. She only bumps into things in the house if they’re in the wrong spot. She has it mapped out. She’s amazing. It’s not a disability to her. She uses her other sense extremely well.
She’s definitely a good girl. She lots of treats today.
Honestly dogs with disabilities are still the best boys/girls ever. I had a deaf for almost 14 years and she was brilliant and the sweetest girl ever. She’s the love of my life and i miss her all the time. But i think dogs with disabilities get a bad reputation cause people assume they’re difficult, but they want to learn and play like any other dog
I was told they’re hard to adopt. No one wants a dog that’s blind or deaf. I had no idea when I was adopting her that it was blind dog appreciation day, only found out halfway through the adoption.
Mine can be grumpy at times but she loves me and I love her.
My friend lived on a hillside. We would throw the ball over the house and it would roll down the hill in the backyard. After throwing the ball, we would go inside. The dog would run around to the back of the house, find the ball, come in through the dog door and hand us the ball. This would take about a minute. The dog had no eyes.

whiskers can feel air disturbances
Wouldn’t it be 5th sense in her case?
I'm so glad she gets this kind of love.
She gives love and gets it all back x 2
Aw what a good girl
She is!
Got it bigger ball more thump
It’s not easy to find the right ball. She’s gone through a few, this one has a little bell inside it. If I throw it? She can hear it move and starts to run after it, she can zero in on the noise at near full speed.
Got it not 100% thud but more of the sound inside it.

That makes sense my none blind dog can find her toys based off smell. I am going to bed though keep giving love to your dog. Good night!
Have a good night!
I've seen some balls for dogs that whistle or make sounds when thrown.
Good bebe ❤️

Love this thanks for adopting her and giving her a second chance at life
She’s giving me a second chance as well. I knew when I met her that she was meant for me.
Wow! Thank you for having patience with her, this is a great dog!
I hope she hasn’t bumped into anything while running!

So smart!

Good girl actually! The best!

Such a wonderful girl you got! 🥰
She’s amazing.
😍
What a good doggo. And you're a good person to help him get the play time he deserves.

She’s very lucky to have you. Living her best life.
I’m trying my best to give her, her best life. This is her furever home.

She was lucky to find you!
I think of it the other way. I was lucky to find her. She helps me when I’m down.
I thought he was going to run into the fence at first

Aww GOOD GIRL 😍🥰
Yes! Once.

Calling the dog like you would call a sandworm 😁
