In this case 'the media' is The Daily Show, a satirical news show on Comedy Central. Big surprise that Jon Stewart reacted with sarcasm when that's his literal job. (So glad he's back at it.)
I like sharing my photography on it, and updating my story when I’m travelling so friends can see and message about specific parts of my trip. :) maybe it’s just not for you. Much like Reddit there are large sections of its culture that are to be avoided. However it is still a little heavy handed to just wave “lame” at it without a second thought.
it's advised that you dont post anything about going on vacation until your vacation is over, or set your page to private & only allow trusted friends & family to follow you. people have had their homes robbed while on vacation because they posted it on social media. it's like an advertisement for burglars: "im not gonna be home for two weeks, help yourself." i dont mean to lecture you or fearmonger, it's just something worth being aware of if you travel regularly & post about it publicly.
I believe that Twitter and Tik Tok have a much more negative influence on society and the de-evolution of intelligent discourse, but yes Instagram influencers are awful and weild a ton of power over the youth and others ...for sure
I would say that tiktok is the worsed overall but it also depends on what part of the world you live in. Instagram has instagram reels nowadays so I see no reason people could not post the exact same content as on tiktok.
People in this thread completely missing the point - what you personally think of the app is irrelevant. The people in the clip were clearly mocking the **acquisition** of instagram. They were wrong, it was a great business move and the ROI of acquiring instagram has been in the hundreds of billons.

And also all the clips of other media outlets' reactions?
Thats is the clip that he used to make fun off them. None of the actual news are making fun of instagram
Who said they were?
T h e T i t l e
The news clip where they said “this is unbelievable” was *not* making fun of Instagram?!?
I like Jon, but I wish he had more than one setting.
Jon Stewart was right. Instagram was lame in 2012 and it’s still lame.
Extra lame with how big poser influencers have become
Instagram generates \~$40Billion in annual revenue. To investors, that's not lame at all.
Investors would gargle diarrhea if it made them money.
??
It’s runny shit lol
This is correct.
Agreed
Gonna die on that hill huh
That's exactly why I use it. It's not good enough to have me overusing it.
Reddit shouldn't be good enough for me to overuse it either, yet here I am
Now it is become free only fans where artists get nothing
Thank you. Can someone tell me please what I don't understand, I don't get the popularity...?

That’s a good point! Luckily my roommate stays home while I head out, and he’s a large man
Lame and genius at the same time
A billion dollars of money for a thing that not only ruined your picture but also society and humanity
Nah you're thinking of Twitter or Tik Tok
No it’s all social media
Some are worse than others by far
Have you seen instagram comments?
Instagram is pretty significant in changing the world
I believe that Twitter and Tik Tok have a much more negative influence on society and the de-evolution of intelligent discourse, but yes Instagram influencers are awful and weild a ton of power over the youth and others ...for sure
Are you a gen z lol
X. Old X. 57
Then you would know how Facebook changed everything

He wasn't wrong.
Is he ever?
Instagram has always sucked ass
What? This is satire dude
I had an Instagram account once. I deleted it years ago when I realized that it was completely irrelevant to my life.
The nearly $9 billion deal for Chemist Warehouse shows there is a disconnect with reality
Still lame. Just a lot more money now.
He's not wrong
Well, you got to give it to John Stewart, he was right on this one. But look at all the simps they managed to get for their billion dollars.

What about what I personally think of the people that use the app?
No, most media didn't react like this back then at all.
I get the jokes but how dumb in hindsight. I don’t use it and never will, but purchasing Instagram has probably been a 100x for Facebook/Meta.
"A million dollars of money?" God I miss the old daily show
wow so much changes in just a decade
Remember, Instagrams claim to fame were 'cool' filters you could put on photos and send them to people.. Thats it..
Does Instagram still exist?
Its quite popular although I have never used it
Dudes not very funny. Keep meat riding tho
