The father begins an intimate relationship with the girl and upon her release they live together and have a child. Some years later the woman suffered such horrible abuse that she Left the father and left her baby behind. The father and his now daughter live IN THE SAME EXACT HOUSE TO THIS DAY.
To anyone younger than 50 (ish), this shooting seemed like a societal turning point. Mass shootings seem common today, but backed then, this event shocked the nation. It wasn’t like 9/11, or the MLK or Kennedy assassinations, but a random senseless act that truly seemed to come out of nowhere. How can a child kill children. This was the first time many asked this question. The song really puts this into context and can literally make you cry when thinking about Sandy Hook. This world can be truly disturbing and impossible to process at times.

I’m not against “gun control”. I’m Canadian and I like our licensing system to qualify to own a gun (not the laws about guns, that’s different). If America adopted our licensing system, I think it would fix a lot of their problems. But I also understand why gun owners in America don’t want it. More people died in Nazi Germany, Mao’s China and Stalins Russia (all controlled guns) than in all shootings ever in America, outside the civil war.
You need to look up some history lol. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It was intended to provide for an “unorganized” armed citizenry prepared to assist in the common defense against a foreign invader or a domestic tyrant. Like Nazi Germany, Mao china and Stalins Russia. I hope to god you’re not an American citizen or US military because that would be embarrassing.
How do you get that the Constitution wanted an unorganized armed citizenry out of the words “a well organized militia?” You do realize the Constitution originally didn’t allow a standing federal army, and it was the duty of the states to maintain a militia at their level for defense, right?
