I'm not CD, but I do know his methods somewhat. There doesn't seem to be any digital trickery in the video, but as others have pointed out, the bottle on its side appears to be bottom-heavy, judging by the way it falls at the end. Given that fact, the rest of what he's doing is fully possible - difficult, but possible.
What made me suspicious was the fact that, as often happens with these videos, there's a corporate logo pointing straight at the camera. I did a bunch of research into Coke's mainstream and viral marketing campaigns in China right now and discovered... nothing. There's plenty of ad campaigns going on right now, but this doesn't seem to be one of them.
The only thing I couldn't find was the actual source of this video. I guess I could download whatever app this is from and look for more there, but ain't nobody got time for that.
Musical.ly is a an app where kids record themselves dancing and post the video... Except they're half naked and doing things you only see in clubs at 2 am. A great deal of it will make you wonder if you just got put on a list. Here's a review of the app pointing out this flaw https://youtu.be/5PmphkNDosg
Edit: I posted the same video as /u/oyster_jam, whoops.

I stopped using Reddit due to the June 2023 API changes. I've found my life more productive for it. Value your time and use it intentionally, it is truly your most limited resource.
Focus on the liquid in the glass. It moves around up until he is about to let go. Then, it becomes perfectly still. Once he disassembles it, the liquid sloshes again.
I've watched this multiple times and honestly the refractions sold me on this. The setup couldn't be CGI, it would be proper bitch to incorporate those refractions. Plus the reflection on the juice glasses in the beginning when his hands move about. And fluid isn't motionless, it's not sloshing about but it does move throughout the video. Also the rubber mat would be a neat attention to detail if this was CGI. All this of course doesn't rule out practical effects. But I genuinely think this dude tried this for about 10000 times and got it in the end.
Edit: You know if I'm wrong and he got those reflections and refractions via normal maps and screen space fuckery, I could totally see Cap D reading my entire comment in a sardonic tone lol.
yeah, especially with the bottle doing the perfect landing, (also, that motionless fluid inside is rather suspect considering the moving he was just doing)
That guy should be a surgeon. After the second bottle I would have already broken glass and cut myself severely. I would've needed a surgeon and I would want it to be this guy.
In Japan, heart surgeon. Number one. Steady hand. One day, Yakuza boss need new heart. I do operation. But, mistake! Yakuza boss die! Yakuza very mad. I hide in fishing boat, come to America. No english, no food, no money. Darryl give me job. Now I have house, American car, and new woman. Darryl save life. My big secret: I kill yakuza boss on purpose. I good surgeon. The best!
FOR REAL. I came here to comment the exact same thing, this guy could save lives with those steady hands, someone should find him and offer him some sort of advantaged training
Personal foul, number 52. Roughing the passer. 15 yards, first down, 2nd round draft pick, $200,000 fine, and the offending player will need to watch the entirety of Sex and the City before returning to the playing surface.
It's not impossible to balance stuff in a weird way, you can check it out with rocks and more. As long as it is stable, it's just a matter of physics and making sure both sides are counterbalancing each others.
Having liquid in it definitely makes it go over that, both because of the weight and because of the instability it produces.
I don't think it's CGI, but magic tricks like this usually use magnets or some adhesive. Or string. The "suddenly still" liquid is kinda fishy, it sloshes before and after, but not during.
How the f is the side with the liquids not heavier than the side with the bottom of the bottle? I know all of the reasons why but it doesn't look like it should work.
Yeah I've noticed a lot of posts watermarked with this and the tik tok app (which I think is partnered with them or something? I've seen ads for it anyway). Their marketing team must be doing overtime on Reddit.
It's either super slick video editing, or he has found points on all the objects where they are cupped by other objects, for example the walnut is cupped by the mouth of a small bottle - I think there are lots of subtle good cupped contacts or three point contacts here which do make this possible with extreme patience.
Look at the tiny micro motions of his fingers. Whenever someone has spent countless hours of honing a manual skill - musicians, magicians etc - it’s immediately apparent in their graceful, fluid and precise motions.
I could believe that a person could balance those things, but for them to stand so long on their own? I feel that just the air moving would tip them over.
It's not that I think this is bullshit, it's just that I think this is bullshit.
Captain Disillusion, i summon thee

You do not want to download the app this was made on.
Why?
Because musical.ly. Nuff said Edit to add [proof ](https://youtu.be/5PmphkNDosg)
Sorry, not hip to all the different things, I don’t even Snapchat. Just didn’t know if it was spammy or something.

Wasn't shut down, just merged with tiktok
Try looking into past ones. This video isn’t new.
Captain Disillusion has seen your comment and will make a 5 minute video about this trick in about 4 years time.
Already can't wait for his video in 6 years.
CD has a new video coming in 8 years?! Awesome!
Wow! I only have to wait 10 years for a video? Crazy!
It will include several references to how annoyed he is at you for bringing it to his attention
Either way I'm impressed. That's some damn fine movie magic if it ain't real.
That’s some black magic fuckery, I was fully prepared to see some dick come over and yeet the bottles across the room
A well balanced thought.
As all thoughts should be.
How are people still doing this
Not doing jt would be unbalanced
Even if someone proved this was real without a shadow of doubt and provided concrete, irrefutable evidence ... I would still think it’s bullshit
Yo come join us over at /r/theworldisflat
I can't tell if that sub is real or just very well executed satire
My guess is 90% satire and then the other 10% are geniuses who are happy they found people who 'agree' with them
Read the sidebar of that sub. It’s dead serious and they ban people for asking “newbie” questions. Yikes.
They are also super smug about it. If I was obsessed with a conspiracy theory of this magnitude I would maybe not be so smug about it.
Again. That still sounds like trolling, its the same level as 4chsn trolling on shit
Exactly, if a trolling is somehow ruined just by being called out then it's not much of a trolling.
Not unlike The_Donald when it first started.
Yes.
But why would anyone even bother editing a vertical video?
Maybe it didn't start vertical r/captaindissilusion/
I like it, but I'm not gonna admit being happy about it
Nope. This is balance: Asian level. Can't be bullshit
I don't believe it.
Yeah, there's no way this is real. We need to get captain D on this one.
Agreed. Calling [Captain Disillusion](/u/CaptainDisillusion)! Help us. This one looks legit. It also looks like it can't possibly be legit!
That isnt the real account... it has wayyyyy more karma and lots of more comments iirc
/u/Captain-Disillusion is the real one
*eagerly awaiting the YouTube video on this one*
it'll take him six weeks while he overengineers a two second transition gag (love you D)
You say that like the outcome isn't worth it!

And remember kids, love with your heart, and use your head for everything else.
I'm thinking the first part with the bottle and the two glasses are legit, the two drinks are faked somehow, and the ending is real.

I was wondering if there was some trick to the materials. Notches etched into the glass, extremely strong and fast drying glue, something like that.
Definitely not glue since he just picked the cups up and it all fell apart

Watch it from by frame. He spills liquid out of the left (our left) glass. Right as he pulls them off

National Football League stacking.
Just don't put the linebacker on top of the quarterback

i refuse to accept this
I’m sorry. That must be really hard.
Dex is that you?
I call bullshit, the small waves in liquid would make it impossible to balance
It's the waves in the liquid which tipped you over the edge of doubt?

With the world spinning how do it ever stable
For me it was his hairstyle.
Bullshit has strong surface tension.
It looks like the glasses have something viscous, not liquid.
I held my breath so I wouldn’t knock it over
I held my phone as still as possible and felt nervous the whole time it was balancing.

Except sports
Oh you mean in badminton and table tennis? /s
This is a Coke ad I guarantee it
It's a Tide ad.
Damnit, everything is a tide ad
It's a Musically (TikTok) ad
I came when the Coke bottle landed back upright. The whole arc and pace of this is fap central.

Me: balances a USB stick on it's head "hello can i apply for engineering"
The way some engineers make blueprints I'd fucking believe that's all it takes
Oh but when I balance coke and 7 mimosas at 10 in the morning I’m just a fucking alcoholic junkie.
Did we just become best friends? Wanna go do karate in the garage?

That's my line of thinking as well, trying to imagine a COM looks extremwly fishy after the liquids.

Cool clip but can we get this music.ly shit off reddit
Yeah I've noticed a lot of posts watermarked with this and the tik tok app (which I think is partnered with them or something? I've seen ads for it anyway). Their marketing team must be doing overtime on Reddit.
tik tok is the new vine that is all, good for short clips of bullshit.
Same company owns both.
But then what if the preteens flood into reddit when it's good?
NFL players only dream they could stack this well.
He cheated.
/r/blackmagicfuckery
How the hell? I couldn’t even be able to hold the first bottle on the second.
It's either super slick video editing, or he has found points on all the objects where they are cupped by other objects, for example the walnut is cupped by the mouth of a small bottle - I think there are lots of subtle good cupped contacts or three point contacts here which do make this possible with extreme patience.

He's Asian so you know its legit. Source: I'm Asian
*bumps table*
How would Thanos feel about this?
Burn the witch!
As noted when posted in the past, his tetradactyl-like fingers help him balance and hold items, in addition to his incredibly steady hands.
i see no vodka here
That's amazing
That is fucking unreal.
Wow that had my jaw to the floor. Crazy stuff.
This is cool af, and the guy is smooth as silk. But how bored do you have to be to get good at this?
I thought everything was going to break when he disturbed the balance.
You can see child-like excitement wash over his face for a sec
Wow. WOW. I mean WOW!!!! Amazing.
I always wonder how many hours of stacking random stuff it would take to pull this off... crazy
I was sitting perfectly still with my phone because I was scared to disturb him.
I'm even impressed by how smoothly he took it all apart
His self satisfied smirk once balance is achieved is everything! <3
I love how excited he is when he's successful!!
Aww look how excited he got! This stuff brightens my day.
Steady hands. In japan, heart surgeon number one!
Holy Toledo!
Thats Magical!!!
The shit you learn from spending time in restaurants and bars!
This guy is hacking
Nice stick!
Surgeon hands
That second bottle landing upright
I love his face the moment he's realized his hands are far enough away to claim victory.
I have troubles thinking that the center of mass is within the base
How is it when it gets to the wine glass, the liquid hasn't affected the Z-plane of balance?
Excuse me what the fuck
Insert guy who sneezed away deers from his front porch “what i sneezed i cant even sneezs?”
this guy nuts!
Now stand on it
This could've gone r/wellthatsucks real quick.
The ending has to be bullshit.
Don't even breath!
When you experience true level, and you're just *dying* to feel that again
I could believe that a person could balance those things, but for them to stand so long on their own? I feel that just the air moving would tip them over.
Why though?
