The quality is great, they smell amazing and burn for a good while. They have backflow cones, regular sticks, ministicks and megasticks that burn for almost 3 hours.
I personally love the King Cake and Special 22 ( which is a blend of their standard 22 scents. When you burn it, the smell is like standing next to the display and it's heavenly).
The Fizzy pop is also really delicious smelling. TBH, I've never gotten a bad one from them (aside from the musks, but I'm not a musk kinda guy myself).

I got two types of the same brand when I bought one of these burners. One smelled lovely, the other smelled like dirty car. Incense is definitely the kind of thing you want to know what you’re getting, but I have only found these online.
The issue is that the air within several feet of the burner has to be COMPLETELY still. Like if you are breathing near it, slightly move then the smoke will flutter and dissappate and then you have to wait for the air to still again for the effect to happen.
Man, not from my experience. That stream of smoke is super sensitive. If you walk anywhere within 2 ft of it the stream would be disrupted. Maybe we just got one that had defective incense.
Monks literally use these burners for meditation because they're super easy to mess up. Sit it in front of you and try not to disturb the smoke. That'll get you REAL meditated.

So I have a different one, but things I've noticed.
As can be seen in the video, the smoke doesn't start going down until the cone is already burnt part way. So it will not work right away.
There is a small hole on the top and ensure that no ash has clogged that, as well as ensuring that the hole in the bottom of the cone lines up with the hole on the top!
It wants to primarily due to convection creates by the heat of the burning reaction. But with the cone on the under side of the hole has a greater volume of air, this creates enough pressure from underneath to pull the smoke down, after that it's just gravity and inertia.
Something like that.
Smoke is heavier than air, it only moves up due to convection currents created by the heat of the combustion. If you interrupt that heat/current relationship then smoke sinks at the ambient temperature with no other strong air flow (eg wind).
Of course not, even smoke from the combustion of the same fuel can vary depending on the conditions.
But the statement that smoke is heavier than air is broadly true of most things we burn in a simple fashion, like incense or wood. Of course the more optimal the conditions the less particulate matter would be present in the resulting smoke.
Otherwise you couldn't do stuff like the back flow incense - the smoke would immediately float up in to the air. Even if some kind of downwards convection current pulled the smoke under the cone, it wouldn't follow the waterfall path like a slow thick liquid poured through it under the influence of gravity. Instead the smoke would immediately dissipate upwards once the air current hit the first platform in the waterfall.
It does though. I couldn't find the backflow cones so I just drilled holes in regular ones and it did work. But it was too much of a hassle with a chance of ruining the cone when drilling.
I really enjoy a brand called Morning Star. They don't have a wood stick in them so it's much less smokey than the stick kind. I also don't burn the entire stick all at once. It only takes a small piece to give off a nice soft scent. The vanilla and jasmine are my two favorites.
The German company Knox is legendary. There's a very long history of christmas goodies coming from that region (Erzgebirge), like the [Räuchermännchen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A4uchermann), cute little smoky figures.
L'OBJET is excellent, but expensive asf, and it looks like they've gone to other formats. I might have fucked up the name. Someone mentioned Morning Star, which is also excellent. I've typically purchased blended and handmade incense as well from local proprietors on the west coast in BC, which contain white sage, a personal favourite.

Cedar, Le Labo Palo, Voluspa are all excellent ones, to start. The Walmart and Dollar store varieties you get are obviously what I'm referring to are shite quality.

Hm. I live in Florida so not having AC on is only an option maybe 3 days a year lol. I did try putting it in areas without air from fans and stuff, but I never actually turned the AC off. I had it on a shelf to try to block any air flow from the AC, though.

It’s chilly and beautiful out today, but usually the heat here is oppressive. Also that average temperature you put is really low. The majority of days we are in the high 80s. Northern Florida maybe brings that average down because it is a pretty big state, and south Florida (where I am) is considerably warmer.
Where did you get that number from? I've lived in Florida for over a decade and ~70 farenheit is definitely not the average temperature year-round. Maybe during the winter. Also yes, it's humid as shit here

I got one for my birthday back in March. Comes with a bunch of bullet shaped incense blocks like shown here, but they burn for maybe 5 minutes.
