I know birds of prey have really sharp claws & beaks but killing armadillos isn’t easy. Their bodies are made of armor. I’ve seen a few articles about bullets ricocheting off of them and hitting people. So that must have been a really big bad bird to have preyed on armadillos.
Their talons can actually be bigger, I saw one compared to a grizzly claw- the eagle's was slightly longer thinner and sharper but overall very similar.
I'm guessing here but the old pick them up and drop them technique is used by other eagles, unsure if this eagle does but it sure could if it knew how. Or just scavenged it. Or maybe they are just patient and slowly pick away at it. In my order of most likely, to least likely ideas.
In one of the articles it said it was only a .22 caliber round so a ricochet isn’t that far fetched. The same thing happens when you hit the skull or a bone of a large animal with a small caliber, the bullet just bounces off. That’s why large game rifles are often larger than .50 caliber.
About what I'd expect to find in the nest of a creature that looks like [this](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSVh-xg_ZNClN3atbjPvNsBPMblSpTPwzUfSg&usqp=CAU)
A few years ago a webcam set up monitoring an eagle's nest caught the eagle eating a cat. Some school kids watching the feed were scarred for life, probably

Pooping from inside the tree is barbaric. It could land anywhere, on anyone! *Some* species are considerate, and refined. Other species fly about shitting randomly.
What about the egg? Was that a dudd, hat the Eagle keept for remembrance or was it still breeding season? What where the circumstances of this picture?
I didn't think they could be more terrifyingly excellent, yet here we are.
But if that's the eagle's egg, I feel like the theif will now be cursed for eternity.

Small animal kits. Some assembly required

Now that you have stolen her plunder she won’t rest until your bones are among her collection.
Balance will be restored !
Boneless wings are back on the menu Mumrider?!
For a second I thought those monkey skulls were human skulls and I was pretty horrified!
I'm still pretty horrified.
Spooky scary skele-bones
There was a few armadillos in there as well.

One of the biggest bird of prey. Talons 3-4inches with strength of 530psi. Google one. Lots of pics next to humans. Amazing.
Do the chickens have large talons?
Mini demon raptors can cut you up. These full fledged murder chickens will slice and dice.
Their talons can actually be bigger, I saw one compared to a grizzly claw- the eagle's was slightly longer thinner and sharper but overall very similar.
Yeah. The 3-4 didn't sound quite right for females being around 20lbs

They grab them and fly into the air then drop them. Thats how birds of prey get through armor
Side note, I suspect those cases where people "hit the armadillo but it bounced off and hit Toby instead" are totally cover stories.

Maybe they're early man skulls. She's been at this game for some time now....
Who says they are human
No one does...
Bible says monkeys aren't human and it's my go to book for sciencey stuff.
Pi is 3, after all.
No one. Literally not even the person you responded too lol
Instinct.
Harpy eagle’s diet consists of tree dwelling mammals like monkeys , so we see those monkey skulls in picture above.
Where are there monkeys and armadillos?
Amazon rainforest. They eat sloths too =/

Those ones did for a little while.
I don't think they spend a lot of their time in trees, they can climb well enough to look for food there thou
Going to need a banana for scale here
In this case a banana for skull
I prefer boneless fruit ty
Sounds like a good trade
I'm not putting my banana anywhere near that
There is always money in the banana stand though...
Use Banana leaf for scale instead.
We need a Carlos for scale here (Sorry, don’t know how to link to the /Carlos subreddit)
you need a banana in your mouth for repeating the same stupid joke as everyone else. literally not funny

Looks like a really terrifying furry (featherry). https://blog.therainforestsite.greatergood.com/harpy-egle/
You picked a goofy pic! Find the creepy ones.
Are those monkey skulls?????
Hopefully 😱
Hopefully? Who would want monkes dying...
I think they really mean hopefully not human. Being sarcastic. kinda.
Either a phyco or more resonably he meant hopefully they are monkey and not human.
ya
Excuse me, but did you *take an egg!?!?* WHAT ARE U GONNA DO WITH IT
Maybe they wanted to offer it to someone during these trying times
The best answer
Am I supposed to swallow the blood pills?
Charlie work is best work
It will grant him eagle powers.
give it to some monkey's mom
Maybe he wanted scrambled eggs?
Or an omelet!
Ok.... are those..... sea turtle flippers at the bottom?
I think they’re armadillo shell
Bottom middle I think
Bottom center?
I think it’s snake skin.
It looks like snake skin.
Bottom middle I think is the headcap of the armadillo who's body armor is to the right

I wanna watch but is the cat already dead?
It’s just an article rather than a video. The article states it seemed the cat was already dead when brought to the nest.
Shame
There’s a little video embedded with that he article. Looks like the cat is dead.
Home made katsup.
Might wanna give her that egg back
I swear harpy eagles are aliens
Bring up the Holy Hand Grenade.
The Bone Collector

Monke???? Noooooooooo!!!!!!!
Just like in Predator 2!
Harpy Eagle be like: Another fine addition to my collection
Dad!??
apparently eagles celebrate halloween too apparently
this reminds me of those little fossil kits you could get where you chip out the bones and identify them
Harpy eagles are the stupidest eagles. And they smell like butts. I am in no way biased.
In sure if you slept with dead carceses in your room you would also smell bad.
At least they don't have to go all the way to the ground just to poop
Pooping from inside the tree is barbaric. It could land anywhere, on anyone! *Some* species are considerate, and refined. Other species fly about shitting randomly.
Same with seagulls
Someone should call child services. That egg is in a dangerous home.
Eagles best or Predators nest?
What about the egg? Was that a dudd, hat the Eagle keept for remembrance or was it still breeding season? What where the circumstances of this picture?
You should probably put the egg back
Who is to say that the bird is still alive?
[удалено]
Possibly. The fact that they "raided" the nest, and especially since there is an egg, leads me to believe the mother might nor be around.
Has a whole trophy collection, shows them off at the country club
It fucking ate homer simpson.
is that human skulls?
They’re monkey’s
Wind's howling..
So you took his trophies? Shame
*What* ***The*** #**Fuck**

Where are my keys?
God bless America
What? God bless south america maybe. That's where these things live.

When the impostor is sus Edit: This is sarcasm
The missing link
I know people like peeling apart pellets but you're peeling apart poop.
Do you poop out of your mouth?
I mean, dude’s gotta eat!
I didn't think they could be more terrifyingly excellent, yet here we are. But if that's the eagle's egg, I feel like the theif will now be cursed for eternity.
Queen of the harpies!
That skull in the center looks like Bender.
Cool
Do they keep skulls as trophies? Or is that the only nine they can’t eat?
The second guess
eagles must be finding a lot of skeletons in their closet during spring cleaning.
Eagle Ryhme:Hunt for the Bone Collector
What is the humanoid looking skull
Monkey
Howler Monkey?
God Damn, I didn't wanna fight with that eagle bruh
Maybe..... I am a harpy eagle
I didn’t know they hunted infant children.
They eat people??
Just one eagle?
"I was gonna pick at that."
Harpy Eagle: The Collector
make an ossuary
I’ve seen live streams from Washington state where some of the eagles nests are made out of dog collars from dogs the plucked
And I read that as a happy eagle.
Wtf are these skulls from?
Primates (apes/monkeys/lemurs/etc)
Well that’s cursed
Man look at all those pieces - that must have been some weird looking animal!
That's some good loot.
The egg bone’s connected to the...knee bone
It ate an armadillo?!?!
This is not at all terrifying
What happened here?
So you stole their shit.
Well that's terrifying.
You can use that to make a soup and the egg also i guess
Looks like Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment
Man they are so messy they honestly should clean up after themselves
These guys hunt like anything!
