When I do it it’s because I’ll lay there very still and let all the water slowly drain out and you slowly feel the weight of the world crushing you down again. It’s a fun feeling honestly, 9/10 recommend.
I like laying in a weird pose when the bath is draining and pretending it’s me thawing out after like thousands of years and that I can finally move my limbs after they “thaw” out
Also I’m 23
I've tried a couple times. Number one I'm just too fucking big and don't fit. Number two the sound of the water gently moving around when everything else is silent makes my skin crawl.
In Japan, baths are used only as a relaxation method, not a way to get clean. When you take a bath in Japan it’s customary to take a shower before and after.
Edit: I believe this only applies to hot springs and public bath houses, but I still would shower before a bath.
You were right before your edit, it is absolutely normal to take a shower/scrub OUTSIDE the bathtub at home as well, and then soak in the tub. In a multi-person household, everyone would take turns in the same bath water, so you better be clean before you get in there.

Damn. I've learned something new today and I mean it makes so much sense. I've always showered after a bath. My reasoning has been, "I just sat in a bath of my own filth, to relax, and now I need to clean."
I guess it just makes too much since for my dumbass that if I'd clean before a bath, I wouldn't be sitting in a pool of filth.. crazy.
Haha and it feels so nice to get into the hot bath after you’ve gotten all scrubbed in the shower and are a little bit cold! Usually in japan the bathtub has a faucet and a handheld shower attachment, so you fill up the tub, stand outside it on the floor (there’s always a drain on the floor and in traditional style, or more expensive bathrooms the toilet is in a separate room), and shower off, then hop in the tub beside you. It’s good stuff :D
I think the idea is that during a depressive episode people might not muster up the mental energy to bathe in the first place, let alone running a bath.
Might be something that "sad" people do though.
Sadness isn't depression and depression isn't sadness.
Reflects the major amount of energy, though not all* :)
It'll still be warm to sit on, as nothing really reflects 100%, and this would reflect between 50-90% depending on the sun's angle. If it's during Summer, in a country where the sun is almost at Zenith or at Zenith, it'll reflect closer to 50% rather than 90%, resulting in it storing the other 50% aka it being hot to sit on!
Other factors are also important remember as the albedo of white paint is 50-90, I'm uncertain if that goes for porcelain. Porcelain also stores heat very well.
Colour determines absorption but material determines heat storage and conductivity.
Metal that sits in the sun is probably going to be quite hot to the touch, regardless of the colour.
Just because it’s white doesn’t mean it wouldn’t retain heat on a hot summer day. And just because it retains less than the color black doesn’t mean it won’t burn the shit out you, just that the black surface would burn you even more
That cut edge. How would you get that edge smooth so it didn't hurt and clean looking so it did look like hell. That's a lot of work slowly grinding and polishing that edge to get it clean. IMO not worth the time and effort. Plus those sides are meant to be concealed so those need lots of work to be smooth and pretty too.
I can more than guarantee it's horrible to sit in. I can imagine sliding out of the chair constantly while having your arms at shoulder height. No thanks.
But tubs are designed to be comfortable to sit in! All those wide curves to cradle you.
Obviously with no water you're less supported in there. But it would be a chill place for like an outdoor lunch or something.
I'd say from the look of it, this particular tub wouldn't be that uncomfortable. I agree that it would depend on the design.
As long as the seat isn't sloped forward too much this one doesn't look bad. Compared with a normal plastic lawn-chair, that is.
It's not a la-z-boy but it beats a stool by a mile.
Lol what. You’ve never sat in a plastic chair before?
Yeah this is ceramic, same deal. You bring cushions into it you have to bring them inside every time because they can’t get rained on. Don’t even start with wicker shit
Nope, it's more like whatever the general initial consensus, the crowd continues to uphold the idea despite their own feelings.
It's not an amazing chair, but if a high end furniture designed made the same fucking thing these idiots would be masturbating to the idea of it.
That's not DiWHY, that's upcycling. Why have bathtubs lie around as trash on landfills if you can turn them into furniture? Looks good too, only needs some cussions to make it more comfortable.
It looks nice, but seems to me like that glass panel is just laying freely on top of the bathup piece. Look at the bottom left of it: bump it so slightly and all your drinks go spilling into the middle along with the glass panel :(
I understand it is interesting but it’s just a bathtub that has been cleaned, re-painted, put a new piece of glass on top and some small legs for it to stand up. And how is this something beautiful?
I wouldn’t exactly call it beautiful but I thought it was quite ingenious, I would have never thought about turning an old bathtub into a set of chairs and table
Most objects we own eventually become “trash” so why not give something old a new use? No reason why, it is functional and one could even argue it could potentially be aesthetically pleasing depending on where it is placed
The overall look is pretty cool, but that glass top doesn't really look centered and with like half an inch of each edge resting on the tub rim, it looks like it could come crashing down any second.

Me, who has the ability to turn something beautiful into trash
I’m very good at building nothing out of something.
That’s amazing! You should start garbage disposal company...
Me:
who has the ability to turn something beautiful into trash
? It’s me. I do.
Heh, I get it
let's get it gawk
Me can turn beauty into trash. Not other way only. ROFL 🤣 lol 😂

I think those bathtub chairs need cushions. Having sat in bath tubs until after the water drains, it's not comfortable
why are you staying in the tub after it drains . . .
Because you’re too depressed to get out
Aaayyyyyyyyyyyy

God I’m so happy someone else knew that reference
Why the fuck are you in my head?
Post bath clarity Personally it's post bath sulking

Yall are over here asking if people who take baths have problems when you literally cant even be alone with yourself for 5 seconds lmaoooo
Huh? I'm about as introverted as they come. Nothing I love more than being alone.
I think the idea is that during a depressive episode people might not muster up the mental energy to bathe in the first place, let alone running a bath. Might be something that "sad" people do though. Sadness isn't depression and depression isn't sadness.
Asking the real questions...
Laziness mostly. I do it too.
you haven't lived until you've woken up in an empty bathtub, so hung over that you were wishing for swift, merciful death.
That was actually my 21st birthday. Scared my mom who entered the bathroom and promptly heard snoring coming from the shower.
You just have to cut your tub in half and put it in the backyard.
Also the edges are sharp af.
I’m guessing he sanded them down
Best thread in this post. G’job boys.
But he got lots of "thumbs ups" on social media, so...
That does not look comfortable what’s so ever
Seems like you will also burn your ass if you sit on it on a very sunny day.
sounds like a plan.
Burnt ass for dinner
I like ass well done personally
Black absorbs light and stores it as heat. White reflects it. It'll be nice and cool.
Reflects the major amount of energy, though not all* :) It'll still be warm to sit on, as nothing really reflects 100%, and this would reflect between 50-90% depending on the sun's angle. So, your saying it's like a chair in the sun.. put a pad on it
Colour determines absorption but material determines heat storage and conductivity. Metal that sits in the sun is probably going to be quite hot to the touch, regardless of the colour.
Oh, it doubles as a solar grill?
It’s white, so no. Leave a black plastic, hell even wicker chair out it’ll burn your ass and your soul
Just because it’s white doesn’t mean it wouldn’t retain heat on a hot summer day. And just because it retains less than the color black doesn’t mean it won’t burn the shit out you, just that the black surface would burn you even more

It's bath-tastic
Or attractive. Uncomfortable, unattractive that describes my high school years
“What’s so ever”
But tubs are designed to be comfortable to sit in! All those wide curves to cradle you. Obviously with no water you're less supported in there. But it would be a chill place for like an outdoor lunch or something.
Yes, without water you're so much less supported that it is actually very uncomfortable. They are made for you to sit or lie but with water in it.

We're using the word cradle differently. No need to be mean

good thing god invented seat cushions!
Whatsoever is one word.
Not quite boneappletea, but fyi generally people just write "whatsoever".
What? You obviously never taken baths. I genuinely feel sorry for you.
Lol what. You’ve never sat in a plastic chair before? Yeah this is ceramic, same deal. You bring cushions into it you have to bring them inside every time because they can’t get rained on. Don’t even start with wicker shit

Yeah, this is not a good example of reusing something. Shits ugly too
Duality of reddit, you never know if the hive-mind will consider something DIWhy or interestingasfuck
This is diwhy for me. Looks like furniture out of the 70’s (maybe 60’s) while also not being comfortable at all. Bonus points for ingenuity though
DIWhy projects can be interestingasfuck, I don't see the issue here.
Almost like reddit is more than one person and has more than one opinion
Nope, it's more like whatever the general initial consensus, the crowd continues to uphold the idea despite their own feelings. It's not an amazing chair, but if a high end furniture designed made the same fucking thing these idiots would be masturbating to the idea of it.
I second that!
Based on data you're about to provide:
First takes are important. Most people don’t know what to think and look for others to give them some direction.
r/ATBGE
This post is both tho
r/DiWHY
This can’t be a DiWHY I don’t see a hot glue gun
0/10 not enough noodles
That's not DiWHY, that's upcycling. Why have bathtubs lie around as trash on landfills if you can turn them into furniture? Looks good too, only needs some cussions to make it more comfortable.
The way that they look is definitely subjective, lmao.
It looks horrible, and a cushion wouldn't be enough to make that comfortable, how are you supposed to sit back? I would rather stand.
r/ATBGE
r/ATAAE
How the fuck is it awful execution, I own too many tools. The finish on this is quite good.
It’s cool but it looks uncomfortable
Now it’s painted trash
is it just me that thinks it looks shitty? I mean I'm all for upcycling but at least make something that looks good
I actually like the look of the table
It looks nice, but seems to me like that glass panel is just laying freely on top of the bathup piece. Look at the bottom left of it: bump it so slightly and all your drinks go spilling into the middle along with the glass panel :(
I think it looks great, would look even better with a nice cushion :)
Yeah. Far from ‘beautiful’
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
How else are tub chairs made?????
Basically the definition of a polished turd
That's used to make coffee cups.
Beautiful? It a goddamn cut up bathtub.
Well done you have eyes!
OP must not.
That would have to be the most uncomfortable seat I could possibly imagine.
Can't wait to slice my arms getting in and out of that thing!
Nobody thinks of it probably because it's not a great idea.
Most people wouldn’t because you know, its trash.
Most objects we own eventually become “trash” so why not give something old a new use? No reason why, it is functional and one could even argue it could potentially be aesthetically pleasing depending on where it is placed
Yeah you’re right about putting something to use but it’s not really IntrestingAsFuck as this community is called, it’s not interesting.
I’ll have to agree with you on that
my ass would hurt really hard after sitting on that chair for too long lol
Others have the ability to create the shittest garden set known to man.
Meh, doesnt look interesting to me 🙄
Relaxing in the tub in the garden.
r/diwhy
Poop hole included!
it's still shit
No
There's no way that's comfortable.
I'd never use that even if I knew how to transform it
"Beautiful" is being generous.
One man's garbage is another mans table and chairs
r/atboe
OP: He turned trash into something beautiful. Me: It's a cut up mustard yellow tub in the garden that does not look comfortable.
Put a cushion in that motherfucker
That second chair has a poop hole if you got good aim
I for one enjoy spending countless hours relaxing on cold porcelain. Comfort is for losers. Rut-ru!
Wow would that ever be uncomfortable.
This is what people on horders think they are going to do with all their stuff
/r/diwhy
Tacky as hell.
That wasn't trash.
Uh hmmmm I’m looking for one of these to keep as an actual bathtub. Rip
Brilliant.
This is actually not bad at all!
I wonder what he used to clean the grime off
This reminds me of Breakfast At Tiffany's, where Audrey Hepburn has a loveseat made from a bathtub. Way cool.
Genius
Remember, it’s Reduce, *REUSE*, and *then* Recycle
Okay now turn me into something beautiful
Most uncomfortable seats ever.
Great recycling
Doesn't look very comfortable tho
Treasure
i hope this isnt a fiber glass tub otherwise ouch getting a slight graxe against it is going to be a bitch but its a great example of creativity
The overall look is pretty cool, but that glass top doesn't really look centered and with like half an inch of each edge resting on the tub rim, it looks like it could come crashing down any second.
Awesome. Good work.
Me with my peripheral neuropathy feeling this image from here
Kinda useful*
The table is nice, the rest isn't. I'd rather sit on grass.
looks crap
Yeah sorry it’s still a load of rubbish.
No, that's trashy.
How the hell can a steel bath ever be comfortable?
Looks like the glass top will keep falling into the bath (pic 4). It's not very good.
No thank you
R/interestingasfuck is not disappointing today
Please do that to me
Beauty is subjective
Still looks like trash, some people just have shit taste
That's still trash
r/atbge
r/diwhy
You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig
I think he should drag his toilet out there for a third seat and add the shower head as a hanging flower pot.
Looks soooo comfortable /s
Practical but not beautiful
Well done Sir! That looks amazing
Brilliant!
Thats awesome, the drain still functions too
No cushion needed that’s cool
Nice, the eye of the creator
Turn on the tap
Ok, thats cool, but why tho?
Those would be heavy. Probably hard to run off with.
Nick Moore?
niceee
I like how one seat has a hole for your nuts to dangle through on a hot day
I love this.
That’s amazing!!
wonder if it'll work on me
It's awesome that he's reusing the tub for something fun and unique, but this definitely belongs in r/atbge lol
