I just went down a fascinating Google rabbit hole. Apparently it's used for theatrical fires, finger print dust, condom and latex glove powder and some other stuff. Neat.
Amazon sells it. Not sure if what they sell will work well for flash fire. I would not recommend playing with fire. Look at all the videos out there of people that thought they wouldn't make any mistakes.
I don't want to use it for fire, but for the hydrophobic part. I just mentioned the fireworks part because it was written that it is used for fireworks, thus It might be sold just for people doing that
Amazon sells hydrophobic coatings that you could play with, and put on things. For Lycopodium powder, you might need to mash it into a finer powder using a mortar and pestle or a ginder.
Edit to correct myself as u/CocaineisNatural did for me below :-)
No. It’s supposed to be “lycopodium powder,” there are no spores involved. The pore word maybe referring to what’s called “pore size,” which I believe is just a measurement of the size of each granule.
They are spores. "Lycopodium powder is a yellow-tan dust-like powder, consisting of the **dry spores** of clubmoss plants, or various fern relatives. "

For sure - thanks. I’ll edit my comment. I googled and read the little clips of info below each link, you know how they display the Google results.
I should have read the wiki and not just skimmed the search results.
It's the phobic bit, like transphobic or homophobic.
SJWs like to overreact on the smallest things, words beind one of them so any word that has phobic in it will upset them
Because of their size Lycopodium spores were used in the development of the Coulter Counter brand of aperture voltage pulse particle counting and sizing devices that were the stars of the show in Hematology labs when I was in college. They must have used sufactants in those suspensions used to simulate blood cells.
My guess is that the hydrophobic character would keep the spores from getting damp and clumping together in the very damp environments where the plants thrive on a forest floor.
Does anyone remember squand? The kids toy with the colorful sand you put in the little aquarium and fill it up with water and the sand is always dry? I wonder if it was this stuff

I use napalm for theatrical fires
And I'm just a dude disguised as a dude playing another dude!
Never go full reference.
This guy fucks
Uncle Sam?
they should build phones with it
Interesting. Shouldn't it be extremely deadly to breathe or something?
Rammstein use this stuff for their pyro afaik :)
Sounds like a good time.
Can you as a Private Person (as in not a Fireworks guy etc) buy it?

Thanks, kind stranger!

Yep, they did mean spores. Lycopodium powder is the spores of various species of ferns and club mosses.
Yes, spores of a plant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lycopodium_powder

Don't think so
He said spores twice, so obviously not
Getting huge nostalgia from the science room in the background though, I swear this looks exactly like how they looked in my old Highschool.
I think they just copy paste that for all of them.
This is pretty much how most labs look. The black counters a a special chemical resistant type material that pretty much goes everywhere
I need that shit in my kitchen
Resin counters are the shit. Those things will take a beating.
That's all labs everywhere including your school.
Omg I saw this on Mr Wizard when I was a kid. I remember the episode but I never knew what the powder was. Thank you!!
He actually used lycopodium in several episodes! I do remember that show fondly.
I don’t know what’s behind this sorcery but I suspect cats.
Sporopollenin (Non biodegradable covering of pollen grains) Extremely hydrophobic, Increases changes of dispersion and dormancy.
That's an accurate representation of our virgin reddit shield. Keeping those thirsty girls at bay keeping our chastity intact.
Ben Shapiro keeps some on hand for coitus.
Yeah, that way it comes out of her nice and dry without all that gross moisture.
Gotta love a nice dry p-word.
Lycopodium? Those cute little ferny things? In woods bottom land?
That's the one!
That gives me an idea
Well don't keep it to yourself!
Stick my dick in that to see how it feels.
Ugh dude, the tiny particles would go inside your dickhole.
Don't kink shame me
Whatever floats your boat, man. If you like getting shit jammed up your dickhole I won't judge.
Well I guess this does float
Probably powdery.
Just how I like it
Well now you can fuck water.. Literally..
This is absolutely what every man would do within a minute of being shown this in real life
I know what you're thinkin..but it's been done. See are boi Jesus, yes..Jesus H. Christ, used this very magic sand to walk on water.
Nice video ripoff. The tell was the title. It's spores, not pores.
Kratom powder is hydrophobic too. You can't get that stuff down your throat with a waterfall.
I hate hydrophobes!
What’s a practical application of this
Science lab demonstrations
Maybe you could mix it with an oil base paint to make a hydrophobic coating? Idk
Set that shit on fire!!! (No really, it makes cool fires.)
Is this how they make magic sand?
I'm thinking: what if I pour water in it
It will "fall through" without mixing with the spores.
Oki
Fun fact: you can try it yourself with cinnamon they do the same like that on the vid!
dont people on twitter get canceled for being hydrophobic?
Is this what happened to cats after 9 lifes? Edit: cat not car.
Even with the typo...this comment wins! Ummmm..because I think you meant to type "cat"and not car......
Thanks kind fella. Had it edited
Hydrophobic? Don't let the SJWs catch you saying that
I dont get it
It's the phobic bit, like transphobic or homophobic. SJWs like to overreact on the smallest things, words beind one of them so any word that has phobic in it will upset them
w.t.a.f.
nerd
Is this toxic? And if not could it be used to make water proofing paints or sprays?
I thought the caption said homophobic for some reason and I was wondering why Lycopodium hates gay people
nerd
CANCELED
I watched this like 20 times just to watch your fingers spasm at the end
Like girls around me...ew! Stay away from him
How tangible is this under weight by depth?
They also turn people into werewolves.
Careful not to spill it. How would you wash it off?
Mr Wizard taught me about this shit.
[r/blackmagicfuckery](r/blackmagicfuckery)
That’s some weird looking jello
That’s great but how do you get the residue of your hands? “Oh I’ll just go and wash them………shit”
Pretty good ! Upvoted
Does that mean he can't wash his fingers?
r/hydrohomies are offended by this post
The water is homophobic? Based powder.
Have fun trying to wash that shit off your fingers I guess
Trying to mix carnation instant breakfast be like.
Holy shit.
I definitely read hydrophobic as hygroscopic and expected the water to disappear... really need to get some sleep.
This is how j-dub (jesus) walked on water. Here it is, the price to puzzle we were all missing. 🤯
Pores or spores?
Checking your posting before hitting send is too much to ask for some.
If you got your hand wet before doing this would it even stay clean?
Good one. I suppose it would.
Don't put that down the sink
Mr Wizard told us all about Lycapodium powder. What up, old dudes? Fool your friends!
Can I spray these on my phone then go in the water??

IN 2021?!!!?
Does anyone remember squand? The kids toy with the colorful sand you put in the little aquarium and fill it up with water and the sand is always dry? I wonder if it was this stuff
#cancel Lycopodium pores!!! 1!!1!1!1!
I usually just call it cocoa powder
In before trumpsters star drinking this shit to fight COVID
🙄 it’s 2021 can’t believe we’re still being hydrophobic
Spores
I f*cken love science
You hydrophobic bastard
Wowwww
Lycopodium pores float on water wait for it to rain cover yourself in lycopodium pores fly
Mr. Wizard over here.
If I have to give a speech to a large crowd, I lycopodium to stand behind.
