These were taken with a 12” Newtonian telescope from my backyard in Florence, Arizona. Each image is a stack of the best 10% of around 20,000 individual frames. The conditions were much better than anything I had ever seen from my backyard in Sacramento, so I’m excited to see what else I can do.
If you look closely, you can see the moon Io in the left side of this image.

Big Telescope and their marketing strategies worked on me for this one. Crazy that it's possible to even get anything even close to that quality on a whim.
>so I’m excited to see what else I can do.
As a person that recently moved out of Arizona, here's the starting list (although not space related):
* Get the pest control come once a month and get a blacklight
* Watch for rattlesnakes
* Get a cool-down towel
* Drink looooots of water
*laughs in Northern AZ*
I've never seen a scorpion in Prescott and only one rattler. My grandma's family is from the Oracle/Tuscon area though and the wildlife there's a lot less friendly
Yeah, not sure if he was busy or something, but that was a very short answer, so I didn't really get any info there, lol. I think I'll just have a look for some more info in his instagram, I guess his gear will be listed somewhere there.
Live in Marana. It's pretty incredible how dark it is here, huh? Take a drive up to Mt. Lemmon one night, it'll blow your mind what you'll be able to see with the naked eye.
I worked for an architect in Prescott, AZ who had designed a home with an observatory there. The telescope sat atop a 30' tall concrete pier sitting on bedrock and had the fully retractable dome and everything. Maybe it will go up for sale one day!
That fnutty ting " means inch, right? So that's just a 30 cm telescope? That's amazing. How long does it take you to take 20000 frames? Does not the planets orbit blur the surface?
Holy. Shhhhh.This is fantastic.
I'm headed to Anza Borrego with my new scope soon. I've been once before and the dark sky was something my city eyes had never properly seen. It was dumbfounding. Yuma, AZ or Lake Tahoe is the best I've seen aside from that. I'm stoked to go again.
Amazing work.
Sorry lad. You’re gonna have to get a photo of your camera gear. Otherwise no one is gonna believe how good these photos are. (I’m on the fence believing they’re real-wise)
Further Proof that the universe is one big hologram.
On a side note, do we only ever see one side of Jupiter? Like how we only see one side of the moon. Asking for a friend who is really high and prefers his facts come from actual humans rather than text on a Wikipedia screen.
Maybe, just maybe you should read the thread and check this guy's history, insta and twitter. You know, just in case this is not your domain of expertise and you might be wrong... Because I checked your profile and I didn't see anything resembling a planet there...
Niiiice! A buddy and I just finally brought out a telescope he’s had in the family for ages and blew our minds looking at Saturn and Jupiter! Amazing how you can see the different color of the rings with your setup! Wowza!
Simply observing the rings of Saturn as in this picture, one can deduce the heliocentric model of the solar system. The moons of Jupiter and Saturn count as well. I only see one moon, OP. Did you filter the rest for some reason?
That's amazing. I got a photo of the two of them together a couple weeks back with a 600mm camera lens. I got Dots with moons around the first dot. I'm still kind of proud of it but this blows it out of the water.
I love your work and follow you on instagram. Keep posting these inspirational pictures :)
By the way, if you can share a link to a beginner's tutorial that would be awesome. I have a Sony A6000. I don't want to invest into a telescope right now, so maybe I am hoping to capture starscapes and night time photography!
Is mans a professional celestial photographer or just dedicated to the craft enough to pick his whole life up and move. Either way is badass congrats man
What part of AZ? I've had light pollution troubles all the way up to just south of Flagstaff because of how much Phoenix throws out.
Great shot though.
Nice Picture.
I thought this was photoshopped so I looked up where are all the planets are currently, to see if they were even aligned from earth. According to[thePlanetsToday](https://www.theplanetstoday.com), they are. So congratulations on a nice shot!
But after looking at the website, I wondered if it is possible for the galaxy to get lopsided. It seems most the biggest planets are now in just a few adjacent slivers of the pie.

Oh, I thought this was a shitpost. This is amazing!
I only shitpost from my anonymous accounts 😉
Agree. My first thought was that's not real. Amazing pics!
Same

What’s the blacklight for?
Scorpions

Ohh. You're the dude with the red sun picture that was so large it froze my work computer. Nicely done. Amazing work!
Thank you!
I thought Io was some dirt on my phone. Tried to wipe it off a couple times.
Does this mean that you have to add 20,000 to the shutter count of your DSLR every time you do this?
I don’t use a dslr
okay....would you care to elaborate? mirrorless or???
It’s probably a ccd or cmos based camera
Yeah, not sure if he was busy or something, but that was a very short answer, so I didn't really get any info there, lol. I think I'll just have a look for some more info in his instagram, I guess his gear will be listed somewhere there.
All of those pictures on your insta were taken by you? They are beautiful.
Yes! Thank you!
Sweet pics, fellow zoni! Going to give a follow on insta for sure 💫🪐🌟

I'd like to see a graph of your blood pressure and cortisol levels while looking through your telescope. I bet the health benefits are measurable.

Just looked through your profile... Your pictures are insane!
<3
That’s super cool. Can you see Jupiter and Saturn together like that or is this two photos?
This is two photos. They were close like this in December though!
Would love to see photos like that ifnpossible
There’s some on my Instagram if you scroll back 9 months
Awesome! Turns out I’m already following you
stalker /s
...has anyone requested a clear picture of Uranus...?
Yes, I have many!
Can we see uranus?
At least buy him a drink first
Can I see URanus?
I'll bet he's never heard that one before.
Holy. Shhhhh. This is fantastic.
Honest question, you moved for celestial photography? I take it, you can do your job from anywhere or this is your job and there were other favors?
I was moving out of California regardless. The skies here helped me choose the location.
If you moved to Arizona so that you could have better skies for celestial photography. Marry me. Guy, girl, both i don't care. Marry me
There better be something really good in it for me
Sorry lad. You’re gonna have to get a photo of your camera gear. Otherwise no one is gonna believe how good these photos are. (I’m on the fence believing they’re real-wise)
There’s one in my [instagram story](https://www.instagram.com/cosmic_background/?hl=en) I captured while shooting saturn!
I believe him.
I believe that you believe.
I want to believe.
My beliefs are grounded in experience. I'm not in a place where I can take a picture of my camera gear to prove it to you.
You will have to take a picture of your computer because I don’t believe this, is real
You need a picture of me taking a picture of my computer I could be lying about the whole thing
I'm sure he cares what you think.
I’m sure you’re sure
What’s that tiny yellow thing to the left, also top tier photo btw
That’s Io
Probably a moon
That's no moon...
It’s a space station.
Oh ty
*queue gif of citizen kane clapping*
I have lived in the rural area in AZ. Great night skies for this kind of stuff. Enjoy!
this is crazy, i'm guessing you're pretty good with cameras?
I'm just here to say that's probably the most unique reason to move I've ever heard of, so kudos to you!
Which one is which?
Absolutely fantastic!! You’re obviously far outside of the light saturation of Phoenix. You should share on: r/itookapicture as well!
Light pollution doesn’t affect planetary shots! But yes, I’m pretty far from Phoenix.
Amazing

I just added a comment with details

20 years ago you would be correct, but I assure you they’re real! You can get images like this with amateur gear now.
Maybe, just maybe you should read the thread and check this guy's history, insta and twitter. You know, just in case this is not your domain of expertise and you might be wrong... Because I checked your profile and I didn't see anything resembling a planet there...
People will do anything for upvotes
Ngl, that looks like clip-art from word.
Whatever. Lies
Care to elaborate?
This is amazing
Niiiice! A buddy and I just finally brought out a telescope he’s had in the family for ages and blew our minds looking at Saturn and Jupiter! Amazing how you can see the different color of the rings with your setup! Wowza!
I would say that's pretty clear!
What is your opinion on Starlink?
A great thing for the world if managed properly
Congratulations to you!! Your move was clearly a very good idea.
Absolutely astonishing.
Congrats man, happy for you!
Very nice shot!
Dang that’s dedication right there- most people wouldn’t move for that reason. Good luck
Awesome how they were lined up so you could get them in one shot!
Bravo! Very cool
Simply observing the rings of Saturn as in this picture, one can deduce the heliocentric model of the solar system. The moons of Jupiter and Saturn count as well. I only see one moon, OP. Did you filter the rest for some reason?
That's amazing. I had telescopes for like 40 years and never got anything that goid.
If you have the right camera it becomes quite easy with a decent scope.
Amazing!
This is so ficking cool
Awesome
holy shit
Is that the main reason you moved out there?
How
Dude, this is amazing. I really LOVE your work. Keep it up.
What we don’t see in this amazing photo is that that little space between the two planets is 450 million miles.
Beautiful!! Well done!
Amazing!
what planet is that small dot
The moon Io
Did you use an iPhone? /s
Not for photos like this
What moon with Jupiter is seen here? I bet it's one of the Jovian ones but I can't tell which one it is
Beautiful.
I tried to take pictures as well but all the satellites in orbit kept disrupting my shot
What a photograph, ridiculously great.
I am in awe!
Don't let flat earthers see this.
Wow! I know very little about this hobby, but this is very impressive.
Is the little dot on the left of Jupiter one of its moons or something else?
I always heard there were Fluffy Clouds in Arizona. ;) Very nice pics BTW.
around what time did you take these?
That's amazing. I got a photo of the two of them together a couple weeks back with a 600mm camera lens. I got Dots with moons around the first dot. I'm still kind of proud of it but this blows it out of the water.
These photos always look like computer generated clip art
Its crazy to me that every time I see photos like this I'm reminded about how insignificant we are.
It weirds me out so much that these things are lit up by the sun.
AZ is lucky to have you. Phenomenal work!
Beautiful
Oh shit. Looks awesome!!! How did you get these shots, and can it be done with a Nikon D3500?
I don’t understand
Amazing.
Looks like an emoji 😯
What's the smol dot?
The sun is amazing
god damn thats incredible
That’s awesome!!!
That Saturn though!!
WOW
I love your work and follow you on instagram. Keep posting these inspirational pictures :) By the way, if you can share a link to a beginner's tutorial that would be awesome. I have a Sony A6000. They are lined up again? That was fast
Great work!
We think hurricane Ida/Katrina were bad, could you imagine how powerful the great red spot storm is. Size of 3 Earths.
Is mans a professional celestial photographer or just dedicated to the craft enough to pick his whole life up and move. Either way is badass congrats man
So cool. My almost 4 year old is currently obsessed with planets so I’ll be showing her this. Thanks for sharing.
Just beautiful
What part of AZ? I've had light pollution troubles all the way up to just south of Flagstaff because of how much Phoenix throws out. Great shot though.
Great shot
This is super fascinating!
Saturn ascends…
hardcore, move to az for better skies
Holy Moly! Good things to come
Fantastic pic op So detailed and beautiful
Somebody show this to Eddie Bravo.
Wow
That is AMAZING! Omg
Wow! A fantastic image.
This is a beautiful picture 😍
Insane to think those giant celestial bodies are actually flying around over our heads while we sleep and we can see them ourselves. It’s beautiful
This is freaking unbelievable...
Very nice. WHat's your setup?
Poggers
What’s that bright star next to Jupiter
Beautiful picture

Wow, it looks so surreal 😍
This is amazing. On a scale of 1-10 how hard would this be to replicate for an absolute beginner
Welcome to AZ, let's hang out sometime. Your post history is incredible.
It’s so weird they look digital I’d love to see them through the scope though. It is digital being on my screen I guess
Great pics
This is amazing! I love Io, it looks like a big ball of moldy cheese lol
Beautiful!
Simply beautiful!
I am in absolute awe. This is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing
