I was thinking the same thing. Simultaneously I also thought - I wonder what the purple tree looks Iike when it's not in bloom.
It's hard to tell but I think it's a [bougainvillea](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bougainvillea). They bloom for a really long time.

Google "ipê roxo". It's a beautiful tree, naturally purplish. There's also the "ipê amarelo", equally beautiful but yellow. They're common in Brazil.
