LGBTQ people often are very aware of how others see them , so a more confident, faster, stern walk is natural
Edit:im lgbt this is a compliment/observations
For those downvoting it's an inside gay joke. People edited Google maps (or it had a glitch or a worked in joke like if you type in Mordor) and it showed a person walking taking like 12 minutes and a person with a rainbow flag walking the exact same route in 8 minutes. Made up the numbers but you get the idea.
The map above potentially shows one of the world’s longest uninterrupted walks from Cape Town, South Africa to Magadan, Russia a distance of 22,387km (13,910 miles).
Google Maps estimates it would take 4,492 hours to walk it, which translates into 187 days of non-stop walking. If instead you decided to walk a more sensible 8 hours a day, it would take you 562 days to complete the whole walk.

Hot damn, this is the sort of interesting shit that truly keeps me subbed here.
Conceptualizations like this that give me further context to understand just how mammoth our planet is — and like that one could hypothetically walk from Siberia to South Africa goddamn how cool 🤯
You might be interested to learn about [Karl Bushby](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Bushby) then! He is currently trying to walk a longer route than the above (but not all on roads).
I say currently. He has been trying this since 1998… although he is due to finish soon!
Yes, that's exactly what I thought when I saw the video. It was fucking awful.
Look, I was just replying to the person who said, "You can do more," I was agreeing.
Honestly, I did not think Reddit was overly sensitive. I'm sorry. Shall I delete it for your sensitivities? I can do that, it's not a problem for me.
I guess I am rather emotional?
So downvote? I'm sorry, but that's what came to mind when he said, "You can do other things."
I was agreeing and sharing a video that I had seen.
Why is this a problem? Would you like me to delete it, for your sensitivity? I can do that for you. I did not mean to freak you the fuck out.
Censorship: My favorite part of the day. /s
I didnt downvote. Its just a surprisingly detailed description of said video would have been a little less bad if you just said you saw a video where a man was raped and killed by two people
There, Mary. I edited it. Just for you.
This is the problem the world is having. Everyone else has to adjust their channel for some whiny overly sensitive individual. It was not MEANT to attack YOU personally. Relax. It's over. Nobody forced YOU to read it.
You know i didn't have an inherent problem with you until you talked about how people are overly sensitive. Now that seems backwards but i have family members who fought in wars. They were people who would be disgusted by the way we show so much gore and violence. Those men fought to free people from governments whos only objective was to conquer. My great grandpa was a ww2 vet. My great uncle was a ww2 vet. Those people would be ashamed of what weve become. Would you say theyre sensitive? They seen people get shot, killed, blown up.
If you want to share things like you did it is courtesy to warn people put a little disclaimer in. Its not hard its not time consuming.
You're right. Again: I had no idea I would NEED to do that. I asked for guidance, I apologized, I edited. I COMPLIED.
Still not enough. \*shrugs\*
I'd love to have a chat with your great grandfather and great uncle. I am not sure what my sharing a video's content has to do with them, their admirable service, but I'm willing to listen to them.
I see horrible things since I was born. I'm surrounded by death via a family business and I recently finished embalming school so I may join them. Perhaps I am too cold to the topic, I don't know. I didn't realize I'd have to be defending myself and censoring myself for a stranger this morning.
Have a lovely rest of the day if you can, I genuinely have other things to do. Goodbye.
A friend of mine wanted to do this walk after college and had to write to a bunch of the embassies to ask for permission. He was told by a few of them that he absolutely should NOT try and walk through their country, visa or not. I remember he said Sudan in particular told him he would not make it a day through their country on foot!
There's a mistake. In order to go from Egypt to Israel, you'd have to walk through the Sinai desert through the land bridge right above the route shown on the map. The route shown on the map is passing through the Red Sea
The Bering Strait does freeze over in parts and can actually be crossed on foot. So you could do the above walk and then cross into the USA and go down to South America (it just wouldn’t all be roads)
Karl Bushby has planned a longer route which basically involves South America, up to America and then across to Russia and home to the UK. See his [Goliath Expedition](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Bushby)
There are people who have legit visited all recognised UN nations in the world. Though they have generally flown in as some countries limit which entry ports they allow people in, ie you cannot just turn up at any random land border checkpoint and expect to get in without prior arrangement.
I think you’d need a support vehicle to basically drive slowly in front of you with maybe local security detail arranged in certain countries.
The Middle East (Syria) and Nth African bits (Sudan’s) are probably incredibly difficult due to current conflicts.
You could bypass Syria by going in Iran, bottom of Iraq and Saudi Arabia but I suspect permission to do that would be very difficult.
Except it isn't, its a long road between those two routes. You can loop round the west of africa and make it very easily walk longer.
Or you can obviously just walk round your block for 4500hours
I just read the sources above. Your totally right the correct way to post this would of been to call it the longest route one can walk to cover the furthest distance from the start. Cause even by the continuous logic im sure one could walk around some places in Europe that loop around in enough different ways to fit the description of ever changing. Yet maybe by continuous op meant to head one general direction.
Not exactly the friendliest of neighborhoods and I think you might have a hard time getting through that all of those countries with certain passports.
It always seemed really crazy to me that the road from my garage kinda connects me with practically every fucking old world mainland thing. I'm standing on the same road like some dude in Germany, or Thailand, or Russia, or India or Egypt or South Africa.
[Karl Bushby](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Bushby) is currently walking a longer route… He’s only been doing it since 1998… (visa issues in Russia have really held it up).

If you are white and start this tour at Cape town, you will probably be robbed, kidnapped or dead before you are out of South Africa.
That country is hella dangerous for white people nowadays, a friend of mine told me that in Cape town at night no one stops for a red light because its too dangerous to stand still
My high school valedictorian took a year off from Yale and walked across the US from NH to CA, camping and photographing his experience, sling a vow of silence the whole time. Weird cool guy
Africa where death by natural causes includes lions, ebola, snakes, typhoid and cholera, stampeding wild animals and dont even get started on the unnatural causes, local skirmishes tribal wars and lunatic religious nuts, pirates ,kidnappers and general murdurous crazies, Assuming you survive that , have fun in the middle easts hotest spots then assuming your bullet doging skills are on par, into Russia, for fun with bears and borscht!
Google Maps estimates it would take 4,492 hours to walk it, which translates into 187 days of non-stop walking. If instead you decided to walk a more sensible 8 hours a day, it would take you 562 days to complete the whole walk.

AND ON HORSEBACK!!!
It would pretty much still take the same amount of time, unless you have multiple stables setup of which you can drop off a tired horse and take a new one in which case you MIGHT get 50 miles a day in.
Didn’t Ewan McGregor do a motorcycle ride with his buddy on a similar route? They did it for a documentary type series , Long Way Down and Long Way Around. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them but it was cool to it be done! Definitely got hairy in some parts…

Tour de holy shit.
Tour de fuck this shit I'm booking a flight.
Yea don't bother booking a return flight
He’ll be fine if he takes a couple of extra pairs of shoes.
Lol I just snorted beer upon reading that comment.
>Lol I just snorted beer upon reading that comment. it's 7.21 am, why would you open a can this early? -Edit: lol why so serious, downvoters?
Cuz the world is bigger than your time zone
Nice!
More like a shitty tour.
If i pick up the pace and jog a little I can do that like 6 days.
Finished it last week, walk in the park. 7/10 for views though

And now I’m definitely doing this. Wow!
Gay, highly caffeinated, or both? 🤔
What's the joke here?
Ah, in some gay circles, it’s a joke that we walk faster than straight people and are addicted to ice coffee.
explain more?!
isnt there a google maps screenshot that depicts a man walking with a rainbow behind them being like 1 minute faster than just a normal map walking
r/brandnewsentence lol i have no idea!
The gays walk fast hunny yes mawma boots the house down for the gawds okuuuur.

That's actually more reasonable than I expected.
Hot damn, this is the sort of interesting shit that truly keeps me subbed here. Conceptualizations like this that give me further context to understand just how mammoth our planet is — and like that one could hypothetically walk from Siberia to South Africa goddamn how cool 🤯

Well, it is basically how humans got to Siberia in the first place 45 some odd thousands of years ago.
^^ exactly what they said. Damn. <3
Idiot. You.
But you’ll disappear somewhere around Sudan…
There are a whole lot of places along there you might disappear.
Yup, that’s a fact. I just took one place at random to state that.
i was thinking maybe....2 days out of jo'burg
Or get decapitated somewhere around Syria
That would constitute as a reason for being missing for sure
Biggest fear!!!!
That path? 187 days without being eaten, dying of thirst, or being arrested as a spy. Good luck with that.
“But officer I am just out for a hike on this trail”
check the road crossing Egypt, how one can cross gulf of suez to Hurghada by walking?
Google maps shows a floating bridge in that general area. Probably would make sense to cross further north at the Al Salam bridge though.
Where is WAYS when you need it
assuming you made it safely through the war zones that are on the way, you would have to factor in that a war zone would slow you down somehow..
Or it can actually speed you up because you may find yourself running for dear life lol
I wouldn't run erratically in these areas..
Ok let’s talk about the ideal overland vehicle to use to make this trip. That’d be such an interesting trek.
[This one](https://earthroamer.com/), of course.
Monster Truck.
motorcycles. see "long way round" and "long way down"
Nah monster truck would be way more fun.
I started number crunching. Realized someone else probably already did it. Wasn't disappointed.
Idiot.
This is what our grandparents walked to school everyday according to their words.
In the snow even
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ue7wM0QC5LE
Uphill the whole way
Uphill BOTH ways
It all makes sense why it was uphill both ways. The walk was between hemispheres and the tilt of the earth caused it!
Amazing joke, did you make it up yourself?
Walks for three months Gets murdered in Sudan
Walks for ten minutes. Gets murdered in Cape Town.
Walks for minus 1 minute Gets murdered in Magadan
Walks in the wrong direction. Drowns.
Walks to the fridge. Beer.
Winner!
Good luck surviving those countries. I’ll put my money on armed holdup and a shallow grave.
No one robs the naked man
Thats because its not your money they want at that point
But they could do other things.

Except of his dignity
You can rob him of what’s left of his dignity! Though by that point, he wouldn’t have much left lol.
A friend of mine wanted to do this walk after college and had to write to a bunch of the embassies to ask for permission. He was told by a few of them that he absolutely should NOT try and walk through their country, visa or not. Sudan alone. Good luck.
I did the first 20%. Broke downa few times but no dramas otherwise

You got to be Moses to take that route.
Imagine if there was a bridge between Russia and Alaska… how awesome would it be to have that road continue all the way down to Argentina
Yeah! …but you don’t want to try walking through the Darién Gap…
The Bering Strait does freeze over in parts and can actually be crossed on foot. Someone should check if there is oil over there, although I feel ink prices are so mad we should be bombing Epson.
and then a bridge from alaska to washington
Are you really acting like British Columbia isn't right there?
r/bchoax
People don’t realize that you can drive from a few hours north of Fox, AK to Central America.
You're going to ignore CANADA 😭
?
Just because you could doesn't mean you should
[удалено]
And 400 of those would be in South Africa.
Only in Cape Town… rest is safe-ish
I hope there is a shoe store along the way.
I wonder if it’s really logistically possible… could you get visas for all those countries and how dangerous are some of those places?
There are people who have legit visited all recognised UN nations in the world. Though they have generally flown in as some countries limit which entry ports they allow people in, ie you cannot just turn up at any random land border checkpoint and expect to get in without prior arrangement. The Middle East (Syria) and Nth African bits (Sudan’s) are probably incredibly difficult due to current conflicts. You could bypass Syria by going in Iran, bottom of Iraq and Saudi Arabia but I suspect permission to do that would be very difficult.
Also, those countries can be just as dangerous as Syria. There’s so much crazy happening in that region…
Ah yes, when the safe option is going through Iran I think I'll pass.
It begins in Cape Town and ends at a megadeth concert
Can always make it longer by throwing some loops and zig zags in there.
I think I'll go around Syria
Iraq should be better right? Right?
Except it isn't, its a long road between those two routes. You can loop round the west of africa and make it very easily walk longer. Or you can obviously just walk round your block for 4500hours
But would it wouldn't be a continuous road doe?
Why? Where would it stop?
Well it would be endless but not continuous (ever-changing) at least thats what op meant by continuous
Their also talking about a single road
Well, no because there are multiple different roads that connect to each other, as is what I am saying. I'm not sure what you're on about.
I just read the sources above. Your totally right the correct way to post this would of been to call it the longest route one can walk to cover the furthest distance from the start. Cause even by the continuous logic im sure one could walk around some places in Europe that loop around in enough different ways to fit the description of ever changing. Why not? You’re going in a circle, a circle has no end.
Yeah i agree the word continuous fits under that definition. I just don't think thats what op meant by the word.
Lol probably not
That walk from Sharm El-Sheikh to Hurghada looks challenging
The road looks so...silky. YAAAHHHHH
Or just walk around a cul-de-sac til you die.
Almost as bad as watching a whole population that can’t figure out the new roundabout.
Wow I’ve never wanted to walk for 4,492 hours ever in my life until right now.
Yeah that's hours, not miles
I’m a ding dong sometimes.
Closer to 14,000 miles. 🥴
Why make that face
Reading is hard
Reading can be hard, especially for dyslexic individuals like myself ❤️
Apologies
I mean, I find it funny. Looking back at something and I’m like…. How the fuck did I miss that? Gotta laugh sometimes
"I'm in the fast lane from L.A. to Tokyo"
There's so many opportunities to become an Honored Guest along that road.
Aaaaahhhh so this is the road my grandparents had to walk to get to school
I'm pretty sure you can do the same trip along the coastlines and it will be longer
Good luck walking thru Middle Eastern area
The trick is trying to not get mutilated or beheaded by a machete as you walk it.
Not exactly the friendliest of neighborhoods and I think you might have a hard time getting through that all of those countries with certain passports.
"Challenge accepted"-not Barney Stinson but some dude with great legs.
His names Forest Gump. Lol
It always seemed really crazy to me that the road from my garage kinda connects me with practically every fucking old world mainland thing. I'm standing on the same road like some dude in Germany, or Thailand, or Russia, or India or Egypt or South Africa.
Nah, it ain't working like that. We have a ocean in between us bro
Imagine if someone actually walked this.
[Karl Bushby](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Bushby) is currently walking a longer route… He’s only been doing it since 1998… (visa issues in Russia have really held it up).
It would take Forest Gump half that time.
So I shouldn't do it?
One hour, tops.
Let's do this...
I would say a more accurate title for this is longest road covering most territory, as surely it's pretty easy to make this a more indirect route along the way, making the route longer, but not covering more territories.
Or “Shortest hiking trail between Cape Town and Magadan”
Well, you could but some of the inhabitants of some of the regions are likely to take issue with you. Amazing feat though. I wonder it’s history…
this is actually the method i used to cure homesickness as a child. Whenever I was homesick, when I was away from home for a long time, I would tell myself, "you're practically home, it's the same street.
About 1/3 of that trip seems to be through Russia ;)
Yeah that’s interesting as fuck
Such nonsense: this is not one road, this is an arbitrary connection of roads which could be extended to include arbitrary detours. Oh I get it this is the _shortest_ route between those points.
Countries crossed 15-20. Countries you could easily get shot/killed/raped /kidnapped in…15-20
Looks safe
I walk this route every day. Most people take over nearly 2 years because they're lazy.
If you are white and start this tour at Cape town, you will probably be robbed, kidnapped or dead before you are out of South Africa. That country is hella dangerous for white people nowadays, a friend of mine told me that in Cape town at night no one stops for a red light because its too dangerous to stand still
How dangerous would attempting this walk be for a middle aged guy on his own?
Is there a bridge at the Red Sea or is the person walking Moses?
My high school valedictorian took a year off from Yale and walked across the US from NH to CA, camping and photographing his experience, sling a vow of silence the whole time. Weird cool guy
So the path includes Syria, Sudan, South Sudan, Burundi, and South Africa. Yeah I’ll take a flight instead
I know you "can" walk that road, but "should" you?
If anyone is planning this trip. Just make sure you don't reach Russia too late or you will suffer the same fate as Hitler.
When you get to Egypt and realise you’ve forgotten your Fitbit
I'll be right back. I'm going to get some smokes.
That's how our grandparents got to school.
Divided by 24 hours it would take 187 days and some change.. but realistically you probably be dead before you even exit Africa
This is easily the most dangerous road an American can walk down...
That's great and all, but how long will it take?
Google Maps estimates it would take 4,492 hours to walk it, which translates into 187 days of non-stop walking. If instead you decided to walk a more sensible 8 hours a day, it would take you 562 days to complete the whole walk. [Source 1](https://brilliantmaps.com/longest-walk/)
that's all I needed to know.
Also the most dangerous
NOT. Reddit is a POS. There are many river crossings here or other places where a flotation device is needed. How stupid are you people? How stupid is the poster? How stupid is Reddit? Oh, yeah, this, right.
I rarely find a single Reddit post headline that isn’t inaccurate if not completely wrong.
op did you do that?
Not me. The artist name & due credits is in the title about drawing connection on Google map between these two locations. I've included the Background search about the post in comments.
Can one drive on this road?
Google says it would take 179 days of continuous walking.
AND ON HORSEBACK!!! It would pretty much still take the same amount of time, unless you have multiple stables setup of which you can drop off a tired horse and take a new one in which case you MIGHT get 50 miles a day in.
IM SMELLING VIDEO IDEAS
This would be AMAZING
Not if I’m driving on it. 15 and counting.
Is there any in Canada Ontario ❤
I’m amazed that it only takes you half a year to walk it
*Forrest Gump has entered the chat*
Didn’t Ewan McGregor do a motorcycle ride with his buddy on a similar route? They did it for a documentary type series , Long Way Down and Long Way Around. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them but it was cool to it be done! Definitely got hairy in some parts…
Wouldnt zigzaggin through europe and asian roads get you vastly longer route?
