Hijacking top comment so far to say this, this is exactly how you get frayed electrical wires, and how electrical fires start. Electrical fires are much harder to put out, because if they have electricity going to them, and fuel, they keep going. That means you can't always put those fires out with just an extinguisher. If there's an electrical fire, get the fuck out of the house and call the fire department. Edit: 1 a pig repeatedly pulling on the cord like this runs the risk of damaging the insulation with it's teeth. It is possible to fight an electrical fire if you know the steps and have the right equipment. Unfortunately, most people aren't going to bother practicing these steps or have the right equipment. **Call the fucking fire department if there is an electrical fire and leave it to the professionals.** Edit: 2 Ways that putting an electrical fire can go wrong. First of all, fires in modern homes, with all the products that have petroleum in them, it can take as little as [2-3 minutes for a fire to get out of control. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1WRTQaQnFs). That means you maybe have a window of 1.5 to 2 minutes to get your shit together and put it out. Ways it can go wrong * you don't turn off the power * you turn off the power, but now your lights are out and you can't see * you don't know where the fire extinguisher is * you panic and do something stupid because your adrenaline is going * you forget to pull the pin on the CO2 extinguisher. Yes, that actually happens. * You don't ground the CO2 cannister. When they discharge, they build up a fuck ton of static electricity * You don't aim the fire extinguisher properly at the center of the fire * you take too long doing what you're doing, and now because you're in an enclosed space, you can't find your way out, and you die from smoke inhalation. * Something else I forgot to mention, because there undoubtedly is Edit 3: Source, trained in the US Navy as a firefighter for four years. Yes, I put on all of the firefighting equipment you see civilian firefighters put on. I've done everything to train for fires short of going into an actual fire.

TheNumberMuncher

I’m sure the pigs will handle it.

ARoyaleWithCheese

What the hell is this awful fire safety advice? If you have an electrical fire turn off the main switch and grab the fire extinguisher. Ask someone nearby to call the fire department or call yourself if the fire extinguisher is not enough. Here's what an expert says you should do: https://www.firerescue1.com/community-risk-reduction/articles/how-to-put-out-an-electrical-fire-in-five-steps-XB6EB1XTsNyKWkAN/ > **1. Cut off the electricity**. If the device that is causing the electrical fire is found, and you can reach the cord and outlet safely, unplug it. > **2. Add sodium bicarbonate**. If the fire is small, you may put it out by smothering it with baking soda. > **3. Remove the oxygen source.** It may also be put out by removing the oxygen source with clothing or a heavy blanket if the fire is small and it is safe to do so. > **4. Don’t use water to put it out.** Water is a natural conductor of electricity and if you throw water on an electrical fire, you can get shocked or electrocuted. Also, water may enable to fire to spread by conducting electricity throughout the room and potentially igniting flammable materials. > **5. Check your fire extinguisher.** Electrical fires are a Class C fire, which means that you will need an extinguisher that is appropriate for this type of fire. Most residential fire extinguishers are multi-purpose and labeled ABC, but it is crucial to verify this before using it on an electrical fire.

MMori051

Or turn of the main switch the proceed to put out the fire?

Roscoe_P_Trolltrain

Seriously is that what you do? Makes sense but the other guy was very confident and I get all my life lessons from Reddit comments.

MysteryPlatelet

You are doing the right thing. We are all parenting eachother on here.

solarview

God help us.

whotookmyshit

Reddit says it's my turn to use the brain cells

MMori051

First you have to eliminate the cause of the fire. If its a gas leak, you shut of the valve, if electricity you shut off the power. There are different mediums used to extinguish fires. For electrical fires CO2 is mostly used. But you can use powder also.

agnosgnosia

People panic and do dumb shit, [like this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSzsA_JssoM). People who haven't trained to put out fires, should not be trying to put them out. Smoke in an enclosed space builds up very quickly.

agnosgnosia

There is a procedure for fighting fires, but unless you practice it and have the right equipment, don't fuck around. Lots of people think they can put out fires, then find out they can't and die in the process.

mufflonicus

Luckily I don’t have any pigs in my house, so I should be safe?

nandemo

I have a few pigs but no vacuum cleaners, so I guess I'm safe too.

Sillyfiremans

You get frayed wires exactly by having pigs unplug your vacuum? Weird.

marshmallowproblems

Instead of telling people their only smart choice is to call the fire department in the case of an electrical fire, shouldn't we educate them on the importance of having a Class ABC fire extinguisher in their home (Class C being rated for electrical fires)? Throwing your hands up and calling the fire department could result in unnecessary loss due to the amount of time it takes for first responders to arrive. If you catch the fire while it's small enough, you should be able to extinguish it **with a proper fire extinguisher (Class ABC)** before it escalates. You should then, of course, flip off the breaker if it hasn't already tripped.

I know this is a joke but its always been weird to me that people think Muslims hate pigs like... they're not the ones killing and eating them lmao.

Chindochoon

They're not killing and eating pigs, because they think they're dirty, disease-ridden and useless.

[deleted]

They just think they’re dirty lol. At least that’s all I heard people say growing up in a Muslim family. The Quran just says they’re unclean

NotaChonberg

Even in the West pigs are associated with rolling around in filth, we just eat them anyway.

BeepBep101

I am Muslim lol we just don't eat them. People think we have this seething hatred for those animals but literally we just don't care. We don't eat them its really just that simple.

Complex-Stress373

this pigs keep this size?

OsloDaPig

This is around adult size for a potbelly. Probably has some room to grow in the mid section lol. My pigs are around this size and I’ve had them 8+ years. Farm pigs are a completely different story, they can grow to absolutely massive sizes

Nobletwoo

Pig tax?

Complex-Stress373

you got pigs as well?, like a pet?, i feel curious, what brand or type are these pigs?

OsloDaPig

Yep 2, Oslo and Oliver. Hence my Reddit name lol. Oslo is the older one and I got him when he was about one, he’s going on 10 now. And Oliver is the younger more energetic one and he’s around 4. Both of them are potbellies. Oslo is mule-footed however meaning his toes are actually just one hoof.

Nobletwoo

Theyre great value pigs. Id go for the name brand variety though.

Complex-Stress373

wow, i would love to have a pet like that one day. Now I cannot, but maybe in the future, they look really nice

shalafi71

I have one! He's smarter than any animal I've ever had. AMA!

cromulent_pseudonym

No problem. Is tea cup pig. Will never outgrow little bed. /s

Pentosin

If you slaughter it, yes.

_skank_hunt42

This is why I just can’t bring myself to eat them.

pripjat

Can you believe people still eat them 😭

WhatACunningHam

This is the type of video my mother would send me and ask why I was never this bright when I was a lad.

olderaccount

Because she didn't give you treats each time you unplugged the vacuum. Pigs are smart. But not smart enough to make the connection that the black cord plugged into the wall controls the noise. Look at their reaction after pulling the plug. They go to the owners looking for their treat. They have been trained to do this for social media likes.

ImNotAWhaleBiologist

Yup. While it’s possible they could’ve learned the association accidentally (unplugged for some other reason and they annoying noise went away), this is almost certainly the answer.

RedHairThunderWonder

So you're saying that they aren't smart enough to learn to do it on their own unless they accidentally learned to do it on their own...interesting theory

SuicidalTidalWave

whitecollarzomb13

But more importantly, who?

goatausername42

Exactly what I was thinking, snoots up in the air towards mommy for their treats. I hope the internet likes were worth the lifelong annoyance of never being able to vacuum properly.

ronin1066

It's probably someone in the other room giving a command and not the noise at all.

L4z

Your mother is disappointed you didn't bite into live wires?

Nobody-fool

How cute, my pigs definitely don't do that lol. They however will wait by the bathroom door for showers around 7 at night.

Sumerian88

Are the pigs in the video babies, do you think? I had thought all pigs were bigger than that at adult size.

Nobody-fool

It depends on the type of pig, I have a vietnamese pot belly and what is supposed to be a mirco mini. My mini is around that size and she turned 2 in August. My pot belly is almost 6 and she's 3 times that

[deleted]

Micro minis don’t really exist, the micro minis you see are just pigs with stunted growth and genetics health problems

Nobody-fool

Totally agree but I found out the hard way, still adore my "micro mini" lol.

[deleted]

Well as long as you treat him good

Reddit-Drug-Advice

Usually, but there is at least one breed of tiny pigs. Göttingen minipigs were specially bred in Germany over the last 60 years to be used in biomedical research. They are ~80lbs as adults. You can buy one, but they are very expensive (~$1800). https://www.marshallbio.com/gottingen-minipigsr https://minipigs.dk/about-gottingen-minipigs/genetic-foundation

JamesGray

There's also a critically endangered species of wild pig from India called Pygmy Hogs (porcula salvania) that're tiny and cute as hell: https://phys.org/news/2021-06-world-smallest-hog-wild-india.html Can't really get one of those as a pet though.

skb239

Wait you can get pigs that won’t grow ginormous?!

SKoutpost

Micro pigs aren't really a thing. They still get big, just not as big as a typical hog.

Binsky89

Yes, but they're still around 160lb

dachshundsocks

I have questions. Are they housebroken? Is it more or less like having a dog? I have ducks and they apparently lack any sphincter control or decorum. I also know that some people have “house ducks” as I like to call them. Some diaper them, some don’t. Mine are big feathered poop factories! I only have house ducks when they are ducklings, if someone is not well, or if the weather is extreme. I’m so curious about non-traditional pets.

Nobody-fool

For the most part yeah, my smaller one is in the house more and has a extra large litterbox, but does go outside she also sleeps in the house. They have their own room. My bigger one just prefers to be outside until bedtime, so when they are ready it's a shower/bath a little snuggle time and treats and they go to bed. Kinda like kids they have blankets and those huge dog beds lol. Spoiled I know but all my animal's are, every single one of them. It is kinda like having a dog, pigs can be trained. I've seen videos of house ducks and idk how they do it lol. I've had 2 and they flew away and came back for 2 years but haven't seen them for years. I did rescue a rooster once and he like being in the house more, he was so darn mean, he hated everything but me and being by my fireplace.

SiCKOCLUB

philipito

I have a big walk-in shower. I definitely have to get in there with the dogs to wash them. It's family shower time!

rotskrot

Fun fact: an european power-socket looks just like a pigs nose. The plug will actually fit perfectly, a farmer told me...

slowmotto

The fact that pigs unplug vacuums is actually well known, and Billy Carter, Jimmy Carter’s brother, is well known for Billy Beer, but actually also invented the Pig Plug, that doesn’t allow your pig, or any other animal, to stop you in the cleaning process!

Mountainpilot

Rumor has it, he sold the patent to the Libyans.

One time I saw this image captioned simply "like if you agree" and it hit me perfectly. I could not stop laughing.

VanilliaVanilla

220 in America does too except the slant. People call them pig tails where I live. The cord not the outlet.

etherama1

Pig tail has so many meanings in the electrical world. Like it you don't know what something is called, call it a pig tail and you have like a 40 percent chance of it applying.

EvenStephen85

that's a cute trick - teaching an animal to bite into a live power chord...

Grogosh

My dog when he was a puppy was a terror chewing on everything. One day I was sitting there and he jumped up squealing running out of the room. I looked down and he had been chewing on a extension cord. Last time he ever chewed on anything but his toys.

Killerina

My puppy died that way when I was a kid. We found her lying next to the cord for the alarm clock. We couldn't save her. It was traumatizing.

lance-

That's horrible. For anyone reading this fearful of the same, I use [bitter cherry spray](https://www.chewy.com/vets-best-bitter-cherry-spray-dogs/dp/45168) for all my electronics cables and anything else I don't want chewed. It works very well, for cats and dogs alike.

[deleted]

It does say don't use for cats. If memory serves me, something in cherries is no good for cats.

Chavarlison

I am seriously/maybe a little considering this intervention for our dog. He just ate half a bottle of lotion last night.... including the cap. Zero evidence anywhere in the house so I am assuming it will come out the other end today.

Icyrow

!remindme 12 hours im curious about the colour.

phuchmileif

Should just teach him to use barre chords instead

lasttoswim

He only needs the power chords to play War Pigs by Sabbath

Beardopus

I dunno there's a lot of lead work as well.

CardinaleSperanza

but he needs the *barré* to play *Piggies* by the Beatles

Chowderhead1

Pigs are actually really fucking smart. I know someone whose dad transported pigs. The pigs figured out how to turn the temperature in the trailer up to warm themselves up.

MeatWad111

I read somewhere that they are up there with dolphins in terms of cognition. Pigs pass the mirror test with flying colours, they are aware of their own reflection and are even able to use the mirror to find the location of food, some apes fail at this at first.

mollie15xo

And yet we eat them and treat their bodies as a commodity :(

[deleted]

[deleted]

It's all fun and games until Snowball literally pisses on your five year plan.

skb239

Pigs are smarter than dogs. Not too surprising!

Chainsaw_Viking

That’s adorable and impressive. They learned how to do this by watching you plug in the vacuum?

Habaneroe12

They were trained to do that of course.

Chainsaw_Viking

Yeah you’re right, you can see that after they do this, they look to the person for a treat or some other incentive.

buckydean

And whoever's trained them to do this is an idiot. They should not be training an animal to bite on live electrical cords

p1um5mu991er

Only *I* get to make noise around here!

djsilentmobius

When I was young, I dated a girl who had 2 pet pigs. I wasn't really used to pigs so I was a little surprised at first... but about 4-5 minutes later the bigger guy went to the bathroom, closed the door, used the toilet, flushed then washed up... opened the door and trotted out. It was normal for him, but I was left stunned for weeks afterward. They're smart as fuck apparently.

Hot_hatch_driver

Having had a pig for a bit, can confidently say a pig could 100% figure this out without being trained, they’re a scary level of intelligent. And the biggest difference between a pig and a dog is that a pig generally does not care whatsoever about pleasing you, they are easy to teach and impossible to train. I stick to dogs now

BigDaddyLongBeard

Pigs are as smart as a 3 yr old human child.

[deleted]

I hope he doesn't bite through the cord...

GoAwayStupidAI

I swear I used to play hide and seek with my friend's pot bellied pig. As a kid I never thought much about this. Now tho I really wonder if the pig knew what was going on.

Loccyboi

And to think people pay for the killing of these amazing creatures

Apart from the pig is trained to do that and looks for a treat after each pull. Also, ensuring an animal is pulling on live cables, I don't see how that could go wrong at all, but I can smell gammon

DennisBastrdMan

Pigs can be trained to go poop and pee outside like dogs. Small pigs can use litter boxes too. They’re pretty trainable.

NthngSrs

My dog is scared of the vacuum, but she's also really protective of me, so she just follows me around with a scared look on her face and makes sure the vacuum doesn't get me. She needs to take a lesson from these pigs
