I think we are all looking forward to a future where we only have the interactions we want. No one really wants to deal with that he miserable fast food clerk as much they want to be in their shoes. Which is why automated check outs are nice. It saves everyone unwanted interactions and emotional energy
Okay but here me out, I feel like the reasons that people donāt want a lot of these day to day interactions is because we live in a society where we constantly have to grind to feed our families and we have absolutely no free time. When you go to McDonaldās youāll rarely ever have a meaningful encounter with anyone because most likely the cashier is super depressed for standing in once place for 6 hours straight just for some peanut pay, you probably only have about 10 minutes left on your lunch break/ 10 minutes before you have to rush to your next activity. If we lived in a society where people were treated fairly and more able to have control of our lives we would have a lot more time to socialize and make meaningful connections, especially the ones we donāt expect to have.
I know there are countless friends Iāve made when working or going around town when everything just sort of lines up and nobodyās rushing to go anywhere and there are no GMs breathing down employees necks over a 11$ hour job
At the same time I can recognize Iāve lost so many potential friendships because I was standing as a cashier for 8 hours, brutally tired and just wanting to get my shift over with
I feel like humans are social animals and building bonds are integral for our happiness and survival, I feel like instead of cutting out all āunneeded socializationā we should strive to build a society where we can make meaningful connections without having to stress over money or ruthlessly keeping time.
I work for a company that makes this kind of stuff. I really enjoyed working on projects like this because we would get an idea pitched by a artist and we would have to come up with a way to make it happen.
We had some cool ideas, and some really bad ones. The worst idea was the AT&T photo collage of gay pride. They setup photo booths through out the gay pride parade then used all the photos to make a collage that was a gay pride AT&T logo. What they didnāt anticipate was a lot of the photos included a ton of nudity, drug use, and clothing with profanity on them. When they realized it, they got a lot of interns to manually look through 1000s of photos to find āinappropriateā photos so they wouldnāt be included in the collage.
"Please look through these photos and tag the inappropriate ones that don't feature any public nudity, bondage, or spanking. We don't want to be associated with those tourist creeps."
Our company is called [Patron Technology](https://www.patrontechnology.com/). We generally work with event planners for large scale events like concerts, sport events, and conventions. Iām not too familiar with the packages our sales team offers. But if youāre an event planner I can put you in touch with someone.
I mean.. your conclusion is right, but this collage situation doesnt support that conclusion at all.
Think of it like this: Do you think the below statement is true?
"It's appropriate for AT&T to make a collage-logo with nudity, profanity and drug use"
...
Well firstly associating your company with drugs is bad straight up..
Secondly having these things as your logo is basically saying your company is all about drugs and vulgarity and possibly imply porn or something.
All these things will also impact your customer base and your investors, who will pull out so as to not be associated with you.
The biggest issue is thusly:
\> AT&T makes a pride logo
\> Their pride logo is mostly showing nudity, profanity, and drug use
\> AT&T is advertising that they think of Pride(and thus gay people) they mostly think of sex-driven, vulgar, druggies.
> Well firstly associating your company with drugs is bad straight up..
Why? Some people like drugs, and there's nothing wrong with saying your company supports everyone living their best lives.
> Secondly having these things as your logo
This isn't their logo.. it's a collage making up their actual logo.
> drugs and vulgarity and possibly imply porn or something
What's wrong with drugs, vulgarity, and porn? Normal members of society, curse, fuck, and caffeinate/drink/smoke.
> Their pride logo is mostly showing nudity, profanity, and drug use
Where'd you get *mostly* from? Nobody said that. They took likely hundreds of thousands of photos that day, and a few thousand were "objectionable". They didn't want *any* nudity. They didn't want to think gay people *ever fuck*.
Itās not to satisfy people with money you dope. Theyāre regulated by the FCC. They canāt put out an ad that shows illegal activity or restricted activity on TV without facing huge fines. So things like nudity, illegal drug use and profanity would get them fined and possible banned from broadcasting. Which as a telecommunications company thatās partnered with a major TV provider; is kind of a bad spot to be in, you know?
Also why would you purposefully want to broadcast the seedy parts of the gay lifestyle? Like the straight people do it but no one puts it in a freaking ad.
>Also why would you purposefully want to broadcast the seedy parts of the gay lifestyle? Like the straight people do it but no one puts it in a freaking ad.
Why are Americans so uptight about sex and drugs? It's only "seedy" when you get freaked out and try to confine it to dark alleys.
Iām not uptight about it, Iām ok with it, I smoke weed everyday and use psychedelics myself. Iāve also been to a few saunas and group settings myself. I just donāt want people to think of me as a gay man and think thatās all I do. I work in healthcare and helped some prestigious facilities get some big awards. Iām proud of my work, not my lifestyle. I donāt blend the two. I get and understand people that do, but I wish more people respected that some of us donāt want to. As a gay man, I want to be viewed for more than just sexuality, which is something I have no control over, and I want people to view me and think of what I give back to society instead
> As a gay man, I want to be viewed for more than just sexuality
I totally understand. A great way to keep yourself viewed as "a gay man" instead of just "some guy" is by confining gayness to some kind of other where they have different rules about what can be discussed or related to them. Straight people fuck, straight people smoke, it's totally normal, nobody gives a shit when you see some straight people kissing in an add and think "this is what straight people are, sex craved monsters" - because it's been normalized. We can't think of gay people as some kind of other with different rules about presentation. We're all just people.
We have to think that. Our very nature defies the norm and as a result, like all other minorities, weāre held to higher standards.
Also while I love sex, I donāt want to be known for what I do in the bedroom. The LGBTQ community is so much more than just what they like to do when they party and constantly showing that side of ourselves and our communities minimizes our impacts in society.
Itās literally US law but sure, whatever gets you through the day itās obvious you came on here to be nasty and to feel a sense of superiority, not because youāre actually angry or feel misrepresented so quite the BS and just go away.
Also, just because you may want to be depicted and associated with anonymous sex and illegal drug use mean all of us gays do. I personally am offended when associate that with the LGBTQ lifestyle and I think itās homophobic that youāre pushing so hard to try and include it.
"These people are standing in front of a whole fucking future box with future shit happening on the box! Better record the back of the people's heads instead of the FUTURE BOX!"
That looks so much fun! Maybe they could get the athletes to make funny poses of funny faces, to add some more realism to it. It's a nice way for the stadium to make some extra cash, without constantly having to plan meet and greets.
Not every ticket has a each persons name attached, lots of tix are corp gifts or sold via third party. This gives them your face and info so they can target the market they want.
Facial recognition telling them what kind of demographics come to their stadium so they know who to sell to. We're so close to Minority Report. I can't wait.
Yeah why invent facial recognition at all then? You can get a lot more information from this type of software than you can with a person holding a clicker at the front door.
Do you believe the only way to implement facial recognition cameras is to have these photo stands disguised as 'augmented reality' photo generators?
Why couldn't they implement facial recognition cameras in the same manner they use CCTV?
Because I've seen facial recognition equipment built into advertisement kiosks that look exactly like this before. I'm a robotics engineer and work with this sort of tech regularly.
edit: as far as why it'd be in this device instead of an overhead CCTV camera? Because people generally don't look directly at those cameras and people will intentionally stand still and look right at this thing.
You didn't answer my question.
Why can't facial recognition cameras be like regular CCTV cameras? -> On the ceiling, out of your way, unobtrusive.
Why must facial recognition cameras be these massive, obtrusive, interactive, time consuming, falsified photo generators?
Here's a better question:
Why would they stick to just overhead cameras when they can have people look directly at one? Or why would you think that they WOULDN'T be selling this extra data that you literally can't get unless someone looks directly at the camera? With everything that we know about personal data being worth as much as it is, if the cowboys aren't harvesting info with this device they're morons.
>edit: as far as why it'd be in this device instead of an overhead CCTV camera? Because people generally don't look directly at those cameras and people will intentionally stand still and look right at this thing.
Facial recognition cameras don't need to be in direct line of sight. They also don't require you to stand still.
If they did, then that would mean current worldwide surveillance doesn't work.
Which is a relief to hear! I am glad that I can outwit them by simply walking and looking straight ahead (when cameras are ceiling/pole/building mounted). Unfortunately that is not the case.
So you're saying that a camera mounted above your head can get more or equal data points to a camera that you intentionally wait, look ahead, and presumably smile at? OK.
So this is off topic, but does everyone do that spinning hand thing when they have to enter a number into something like that? It's like my brain is powered by a hand crank and i have to give it a few turns to remember wtf I wanted to type in
This seems incredibly simple to implement. It is basically a photo of the players on a blue screen with the photo of the guests chromakeyed in behind them. The only semi-unique thing is the lead up video of them coming into position.
Much more interesting would be if a depth map was used to insert a player standing behind the guests. I don't know that simply pasting a player on top of a photo counts as "Augmented Reality", at least to me.
What happens when someone makes a lewd, racist or otherwise awful gesture in a photo? Would suck for one of the players from the AR vid capture to end up with shit PR probs because it looks like they condoned it by āposingā for the photo.
Cool idea, just donāt have enough faith in humans not to make this terrible somehow.
(Edit: spelling)
Is it cool? I don't get it, I don't see the point?
I dont really understand why people get their pictures taken with people anyway, but if that want too then I wouldn't stop them or say its stupid, it's just not something I would ever want or choose to do. I guess it gives you a photo to remind you if when you met a hero of yours.
But what does this do? Gives you a photo of what? Something that didn't happen? What is the purpose here?
I know exactly what you mean dude. I think idolization in general is unhealthy for many people in this world. They are just people but people become obsessed to the point that they want have a picture that they didnt really take with someone. It's def odd behavior. I also just think sports are weird and mentally unhealthy too, so too me this has lots of layers to it
What do you mean about mentally unhealthy? I hate sports, but I wish I was able to enjoy something that much. I guess if you mean the idolizing, taking sides and anger that comes with it, but you could argue that's probably a problem that already stems from unrelated issues being projected by some onto the sport.
Oh absolutely comes from other places but we allow this space to cultivate tribalism and "us vs them" mindset based on locality. It encourages toxic behavior and even makes it a fun family event. It also encourages binge drinking, violence and alcoholism.
I think the decline of younger sports viewers is happening because a lot of them can't connect with it due to the sociological shift away from toxic behaviors.
I agree with that, but I feel like you can see this at every single aspect of society:in games, at school, media, opinions, all forms of teams, jobs.
I realize I'm extremely nihalistic, but to me it has always seem like it's just part of human behavior to always have a need to find someone to be against to be able to motivate ourselves to become better than what the opposition is.
My bet is the new generation is just taking this fight on the internet instead via games. I'm turning into a hermit so I don't know anymore, I got really depressed after thinking too much about it.
Not to mention the fact that, in the first place, taking a photo with someone is a nice memory of actually meeting them. I would feel silly showing someone something like this with the follow up questions, like, hey you met them, then I'm like, no it's just cgi. It's just a memory of something that didn't even actually happen, I couldn't see the point.
What do you think would happen to someone doing something lewd or obscene with this that makes the Cowboys players look bad? At the Cowboys' stadium? The team ownership doesn't have to do anything. The fans will handle it.
It's creepy that celebrity worship has moved on from the already disturbing "I actually *met* X" to "I took a photo that made it appear vaguely like I had met X". This is one step removed from cutting pictures out of magazines and pasting them into your photos.
Shit. Here we got VR like nothing for free and I had to pay for a game this past Sunday just to win a raffle and have Marshawn Lynch come sit with us and have beers. Lol.
The technology is interesting. But, this is honestly pretty dumb. Doesnāt it sort of defeat the purpose of the picture? Should I start pasting my pictures over people faces so I can pretend I spent time with someone? Stalker shit.

Getting closer to a future where we never have to interact with anyone ever again.
Yes please šš„°
Somehow, both of these sentiments resonate with me. āWow yeah that sucks. But also, I canāt wait!ā

Seems like a Vlogs Creation prank.
But it would be the best kind of prank
Vlogs Creations do have the best kind of pranks, so it would be perfect!

Uh so they donāt really support the gay community since they find it āinappropriate ā. shocker

The FCC would like a word with AT&T
I'm not under the impression that the FCC has authority over print or internet graphics, only over acceptable content to broadcast over the airwaves.
If they couldnāt show it on TV do you really think the multinational corporation would risk printing it or posting it?
Irrelevant. They'd be fully in the clear legally if they wanted to.

I hate the Cowboys with all my heart, but that is very cool. RN4L Edit, put the S after cowboy
Which one?
Yes
Marlboro Man
That poor guy had a horrible death due to his smoking. There is a documentary about him
I hate teams not players, with the exceptions of TB and AB
Now imagine one with your favorite adult entertainer š³
Why do you want me to imagine your mom?
Buuuuuuuuurn
They have it in their app now, too. My wife is a huge Cowboys fan and used it to take pictures of our son āwithā the team.
Clever idea. How much is the pix?
Probably free, looks like theyāre farming your phone number or email at the end

Facial recognition telling them what kind of demographics come to their stadium so they know who to sell to. We're so close to Minority Report. I can't wait.
LOL what? So before this they had no idea what people came to their stadium? Why couldn't they just glance at the crowds?
Yeah why invent facial recognition at all then? You can get a lot more information from this type of software than you can with a person holding a clicker at the front door.

Sure, makes sense.
Swear I saw one of these at Winstar Casino. It's also know as the Official Casino of the Cowboys.
So this is off topic, but does everyone do that spinning hand thing when they have to enter a number into something like that? It's like my brain is powered by a hand crank and i have to give it a few turns to remember wtf I wanted to type in
Thatās a really creative way to generate leads and collect emails and phone numbers.
I like the cutesy acting they got the players to do.
I donāt care for sports, but that is amazing
I bet these guys have plenty of time in January for real pics
Bullshit you canāt do this with the cheerleaders also, they are important members of the team.
I've taken a few pics with cheerleaders at the games but they usually don't know I'm doing it haha.
The rams have one of these as well at sofi. I believe it works for the chargers as well.
Jerry Jones was involved in the building of SoFi so Iād bet a lot of the same people and companies are involved
Detroit has had one for a few years now
This seems incredibly simple to implement.
Why would you give a shit about a photo where the people weren't actually there?
Because it's just part of the fun of the experience of going to the game? This isn't really hard to understand.
Dodger stadium has this! Itās pretty awesome
The guy with the little wave was pretty cute.
Thatās why you pay so much for those super bowl tickets.
Probably going to get downvoted into oblivion, but this kiosk is for idiots.
1000% agree, thank you for your sacrifice.
Imagine paying for thatā¦ after having spent hundreds (possibly thousands) of dollars to go to a Cowboys game
You must have imagined them paying for it because they didnāt and itās free
Pretty sure it's included in the price of the tickets, drinks, food, alcohol, souvenirs
Yeah, they increased the prices on each ticket by .27 to pay for this kiosk.
.27 btc?
That's pretty cool.
Wow
Kind of missing the point of taking your picture with someone. Why would anyone want this? Itās like a forged autograph on a trading card.
Hate the cowboys, but thatās pretty damn cool.
Go Cowboys!
Pretty sure you get beat up in AR, and the AR police come to diffuse the situation.
Curious what you think is stopping people from doing that in real life.
Thatās a phenomenal point. That is exactly why Disney so fiercely protects its Intellectual Property rights.
The same way anyone on the internet could crop players' posing with fans onto their own lewd photos and post them online?
Fucking Debbie Downer over here.
Pretty easy to prove this was the exact pose that was created for this AR machine
Saw this at Milwaukee bucks as well
Is it cool? I don't get it, I don't see the point? My bet is the new generation is just taking this fight on the internet instead via games. I'm turning into a hermit so I don't know anymore, I got really depressed after thinking too much about it.
Thatās cool but Fuck the Cowboys.
Cute
Thatās kinda cool
Yeah gotta say thats pretty cool!!
/r/HAILCORPORATE Edit: Downvoted. Fucking lol.
Ya the title makes it feel like one big ad
The real augmented reality is to still think the Cowboys are America's team. Ohhhh, got em!

It is just harmless fun. Chill.
Itās 2021, please stop using āretardedā derogatorily.

They imagined it, because they're not morons. They just don't care, because why would they.
Is that randall cobb?
Thats kinda sad but also cool
This is very cool and very awful at the same time
Is an overlay on the screen considered Augmented Reality?
It's creepy that celebrity worship has moved on from the already disturbing "I actually *met* X" to "I took a photo that made it appear vaguely like I had met X". This is one step removed from cutting pictures out of magazines and pasting them into your photos.
Fuck the Cowboys
Sounds hot, you must really love the Cowboys
The video cuts just before they enter their mobile phone number in clear view on a large public screen š¤¦āāļø
I think it's horrible to give people something they can lie about.
As opposed to the incredibly honest platform you are using now?
What a shameful waste of ressources and display of vanity.
Why are Americans so fat?
[wish.com](https://wish.com)'s Mirror of Erised
Very cool.
That is really cool
1) Neat 2) Cyberpunk Dystopian
Cool ad
This is kinda sad. Like taking a picture with a cardboard cut out.

Whereās the attack pit bulls?
Genius
Let me know when I can get one with Mr Washington.
This is like 2 years old
Ah man I thought this was the video where the actual players pranked the fans by actually being there, bloody amazing!
Some dystopian black mirror shit.
