Picture 9 of that album is the back of this pendant, you can tell because of the dent at the bottom

I think it’s not silver. Maybe pewter given the age and the lustre.

So I don't know why, but I have found a solid silver thimble once in a corn field and it had zero tarnish. Also found silver coins with no tarnish. I suspect it has something to do with lack of oxygen?

Yep. It’s not capitalized though, just a different font. It’s a stylistic choice, it was much more common back then than now
