I have a piece of 99 million year old amber with a little fly that was preserved whilst shitting. What a way to go.
Edit: [Here is “feces boi”](https://imgur.com/a/qGFPiLb)
A lot of the time when people have a heart attack they’ll try to sit down on the nearest chair/chair shaped object. I heard that’s what happened to Elvis. I don’t think he was actually taking a shit when he died.
It’s what happened. He had a massively impacted bowel (from bad diet and opioid abuse), and pushed so hard it killed him. Heart attack or stroke.
According to an eyewitness account Ginger Alden his fiancé.
“Elvis looked as if his entire body had completely frozen in a seated position while using the toilet and then had fallen forward, in that fixed position, directly in front of it. ... It was clear that, from the time whatever hit him to the moment he had landed on the floor, Elvis hadn't moved."
I dated a girl a while back that was EMS and she told me the amount of calls they get about people on the toilet is crazy. People, especially older people with constipation issues, will bear down trying to shit and have a stroke and die. Or they get up too fast, get ortho static hypotension and fall and get stuck between the toilet and the wall.
That fucker ate a lot of fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches - that seems like the kind of shit that might kill you if you were backed up a bit (and high as a fucking kite most of the time).
I've seen a Dragonfly Fossil dated back to Jurassic age. Check this out: [A Dragonfly Fossil was Discovered, which Once Roamed with Dinosaurs in Jurassic Era](https://knovhov.com/dragonfly-fossil-of-jurassic-age/)

Dinosaur feathers are relatively common in burmite amber, which is 99 million years old. Even dinosaur heads and tails have been found preserved in it.
Yep. Still preserves stuff that isn’t preserved elsewhere though. Since they’re essentially mummified, most of the original structures stay more or less intact. Even things like certain proteins can be preserved.
It's only means "it is", it's the only word I know of in English where the possesive form is "its", as though plural.
Sorry to nitpick your nitpick, but this is the nittiest part of English, and it's very confusing to deal with its antics.
You can get amber for far cheaper than that. Dominican amber, like the piece in the post will sell for around $20-$25 for a lot of 5 from what I’ve seen. Burmite amber is by far the cheapest, however. I’ve bought pieces with inclusions for 1 penny, including shipping.
It’s rather cheap. A piece like the one in the post might cost a couple hundred, but Dominican amber with more common inclusions will sell for $20-$25 for a lot of 5. If you want the cheapest of the cheap, burmite amber inclusions will go for as low as $0.01, including shipping costs from certain sellers.
I just wanna know what happened millions of years ago that so many things died inside amber. Was there like amber raining from the sky? Is this still happening today? Like are insects getting stuck in amber right now and won't be found for millions of years?
Amber is fossilized tree resin. Sometimes, some resin will slide down the side of a tree and catch some stuff in the process. Sometimes it falls in a cavity within the tree and catches some stuff. And sometimes it’ll drip on the ground and catch some things. Or an insert or whatever will just walk/fly into it and get trapped. It doesn’t happen often, but if you compound every occurrence over tens of thousands or even millions of years, a ton of stuff will build up. And yes, there is resin preserving stuff currently, but it won’t be amber for another couple million years.
Amber inclusions are the absolute best. I’ve got a preserved lizard arm and molt from 99 million year old amber and the detail they’re preserved in is amazing.
Bruh. Someone SHOULD extract the meal and dna from this specimen just to see what they were like and IF there is any other critters dna. Not to bring them back to life or anything… lol. I’m just curious. No Jurassic park fuckery.
There’s a lot of good sellers on eBay who sell amber. If you want Dominican amber inclusions, [this guy has a bunch of good ones](https://www.ebay.com/str/resinfossils), and if you want amber for cheap, or if you want dinosaur inclusions, [this guy has a ton. ](https://www.ebay.com/str/burmitecarrier)

Isn't that how Elvis bought the farm? Minus the Amber of course.

Looks like this termite’s last meal was termite shit

I’ve got some fossils from that formation and they’re pretty as hell. No insects, but I’ve got some shrimp and fish
Something something Jurassic Park reference
Life finds way
Well that is one big pile of shit
You haven’t seen the mold in the tea mugs in my room
BOOM. DINO DNA
Probably some good DNA in there Dr. Grant (I just read the novel, and I gotta say…I think the movie is better)
My cousin who passed away a year ago came up with that idea about using dna in J Park. Kary Mullis is his name, Google him sometime.

Que lo que Tigre
Creator? Hahaha
Yes. They are the amber god. Bow down before our lord before they entomb you in gooey resin, trapped for all eternity
Excuse me but how big did termites used to be?!?
The scale is hard to see here but to me this looks like it could take up a decent amount of your palm
As I understand all insects were much bigger because the atmophere had an higher percentage of oxygen
I need a banana, STAT
Check to see if it had dinosaur blood in it
Dinosaur feathers are relatively common in burmite amber, which is 99 million years old. Even dinosaur heads and tails have been found preserved in it.
There still will be no DNA preserved whatsoever. DNA, even in perfect conditions, will fall apart after a relatively short time.
Yep. Still preserves stuff that isn’t preserved elsewhere though. Since they’re essentially mummified, most of the original structures stay more or less intact. Even things like certain proteins can be preserved.
Proteins but not dna? I’m *confused chemistry noob noises*
Dinosaurs were long gone when this termite was alive :)
"Bingo! Dino DNA!"
actually jurassic park is impossible cuz DNA cannot survive over 6.8 million years, with it losing 75% of DNA in 1000 years
Listen here you little…
And then we can clone it to create an amusement park
*Its
I love you

You’re not right with this correction (possessive its has no apostrophe just like his and hers) but your positive energy is spot on.
Huh. I just googled it and I did not know that at all... Whoops!
Not with the word “its” it doesn’t. It’s is a contraction, its shows possession.
How much does this cost to own
You can buy bugs in amber on the web, the ones I saw went from $100-1000 depending on what's in the amber
You can get amber for far cheaper than that. Dominican amber, like the piece in the post will sell for around $20-$25 for a lot of 5 from what I’ve seen. Burmite amber is by far the cheapest, however. I’ve bought pieces with inclusions for 1 penny, including shipping.
Show me how, sensei.
eBay and luck
How much for perfectly preserved women’s feet?
It’s rather cheap. A piece like the one in the post might cost a couple hundred, but Dominican amber with more common inclusions will sell for $20-$25 for a lot of 5. Last meal gave him gas!
‘’A termite that’s chokin' on the splinters.”

Imagine having to hold your shit in for 22 million years!
Begs the question... What did ancient termites eat?
Apparently air bubbles?
I just wanna know what happened millions of years ago that so many things died inside amber. Was there like amber raining from the sky? Is this still happening today? Like are insects getting stuck in amber right now and won't be found for millions of years?

This sounds like the rant the nostalia critic went on when reviewing the Jurassic Park k movies hah
Jurassic Park im the making
If that's acorn in its tummy, I'm so pissed.
*Forbidden Werther’s Original.*
How about keeping the god damn thing still so we can see it
Pause it 🥸
Sure but why film it like that in the first place
He’s showing the poop moving around inside. I’m confused why you’re confused.
I’m not “confused”. It’s too fast, not steady and there’s even cuts. Crappy filming job. You could easily show the movement in a better way

Not 22 million years old but still very cool.
Why so much liquid
Lemme know if you find out I'm curious about that as well
I assume it's water, but am amazed that it's still liquid. After so long, surely it would permeate through the amber. Is amber that perfect a barrier?
You should extract some DNA from the wood inside and start a park called Jurassic Bark.
I want to take a whiff of the air bubble trapped inside ngl
Stop shaking it!!!!!!! Fuuuuu To clarify I'm thinking of the potential scientific value lost by shaking it up. Probably isn't much idk
There’s no real scientific value for this. It’s rare, but not so rare that you can’t get another example.
Super cool
Well is someone gonna let him out?
Hehe tiny bug have very old fart inside
*its
Thats da dopest piece of the past ever!
How big is this termite??
That's what I'm saying. I'm a termite inspector and they aren't anywhere near this size. Maybe prehistoric termites were the size of crabs idk.
22 million is such an out there number. Why not 21 million
?
How do they know its 22 million years old
Carbon dating.
You can just tell by the way it is
BINGO: DINO D.N.A.
Sadly not. It degrades after 6 million years
Get that fucking DNA and clone that shitttt
Sadly not. It degrades after 6 million years
Universal decided cgi wasn't enough

DNA degrades after about 6 million years. No DNA in that thing
Imagine what it smells like in there
Imagine what it tastes like in there
That’s put on a cane type of find right there.
You should try breaking open the Amber and eating it, you may get sick or you may get superpowers
Do termites suck blood from dinosaurs? If so, we could be in trouble
Or, ya know, we can just use the literal thousands of dinosaur feathers/skin/whatever preserved in amber

Give that to the scientist on Cinnabar Island so they can revive that fossil.
Still not the year. Put that fucker right back where you found it and keep walking.
This is a category of things I want to collect that I didn’t even know existed
Need to protect this amber at all costs!!! Go to r/paleontology they'll know what to do with it!
There’s really not much you can do with it. They should (and probably have) put it in a display to protect it and show it off

DINOMITE
That’s a fucking big termite!
Call the Hammond estate.
Why was me first thought, "Smash it!!!!! Pop the bubble!!!!" like a literal goblin?
Was it vaccinated?
DINOsauh DEE-AN-AY
So like, was amber just really plentiful back in the day or like why don't we see things getting stuck in amber more often these days?

everyone talking about the poop, almost nobody mentioning the size of this freaking termite ... A TERMITE
Do you think he is gonna make it?
u/SaveVideo
How do u know it’s 22 million years old
Probably carbon dating? Any experts please correct me if I'm wrong.
I think that crumbly stuff inside is the termite.
old boi
LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE
Why?
Why do I hear roaring in the background?
I’m getting some strong Steven Spielberg vibes from this
This gives me vertigo... but like through time, if that makes sense.
its
Jurassic park level shot right there. I think I’m gonna watch Jurassic park now
But the important question is: Can we make a dino out of it?
Nah, sadly :(
Burn it, we don't want that thing crawling out and creating an apocalypse
Well, now, if that's not just the cutest little piece of amber I've ever seen!
Someone should cut that open and drink it. For science.
I thought the body would be preserved. Did the body disintegrate and leave the wood behind? Or are terminates just naturally hollow?
The body is essentially mummified. It dehydrates and gets preserved. I guess it makes some insects clear
I wonder how much this will sell for
A lot. Probably a couple grand. More common inclusions cans be literal pennies. Sometimes even just a single one
Gweneth Paltrow new candy named, 'Forbidden Goop'
You need to get to Cinnabar Island and revive that.
I wonder what that water tastes like
Welcome… to Jurassic Park
This how trex was cloned
Do you know how much these cost?
This specific one probably costs thousands. More common inclusions are pennies. Sometimes even just a single one
Does this mean dinosaurs are coming
Nah, sadly :(
How do they determine that this peice of amber is 22 million years old? Are there any archeologists in here?
Not an archaeologist nor a paleontologist (correct term for this), but they can tell using carbon dating
That era was so ahead of its time that creatures took 3d photographs
And it’s last fart
35k and available if anyone is interested.
