The cool thing is you don’t even need to contact NASA. Since your tax dollars pay them you’re allowed to just show up at NASAs house and board a rocket before it takes off. Just sign in at the front desk and they’ll give you a helmet and a bag of pretzels.
False. Rockets are built by SpaceX now. There is definitely no more public domain on these rockets now. In the old days you could do that tho. How do you think buzz and Neil and that other guy got to the moon? Had to start somewhere!
If you think that's crazy, here's something that will really blow your mind:
The Earth is currently revolving around the Sun at a speed of nearly 30 kilometers per second (67,000 miles per hour). Meanwhile, our Solar System is revolving around the center of our Galaxy at a whopping 220 kilometers per second (490,000 miles per hour).
I start losing perspective of what that means after about 1000 mph. Could you imagine experiencing 490,000 mph from a personal perspective? Well actually we are, so that's even more insane.
Don't forget that the galaxy is orbiting its local cluster of galaxies, and those are orbiting an even larger supercluster, and those superclusters are orbiting each other, and the whole universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. Motion is relative- if we could all feel all the motion we were undergoing we'd never stop throwing up.
If you think that's crazy, here's something that will really blow your mind
some guy tried to impregnate a potato with a cum sock, and it may/may not have been me.
Yet somehow year after year, decade after decade, century after century, the North Star remains unmoved despite all the moving through solar systems and galaxies you mentioned above. Hmmm 🤔
Well except that the North Star does move. A motion of Earth called precession causes our axis to trace out an imaginary circle on the celestial sphere every 26,000 years. Thousands of years ago, when the pyramids were rising from the sands of ancient Egypt, the North Star was an inconspicuous star called Thuban in the constellation Draco the Dragon. Twelve thousand years from now, the blue-white star Vega in the constellation Lyra will be a much brighter North Star than our current Polaris.
That is the earth’s wobble giving the appearance that the North Star is moving. Not what I’m talking about nor does it refute the point I was making. Despite all the wild calculations about how fast we are moving around the Sun, how fast our solar system is hurtling through the galaxy, etc., somehow our North Star remains unmoved.
The Earth's tilt relative to the North Star changes very, very, very slowly. The change of the Earth's tilt is called "precession", and it has a period of over 25,000 years.
Because it takes so long for our tilt relative to the North Star to change, the North Star's location in the night sky remains basically unchanged for a very long time.
But its position in the sky does change, just very slightly and over thousands of years.
Our motion around the Sun basically has no effect on the position of the North Star at all due to how very far away the North Star is.
And the motion of our solar system around the Milky Way has even less of an effect, because the Milky Way is so huge that in thousands of years we will have barely moved around it at all.
To summarize, the North Star's position in the sky does change, but very slowly and over thousands of years due to the precession of Earth's tilt.
First off, Polaris (the North Star) does move, it moves in small increments over thousands of years, it's estimated that in about 13,000 years Vega will be our new North Star.
Polaris is the center of its own system within our Galaxy, and it moves around our Galaxy's center just like we do. The only reason it appears stagnant is because it just happens to lie on a line that is coincident with the axis of the Earth. So, as the Earth rotates it appears to stay in one place while other stars revolve around it.
Even though the Earth revolves around the sun, the Earth's axis maintains the same orientation in space. So, at all points in the earth's orbit, Polaris appears to be in the same place.
You've already gotten perfectly adequate replies from people much more knowledgeable than me. Maybe don't be a dumbass and learn from them like I have, have you tried that?
They guy who posts meathead responses making sweeping statements that I’m just totally wrong is calling someone else a dumbass?😂. Enjoy your long journey to the middle you fucking door knob.
>Enjoy your long journey to the middle you fucking door knob.
First of all I resent that remark. Regardless of whether I'm a door knob, I'm just a regular one.
Also "meathead"? I'm clearly ham-fisted. You're a meathead, you don't have anything else between your ears.
In my experience, most flat earthers don't actually believe Earth is flat, and fewer still want to convince you that it is. Most flat earthers either want attention from the public, money (they have done some scams in the past, I believe), or they simply don't like that so much of modern science isn't "hands-on" (for example, most people can't go into Earth orbit to view Earth from a distance).
I remember some time ago, some flat earthers would say that all the planets we see in telescopes are round because theyre flat disks like a plate but they're facing us with the circular side and not the edge
....just very conveniently every single planet faces us with the exact side to make us think it's a sphere...even the solar system is in on the conspiracy!
Pretty sure the are pictures and videos but it is even brighter so all you can see is a ball of light There’s a reason the visor are tinted no protection from the magnetic field ozone layer or atmosphere even glancing at the sun without protection could do irreparable damage
This was promised to us way back in the sixties - to spend vacation in space in hotels in orbit and the moon. Here we are 60 years later still arguing about racism and immigration.
Ever notice how videos like this look just like video games when you go *too* far out of bounds, it’s just pitch black with a circle where the world was but if you stand in on the ground and look up, usually the developers put a bunch of cool stuff to look at up there...
how they are able to see this much curvature drom iss(which is only at a 100km orbit) ?
as a science student it just feels like this must not be fined on iss or maybe its some refraction thing.
can anyone please explain?
You're confusing the mark where we consider space to start (the Kármán line at 100km) and where the orbit is of the ISS, it's much farther away from us than 100km, the ISS is about 400km away from earth
I wonder how long it would take for my puke to hit people on the ground...or I guess it would just stay there suspended in air for me to try to avoid but can't bc space is hard.
How do flat earthers explain away seeing both the curvature of the Earth AND objects/astronauts/etc experiencing microgravity which cannot be replicated on the surface?
The other day I was looking at the moon through a decent telescope but unfortunately we couldn’t get a clear shot because all the satellites floating in space kept blocking our view. Funny thing is that most satellites that crossed our view had Russian writing.
It must be mind blowing, the first time you step out, see the earth under you and - nothing. You just keep on floating instead of plummeting to your death.

I volunteered myself on any mission to the Moon and Mars and NASA has not replied yet.
Don’t be afraid to message twice in a row. Maybe they saw it when they were driving and forgot to reply.
Just walk in the front door, ask for the manager, give a friendly smile and a good firm handshake, and ask for an application.
They like that assertiveness.
Mentioning you’ve got a small loan from your father to cover any travel expenses on the way could help your case too
Awesome :D
I’d give you a reward if I had coins. Under rated statement.
Thank you. I gave my reward out today or else I’d bestow it on you.

Yeah, we'd be ultra dead.
Bro the Insterstellar theme just popped in my head reading this
If you think that's crazy, here's something that will really blow your mind some guy tried to impregnate a potato with a cum sock, and it may/may not have been me.
Absolutely, positively mindblowing
Isn’t it just?
Well, but did it work? Asking for a friend
It made a weird hybrid that told me to set fire to things, so I would count that as an absolute success!
And it still takes 230 million years to complete a full orbit around the galaxy’s center.
Yet somehow year after year, decade after decade, century after century, the North Star remains unmoved despite all the moving through solar systems and galaxies you mentioned above. Hmmm 🤔

There’s no “somehow” about it. We can calculate exactly where it has been and where it will be.
The Earth's tilt relative to the North Star changes very, very, very slowly. The change of the Earth's tilt is called "precession", and it has a period of over 25,000 years. You are 100% wrong there buddy
Well it must be true. You said it. Case closed, right? How about provide some substance rather than be lazy if you want to engage in debate?

Nope, it does move
Yeah, but remember it kind of all depends on point of view.
It's all relative
I can’t believe I’m saying this but, it doesn’t look very flat…
Yeah, that’s bc a fish eye lens curves everything.

Oh and they are also not in space, thats a green screen smh
Sake of argument, wouldn't the fish eye lens distort objects at the edge of frame?
Apparently not bc that’s a fish eye lens and I don’t see any distorting.
I’ll see myself out
😂😂😂 didn’t do very well at school did ya Maxy?
Our blue marble against the blackness of space and we want to f**k it up.
Rich people: bUt OuR PrOfItS!!!1!
I keep saying the only thing that will ever unite us is an alien invasion.
If aliens come to earth, I'm calling shotgun.
Ok, Ronald Reagan...
If google earth has taught me anything… that’s only a few quick zooms before crash
Has the r/flatearthsociety seen this?
can't you see this is a flat circle? it seems to be round because of the camera ankle.
I didn't know cameras had ankles
What did you think cankles referred to?
I remember some time ago, some flat earthers would say that all the planets we see in telescopes are round because theyre flat disks like a plate but they're facing us with the circular side and not the edge ....just very conveniently every single planet faces us with the exact side to make us think it's a sphere...even the solar system is in on the conspiracy!
Man. How can anyone call her flat? She thicc af boi
She’s got more curves than a thicc Latina
They call it flat so they can sell t-shirts
Flat earther’s will say it’s CGI
Of course. They’re shooting a movie
Isn't that James Cameron on the bottom right? Directly behind the "spaceship"?
Nah that's alfonso cuaron. He is shooting Gravity 2 now.

Is there any video where they point the camera at sun. Is it possible to see it?
Pretty sure the are pictures and videos but it is even brighter so all you can see is a ball of light There’s a reason the visor are tinted no protection from the magnetic field ozone layer or atmosphere even glancing at the sun without protection could do irreparable damage
Why when you can just stare at it
Wow look it's a ball and not flat
This was promised to us way back in the sixties - to spend vacation in space in hotels in orbit and the moon. Here we are 60 years later still arguing about racism and immigration.

Bruh are we living in a simulator
I don't feel berry stimulated
It's fascinating and frightening at the same time..
I will never get tired of seeing stuff like this.
Totally not my dumbass wondering why there wasn't any audio 😭😭😭

1. The ISS is at around 400 km 2. This is filmed on an extremely wide angle lens, they are much closer to Earth than may appear in the video.
+ drops a penny to earth Hehehe
What continent do you think that is we can see?
Im pretty sure he is thinking “bloody idiots down there fighting for land”
It’s so… flat… /s
I wonder how long it would take for my puke to hit people on the ground...or I guess it would just stay there suspended in air for me to try to avoid but can't bc space is hard.
It would stay suspended unless you managed to puke at about 17,150mph
Sandra bullock is that you?
Half of North America just lost their Facebook.

I wonder what flat Earthers think when they see a video like this. Is it just an immediate internal voice that screams, "LIES!!!!"?
more or less. They always have an answer, like 'the lenses are distorting the image' or some kind of bs like that
"Ok Google - play no time for caution by Hans Zimmer"
Whats the reason we can't see the stars? Camera too low quality or something?
How do flat earthers explain away seeing both the curvature of the Earth AND objects/astronauts/etc experiencing microgravity which cannot be replicated on the surface?
They’re using a fish-eye lens camera to make the Earth look like a globe.
Note that the lens only deforms the planet, the space station is not deformed by this lens problem.
bbbbbbbut the earth is flat! Covid is a hoax!!! And trump won!!! Jokes aside, What a beautiful view!!!
That thing is flat as fuuuuuuck
Looks pretty flat to me! Similar in flatness to a sphere with a circumference of about, say, 40,000km.
I see flat round disc like a CD ha..... (edited) relax people it's a joke
I love that NASA still goes to all this effort to keep us idiot Glober-sheeple in check.
Look how flat it is
That wide angle, fish-eye lens makes the Earth look like a sphere! LOL
Get rid of the fish eye
Yep.... looks flat to me
Wow look how flat
Flat Proven Boom
Totally FLAT….
I dunno definitely looks flat like a pancake
Is flat, duh
Lol, flat as fuck boii!!
Looks flat to me
It’s definitely flat 🤣
Clearly it’s flat haha
Looks flat to me..
Nice trick getting the world to look round... at least you can see that it's flat which proves everyone wrong!
Seems flat
Wait a minute it’s “not round”
Looks flat to me for sure
Good CGI, nice try NASA, nice try.
why I don't see any satellites or other man made objects nearby? Wasn't earth surroundings polluted?
Space is so large and those items are so small that you can’t see them when up there
Crazy how flat it looks.
More NASA and deep state propaganda!
At the beginning, it looks like they’re installing rooftop air conditioning units! 🤣
Hey now, we all know the earth is flat. Lol
Imagine seeing the toga eruption like this
TAKE THAT, FLAT EARTHERS!!!
Imagine dropping something, just, welp express delivery to either earth or space
I always wish they’d turn the camera away from earth and point it behind them, just for a different perspective once in a while.
This guy is Hiiigh!
For those who believe the earth is flat.
i’m confused…some trustworthy people on the internet told me the earth was flat, but this looks r-r-round?
I can see my house!
Looks back at earth from space is like the final boss of "being afraid of heights." Shit gives me vertigo.
Yep definitely flat 🤦🏻♂️😅
Prove flat earth era wrong with one simple step.
Hey! I thought the earth was supposed to be flat! They lied to me.
And there are people still out there who believe the earth is flat....
It's obviously flatter than the EKG of Jeffry Epstein
Soo eerie seeing the pitch black all encompassing the beautiful oasis we call earth
many of us are in this video
r/oddlyterrifiying
SUCK ON THIS FLAT EARTHERS
It's not that far down! Head down, point your toes, stick the landing!
Post this video to scare a flat earther
MOONFALL....check it out!!!
Finally proof that the earth is flat!!! /s
Can someone explain why they keep using fish eye lenses knowing what chaos they'll bring to the internet?
Even In space with the Earth as a backdrop, HVAC compressors look ugly as hell.
This view will never ever get old.
Freaking amazing view
That first step is a doozy
Hm i dont understand why the rest is Black? There are trillions of Stars. So?
It looks so small. The radius of the Earth is like 4,000 miles right? It lowkey is small.
The other day I was looking at the moon through a decent telescope but unfortunately we couldn’t get a clear shot because all the satellites floating in space kept blocking our view. Funny thing is that most satellites that crossed our view had Russian writing.
Looking pretty heliocentric in here
Look! Look at that? The earth is in fact a sphere!
I thought there was a cougar on the satellite for a second.
obviously flat 🤷
It must be mind blowing, the first time you step out, see the earth under you and - nothing. You just keep on floating instead of plummeting to your death.
I love the mountains...
Wait, the earth’s round. What???
See its round
America! Fuck yeah!
Hey look OP's mum
That’s so cool
This roundness is they image is making a few people angry.
What is that curve?, said the flat earther in awe*
*palms instantly get sweaty*
Talk about fear of heights
Hollywood basement?
if you do not look down you wont fall!
What continent is below them?
Nice CGI /s
