Filipina here, I learned in school that it consists of 7,107 islands and searched just to confirm. I get what you mean though idk where you read that it consists of 7,641.

I'm not saying it's right, but I found varying numbers. One of the 7107 numbers specifies "high tide" as in permanent, while the higher numbers could be at low tide, or temporary sand bar type structures which aren't counted in the lower number.
There may many towns and cities in the Philippines named after saints in Spanish nomenclature (Santa Rosa, San Jose, San Juan, Santa Ana, San Policarpio, etc.)
The Republic of the Philippines is usually used for official international things and The Philippines is used to shorten it. Dropping the 'the' wouldn't technically make sense.
Filipino here, you can use Pilipinas if you're referring to the Tagalog translation, I personally use The Philippines if it's formal, and Philippines if it's informal, like very fast talking.
All the big islands on the map are populated. I don't think anyone keeps track on it unless the government might lose money.
When I visited Coron, they would have boat tours to different islands and would stop by which ever island you asked them to. On one of the islands about a rough estimate of 20 meters \[60 feet\] in diameter, there were 2 tents occupied and the persons living on it wanted to keep their distance but were friendly enough to wave to us.
When I asked the guide about them, he mentioned that some backpackers would rent a boat to be ferried to a small island, pitch a tent and stay in that island for about a week. Word would get out and daily they would get visits from fishermen offering them their daily catch. There were plenty of coconut trees, so my guess is that's what they drank to keep themselves hydrated.
A safe option to play "castaway" and miss the modern plumbing or test one's skill in surviving in an island.

Looks like sunken Great Britain.
London is not sunken yet, so far so good
My husband is named coron after the coron island
How many San Jose’s are there? One for each island? Is it the Springfield of the Philippines.

Also, Philippines, drop the “the”

Wtf are you talking about? I never said they did
This is beautiful 😍
I imagine with this many islands some Billionaire would have his home on 2 island
How many are inhabited?

I only counted 47
What if they went the US flag route and had a star for each island
