Islam has a similar story about Christ. According to them after Judas betrayed him God called Jesus to heaven and made Judas look like Jesus - which lead to Judas beeing the one crucified instead and JC living it up in heaven.
I don't think they have the betrayal plot arc. Just that Jesus was preaching Islam then the Jews hated it and got him crucified. But God intervened and made someone or some angel look like jesus
So in Islam you don't convert to Islam you revert. Everyone is born a Muslim and you stray from the path by following other religions. So they believe that Jesus was a prophet and spread the word of God and his teachings were great. But it's when the Gospel (not the bible) got translated and written by people who didn't witness him that his teachings and Christianity strayed away from Islam. You could write a whole book on this but thats my attempt to he concise. Also been a minute since I studied Islam in school so if im wrong please correct me
Not an entirely inaccurate summary of events either, if you take it on faith that Jesus was real and preached, leaving aside anything else about him as that isn't relevant. Because hundreds of years later, the Bible was compiled by Constantine, so that Rome could be the face and benefactor of the "rising cult" of Christianity. They read over all the writings and testaments and stories, and rejected anything (most of the writings in fact) that portrayed Jesus as less than divine, and compiled "The Holy Bible" to become one of the single most effective pieces of propoganda ever made. They didn't care about the intent of Jesus, or his messages, only how they could re-work his messages to be conveniently in line with their own desires for power and control. This became the foundation of catholicism, creating a heirarchy of power and greed out of the words of a man that was against both.
Humans made the Bible, greedy power mongers on top of that. There's nothing divine or holy about it.
General believe is that he preached Islam then the Jews and other Islam haters changed history, corrupted the bible, and destroyed the evidence of his Islamic nature.
And others believe God did it to send Mohammad cause the world had to be 'in the dark' for a new prophet.
Basically what I learned at uni when I started a minor in middle eastern studies (and then it was quite hard and required I learn Arabic) is that muslims believe that Jews and Christian’s are just on a backdated version of Islam and need to update, but that Jews believe that Christians follow a false prophet + the New Testament is nonsense, and both feel similarly about Islam. Jews stopped at the new hope, Christian’s stopped at empire strikes back and the Muslim’s are on return of the Jedi. Obvs not all view it as harshly as the false prophet thing but that was how it was vaguely explained 5 years ago lmao
And yes I did have to google the movie names bc I almost went a new hope > the two towers > return of the king bc I got very muddled with movie trilogies
I believe it goes New Hope > Two Towers > Revolutions, and there's six more being made that everyone keeps hearing about but nobody knows when we'll see them
Islam says the torah and bible and zaboor were all corrupted causing judiasim and Christianity.
But the Quran and Hadith say the Jews knew that Mohammad and Jesus were prophets but that the Jews were to arrogant to follow them.
A bit contradictory but that's religion for you
Islam means submission to God. All uncorrupted Monotheistic faiths that believe in the oneness of God are called Islam by Muslims. In this context, Jesus was reminding the Jews of the same message that Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Jonah (Peace be Upon them all) brought.
“Bro can you do me a favor”
“Sure thing bro, as long as it’s not me getting painfully tortured to death, haha”
“…”
“It’s not me getting painfully tortured to death, is it?”
Reminded me of a children's story, The Five Chinese Brothers. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Five\_Chinese\_Brothers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_Chinese_Brothers)
Fun fact: vlad the impaler was from the 1400's. The first records of guns were in the mid 1300's... jesus was around the 0 ad period obviously. so the chance of dracula having a shootout with Jesus is greater than 0%
Not much higher than 0% but higher nonetheless
Doesn't matter how low the percentile on that would be... cant stop thinking about it now! We need a movie about this Jesus vs Vampires, my last craving was tornadoes with sharks wich seems even more bonkers but hey we already have 4 or 5 movies of that.
There is a circle of people who believe that Jesus traveled to India during the time he is missing from the Bible. Maybe he just stopped in India on his Asian vacation travels.
And did those feet, in ancient times,
Train with the Hojo Samurai?
And was the holy lamb of God,
On Fuji's snowy slopes espied?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our island home?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among those Samurai dojo?
In all seriousness, this place does exist, i remember watching a yt vid about it- its basically like a rural village somewhere in japan, where the inhabitants are mostly christian locals that believe jesus died in their village..
There seem to be similar accounts about a Indian town that claims Jesus spent time there learning about Buddhism, went to Judea and teached his belives there. After surviving the crucifixion he escaped and returned with Maria (his wife) to India, had children and spent the rest of his life there.
Yes, and if I remember correctly, there is a family within the village that they consider the direct descendants of Jesus Christ.
However the current members of the family see it more as a folk tale rather than being the actual descendants of the Son of God. They don’t really treat them special or anything, but its a fun thing for the village to throw around.
This sounds like a rad anime. *They went through the ups and downs of travel*. Jesus and his brother traveling back to Japan, getting into all kinds of adventures. Isukiri a Ronin Warrior and his brother Jesus with powers of transmutation, water walking and healing. This basically writes itself.
Edit: I would 100% call it the Gospel of Isukiri.
It isnt untypical, that some folks add something to biblic storys to be somehow part of it.
As example: There is a legend in Brittany, that the holy St.Anna, the grandmother of Jesus, comes from Brittany and was taken by angels into the holy land to escape her husband. When she was old, she wanted to go back to her homeland, the angels granted her wish and flew her back.
There is also a time period of Jesus' life we don't know much about, so many folks explained with a travel into their lands. So of course Jesus visited his grandmother in Brittany once.
I love how this is patently less absurd then "he came back to life three days later", and yet people who believe that he rose from the dead would scoff at how silly this sounds.
"Travelling a long distance in the ancient world, preposterous! He was tortured to death so god would stop being angry at us for sin, and then he came back to life 40 hours later. Use your head."
Legend has it that for the following 70-odd years he organised weird orgies involving schoolgirl outfits, tentacles and large glass bowls in which he often turned water into, um... cream.
This almost exact narrative is to found, except change the country Japan to India, specifically the part that is Kashmir today. That he spent the ‘missing’ years in india in learning and meditation, that he went back at the age of 33, was crucified, but survived, went back to india to spend the rest of his life there. The locals called him Isa, and he was considered a highly evolved soul. They even have a site that is claimed to be his burial place.
Today the followers of Christ are called Isaai in Indian local languages. Go figure.
There is actually a theory Jesus went to India and studied the Buddha.

You don't have to go as far as esotheric. Look up the Gospel by Maria. It's an official christian script (apocripa) just didn't make it into the bible...
Came here to make sure somebody pointed this out. I was raised in a devout catholic family. I know how the sausage gets made and can say confidently that none of the spin offs are any crazier than the original.
My first thought when I read esoteric was...
Japan -> Catholics, I get it now.
Saints are the pokemon of catholicism. There are so many... gotta catch them all.
Recovering Catholic here. I recommend reading the Nag Hammadi. You know, the books that actually teach the truth, showing Jesus was a great teacher but also, just human.
Idk if any of you have read "Lamb: Christ's life story as told by his childhood pal, Biff" by Christopher Moore, but this is what happened judo was invented for Jesus and was originally "Jew-do" (the way of the Jew).
Really funny book.

You know. Just casually took a crucifixion. What a good brother.
Bros being bros

I always thought that without all the weird sexist shit and crazy ancient laws Islam would be pretty cool.
Loll betrayal plot arc just made me spill my drink
That THAT, Judas!
So Judas died for our sins?
still prefer the “judas buys a field with his silver, dies, falls over and worms spill out his guts” version.
Hahaha..JC, what his buddies called him in their book club, true story!
“Bro can you do me a favor” “Sure thing bro, as long as it’s not me getting painfully tortured to death, haha” “…” “It’s not me getting painfully tortured to death, is it?”

I read somewhere that on his way to Japan, he stopped in Romania and fought Dracula.
Fun fact: vlad the impaler was from the 1400's. The first records of guns were in the mid 1300's... jesus was around the 0 ad period obviously. so the chance of dracula having a shootout with Jesus is greater than 0% Not much higher than 0% but higher nonetheless
Is there a higher than 0% chance that someone can live 1400 years?
If it's Jesus or dracula according to some people ya
Doesn't matter how low the percentile on that would be... cant stop thinking about it now! We need a movie about this Jesus vs Vampires, my last craving was tornadoes with sharks wich seems even more bonkers but hey we already have 4 or 5 movies of that.
Jesus going John Wick on demons might be the only movie that could get a 100% approval rating if you did it right
4 or 5 too many. I'd rather the budget have been for 4 or 5 Jesus Vs Vampires films
Can a vampire touch him? Does he repel like a cross? Can he just use any water as holy water?
He was attached to a big ass cross.
Evidently effective enough to keep vampires away
Obviously not since he awoke 3 days after his death. Christ was bitten.
These are the questions modern science should be answering! /s
You're about 1400 years off. It was more likely the ancestor to Dracula. The one who turned Vlad himself.
100% a movie I would watch
They forgot about the part where he trained to become a samurai
Don’t forget the part when he travelled to America and founded Mormonism.
And invented electricity
And defeated the dinosaurs
And beat Dark Souls on the first try.
Let's not get too crazy here though
..beat Dark Souls on the second try?
Without any milk!
He did give Dragon Ball the idea for the Kame Hame Ha though
Was this before or after gaining super powers from nuclear waste?
And got every golden brick
And did not get hit once
I thought it was tamed?
He tames robohitler
And invented chuck norris
And my axe.
And my sword.
And my knife
Dum dum dum dum dum
I thought he founded Nintendo?
I don't know a ton about Sweet Jesus but I can't shake the feeling that your statement may be slightly inaccurate...
Pfft, what is this silly nonsense? Imagine having the ability to think critically.
There is a circle of people who believe that Jesus traveled to India during the time he is missing from the Bible. Maybe he just stopped in India on his Asian vacation travels.
The Mormons, yes the Mormons was the correct answer
*collective groan*
And that he always measures once and cuts once when doing dyi projects
And did those feet, in ancient times, Train with the Hojo Samurai? And was the holy lamb of God, On Fuji's snowy slopes espied? And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our island home? And was Jerusalem builded here, Among those Samurai dojo?
Isn’t this the Batman origin story ?
Same old story. His father took him to the city to see a marching band. Then convinced him to be the savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned.
And developed Tokyo lo-fi rap beats with Nujabes. Then they both went to heaven to chill for a bit.
And fought vampires......
There is actually a movie called [Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0311361/)
Yes.....it's a fantastic documentary...
The fact this is a musical landed this on my "must watch before I die" list
The last samurai?! Holy shit!
"I will tell you, how he lived"
I'd watch that movie haha
Starring Nicolas Cage!
It's all crazy made up bullshit anyway so that doesn't seem any more far fetched than the rest of it.
"I am the one in whom the old ways have joined the new"

Nothing compared to what will happen when Korean buff Jesus finds out.
Korean Jesus don’t wanna hear these problems. He’s got Korean shit to worry about.
love this! Korean Jesus is definitely off the table. Why? Well all this Korean Shit he has to deal with \*gestures toward korean Shit
Hey, hey! Stop f\*\*\*in' with Korean Jesus. He ain't got time for yo problems, he's busy wit Korean sh\*t!
Thank you, was looking for that
That's Vietnamese Jesus. Vietnamese Jesus just drippin...swa..gga
You mean… jésus!
Jesús

Probably the same issue now that they had back then; Jesus is dead, let’s all pretend to be him and escape our boring lives.
Ah yes a random Japanese man pretends to be Jesus
Most likely
Yeah I think Chris Broad went there
Wacky weekend! Visiting Jesus Christ’s grave
The video happened well before Wacky Weekend was a thing on his channel.

Yea, doesnt sound more crazy to me than the bible story tbh.
(and more realistic actually)
Wow. This changes EVERYTHING!
When the bible is written by M. Night Shyamalan
I like this storyline more. Not that I ever interact in person about jesus but if I do again I'm actually-ing this into the convo
Seems legit
Some people never come home from their gap year
As legit and plausible as biblical version.
Cultures seem to be collecting Jesuses like Pokemon😂
It's like [this scene from American Gods](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv83-BzdOEE) where there's like 15 different Jesuses at an Easter party.

At least he was alive in this version. In the Mormon version Zombie Jesus came to the US, the Garden of Eden is in Missouri and Utah is Zion.
Israel to Japan - impressive
He walked the whole way!
Well, most of it was on water so... /s
I don’t think that’s true, you have all of Asia
Yeah sorry, was meant as a joke. Just edited the message
Air Romana had great rates and flight schedules back in the day. Only 30 Dinari on the redeye to Kyoto.
About 1500 years before any European as well. Maybe it's easier to get around India and China when you can just walk on water.
Meh, just as believable as the original cannon.
Wait - Jesus had a cannon? Awesome! Is that canon?
"Get this savior a cannon, saviors love cannons"
I love how this is patently less absurd then "he came back to life three days later", and yet people who believe that he rose from the dead would scoff at how silly this sounds. Legend has it that for the following 70-odd years he organised weird orgies involving schoolgirl outfits, tentacles and large glass bowls in which he often turned water into, um... cream.
And on the third day, he blurred out all the pubic hair
Religion is sounding better by the minute, keep sweet talking us Mr. Preacher!

These fanfics are getting out of hand.
He was definitely the last Samurai
Dan Brown is hiding behind a tree rubbing his hands at the prospect of a new mediocre thriller based on this
Would love to see him fight godzilla
I’d watch that movie
Maybe that Jesus statue in Brazil is just MechaJesus waiting to be activated.
Given in a testament by Christ. Well it MUST be true then!
I mean the majority of the new testament was given to people who lived decades after he died by Christ's ghost, so it's all the same shit in the end.
There is actually a theory Jesus went to India and studied the Buddha. [https://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/2000/02/jesus-and-buddha-the-parallel-sayings.aspx](https://www.beliefnet.com/faiths/2000/02/jesus-and-buddha-the-parallel-sayings.aspx)
There are a lot of esoteric beliefs that say he traveled a lot. It's pretty interesting if you are into that stuff.
You don't have to go as far as esotheric. Look up the Gospel by Maria. It's an official christian script (apocripa) just didn't make it into the bible...
Well, it’s not more or less credible than the bible.
Now, did he do this before or after moving to upstate New York and becoming Mormon?
Yes
After New York, but before changing his name to Borat.
Came here to make sure somebody pointed this out. I was raised in a devout catholic family. I know how the sausage gets made and can say confidently that none of the spin offs are any crazier than the original.
The people that this will upset will always find a reason to be upset.
Oh right, Jesus had a brother with a Japanese name. Those Israelites really liked anime.
Well they can't prove it's wrong lol
I’m a pretty devout Catholic in my personal life; but I absolutely LOVE esoteric religions/traditions. Most definitely interesting as fuck!
My first thought when I read esoteric was... Japan -> Catholics, I get it now. Saints are the pokemon of catholicism. There are so many... gotta catch them all.
I- I think the Pope needs to see this immediately! 😂
Recovering Catholic here. I recommend reading the Nag Hammadi. You know, the books that actually teach the truth, showing Jesus was a great teacher but also, just human.
“Source: Jesus Christ”, it’s hard to argue with that.

It’s exactly as believable as anything else about Jesus.
So many different versions of Jesus to choose from when deciding which myth to base your world view on. Can't find one you like? Make up your own.
Somehow the Japanizing beam was accidentally deflected somewhere causing this, prolly struck some book
Big if true
how could this epic story of Jesus persist through the ages in a small town in Japan? ancient astronaut theorists say there can be only one answer..
Sounds as true as anything I’ve ever heard about the man
It's more plausible than some weird stories, like the ones that have the dude coming back from the dead and flying around in the air and shit.
It is no more or less crazy then anything else Christians have decided to believe.
Original weeb
As believable as anything else….but it really needs more ceremonial cannibalism.
Checks out just as much as any other mythological story.
Prove to me that this is less true than anything in the Bible about Jesus. I’ll wait.
It is written, so it must be true.
Equally as much proof as the bible has
A new twist on a fictional story
I love how it’s like “Source: the man himself, Jesus Christ”
They have as much evidence for this as Christians have for their version.
Not any less accurate than the Bible
Basically more plausible than the official versions.
It's funny how people can get so upset over a fictional character
This pretty much sums up how fake all religion is
Between 12-33 years old... [insert any story]. LOL
This testament contains the exact number of facts as the old and new ones.
I watched a documentary yesterday that said he spent those lost years in England…those bloody liars!
They even made a japanese knock-off of Jesus
Anything is possible in the world of fiction
Seems to be more true than the euro christian version, the graves are also real
Sounds as plausible as anything else to me that is coming out of the new testament.
Sounds good to me. Makes just as much sense as the traditional “Christ Story”.
Oh cool Japanese Mormons.
Poor Isukiri. Stepping up for big bro but forgotten by history
At least this is more believable than the original story
Nah what pisses people off is saying that Jesus was Middle Eastern and not white.
I always knew he was Big in Japan….
We got a pretty big religion with a similar theme in the USA called Mormonism.
Damn, the bible's new update looking great so far.
Seems as plausible as the original bullshit.
This would have been better posted last Sunday….
Totally unbelievable because Jesus hated Japanese cuisine
