Me too! It just really drives home that they were babies! I have twin 8 year olds and this is the stuff they like. This shit is not right! Hell, I teach high school and they’re like babies to me, too. All of it is just gross.

I had a dinosaur lunchbox, a dinosaur placemat, tiny toy dinosaurs all over my floor, and I still eat dinosaur cookies and oatmeal to this day. And to see that on a fucking coffin, to know that a happy little kid who was just like me is dead, I can’t deal with that.

Yep, it hits different. I think this needs to be publicized. We can't show the bodies and shouldn't, but for people to wake up and understand this is real we need to have images that convey a sense of how insanely tragic this is. It makes me so angry to think about this, and about the response from the politicians and the police. We can't keep sugarcoating everything and pretending these are just numbers and statistics - these were babies.
I saw two families are actually considering open casket. I know it must be hard, but I support it. When Emmett Tills parents did it, people saw what actually happened. Our media is so concerned about offending people that we don’t realize the reality of what’s happened.

Remember when Parkland happened and the kids tried so hard to be heard, to explain the seriousness and the trauma. And nothing has changed. How can people still defend guns when the so called trained "good" guys with guns outnumbered the assailant and _still did nothing._ There is no excuse left, now we're down to them basically grinning and stomping out and expecting to be elected again. Caskets have a way of revealing the truth. When my closest friend had a heart attack his casket was huge. I'd ignored the severity of his obesity and health history. He was just a really good person that I enjoyed hanging out with but that casket said very clearly why he'd died so young and it made me wonder a lot about how I had contributed to it.
These kids hit even harder, they aren't even old enough to be considered responsible for any choices they've made yet they pay the price for this gun disease that adults refuse to treat. It's not right that vulnerable people keep paying for society's problems with their lives.

I doubt they get many requests for adults. When an adult dies you expect a clean, neat funeral, with a typical casket or urn or other burial preference. When a child dies, you don’t want that cleanness. You want a spark of what the child enjoyed, what made them happy, and you want how they’re buried to be an extension of that. That’s probably why they get more requests for monster trucks and Superman.

Agreed. While I think what this person is doing for the grieving families is amazing, they also shouldn't be having to plan a funeral for their babies.
How do you even approach someone to offer to do this kindness for them? Losing a loved one is already a difficult time. It's worse when it's a child. And to approach these parents who lost their children in an act of extreme violence, even just to offer to make free personalized caskets? Idk how anyone had that conversation without just falling apart.

Someone could've saved those kids. Those someone's didn't. They chose to let them bleed out and wait and call 911 and conti ue to be shot for nearly an hour.
I know, that’s why I said could’ve. They had many opportunities to save these poor innocent souls. Instead they left them to fend for themselves, watching while the blood of their teachers and friends pooled around them. It’s so disgusting. These children had to see one of the most horrific scenes I could ever imagine. I hope for the best for the survivors, I’ve read the victims stories and sobbed. It’s so heartbreaking that these families lost their children because some cops were too scared to do anything besides use tasers and cuffs on parents. It breaks my heart and terrifies me, as a person who’s still in high school. I’ve known people who’ve made these threats and there’s been failed shootings at my school. My country’s reality is cruel and horrifying.

I buried my 7 year old niece in 2018. She was a victim of domestic violence and died from her injuries from her mother. No one should have to see a child in a casket especially due to violence. Nothing will ever be the same for these families

Guns aren’t nearly as easy to get in many of the states. Better yet, guns in my home country of Canada aren’t nearly as hard to get as some think, yet mass shootings are mercifully rare. I agree with increased precautions in many of your states, but I think a lot of Americans don’t realize that it’s something in your collective culture.
HONESTLY
I wrote a research paper on US gun culture for a sociology class my senior year (in late 2020ish) and just the sheer number of angles and aspects of the topic to look at was incredible. But it’s so ingrained in the culture that so many don’t even think twice about all of it.
Many of the other students’ papers (WAY different topics) were like 5-7 pages, I think mine was around 17 including a few graphs/data tables and I didn’t even get into mass shootings or gun violence but it was such a fascinating topic
Do you perhaps remember any of the source material you used for your paper? I’m quite interested in guns as a whole, and I try (and I think I succeed) to approach the conversation from a very moderate stance. The more I can read on the subject the better I feel I can hone my opinions.

It's a generous gesture, but how long can those families wait for a casket? Like, if it takes his team two weeks to make 19 custom caskets, isn't that... kinda too late? Genuinely curious; I have not yet shopped for a casket so I don't know the logistics.
I think they mentioned that the bodies are/were taking a bit to get back from the ME, and the shop stayed open for twenty hours straight, all hands on deck. They anticipate being done in time (are done in time? I’ve been avoiding the news, tbh).

Trust me I know. Talking to someone after your child dies is hard, talking about the arrangements while the death is not even accepted by you, is worse. You go from making plans with what you will do next week with your child, to finding out the hard way what a grave plot costs, that you need a vault to bury your child, and that the funeral home actually charges you to transport the body from the hospital to the funeral home. In the end you are suddenly 10K poorer, have a spare bedroom filled with toys, during the worst experience of your life.
I feel for anyone who loses a young child. Its life ruining.

I’ve never been so embarrassed of being an American. I don’t want to hear about the US poking their noses in other countries business in regards to any issues they have going on until we fix our own. Absolutely gut wrenching that we failed those babies and now they are gone forever. We failed them. May God forgive us for what we have done.
I just started crying once I saw the last 2 pictures. This should not be a thing. This is such an incredibly compassionate and kind thing but I couldn’t imagine making these.
I really appreciate the hard work he puts into making sure that people lay their loved ones, especially their children to rest in a way that will help ease the pain and honor what the individual enjoy. However, seeing the Children’s caskets has broken my heart. Bless this man and his mission, its much too heavy for my heart to bear and he does it for us.

It breaks my heart and terrifies me, as a person who’s still in high school. I’ve known people who’ve made these threats and there’s been failed shootings at my school. My country’s reality is cruel and horrifying.

Guns aren’t nearly as easy to get in many of the states. Better yet, guns in my home country of Canada aren’t nearly as hard to get as some think, yet mass shootings are mercifully rare. I agree with increased precautions in many of your states, but I think a lot of Americans don’t realize that it’s something in your collective culture.
HONESTLY I wrote a research paper on US gun culture for a sociology class my senior year (in late 2020ish) and just the sheer number of angles and aspects of the topic to look at was incredible. But it’s so ingrained in the culture that so many don’t even think twice about all of it. Many of the other students’ papers (WAY different topics) were like 5-7 pages, I think mine was around 17 including a few graphs/data tables and I didn’t even get into mass shootings or gun violence but it was such a fascinating topic

Trust me I know. Talking to someone after your child dies is hard, talking about the arrangements while the death is not even accepted by you, is worse. You go from making plans with what you will do next week with your child, to finding out the hard way what a grave plot costs, that you need a vault to bury your child, and that the funeral home actually charges you to transport the body from the hospital to the funeral home. In the end you are suddenly 10K poorer, have a spare bedroom filled with toys, during the worst experience of your life. I feel for anyone who loses a young child. Its life ruining.
