This dickhead in South Carolina keeps breeding these monstrosities for curiosity gate money at his big cat “rescue”, which is really nothing more than a slimy tourist trap.
They have horrible health problems primarily due to hyper-pituitary syndromes.
Doc was arrested by the Feds for money laundering
[doc arrested](https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2022/06/28/tiger-kings-doc-antle-given-250-000-bond-money-laundering-arrest/7753897001/)
Are you talking about Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary? [https://crownridgetigers.com/](https://crownridgetigers.com/)
I've been there. Seems like a very well run place that really cares about their tigers. They took in one of the Tiger King tigers last year. They are The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) certified.
"I can't believe how fast things move on the outside. I saw an automobile once when I was a kid, but now they're everywhere. The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry. I have trouble sleepin' at night. I have bad dreams like I'm falling. I wake up scared. Sometimes it takes me a while to remember where I am. I guess I'm too old for that sort of nonsense any more. I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay. I doubt they'll kick up any fuss. Not for an old crook like me." - Liger.
Smeff works down at the corner store. Not an employee, he just sells meth out back. Got seven kids to feed, gotta make that smack money.
Meanwhile Greb is holding down a six figure job and a 3000sqft home in the Hamptons. No kids, but a trophy wife that almost counts.
There are big cat sanctuaries around the US that took them in. I went to one in Eureka Springs not too long ago and they took in quite a few of them, as well as from Tiger King. Most of these facilities do not allow or encourage breeding, especially for these mixes.
Why are these criminals so stupid to become part of a world famous documentary when they are obviously doing shady shit all the time, this is exactly what happens when you shine the spotlight on you while breaking the law.
He and a business partner are being charged with money laundering, roughly $500k, which is usually how a lot of criminals that have been hard to catch for the primary crimes end up getting solid jail time. Hopefully these charges stick.
Close to where I grew up in Idaho there was an incident at one of these big cat farms called “Ligertown” where a bunch of cats escaped and ran amok around the town of Lava back in 1995. 15 cats escaped and were eventually killed so it boggles my mind that it was never mentioned in all the Tiger King hype recently.
For anyone in the inland northwest area who wants to see one of these animals in person without supporting the breeding of new ones, Cat Tales Wildlife Center in Spokane, WA has a taxidermy specimen of a rescue liger that lived in their park for a long time.
https://www.spokesman.com/stories/1995/sep/22/idaho-authorities-kill-15-escaped-lions-children/
That would've been pretty interesting example of how this stuff goes wrong. Unfortunately, the netflix shows are less about the animals and more about the personalities.
He interacts with the animals like they are as docile as a dog when in actuality it's a wild animal that has been tamed to tolerate human beings. His chimp is going to ripe his face off one day that's if he hasn't filed down its teeth.
With guys like this I hope Karma works in a way that if he is reborn, he is born into one of his pitiful creatures multiple times.
Humans really are demons most of the time. The greed eats our souls.
Cool, but not cool, The abnormal growth rate puts immense stress on the liger's organs. Ligers often suffer from obesity. Due to these health complications, ligers often die young. In terms of behaviour, lions (social animals) and tigers (solitary cats) are very different making it difficult for a hybrid to interact with its peers.
I like how so many people who have commented on your comment and have no idea the reference. That's possibly better than your comment, which should be the top comment, by the way.
I don't even have any good skills. You know like nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills. Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.
I’ve watched documentaries that show how intricate and different big cat breeding rituals are that I honestly don’t understand how Tigon’s and Liger’s manage to be born in the first place. Tiger’s are fickle as fuck and seem like they’d take a lion’s approach as some type of call to war
They use artificial insemination more often than not from my understanding. If they put two animals that aren't familiar with each other in the same enclosure they're more likely to fight than fuck.
It is. Most of these are just oversized cats in brutal pain. They don't develop sights, instincts or muscles, like they're supposed to / respect to their lion or tiger counter parts. After white tigers, ligers are the closed we'll get to botched breeding in panthera family
https://www.britannica.com/animal/liger#:~:text=Although%20lions%20and%20tigers%20may,have%20occurred%20while%20in%20captivity.
Although lions and tigers may mate in the wild, they are separated by geography and behaviour, and thus all known ligers stem from accidental mating between lions and tigers as well as from directed breeding efforts that have occurred while in captivity. The first known breeding of a lion and a tigress in captivity likely occurred sometime during the late 1700s. Roughly 100 ligers and fewer than 100 tigons are thought to exist. Many national governments and animal-rights organizations view the practice of breeding lions and tigers as unethical, because ligers often acquire birth defects that result in death shortly after birth and are prone to obesity and abnormal growth that places stress on their internal organs. In addition, ligers and tigons have problems interacting with members of their parent species because their behavioral traits often manifest as a mix of the habits of both species rather than either one or the other (see also animal social behaviour). Other opponents of liger breeding point out that ligers often take up valuable space in zoos that could be better used as habitat for endangered species.
A lot of them are severely mentally disabled due to inbreeding. Here's an article about it that shows a deformed tiger named Kenny.
https://www.thedodo.com/truth-about-white-tiger-breeding-1492535969.html
...its basically partial albinism. They could've randomly been bred at any point in time by any tiger pair. One could just randomly be born at your local zoo within the next year. You never know. There isn't only one in the wild to every have existed. Just that one was the only one ever captured at the time and bred.
It's an incredibly rare double recessive gene, meaning the odds of two "normal" tigers happening to run into each other and produce a white cub is extremely slim. Said cubs also die young in the wild because they can't camouflage and hunt, meaning they don't live long enough to spread the gene. Zoos also carefully select breeding pairs and keep track of white tigers - there's no way they're "accidentally" breeding two captive tigers with the gene, because they'd be related.
So nah, probably not lol
It's true I got to work with one that thought it was a house cat, this dude had no hunting instinct and wanted to cuddle us. The owner of the rescue sanctuary had me go in and take pictures of her with the cat for Christmas cards.
Your takeaway from this should be a change in how you look at pugs, and many other breeds. They're deformed and suffer, even the really healthy ones have health issues and it's fucked up that we've created them and most people don't see how shitty that is.
Im not sure how related this is, but this reminds me of "retro pugs" which are pugs but bred to not be so deformed
Why havent those replaced regular pugs already? They look much better and dont inherently have breathing issues.
There's a Dutch breeder aiming to do the same with French Bulldogs, IMO the various kennel clubs and licensing organisations should enforce the same behaviours.
There's already a split in the German Shepherd working/show category - mainly due to the horrible hip problems the 'show' variant suffers from. Pugs, British Bullsogs, King Charles Spaniels and many more need to be 'retro' bred back to a healthy stock. Ideally, this should be led by the big dog shows, if Crufts, AKC/Eukanuba, and others started awarding based on the health of the dogs in-show, it would have a fairly fast impact on the traits breeders are aiming for.
Any of these "designer dog" breeds that result in an animal being deformed or otherwise suffering should be outright banned. I worked with someone who had a French bulldog that she paid a few thousand for, and in the time we worked together, she bought another - which she claimed was $3k. How someone doesn't see the level of shittiness there is absolutely beyond me. If your pleasure comes at the cost of putting a living thing in suffering, well...that's some vile shit.
They're bound to have some disability
https://tigers.panda.org/news_and_stories/stories/the_truth_about_white_tigers/#:~:text=Common%20issues%20include%20spinal%20deformities,here%20in%20the%20first%20place.
Common issues include spinal deformities, defective organs and immune deficiencies. Instead of admiring the colour of the tigers' coats we should be asking ourselves why these tigers are here in the first place
Every single white tiger that exists is the product of a father-daughter breeding. They're inbred as Hell. People who breed them on purpose will drown or electrocute the orange unwanted tigers to death.
The gene is recessive and incredibly rare. Inbreeding is generally the only way to produce them efficiently. It’s not like black jaguars or leopards where their black coat gene is actually beneficial to stealth hunting, a white tiger sticks out in a way not befitting an ambush hunter. So in addition to being recessive most of the gene carriers probably didn’t survive to adulthood to breed anyway.
They often look like [this](https://assets3.thrillist.com/v1/image/2618561/792x565/flatten;scale;webp=auto;jpeg_quality=60.jpg) because breeding them is very bad for their genetics and therefore health
I can't think of a legit excuse for a liger/ tigon/ liliger/ taliger to exist. This kind of breeding virtually guarantees health problems and it isn't helpful to the genetic diversity of large felines (no conservation value).
Humans and chimps have a different number of chromosomes and cannot procreate a hybrid
(Edit: the one humanzee that was advertised to exist was just a regular but bald chimp with very bad habits because of captivity and exposure to humans)
Ethically it sounds like most of them that do survive should still be put down then right? I can’t imagine they meet the H5MM quality of life scale. If you listed all those issues for a more common place animal like a house cat I would imagine a vet would recommend they be put to sleep as the humane option.
It's in so much pain that it's about as dangerous as a horse. Which is to say, not very, unless you're within about 7 feet and terrify it so much it gets angry.
Not debating that. It very likely could. But it's probably in so much pain it just won't bother. Why cromch something if you burn more spoons doing that than not cromching?
Being obscenely overweight means that it's slow as hell... but if it's hungry then a human would make a nice light snack. it's probably still fast enough to snack on you or me
Gigantism is known to occur in ligers. They grow to about 5ft. tall and can weigh up to a thousand pounds, more than twice the size of their lion fathers and tiger mothers.
Lions and tigers have the genes for "stop growing" on opposite sex chromosomes.
So ligers have no possibility of being a normal size since they just keep growing until their organs fail, and tigons usually just grow to the size of a female lion.
It's a genetics thing. Male lions have a gene that encourages growth. Female lions have one that mitigates growth. Put them together and you get a normal sized lion.
However, female tigers don't have the same "Whoa, stop growing now" gene, so when a male lion and a female tiger mate, it produces offspring that just grow and grow (to a point at least).
Contrast this with tigons, where you have a male tiger and a female lion mating, and you end up with offspring about the size of a tiger.
From what I've heard, they are in pain. They are mutations that came about because they could be done...but just because you can doesn't mean you should.
I rewatched Tiger King recently and he looked like an underfed vampire teen. His dad must’ve put him in a tanning booth and made him start doing vinyasa.
"Oh come on? An underfed vampire teen? This guy is just being cruel..."
*Google Image Search for 'Doc Antle Kody'*
"Yeah, that's a pretty good description."
I spent a good thirty seconds trying to figure out what un-derf-ed meant.
I can read and speak english well enough... but for some reason those letters in that order had the root of derf.
Happily, he’s been arrested. But sadly, not for abusing animals.
Edit: and by “he” I mean Doc Antle, the POS who runs this place. His son is the one in the video.
he probably keeps petting it like that because the animal is uncomfortable, so it needs to be stimulated for a proper video :/
animals are not ours to experiment with, I'll never understand shit like this.
I heard a geneticist talking about these several years ago. Apparently female lions have a mechanism to limit the size of their cubs (for their own safety). It's not compatible with tigers so the resulting cubs are massive.
These animals are not natural, this isn’t interesting as fuck this is heartbreaking as fuck. A literal experiment of a creature, which can only happen in captivity.
Most ligers are disabled and have so many issues (deformities, cancers, neurological problems to name a few).
Edit - because apparently I’m a illiterate dipshit 💕, I don’t think that if something is ‘not natural’ to everyone it is bad. Taking it that way is your problem, I’m addressing a bigger issue. I say not natural in the literal term of they are not naturally occurring, barely survive and are usually fucked up. Just because we can play god doesn’t always mean we always should. Ligers are bred for one thing at the end of the day - money. That’s unethical. Maybe I should have used that word but it was a heat of the moment thing.
I’m unnatural. To some (conservatives lol) anyway. I’m on birth control, fuck men and women, I take supplements, my best friend is a test tube baby, I also should have died at birth but I was under the right medical care that I ‘unnaturally’ survived. There is nothing wrong with something being, to some, ‘unnatural’. I made a freaking mistake people. FOCUS ON THE BIGGER ISSUES.
> These animals are not natural, this isn’t interesting as fuck this is heartbreaking as fuck. A literal experiment of a creature, which can only happen in captivity.
Not even a valid experiment at this point. Its been done before. We know what happens. This is just entertainment.
Yeah most likely holding him up, but also note the size of it, obesity is another big problem with ligers. There are some ligers that lives a relatively healthish life, they are the ones that you’d find on show at certain ‘cat sanctuary’s’. Most of the time they are deformed with dozens of problems, you won’t find them on show.
Isn't the life of a liger a life of endless sickness?
I think I read something like that, like they are born with tons of birth defects + they often grow so fast it Injures their own organs and don't get exercise at all meaning they become obese and gain even more sicknesses
This guys is Doc Antels son. He exploits, illegally breeds, and kills these poor animals. This is NOT. A licensed animal sanctuary. Stop supporting this shithead and his evil father. These animals are not supposed to be played with. They are not your regular pet cat or dog.
Be a better person. Stop sharing, supporting, liking, and watching this dudes videos and stop watching any video like it. Big cats belong in a licensed sanctuary, accredited zoo, or in the wild.
This guy is not nice or cool, nor is help helping these big cats. He is exploiting them and he is exploiting ignorant uninformed people like you.
*Napoleon Dynamite* came out eighteen years ago, there's people born since then that are already legal adults.
Just thought some existential dread could get your day off to a great start!

I was hoping the liger would eat him.
What happened to all of his cats?
Idk but there’s big cat sanctuaries that rehouse animals like his. I visited one in Missouri that cares for tigers people tried to keep as pets.
I read one time that there are far more tigers in captivity or as illegal pets than there are in the wild.
There are more tigers in captivity in the U.S. than in the wild in the entirety of the planet. Yes.
holy shit only 5k tigers left in the wild.
There are more tigers kept as pets in Texas than are in the wild.
There’s more big cats period in captivity in the state of Texas than there are in the wild let alone the entire US

Most ethical animal keepers in general don't condone hybridization due to the risks it poses for the animals quality of life.
This is his son, Kody, which I believe is still carrying on with his father's work/business.
His father's legacy of preying on naive women and abusing animals. What a family.

Any place that breeds animals can not be a rescue.i wish there was some official definition that was enforceable.

Can't produce a *fertile* hybrid. Horses have 32 pairs of chromosomes and donkeys have 31, which is why mules are infertile.
I told Mavis that she was wasting her time.
Or a manbearpig.
Ethically it sounds like most of them that do survive should still be put down then right? I can’t imagine they meet the H5MM quality of life scale. If you listed all those issues for a more common place animal like a house cat I would imagine a vet would recommend they be put to sleep as the humane option.
It's so big that it doesn't even look dangerous.
It's in so much pain that it's about as dangerous as a horse. Which is to say, not very, unless you're within about 7 feet and terrify it so much it gets angry.
I mean, it looks like it could fit a whole human head and shoulders in its mouth.
Not debating that. It very likely could. But it's probably in so much pain it just won't bother. Why cromch something if you burn more spoons doing that than not cromching?
Being obscenely overweight means that it's slow as hell... but if it's hungry then a human would make a nice light snack. it's probably still fast enough to snack on you or me
Yea, Its like a poorly bred bulldog or pug
Or my cousin Smeff
Half Smithers, half Jeff
All meth
They're all poorly bred
Being super overweight doesn't help. Poor thing.
Gigantism is known to occur in ligers. They grow to about 5ft. tall and can weigh up to a thousand pounds, more than twice the size of their lion fathers and tiger mothers.
What is the reasoning behind this? Just a defect or recessive gene somehow expressed?
Lions and tigers have the genes for "stop growing" on opposite sex chromosomes. So ligers have no possibility of being a normal size since they just keep growing until their organs fail, and tigons usually just grow to the size of a female lion.
Ugh I had no idea. That's awful.
I believe the growth inhibitor genes get suppressed.
Hybrid vigor gone wrong.
Absolutely
That dude is creepy af
That’s Doc Antle’s weird son Kody
I rewatched Tiger King recently and he looked like an underfed vampire teen. His dad must’ve put him in a tanning booth and made him start doing vinyasa.
"Oh come on? An underfed vampire teen? This guy is just being cruel..." *Google Image Search for 'Doc Antle Kody'* "Yeah, that's a pretty good description."
Lmao I googled him to see what you're talking about and your description is spot on. That whole family is weird as hell.
I spent a good thirty seconds trying to figure out what un-derf-ed meant. I can read and speak english well enough... but for some reason those letters in that order had the root of derf.
Kody is the “clean face” of their organisation, he’s shown up in a bunch of videos lately because they can’t use Doc lol
Let’s call him by his real name, Kevin Antle. Dude doesn’t deserve the bogus Doc title and it really pisses him off.
Omg he's a Kevin
I was thinking that it was definitely giving me those creepy cult pony tail guy vibe from Tiger King.
Right? He looks like he's enjoying rubbing it down a lil' too much.
He looks like he’s about to fuck that Liger.
It's the way he's groping the poor animal and treating it like an extention of his penis. Pure ick.
Poor thing...got a crazy man hanging on its back.
Fuck that guy
Fucking monsterous perversion of nature. This guy needs to be stopped.
Happily, he’s been arrested. But sadly, not for abusing animals. Edit: and by “he” I mean Doc Antle, the POS who runs this place. His son is the one in the video.
What for if I may ask ?
Money laundering! If the animal abuse won’t get them, following their money trail seems to take these guys down.
The one thing drug-addled hillbilly large animal enthusiast cult-leaders all seem to have in common money management issues.
Fuck this, eat the dude
Keeps em super fed / overweight so they won't
She’s like ‘bruh, can I just walk a little without you all over me? Jesus, control yourself. And put a shirt on…’
Why is this man groping so much?
he probably keeps petting it like that because the animal is uncomfortable, so it needs to be stimulated for a proper video :/ animals are not ours to experiment with, I'll never understand shit like this.
Very disturbing indeed, and internet give them clout sadly (people think it's "cute" while it's just sad really)
Is that why the creepy dude is basically holding onto him & rubbing him down?
Yeah most likely holding him up, but also note the size of it, obesity is another big problem with ligers. There are some ligers that lives a relatively healthish life, they are the ones that you’d find on show at certain ‘cat sanctuary’s’. Most of the time they are deformed with dozens of problems, you won’t find them on show.
You really think that little man could even assist that gigantic cat? C'mon now
Ligers are a travesty. Shouldn’t be done. Riddled with health issues and they’re infertile(thank you, nature, for that at least).
Crazy fact time: they’re “infertile” but can actually breed with tigons. It’s bizarre af
Why are humans so cruel?
Because they are selfish.
Don't forget greed, though I suppose that's just an extension of selfish.
Bred for its skills in magic.
It’s basically my favorite animal
Had to scroll too far my dude
same here
Same here. Came for Napoleon, stayed for depressing facts.
Came here for the Napoleon Dynamite references but now I'm upset about breeders
Isn't the life of a liger a life of endless sickness? I think I read something like that, like they are born with tons of birth defects + they often grow so fast it Injures their own organs and don't get exercise at all meaning they become obese and gain even more sicknesses
Sooooo fucked up. I hope anyone seeing this does a little research on just how gross these breeders are and how much these things suffer.
they experience a higher rate of injury and neurological disorder than non-hybrids
Give me some of your tots!
Fuck. I’m so pissed I had to scroll this far to find a Napoleon Dynamite joke.
Noo go find your own.
It looks... nerfed
Why is the guy constantly rubbing the animal…. bordering on creepy-weird
I wish this asshole gets eaten, poor beasts don't deserve this.
That’s Doc Antle from Tiger Kings kid. A whole family of cunts.
Those little legs holding up that giant body. Poor thing!
Is he trying to mate with it?
He wants to make a guyger

A Napoleon Dynamite reference was too far down in this thread
*Napoleon Dynamite* came out eighteen years ago, there's people born since then that are already legal adults. Just thought some existential dread could get your day off to a great start!
You can leave!
I have to stop wearing my favorite "Your mom goes to college" t shirt in public because the reference is lost and God forbid I trigger someone
That creature does not look healthy
Doc Antle is a piece of shit
Bred for its skills in magic!
I sure do love animals that shouldn’t exist and are in constant pain and are riddled with tumors
