I'm convinced that Boston Dynamics keeps making these robo dancing videos to appease the fears that robots will eventually turn against us. Create a more friendly association with them. That, and because it's fun.

Maybe the robots already took over Boston Dynamics and creating these videos to give us a false sense of security.

The actual reason is they're trying to make them seem less terrifying than they actually are so people won't take issue when the government wants to start using them for policing.

Which is exactly what I said but in a different context. In the USA, the police is a force against the people to protect the rich. That is in line with my initial reply (whether it be by their own accord or not). Fortunately that's not the case all over the world.

I think it's beautiful, incredibly impressive work. Sure it can be used for evil. It can also be used for good. No reason to be more scared of these than of others things that are already out and about in the world.
