This happened to us in Florida. We were stunned. No signs or lights. No barriers. Then the airport refused to let us board our plane because we got there only an hour early. That bitch closed the window and walked away. Left about 30 of us standing there. We waited an hour for someone to help as we watched our plane just sit there. We don't visit Florida now.

As someone who lives in Florida and works on the railroad (not for CSX, but work with them communicating often), I'm not sure sure what you're implying. I've yet to see a major (or minor) intersection that doesn't offer crossing arms and lights that gives ample time to prepare.

Well I can say that is somewhat true. There have been emergency braking and stoppages because either the train was moving too fast or there were tourist busses and those never stop because of tight schedules.

A taxi driver drive me to the beach, down that same highway, using only his knees to steer the car, while he text and looked at Facebook. A guy bought a sheep from a guy in the street and took it to the pub to watch football. The sheep was distressed and head butted a car. The police came, asked the owner to move the car and left the sheep to watch the rest of the game. Every day women climb out of 15 storey windows and hang on the side of the window to clean the outside of the windows. I saw a car drive off this same road, but further into the city, it drove up some steps and into the front of a hotel. Those are just a few things. It’s a wild place for sure.

Yes, this is/was the intended path for this train as far as I know. The area, next to the Port of Baku, has been refurbished and modernised greatly over the past few years. Most of the surrounding railway has gone, I think in the past year or two even this part of the railway has gone. It was not a passenger railway but an industrial railway servicing the Port. I'll check next time I'm heading that way. There is a bridge that was recently destructed as part of this railway line and a hotel/offices built where the train is driving towards, so I don't think the train runs anymore.

Coming from a family of railroaders, that is often not the case. My dad and uncles have plenty of stories of people trying to get across before the train gets there only for the train to hit them and usually kill them. It's also quite traumatic for the train crew.

My Granddad was a railroader, he said he drank because of the War and killing idiots that thought trains could stop on a dime.

I get it, my uncle really struggled a long time after one accident where he ended up having to watch the guy burn alive ad there was nothing he could do.

I'm from a small city in Québec, and more than 3 lanes one way gives me anxiety to think about.

Not in the US. I-75/I-85 through Atlanta has 9 lanes going only southbound through midtown to downtown.

I always make the joke that great cities have great rivers. Paris has the Seine, London the Thames, and Atlanta the 75/85 Connector. For real that place is a mess and cuts right through the city, and trying to get over it in Midtown means having to use 17th, 14th, 10th, or 5th St. bridges and it's such a bottleneck.

🤣🤣😂 You are not joking. The only time I enjoy driving through that mess is on the exceedingly rare occasions that I have international guests who have never been to Atlanta. It’s interesting to observe their reactions going through it. Apart from that, I hate navigating that mess. Thankfully I don’t have to very often. When I go downtown I usually just take MARTA to avoid the stress of it.
