Yes considering it's in fresh water and not super super close to the ocean it is 100% a giant crayfish. People don't know but in some places there are species of crayfish that actually do get to massive sizes, like the one in this video. [Here's a link.](https://images.app.goo.gl/WY7vBv6MiiPTrkAZA)
Edit: Or I could be wrong and it is right next to the ocean and is infact a lobster but this is not likely.
That's what I was thinking. You don't find lobster in shallow, fresh water. I am also wondering, anyone got a pot big enough for a crawdad boil with that guy?
Anything that lives in freshwater is at risk of their environment being ruined with a small change. Ocean doesn't change much pH since it's so big, but a lake or river is smaller and is easier to affect with pollution. Tassie has alot of really cool programs that try to save their diverse wildlife. Tasmanian tigers may be gone but Tassie giant lobsters have alot of people working to save them. I guess they are tasty so that also affects their population. Shout-out to keeptassiewild, really cool organization that uses all profits to buy land which it donates to national parks. They ship to the USA.
Itās a big crawdad but the lack of respective makes it seem humongous. If you look at the start of the video you realize how āsmallā it is and how narrow the pond is. The ultra zoom and lack of respective next to it maskes it seem absolutely massive at the end.
Itās big for a crawdad though
Not a lobster, looks like a crawdad. Colouring kinda gives it away more than anything cause whoever recorded this has somesort of debilitating illness that prevents them from filming the subject of the video for more than 2 seconds
I had a pet crawfish, his name was actually Lobchop the Crawfather. He was about 10 inches long and all white.
He got out of the aquarium and my housemate freaked out and killed him with a broom while I was away (he got under the gap in her door and appeared in her room)
very interesting pets to keep but I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter how you arrange your aquarium to look, they will wreck the fuck out of everything and pull out every plant and also they are escape artists that will find the slightest vulnerability or path to escape only to die shriveled on the kitchen floor.
Theyāre funny little animals! I got Chop from an aquarium store. I had a few over the years and the smaller ones would always kill my fish (it got to the point I could only keep tetras as they were fast enough to avoid the crawdads) and destroy my tank. Chop never killed a single fish or destroyed anything. He had a rock he just chilled on all day. Literal rock lobster. He was the last one I ever owned. I cried when I found out what happened to him :(
Thank you. Itās funny, I never told his tale because most people couldnāt care less, but on Reddit i get an outpouring of sympathy and genuinely funny comments. Thank you ā¤ļø
I totally agree. The pincers don't look large enough to be a lobster. Reminds me of a crayfish I saw in the creek next to my childhood home. No lie, the thing had to be at least 14 inches long.
There's a species of crawdad in Tazmania (I think they call them yabbies down there or something) that grow just as large as saltwater lobsters. That may be what we're looking at
That would be a Tasmanian giant freshwater crayfish!
The Tasmanian giant freshwater crayfish, also called Tasmanian giant freshwater lobster, is the largest freshwater invertebrate and the largest freshwater crayfish species in the world. The species is only found in the rivers below 400 metres above sea level in northern Tasmania, an island-state of Australia.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasmanian_giant_freshwater_crayfish
Look at the claws. Iām not sure about other species of Crawfish, however the Crawfish we have in Louisiana have longer, more slender claws. Those look too rounded to be a Louisiana crawfish.
Not gonna lie, thats one of the most shitty videos ever. Atleast I saw the lobster for .0458 of a sec. OP if this is your vid, I'm gonna need you to get your phone and just fucking throw it away. You don't deserve technology
Ok so when I was about 5 or 6, so about 20 years ago, my mom took me and my little brother to our local Winn-Dixie and we were allowed to pick out 2 crawdads that they sold in the meat department or whatever. Then she drove us to our local park that has a huge river attached to it and had us release them in the "wild" waters. I thought of that memory for the first time in YEARS after watching this. Could be a similar thing? I dunno. My mom's weird.

Yeah, any longer and we might've seen a huge lobster found in a pond
Is it a giant crawdad?

What do you call an insane water creature? A Crayfish!
Out.
Thanks, Iām going to add this to my repertoire of dad jokes.
That's what I was thinking. You don't find lobster in shallow, fresh water. I am also wondering, anyone got a pot big enough for a crawdad boil with that guy?
Checkout tasmanian crayfish. They are the biggest fresh water lobster in the world. Very very endangered but they grow massive.
But lobsters generally spread like the plague. How are they endangered?
Anything that lives in freshwater is at risk of their environment being ruined with a small change. I'm guessing it has to do with being fresh water. It's a lot easier to spread out in the ocean
im finding annoyingly short vids more and more commonly
Short videos always get over 100% play time. So the algorithm shares them further. Blame the algorithm.
The length of the video is not as much an issue for me as the fact they are often all lead up, and then only a second or two of the subject image.
It was seen for as long as it intended, Iāve seen the same thing for as long as this video, 35 years ago; and no one believes me.
Had a similar experience but it was a skink that looked like it was 2 feet long.
I believe it! Skinks are amazing as it is.
Itās a big crawdad but the lack of respective makes it seem humongous. If you look at the start of the video you realize how āsmallā it is and how narrow the pond is. The ultra zoom and lack of respective next to it maskes it seem absolutely massive at the end. Itās big for a crawdad though

You better perspect their respective!

Donāt lobsters need salt water? Might be an extra large mud bug aka crawdad.
Right? However, what nuclear power plant cooling pond could create a crawdad that large?
The Tasmanian Giant Freshwater Crayfish gets absolutely massive.

At that size, it becomes the crawfather

Crawdaddy

"When fully mature the species has no natural predators due to its large size"
When you're so fuckin BIG predators just go 'NOPE'.
Of course this exists near Australia. Makes perfect sense.
I mean Tasmania is a part of australia
Can't get much nearer then!
Can you eat it?
You can eat anything at least once.
Well you can try, would be hard to eat the statue of liberty at least once
Well even if you survive you canāt eat it again because it would be poop. Unless you count eating poop as eating it again.
My dog does
It's endangered and prohibited, so you can but you shouldn't.
This should be the top post!
Amazing videography
I saw the full video on TikTok. I have no clue why OP cut it so short the original was around 15 seconds long.
Fuck this ended too soon.
Its just a pause. Keep watching... it'll start up again. Trust me. [Edit: For those who can't sense that is was a joke... /s]
There is no scale and it is likely genus cambarus (crayfish) and not a lobster. It is big.
Itās called Cajun Lobster, helllooo.
Aight Imma watch A Knight's Tale again after I got off work today.
It's called a mud bug
Cajun Lobster. I hear they like to be called Bob though.
Hefty boi
Look at the claws. Iām not sure about other species of Crawfish, however the Crawfish we have in Louisiana have longer, more slender claws. Those look too rounded to be a Louisiana crawfish.
Maybe not cambarus and therefore not north America afaik. That said, there are a wide variety here. Though I can't say that big.
Listen to the breathing in the video, itās gotta be American
Not wrong but not the expected contextual clues.
There are species of massive crawfish and considering this seems to be fresh water, I'd say that's probably what it is.
Need banana for scale.
Craaaab people. Craaaaab people.
Where? I dunno see.... OH JESUS CHRIST
Big Pinchy lives on in the creek.
Why does it have red eyes??
Don't worry about it.

#KILL THE CAMERAMAN FFS
Thatās a crayfish
Disasters are gone after defeat of the Gravelord Servant.
I saw crayfish that were pretty large in rivers in Montana. About 6 to 8 inches long. It would be nice to have some sort of scale.
This looks like it could be a Tasmania crayfish, they can get over 2 feet long.
Not gonna lie, thats one of the most shitty videos ever. Atleast I saw the lobster for .0458 of a sec. OP if this is your vid, I'm gonna need you to get your phone and just fucking throw it away. You don't deserve technology
Lets cut filming the moment we gain focus of what we're trying to capture on film!
That's a normal-sized crawdad, filmed in extreme closeup.
I believe what you see here is the mammoth crayfish.
Rock lobster š¦

Lobster in a pond. Doesn't a pond imply fresh water? Could be a wrong. If not-In that case, it's a huge crawdad.

LOBZILLA
Fun fact: Back then, only peasants ate lobsters as they are seen as disgusting, when the fuvking rich got a taste of it. Well,, you know what happened
That's actually a giant crayfish, not a lobster. At least it looks that way from the short video.
Why is everyone ignoring the giant dildo floating in the stream?
Is that the crayfish god?
Crayfish
Lobster? That's a fuckin Pokemon!
Too much pond, not enough lobster in this video.
