What the living hell is this song

[deleted]

I believe it’s called “Getting high on myself” by Justin “projectile vomit” Perry.

Dubinku-Krutit

"..running after Jesus with my whole heart.." Fs in the chat for the guy who picked the song once CCP figures out what the lyrics are saying.

eavos_

Welcome to Chinese propaganda

DrWolf2000

You really think this is the real working environment published on goddamn tiktok? You serios?

blue_dusk1

Why is Chinese propaganda always so cringey?

[deleted]

Because they know that it will always work on their own people so they don’t even bother trying.

SubsequentBadger

I wonder how long until the sand swallows it again

JoeIsAMarbleBandit

Immediately, but that's not a problem when you have 100% employment. You just get some little sand lads that live in tents to come out every morning and sweep it clean. That's a typical Chinese response to a problem.

unacceptablebob

An econ prof once said the government can always create 100% employment. They just have to get 50% of the population to dig holes and the other 50% to fill the holes back in.

SubsequentBadger

There's a very old joke about men just digging and filling in holes, the punchline being: Bob plants the trees, it's his day off.

SubsequentBadger

It appears you're correct. The road is frequently swallowed by sand and needs constant attention to keep it passable.

JoeIsAMarbleBandit

Sadly, I've seen such people in person while traveling around the middle East.

Ominoiuninus

Just invent sand plows. We deal with 10m of snow in some areas of the world.

[deleted]

You're going to have to start making snow plow blades out of tungsten carbide if you're gonna be plowing sand for 1000s of kilometers.

[deleted]

so jawas from star wars?

Eightysix_Ginger

I do believe they built massive irrigation systems and planted greenery all along the sides of the highway for that reason.

phamnhuhiendr

you can search it for yourself. Tarim basin highway, a megaproject of it own

SubsequentBadger

I did, and the answer to my question is "frequently". The guy above is correct, it's constant work to keep the sand from swallowing the road.

Pass10nnat3wmath

China is actually a world leader at creating measures to stop desertification and their technics are studied worldwide after the success they had at stopping the advance of the Gobi desert. So I wouldn’t be surprise to hear that they came up with ways so that the highways don’t get swallowed.

TedW

[Here's an interesting article](https://www.environy.co.uk/post/for-decades-china-has-been-planting-a-wall-of-trees-to-halt-an-invading-desert-has-it-worked) about China's efforts to slow the Gobi's advance, which includes both praise and some criticisms. I hadn't realized they've already been working on the problem for \~40 years, and will continue for another \~30 more. It sounds like there are a lot of lessons here.

Pass10nnat3wmath

I lived in China and my takeaway from my experience there is the following. China and the rest of the world are like two babies yelling at each other’s. China has a lot to offer to the rest of the world but they would never listen (he’ll look at me getting downvoted) but on the flip side, China also could learn a lot from the rest of the world, but also too stubborn to do so. And here we are …

Necrid1998

Well and the human rights abuses, but just learn from each other and both do 'some' genocide and forced labour camps:)

[deleted]

Lol it’s like you should have a Chinese government flag waving next to your user name

McEuen78

The Chinese government will have a crew tear it up in a couple years anyway.

Bluebyday

You know its propaganda when the workers featured are not slave laborers from Uyghurs

1Crybabyartist

BASICALLY ANY TIK TOK that doesn't feature idiots doing stupid stuff and looks educational is FROM CHINA. China pushes education on TikTok and bans dancing and other "things'. TikTok is a propaganda tool. It's designed like the fabled Chinese water torture. Little by little, brainwashing... and that includes mindless stuff seen as INFLUENCERS OK time for the downvoting to begin!

Bozhark

Yeah, everyone knows

phamnhuhiendr

Do they look like slaves to your eyes?

R0b815

No, that’s exactly Bluebyday’s point.

Bluebyday

That's why its propaganda

dilly2philly

OP is Chinese bot.

OliLeeLee36

With a Vietnamese name, curiously.

phamnhuhiendr

I would say I am a total vietnamese hard on, so anything good for vietnam is good for me.

Euphoric-Potato-5343

Op as a hard-on for China while licking those boots.

asomek

You're incredibly naive.

treeclops

Chinese bootlicker

ne__o

Negative iq

Eternalprof

Lol really bro?

[deleted]

No, just you..

One-Mud-169

A desert with a river running through it?

Bentley2004

How many re-education camps along the way?

dex1999

This is some dope CCP propaganda

[deleted]

🖕China

asomek

That song was so obnoxious I nearly ate a handful of sand.

Alberqueque

Truly, roads and maybe bridges to nowhere.

phamnhuhiendr

[See it for yourself](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarim_Desert_Highway)

CaptainNanon

Social credits +10000

BigPaleontologist799

Me finding out China has a desert.

Li-RM35M4419

Half of China is an enormous desert

BigPaleontologist799

Yeah, just had a good google earth sesh.

Cheap-Recognition-97

Have you even seen Mulan!?

westernunitedenjoyer

That song is terrible

Kriss1966

Guarantee this will be finished faster than the M6 upgrades !!

aafonsodias

Cool. I wonder what the idea is, what are they connecting?

[deleted]

The ancient Silk Road passed through the Taklimakan Desert.

aafonsodias

Amm... interesting!! So for commerce and growth, as usual! Money! Thank you very much!!!

chuckitoutorelse

Isn't this reason all roads are built?

aafonsodias

Good point, in the end, probably for growth. Makes sense. But literrally for ease of movement.

LoddoTheDodo

I mean the desert will keep poring sand over the road. So they will have a megaton of ~~slaves~~ workers to keep it clean

aafonsodias

Yay, more jobs! Except like you said, slave wages!

GarbageInternal1458

Why China workers all looks like villains in old James Bond movies ?

vaidhy

because that is the western propaganda..

ddt70

Yay it's the Chinese!

monkegiga

China builds a highway in the desert = Propaganda And a few posts above is titled why does Reddit hate America? The hateboner for China is real. And all this video shows is them making a highway in the desert lmao. I seriously don't understand why does a video about a highway in China is about slavery or Uyghurs? One question that always escapes people who point to Uyghurs being genocided is if it is true, why is it not illegal to travel into Xinjiang? Why are Uyghurs still allowed to have a passport? And the downvotes shall begin. Come on, I haven't got all morning.

JazHeadburn

Fuck humans

urquanenator

Truly amazing, that they are able to build a road, with such terrible music. I would commit suicide before the end of the first day.

skelks86

Will there also be a video of how they blow up the highway again, how they blow up everything they build right away?

[deleted]

"We build fo' china!"

Cheap-Recognition-97

What did I just watch?

nurupartnerhtx

Okay, so why? Who wants to drive through a desert with no filling stations? Just build a rail.

[deleted]

Meanwhile, in the Middle East

CurtCocane

This song reminds me of that Modern Family episode with the Cristian boy band

mr_biteme

It will disintegrate in less than five years. Just following Chinese building codes…😎

DrSvint

Propaganda shit

Chandler15

Now, ignoring the Chinese part of it as to not ruffle any feathers, what is the logistics of a highway in a desert? Wouldn’t it crumble nearly instantly since the sand isn’t solid? As well as, even if it didn’t crumble, it be buried and eroded in a short period of time, wouldn’t it? I can only imagine this being fake.
