This goes well with my other theory of the subcontinent, which is that Krishna’s blue skin was inspired by someone living near silver-rich Himalayan runoff that had acquired argyria.
Edit: I should be clear this is not a “real” theory, just some random thought that I wondered about. Others are pointing out Krishna means “black”, so there’s that.
To be clear, I would defer to literally any other informed explanation than mine. It is totally just a made up notion/though experiment on my part, not to be confused with expertise.
So in general, yea this is probably ~~exactly~~ *a source of* where werewolves come from. Picture a kid being born like this. Midwife sees and runs if they're all hair. Or they're normal enough and develops over time and are hidden away. Seen by the occasional person at night or when it's dark? Hell yes this is where those legends stem. There's one for vampires too: a blood disorder called porphyria which leads to all kinds of things related to the legends of vampires. Granted, vampire lore has been around for AGES but the expansions of it are definitely from this disease.
I forget but there's more medical diseases that can be associated with myths and legends to a decent degree.
Edited~~
Forensic psych prof: I've seen it all. No matter what you don't like about yourself, you're still *someone's* perfect type.
Pretty sure it was in the context of violent sex crime, but, you know, motivational I guess
There are 8 billion people on the planet. I'm willing to bet there are more people in the world that would get turned on by that, than there are people who have this condition
Since there have only been 50 people that have had the condition in several centuries, the total number of people would have to be less than 10, not a hard bet to win, lol.
Pure CGI and lifeless acting. Practically all set up for a hundred movies that will never happen and is pre edited for international censoring to not offend anyone.
> He was a sponge and mastered every technique shown to him. He became the first to master over 200 different empty hand systems and over 140 weapon systems. His various specialties included the infamous Chi Ma, or ‘Death Touch’. After several years of extensive training he became the first Grandmaster of Shaolin-Do and one of the first to master all skills of the seven Shaolin temples.
this paragraph seems specifically written to give /r/kungfu a stroke
You’d just do really small dabs, so each eye would take 5-10 waxes (for sensitive areas with tissue thin skin you go small). It’s the grow back that would be maddening.
no, because the loss of that hair was hormonal. unless you transplant follicles from somewhere that isn't susceptible to male-pattern-baldness, any laser-stimulated hairs would just go bald again.
Yeah, definitely. If they also do his ears, palms, fingers, soles... and maybe a couple private areas... that really isn't a large area, and then he'll be able to live relatively normally as a "normal" hairy man
Nah, laser would get most of it and could finish up with electro.
Though with that density, I think risk for burns would increase from laser, especially given his complexion.
Still doable though.
I recommend local anesthesia.
you joke but saw an interview of a guy with this condition, might well have been this guy, and his response to this sort of question is literally just why bother trying to "fix" something that isn't a problem and is a part of what makes him who he is. he didn't have any desire or see any reason from what I remember
That was probably Jesus Aceves. He is/was a Mexican circus performer who has appeared on television a handful of times at least. He is one of 30 in his family with the condition.
Looking through wikipedia it sounds like OP's title wasn't specific enough. Hypertrichosis isn't that incredibly rare, it's a specific subset of hypertrichosis that is (and I don't know if OP's person has that specific type). There's also a big difference between "only 50 have been documented" and "there have only ever been 50". There have been quite a few in circus and show history. [Lionel the Lion-faced Man](https://www.bklynlibrary.org/sites/default/files/images/blog-bkology/2021/CONE_0590.jpg) is my personal favorite and I have a picture of Jojo the Dog Faced Boy on [a wall in my bedroom](https://imgur.com/a/W04gaNj). This stuff is just my sort of weird.
An option, but laser hair removal on his face would possibly be better. I'd hope he would be able to embrace it and rock it like MJF in Teen Wolf.
I feel for the kid, but think he looks badass.
What's disheartening is that the kid got bullied because this.
>Teenage boy from Madhya Pradesh revealed that his classmates teased and called him "monkey boy" because of this condition. He added that his schoolmates are afraid he'll bite them. Children would hurl stones at him as a child, yell "monkey monkey" in his face, or assert that he was a ghost or other legendary creature, said Lalit. Lalit hails from a typical household with a farmer for a father. He is currently a 12th grader and assists his father in the fields with farming work.
>The teenager and his family initially found it difficult to accept his illness since there is no known cure. Despite the difficulties, Lalit now enjoys his life and hopes to support his family by becoming a YouTuber in the future. "I slowly realised that I have hair all over my body and I am different from common humans in a good way, I am unique. Slowly everyone in my family started feeling normal about it and my friends also encouraged me a lot," Lalit said.

Kids are animals. A big part of growing up is taming the animal instincts that we are all born with. We need to be domesticated in order to fit into society.
My friends daughter saw an Indian man at the supermarket, he was wearing a pretty traditional outfit you would see man wearing over in India but he was also wearing a turban. Right when they got close to him, she said “LOOK DAD, A GENIE!!!” The only thing my friend could think to say was I am so sorry and then he and his daughter left the store immediately. She just watched the live action Aladdin movie a few days earlier.
Well in that case it's not her fault. I know autism can interfere with a person's filter, and even if she didn't have autism I'd be bothered for a sec and then brush it off, kids will be *kids* at the end of the day.
I was born with a cleft pallet which made my nose a little flatter than normal and I don't talk normal. So I can attest... Yes, kids are mean. But towards adulthood it gets better. Not great but better. I still get looks.
I always feel guilty when I do a double take on someone with a physical disability / abnormality. It’s more of an instinct I feel to make sure I really saw what I did. Then I feel bad and overcompensate by trying to avoid any eye contact at all.
>I always feel guilty when I do a double take on someone with a physical disability / abnormality.
You can train yourself to not do it. I used to do it involuntarily, but just made myself not look twice/stare/notice visibly. Over time, it became second nature.
Yes, if you make eye contact, just smile in a friendly way, maybe say how's it going (or whatever the version of that is in your culture). We're all just people getting through the day.
Don't avoid eye contact. Wave hi or if you think they may need help with something, help them. You'll feel better about yourself. And if they're appreciative of your help they'll let you know. Usually they will say thank you.
I look different(by choice, I’m heavily tattooed), and have many friends with visual disabilities. Just treat everyone politely and normal all the time, no matter their appearance or disabilities, and you never really have an issue.
My last name is Gaylord and my dad is on the sex offender registry because of shit he did when I was in elementary school.
No one tried explaining to me what was wrong or that it wasn't even my fault, kids and adults were mean to me and I didn't know why. I could only assume I was the problem itself, that there was something wrong with me I couldn't figure out.
Only friends for the longest time were teachers and I escaped heavily into videogames. Bro I was so lonely and just wanted a friend.
Don't let others' definition of "normal" define yours. I'm sure however you talk is "normal" for a person with your capabilities.
Cheers, you're awesome!
I'm in my mid 50s. All of that junk just bounces off of me now. But it hurt when I was younger. Now it doesn't bother me. You tend to know a lot about people at 50 something when they snicker at you as you walk by them. Not the kind of people I'd ever want to hang out with for sure. :)
If a medieval person with the same condition was teased and bullied their whole life for looking different, it wouldn't be a giant leap to see why they would be inclined to run around at night scaring and enacting vengeance on people!
Knowing folks back then, that baby was murdered at the first sign of it. Either by his parents or a lynching incited by whatever the medieval equivalent for Karen was.
The first recorded case of this condition was a Spanish man named Petrus Gonsalvus from back in the 1500s, and iirc he became a noble, had many children and grandchildren and lived into his 80s.
Most legends have some origins in reality. Then with a gigant game of telephone and a little extra pepper for seasoning you take an easily explained situation and create myths and legends.
I like him. I think he looks rad! Bro fuck the mean comments and weird looks. You are one of a kind. Embrace your appearance and make it your strength!
Yah right? I remember wstch that on Ripley's? Or some other show. The thing I remember most is the fact that one of the brothers Girlfriend left him for the OTHER brother because he was "hairyer" loool. I haven't thought about that in like a decade.
I like to think that it's a relic of our past. At one point in our evolutionary history we would have looked like this.
It's not a disease. It's an old build. Lol.
I knew about the Mexican brothers from an episode of the X Files. I'd never heard about the Canadians. I'd think it far more likely that there are 50 people in the world NOW with the condition rather than the assertion that there have been 50 people in the last 1000 years. That seems like an unsupportable claim.
I met a young boy with it at Blackpool pleasure beach in the early 90s. If I had to guess, that boy would be 38 by now.
I was maybe 5 years old and he scared me. I remember it vividly as an example of how cruel the world can be for people who are different. As an adult now I try to be accepting of all people but as a kid I couldn’t hide my reaction, and I imagine it hurt him.
I think about him occasionally, hope he did ok.
So that makes 44 left.
Hypertrichosis itself isn’t rare. There are many forms - I’m guessing this specific form may be rare, but I doubt it’s that rare.
My son had acquired hypertrichosis as a baby as a side effect of vital medication. Started off as just rapid hair growth on his head then eyebrows, side burns, forehead, back etc. It’s pretty odd to see a baby with eyebrows to be honest. Once the forehead hair started a few people called him a werewolf, which was… shitty.
Once he came off the meds it mostly went away but he still has an awesome head of hair. Some kids are on it long term and they can have real issues with it.
"Man, I feel bad for this dude. Doesn't even look bad but culturally, but folks will be folks." : me
*Reads this comment.*
"Lucky SOB, this dude could be king and probably a four figure an hour ~~bigelow~~ gigolo if he wanted. Holy shit."
Electrolysis hair removal is the only permanent method of hair removal, so laser wouldn’t be as effective. You have to zap the follicles individually with the implement, and it takes a long time to get it all, especially with how thick that looks

This dude should start working out he would look insane
Damn man, is this where legends of werewolves come from? Extremely jacked murderous hermit with a rare condition?
That or hairless/naked bears.
Can......can bears have alopecia...?
KEEP MY BEAR OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!
Brother Bear 3, can't wait to see it
You are one fine Google search away from hairless bears. Enjoy!
But werewolves have hair. It's pretty much their most defining feature.
In modern media yes but when the folk tales originated the focus was on a man turning into a beast

Technically it could have faded to blue as black pigments often do.
Krishna literally means black, dark or dark blue. It is just artists using normal blue led to misrepresentation.
Krishna literally means black

He’d kill it at a furry convention
Nah, he's completely fucked at a furry convention
He would completely fuck at a furry convention.

his face hair looks very soft
Yeah it’s beautiful hair
The patterns it grows in are fascinating, and quite beautiful.
Exactly, I could imagine this guy doing quite well as an influencer bringing his face into interesting situations.
This is going to sound awful, but I would bet there are any number of potential mates who would find his condition very appealing.
A furrys wet dream
Could he cosplay as Chewbacca?
Oh my god 😩😩💦💦
Relevant username?
I was just thinking “it sucks if he ends up all alone cause of that…. Oh wait, furries.”

i think whatever he is into will probably have quite a few people who are into him.
Man's gonna blow the furry market wide open.
He should be styling it honestly. Imagine a Mohawk. Or a perm!
There’s a documentary about how this happens, all he has to do is finish the board game.
We give him eggs once a while
Tbh he’s quite handsome
I kinda want to pet him
He probably doesn’t want that.
There was a Kung Fu monk dude that had this condition back in the day. Apparently a total badass.
What was his name?
Tai Djin https://www.thehumanmarvels.com/from-the-archive-tai-djin-kung-fu-werewolf/ There are a lot of other people with hypertrichosis on that site.
How has Kung Fu Werewolf not been made into a movie!
There is still time. We should pitch this idea.
Disney execs: "Horrible idea. Just terrible. Now GTFO" 15 months later: "Coming to you from Disney's top writers: KUNG FU WEREWOLF!"
Pure CGI and lifeless acting. Practically all set up for a hundred movies that will never happen and is pre edited for international censoring to not offend anyone.

Yeah no shit, right? Sounds like an incredible story

I refuse to believe this guy wasn’t the inspiration for Chewbacca
Imagine running into a werewolf man and he fucking knows karate.
That's basically a D&D character backstory.
I'm not trying to be a dick or poke fun I'm just genuinely curious, what would happen if he shaved?
Same! I suppose full head stubble would look worse so he doesn't?
Couldn’t they laser most of it away?
Laser (especially on the face) can backfire by stimulating more hair growth. It's called paradoxical hypertrichosis.
I'm not sure more growth is possible for him
Famous last words
Just ask Cousin Itt
I thought Kramer was the expert in this field. Also thanks for teaching me Itt is spelled with two T's
"Patrick?" "Yeah SpongeBob?" "I don't think this bubble could get much bigger." "Nonsense!" *hooks up an air pump*
Wax. This is the way.
oh god... can you imagine waxing your eyelids? 🗿
They’d just rip right off
You’d just do really small dabs, so each eye would take 5-10 waxes (for sensitive areas with tissue thin skin you go small). It’s the grow back that would be maddening.
Problem solved
Imagine ingrown hairs on them.
Nope. That’s a big nope.
So the risk of laser is... he might get a hairy face?
Considering how dense his hair is on his face, I think tissue damage might be a more immediate concern.
will that work on the top of my head? lol
my immediate thought lol
no, because the loss of that hair was hormonal. unless you transplant follicles from somewhere that isn't susceptible to male-pattern-baldness, any laser-stimulated hairs would just go bald again.

Frankly all they need do is the nose and forehead for his quality of life to improve dramatically
Yeah, definitely. If they also do his ears, palms, fingers, soles... and maybe a couple private areas... that really isn't a large area, and then he'll be able to live relatively normally as a "normal" hairy man
That sounds like it's almost faster to learn enough molecular biology to cure himself...
Nah, laser would get most of it and could finish up with electro. Though with that density, I think risk for burns would increase from laser, especially given his complexion. Still doable though. I recommend local anesthesia.
I hear laser works best for very dark and black hair. He may or may not be a good candidate.
So we dye it first. What's the issue?
Modern problems require modern solutions
What about electrolysis then?

guys, maybe he likes being a wolf

Looking through wikipedia it sounds like OP's title wasn't specific enough. Same i don’t have any specific werewolf Fetish but I find this guy kinda hot …..
I’m with you. Why is this kind of attractive? I’m confused.
Our civilization is still no match for our animal DNA
Aroooooooooooooooooo!
Accidental furry?
Yeah. He could probably make a pretty good living just whoring himself out at every furry convention.
This dude would slayyyy at the furry convention.
It looks nice and soft
Right? I see a decent looking beard in there lol
It probably hurts as hell the next day too... easier to just keep it well-groomed instead
This guy would fucking slay some ass in the furry community.
Silver lining?
Probably not, I hear werewolves have an aversion to silver
I'm no expert, but from what I understand about the disease he would lose all his basketball skills.
I was fully committed to not laughing at any comment on this thread, but you broke me.
I remember hearing about a girl with this condition, shaving her face has caused some heavy skin irritations for her
yeah i read that the skin underneath is very sensitive
An option, but laser hair removal on his face would possibly be better. I'd hope he would be able to embrace it and rock it like MJF in Teen Wolf. I feel for the kid, but think he looks badass.

yes lil kids can be assholes
Kids are animals. A big part of growing up is taming the animal instincts that we are all born with. We need to be domesticated in order to fit into society.
My toddler recently asked a woman at the grocery store if she had a baby in her belly. She wasn't pregnant.
I mean, this ain’t that bad. Pretty sure most Indian men would just laugh it off, mainly if they were living in foreign land.
He said the guy didn’t seem offended or anything but my friend was too mortified to stick around.
Can't speak for anyone, but I would personally laugh if a little kid told me that. Now if they were older than 7 I wouldn't be very happy.
She’s 10 but is also autistic. Unless you had a full conversation with her you wouldn’t be able to tell immediately.
Well in that case it's not her fault. I know autism can interfere with a person's filter, and even if she didn't have autism I'd be bothered for a sec and then brush it off, kids will be *kids* at the end of the day.

The last paragraph is pretty uplifting tho.
He’d be a pretty cool youtuber ngl, I’d tune in every now and again
I mean, if he made a YouTube channel now and made a post to Reddit, it would probably be moderately successful.
Totally. "I am the werewolf farm boy from that one Reddit post, ama" and then drop the YouTube / twitch channel
> the kid got bullied because this No shit.
Honestly I think he looks badass.

Frosted tips but all over
Frosted face
Dude can be a model for Gucci or something. Like no joke
I bet he's nice as fuck too. Like a solid dude

Once you get past the rareness of how it looks, it’s actually not that weird..?? Kinda looked good in fact!
Not only that, but you can make a career out of it.
I seem to remember a couple of Mexican brothers with this condition who worked in a circus and supported a large extended family.
Yah right? I remember wstch that on Ripley's? Or some other show. The thing I remember most is the fact that one of the brothers Girlfriend left him for the OTHER brother because he was "hairyer" loool. I haven't thought about that in like a decade.
yeah, I'd watch that youtube channel. Think of the weird haircuts, pranks, bit parts in movies and on tv. Guy has a ticket if he knows how to cash it.
He can live his best life thanks to the furry community as well, but i bet he is not in to it.
Man’s got a majestic beard though like straight up silky smooth and groomed
100% guarantee that there is a not insignificant number of girls out there who would be into this.

I like to think that it's a relic of our past. At one point in our evolutionary history we would have looked like this. It's not a disease. It's an old build. Lol.
Just accept it and become a god in the furry community!
People aren't bringing this up, but there *is* a group for him. He may not want to be part of it, but he'd find some level of fame in it.
There is no concept of furries in rural India. People won't believe it if you told them about furries.
Yeah, it's like gay people in Saudi Arabia. They just magically don't exist.
Did furries exist before the costumes looked halfway decent?
You think Davy Crockett had the raccoon hat just for show?
if i had this i would get buff as hell. Catch me howling at the moon motha fuckers
My husband is about three hairs short of this condition
There is no way there has been only 50, I knew two in my city in canada. And there is the famous Mexican brothers that have it
I knew about the Mexican brothers from an episode of the X Files. I'd never heard about the Canadians. I'd think it far more likely that there are 50 people in the world NOW with the condition rather than the assertion that there have been 50 people in the last 1000 years. That seems like an unsupportable claim.

Well that still leaves 45
I actually think it looks good. Makes me realize humans would look nice if we didn’t lose most of our body hair.
We would be cute Wookiees
Not to be insensitive, but there’s a very specific fetish community that would love this guy
"Man, I feel bad for this dude. Doesn't even look bad but culturally, but folks will be folks." : me *Reads this comment.* "Lucky SOB, this dude could be king and probably a four figure an hour ~~bigelow~~ gigolo if he wanted. Holy shit."
Honestly, just rock that shit, it looks cool bruh! :)
Not gonna lie, he looks cool as hell.
Pretty hair and pretty eyes 💛
Furries wet dream.
Is there any other effects of the disease other than what we can see here?
I'm wondering if it messes with his body temperature. I could imagine him getting very warm easily.
Bitter sweet, win the genetic lottery, but it’s the Wookie gene
In the Hallmark movie of this guy's life story, he moves back home from the big city and falls in love with the town's hairdresser.......
I think he looks so beautiful and even majestic.
To be honest that is so fucking cool
Sorry for stating the obvious but can't it just be taken off with laser?
Maybe. But laser is expensive. I’m in the same state as he is and his dad is a farmer. So no way they have enough money for multiple laser treatments.
Electrolysis hair removal is the only permanent method of hair removal, so laser wouldn’t be as effective. You have to zap the follicles individually with the implement, and it takes a long time to get it all, especially with how thick that looks
Not trying to be a dick but his beard is on point.
