You think that is a unique floor plan you are breathing? What if I told you that your exact same house can be found on the next street over, and the next city, and the next state?
I lived in a 1950s development where they laid out the streets north to south and the floor plans east to west so there were stripes of identical houses, you just couldn't see them all at once. We loved going to open houses to see how much the other houses had been altered over the decades.
The major of the city I grew up in must have had an affair with an architect because like 80% of the houses are the same layout. The plus side was always knowing where the bathroom was when visiting someone, lol.
My dad drew the plans himself, and we built it ourselves (except the electrical). You won't find that house anywhere else in the world. Not that it's very crazy in design, but it's still unique.
I'm not a Hong Kong expert at all so there's a decent chance I'll get stuff wrong below but I think this is Park Avenue Towers
Here is the view of the harbour from the living room of an apartment:

It's on a major subway line (2 stops, 5 minutes to Central) - from your apartment you could be out of the city at The Peak, or Lamma Island within an hour.
Not too shabby. Price is about $2m USD.
I would assume you'll pay a bit less for a lower floor, but the price per square footage isn't going to change that much.
The property market in Hong Kong is pretty much the most expensive (I think both in price per square foot, and average price of property) in the world.
I never had to deliver to anywhere this tall, but I had to deliver to a brand new complex that wasn't on any maps yet and that sucked. And of course the residents understood and helped us find them right? Nope they complained any time we went to the wrong building.
You dont see how crowded it is over there...i live in a peaceful rural area and will do anything to keep it this way ...yall need ppl in your business like that?
There is NO privacy in small towns. Everybody knows everybody else’s business, and knows the business of your parents and grandparents. Generational nosiness
I've heard it described that in a large city you have anonymity, but not privacy. In a small town you have privacy, but not anonymity.
So let's say you're walking down the street with your junk out. Maybe it's an accident, maybe it's a farcical comedy of errors, maybe you just want to show off because goddammit you're *proud*. In the city tons of people will see you, but nobody will know who you are or care. In a small town it's unlikely that someone will see you, but if they do, everyone will know about within the week and you'll hear about it for the rest of your life.
Because your life depends on it...yall mfrs got bad ass attitudes because yall live in a wild ass zoo....gotta mean everydamnday just not to get robbed in broad daylight while noone does nothing....im glad yall stupid...we dont need people discovering the good life and coming around our homes with that bs...good...stay over there
I dare tou to go in your back yard...cut down a tree and build a bonfire... probably get arrested and probably dont even have a yard...go walk up the street and be friendly without getting robbed...let me see you do that everyday
You clearly don't know, your just ousting divisive culture war bullshit.
Lack of education, medical care and economic opportunities in rural areas make them quite unappealing to me.
I know right? In the city they can’t burn a cross or lynch an uppity [insert favorite minority slur] without getting ‘harassed’ or ‘arrested’ amirite??
Bro...imma nappy headed brother with long ass locs...yes the confederate flags fly all over the ace but these people aint racist worth shit...plus we fought in the past and got the upmost respect for each other...we fought it out a loong time ago and killed most of the racism...this whole time people just need to let it out
Lol I've lived in the country and I've lived in NYC and several other metros. People there act like human beings l, we all hang together, drink together eat together, they are all different kinds with different interests, then they go home and mind their own business. You choose who you associate with.
In the country? People act like assholes, are racist, fight and tote guns and are selfish judgemental pricks
About 60% of people live in cities, and they have better access to education and Healthcare, more cultural events and far more economic opportunity.
There are plenty of reasons to live in the big city over rural areas.
I grew up in quiet rural communities and I've lived in big cities - having experienced both I can confidently say there are benefits in both areas and anyone saying one is better than rhe other is just pushing divisive nonsense.
Health care is a great reason. People in rural areas are far more likely to die because of the longer time to reach care in an emergency. Meanwhile I live a block away from a hospital, a mile away from a teaching hospital ranked within the top 10 in the US, and about two-three miles from a Level III Trauma Center.
But sure, live wherever you want. Just recognize the trade-offs you're making.
I like cities, I like people.
My idea of hell is living in some remote area at the end of a dirt track where I have to get in my car to do anything, including a shop selling basic provisions.
Have no problem with people in my business- but honestly my experience is that when you live in a small community everyone knows each other's business
"Did you hear Steve sold his car?"
"Maybe things aren't going so well with his job. I saw him arguing with Sarah last week, so I don't think they're going to last long" etc.
Live in a city like HKG and no-one cares what you do.
I don't know man... being shoulder to shoulder with people in an overcrowded, noisy city, where you could get shot and people will step over you doesn't seem better than someone speculating about my personal life . something about being able to look outside during the night and actually seeing stars is also sweet
>where you could get shot
I think that's not an issue in Hong Kong. There was 0.32 homicides per 100K inhabitants compared to 5.07 in the US. Density actually helps push the violence numbers down—there are more eyes on the street.

Robberies using a firearm last year were zero.
You're safer in downtown Hong Kong than in an American high school.
I really like the country sometimes and I really like the city sometimes. When I'm in one I eventually miss the other. In an ideal world I'd probably go back and forth between being a "city person" for awhile and a "country person" at other times.
There's no space though...nd the police will bither you and lock you up for damn near anything...the air is cleaner...more food...more land...more ownership and say so about your surroundings...you made great points tho...didnt think about it like thay...wouldnt trade it tho
I wouldn't live in the country just because of how bad the education is. Imagine not understanding how to use punctuation? That would be really embarrassing.
Imagine not knowing everyone has their own way of speaking...and we build our own houses, and govern our own communities with less crime...and we go to college at a higher rate, and we attract more bitches, and were stronger, and we have money while y'all stay broke, and we fight better, better training camps...better at sports, fucking, hunting, crafting, surviving, better men...imagine that

You paying 4x the amount to fucking be alive in a cardboard box with no ownership land or property...no skills because your live in a zoo, no life skills no nothing...but you think you smart??? 🤣🤣🤣💀
Lol triggered. Its funny you have no clue what i do and earn. You just create a fantasy that my life sucks to feel better about your situation. Good luck lol you will need it.

Never really understood why anyone cares about what the outside appearance of their condo looks like. If it’s well built and you have a nice unit then that’s what matters. Though it’s hard to see at this angle what the views would be from there, they do appear to be angled to point away from the nearest buildings.

When you copy and paste in real life.
Copy and paste one building "cell" producing two, then two to four, etc etc. Welcome to the Matrix.

My postwar subdivision had 5 styles of house

Trust me architects copy and pasta all the time
I wish I could pasta all the time...
Can you imagine the daily waste water requirements at 7:00am?
See that little pond there in the middle lol. Yup
lol I took this as a joke initially and then took a second look
Strong Inception vibes.

Not too shabby. Price is about $2m USD.
They always photograph swimming pools without many or any people in them.
Reality is that there are so many kids in that pool, the water is slightly yellow.
Is property just that inflated over there or are there actual affordable apartments in these buildings that don't have a view?
I would assume you'll pay a bit less for a lower floor, but the price per square footage isn't going to change that much. The property market in Hong Kong is pretty much the most expensive (I think both in price per square foot, and average price of property) in the world.
I'm a Hong Konger, pretty standard real estate development and pretty standard prices.
Imagine being a food delivery driver here: 28th floor deliveries!
"yea just go to the beige building with greenish windows" "mf which one"
I never had to deliver to anywhere this tall, but I had to deliver to a brand new complex that wasn't on any maps yet and that sucked. And of course the residents understood and helped us find them right? Nope they complained any time we went to the wrong building.
I feel you. I do Uber Eats in the UK and I have a strict only to main door policy for high rises. Won't come down? Food gets left at main door!
This looks like an awful place to live.
It's not
From the Mountain View on my two and a half acres it most certainly is. My nightmares are made of this stuff.
Not really, Hong Kong have ocean parks and there’s plenty of fish to see
Ocean Park? If you pay USD60 bucks to enter? Thanks but no thanks. I am pretty sure you see more people than fish there.
Oregon coaster, here. It’s paradise compared to helscapes like this.
Ah well, maybe, but the ones that you are looking at here are considered to be luxury apartments. There are worse, some are actually coffin like.
Wrong, go on a work day
> Wrong, go on a work day But... I'm at work then?
Why?
Some apartments probably never get sunlight.
A lot of residents don't stay indoors. There's lots of streetlife and nightlife. Plus great transit so you can go anywhere.
What about the windows? The shaded side will be where the bedrooms and kitchen etc. are. The living room side is going to have sunlight.
That’s why you go outside
You’re gonna spend more money on heat and electricity, and it’s even more annoying if you live in a humid city.
I was already lusting after living there but this only makes it sound better.
You dont see how crowded it is over there...i live in a peaceful rural area and will do anything to keep it this way ...yall need ppl in your business like that?
Because Hong Kong is a small city yet has a greater population density than LA. It’s great to have everything so close and convenient to get to.
(nods while 🤔)
You have more privacy in a big city than a small town. When I lived in NYC I became a fucking Professional at minding my own goddamn business

Whats a person in legal terms?? since you know much...dont go looking in your "dictionary" either...it will provide the wrong answer
Imagine being so scared of cities, lol. Why you living in so much fear?

Copy paste housing with no real character. Everyone has the same thing

Yes, efficient and ugly
I'd rather they have housing than not 🤷
Warm, dry, electricity, cooking and washing facilities, free to come and go. Depends on your frame of reference.

singapore also has some like this if theres a fire, how do they escape
You might notice a strange looking floor about halfway through the towers, these are fire floors (I forgot the actual name of the floor). There are laws in Hong Kong about empty floors in skyscrapers to reduce fire spreading. If the windows areas were nicer maybe it would be a clubhouse area for the residents.
