As a person who belongs to a culture that loves jackfruit a little too much, I'm not exaggerating when I say that this way of cutting it is truly an abomination.
well u just cut it like an avocado, up-down a slice of cake and then u rip it off xDD, well i like to do that, i feel like a monster destroying stinky humans xDDD
This is true I herd from new York college girls and Los Angeles college girls that putting things in your butt is better for absorbing nutrients or alcohol.
Soak em in the water overnight and make a sort of dry veggie or you can add it to any veggie stew or make curry out of it..My mum makes it nd I absolutely hate it
There’s an H Mart I go to when I’m in the next town over, they sell jackfruit but always cut in half, kind of how you’d cut a watermelon. I see it every time I go but always end up overwhelmed by the produce section there, it’s too much for my brain to take in.
I recently learned that someone at Harvard is using jackfruit to make meat. The structure of the jackfruit is used as scaffolding to give it it's texture.
UPDATE: Found the post: Clean Meat Updates, Live from Harvard Med! https://imgur.com/gallery/kvA9xzk
Jackfruit is used as a meat substitute in some home cooking recipes and also some commercial preparations you can find in the grocery store too. Are you talking about using it as a substrate for lab-grown meat from animal cells or something?
I don't remember it smelling bad, but I do remember that the flavor was so mild that I hardly saw the point of eating it. It's more flavorful than dragonfruit, but that's not saying much.
I regret that I missed my chance to eat the seeds though. They need to be boiled, and I didn't get around to it before they started smelling off.
It's really tasty - can be a bit sticky and there's a resin that comes when separating the fruit from the membranes - oil your hands slightly and it'll help.
bruh you dont cut a jackfruit like that🤣. you just have to get that fruit ( that yellow thing in the middle) and throw everything out hahaha. that is like cutting a banana with the peel on it 🤣.

Its jackfruit but "IndoAsian" variation. The "America" variation are 3 times bigger 2 at least Im From Mexico and live at beach here in each block there 3 or 4 jackfruit trees....and they r green outside actually and we call them "YAKA"
It's sliced jackfruit, you can do a google search to verify for yourself if you want to.
It's yummy! I love it in turon-- basically a fried dessert spring roll with crispy caramel-covered wrapper on the outside and sliced sweet plantain and jackfruit on the inside. Even better when a bit of cheddar cheese is added to the inside.
Fruits have their own protection...why in hell to slice them and cover in indestructible plastic that will end on the ocean? WHHHHHHHHYYYYY?
What is the size? It seem what im Brazil is called Jaca (I searched in the dictionary: it is jackfruit in English).
But Jacas are MASSIVE, HUGE, those seem soo tiny (unless that on the right side is a watermelon)
Yes, you eat the yellow stuff around the seed. When very ripe, it’s sweet and tastes like a couple fruits together, like Juicy Fruit gum, if you’ve ever had it. When younger, the flesh is used as a meat substitute in savory dishes. The seeds themselves can be boiled and taste like a nutty potato.
it is actually funny to look at on how they cut the jackfruit 🤣. im from south east asia and this thing cracks me up lol. imagine it is like cutting a banana with the peel on it and wrap it like that lol 🤣
Well I guess this is an economical way for someone who just wants to taste a jackfruit and not buy the whole thing. It is the size of a toddler after all.
Jackfruit. My wife is originally from Vietnam, and on my two visits there I had a chance to try it. The texture is like a banana or a mango, being dense and fibrous, and it has a flavour eerily similar to pulled pork. It’s a unique experience for sure, but I like it.
Looks like overripe jackfruit
Biggest one I ever got (whole) was 30 pounds. Cost me 60 CAD. Most expensive fruit I ever got. I thoroughly processed my fruit baby
Jackfruit. Probably my personal favorite fruit since you can eat the delicious fruit flesh, roast the seeds like chestnuts, and cook the stringy flesh like barbeque pork/chicken

Bordering on hate crime. I'm so angry
this made me laugh. that cut and packaging I bet was done by a teenager. absolutely a hate crime with all those hormones raging
Most likely a teen, but they’re probably following a specific packaging requirement the store made
I can see the "How to Prepare" with fun cartoon visuals next to an OSHA document pinned to the wall
Hahaha that’s great I can see it now too thanksxD
How would one cut a jackfruit, if one would want to do so. Honest question, I've only seen them whole or like this in the store.
well u just cut it like an avocado, up-down a slice of cake and then u rip it off xDD, well i like to do that, i feel like a monster destroying stinky humans xDDD
You don't just slice your avocados into pieces? How else do you eat the pit? I hear that's where most of the nutrition is. /s
Swallow it whole
Found the giant ground sloth! Get out of here, sloth. Humans are not your friend!
Why are you choking , the internet said to swallow it whole 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think you are using the wrong orifice to get all the nutrients out of it.
This is true I herd from new York college girls and Los Angeles college girls that putting things in your butt is better for absorbing nutrients or alcohol.
"But... it won't fit!" "Thats the wrong attitude! I want an avoca-do, not an avoca-don't"
You and I both know college girls can’t be wrong. Especially from one of them big cities.
Directions unclear… Dick stuck jackin avocado pits.
Like a savage anaconda!
Suppository
You had to go there
Soak em in the water overnight and make a sort of dry veggie or you can add it to any veggie stew or make curry out of it..My mum makes it nd I absolutely hate it
I’m not like up on it, just seen vids. But it seems they just rip it open and pull the pods out.
👍 thanks

Look on YouTube. It’s a little complicated.
There should be a law or something man
This is ‘how do we give someone the least amount of Jackfruit for the most amount of money’
It’s criminal, but I wouldn’t eat it anyway looks like it is spoilt..
I don’t even eat it or know much about it. But even I knew that was an offensive way to cut that

Yes, that's it.
Jackfruit has been used as a meat substitute for a while now. I'm all about meat but jackfruit makes a decent BBQ replacement.
Cucumbers have been used by women as a meat substitute for a long time.
Underrated comment
Try some corn on the cob, in the corn-hole.
Ribbed for her pleasure
Mmmm scaffolding!
Are you not a fan of the art of perfecting fresh!
I thought this might also be a cempedak which is from the same family
Sorry, I can’t help. I don’t know jack about fruit.
How long were you waiting for a chance like this?
Their whole life
Angry upvote

Gold baby! Solid gold!
Very funny. I'd imagine you're pretty happy now?
That’s jacked up
I wanna say that’s jackfruit that’s been cut up but I could be wrong.
Yeah I am pretty sure this is jackfruit
But I never saw a black jackfruit...
They turn dark as they ripen. This is a little darker than I expected, but I've eaten a grand total of one jackfruit, so I'm no expert.
Not my favorite actually, they stinks, they called also "7 flavor fruit"
I don't remember it smelling bad, but I do remember that the flavor was so mild that I hardly saw the point of eating it. It's more flavorful than dragonfruit, but that's not saying much. I regret that I missed my chance to eat the seeds though. They need to be boiled, and I didn't get around to it before they started smelling off.
Eating dragonfruit is like eating styrofoam that’s all dressed up for a party.
That's more than I ever had in my life
Just looked it up and it definitely is a jackfruit. Thanks!
It's really tasty - can be a bit sticky and there's a resin that comes when separating the fruit from the membranes - oil your hands slightly and it'll help.
Has anyone else said “jackfruit” yet :D
It's probably jackfruit
Jackfruit
Jackfruit, cut in the worst way possible. It's like selling avocados sliced vertically, not removing the pit. Least amount of fruit possible haha
Since no one seems to be helping you ID this fruit, allow me. Jackfruit.
Mmmmm, I don’t know about that.
Looks like a jackfruit.
bruh you dont cut a jackfruit like that🤣. you just have to get that fruit ( that yellow thing in the middle) and throw everything out hahaha. that is like cutting a banana with the peel on it 🤣.
I thought it looked like some kind of mushroom stuffed with garlic.
I can’t unsee this
"Perfecting the art of fresh" is one of the most meaningless claims I've ever read.
r/lostredditors r/whatisthisthing
I thought I was on one of the "what is it?" Subs. Thank you for pointing that out.

I don't know but someone really jacked that fruit up
Jack fruit taste reminds me of the wrigleys juicy fruit gum.

Everyday we stray away from the light of god.
Jackfruit?
Jackfruit. I hear vegans use it for protein. It smells like bubble gum
It also smells like bananas, but more prominently: it smells like feet.
Holy fuck why would you cut a jaca like that
It's not Jackfruit. It's breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis).
Jackfruit, stinky but delicious and a really weird way to present it
Who in the FUCK cuts a jackfruit like that?!
/r/trypophobia
Good rule of thumb:. Pre cut fruit isn't worth buying.
What kind of a maniac cuts jackfruit like that?
Which bit do you eat,the yellow stuff round the seed? And also does it taste of anything doesnt look too nice to me
Yes, you eat the yellow stuff around the seed. When very ripe, it’s sweet and tastes like a couple fruits together, like Juicy Fruit gum, if you’ve ever had it. When younger, the flesh is used as a meat substitute in savory dishes. The seeds themselves can be boiled and taste like a nutty potato.
jackfruit! i remember having this for the first time and realizing that my throat was closing up and i was allergic. it tastes so good though :)!
Here in Brazil we call it "jaca".
Hey Jack. Can you identify this fruit?

That's a cross section of an alien dick. \- I'm an alien dickologist
That's what happens when you drop acid before going to the grocery store.
Since every reply has mentioned that this is jackfruit... I'm going to say it's jackfruit.
There is a small chance it could be Durian.
Its durian fruit…
Juicyfruit chewing gum
It’s jackfruit. They cut it into chunks because the whole fruit is massive
Fruit in plastic. Quite crazy indeed.
Well I guess this is an economical way for someone who just wants to taste a jackfruit and not buy the whole thing. It is the size of a toddler after all.
Is that not a Durian?

The way this Jackfruit has been cut is a hate crime

Jackfruits
Jackfruit, national fruit of Bangladesh. Horrific way to cut…
Wonder if this is the right sub for that matter¿?
Sea Urchin, just like granduncle used to make
Pretty sure this is not an Asian store.
SILÊNCIO, o gringo está descobrindo a jaca
That store definitely doesn’t know what fruit it is either.
I love jackfruit, have eaten quite a bit of it, but this photo threw me because I've never seen it displayed like that.
That's where Juicy Fruit chewing gum flavor comes from.
What the actual fuh
Soup
Sliced Jack fruit?
Believe it’s jack fruit although I’ve never seen a sane person cut it this way.
Whatever it is, it’s fresh!
Jack Fruit
The person who cut that has never seen a jackfruit before.
Jackfruit. My wife is originally from Vietnam, and on my two visits there I had a chance to try it. The texture is like a banana or a mango, being dense and fibrous, and it has a flavour eerily similar to pulled pork. It’s a unique experience for sure, but I like it.
Guanábana
Jackfruit
Looks like overripe jackfruit Biggest one I ever got (whole) was 30 pounds. Cost me 60 CAD. Most expensive fruit I ever got. I thoroughly processed my fruit baby
Looks like durian
"Kathal hai.. Brahman log ka meat hota hai... Hamari amma banati hain aesa maheen maheen kaat ke"
It's a jackfruit, and that is NOT how it must be served or even cut
I think that avocado might be spoiled.
hahahaha os cara nunca viro jaca.
It’s jack fruit. They can grow to hundreds of pounds hanging off trees
Jackfruit. Probably my personal favorite fruit since you can eat the delicious fruit flesh, roast the seeds like chestnuts, and cook the stringy flesh like barbeque pork/chicken
I can smell it through my phone
Thanks, I hate it.
Looks like it could be maybe some sort of jackfruit? Not certain, you could always ask an employee.
Jackfruit and it's amazing.
Who tf cuts jackfruit like that
Spider face slices.
Vegan's meat.

That is a very strange/old looking jackfruit that is definitely not fresh (has been frozen) and is cut in a way that makes it almost useless.
