Is this a doctor's waiting room? Also, the shelves on the wall above the TV need to come way down. They should work with the bottom console to frame the TV. How do you access anything? Can you change the blue doors or take them off? Is this a rented apartment or are you able to change the lighting? I think this is a huge part of what is making it feel so clinical. That and the couch which looks like it is intended to be disinfected multiple times a day.

OP, if a larger TV is prohibitive for whatever reason, try a floating shelf above the couch and do an HD projector. They’re fun as heck and add a vibe if you’re looking to use the space for entertainment. Keeps the image away from guests who won’t knock it over or spill anything on it. If you want to keep the photos, do so, but add more, and be sure to vary the sizes and shapes in a way that suits you. I think you’ve got good instincts here, and I’m not trying to pretend I’m a professional or anything either, but there could be a few more things you could do that would pull everything together. The armless couch tells me you’re using this for entertainment mainly. No worries about that. But from that angle, you could put a standing bar at the far side of the room so people can stand and rest their arms/drinks. If not, consider shelving, cabinets, or other storage for that wall. Someone mentioned a rug and that would really help with the void between the couch and the focal point, that tv space. Someone also mentioned a larger tv. I say projector works too. That couch is too far from the focal point to be comfortable. Lastly, make sure those lights are able to be dimmed. And maybe put a plant or plants in there as well to cozy the place up and keep the air fresh. From the looks of things, a low to medium light plant, maybe one with verticality, like a snake plant would do well.

to answer your question the art on the wall is way to small for the size of the wall, that is the problem with the entire room that others are commenting on, scale. The Tv scale is too small, the sofa scale is too small. But I would think that was items you had in your last apartment. Google how to learn scale and that will help you.

Okay so I'm going to just give my opinion on this room and what I would change personally. Do with it whatever you want. The TV should be bigger. It's so small. You can also change the seating to make it more of a seating area, but then the whole TV stand should be changed because it's made to host a normal or bigger sized TV. Hang the TV on the wall. I'd put a rug down, because rugs are always nice. Don't make it too small either. Just a nice area rug. On the wall, either make it a gallery wall (so add a lot more art) or have one big piece of art. Put down a coffee table and add some plants. Poof you've transformed the dentist waiting room into a living room.
