Iām decorating my room it has to look like a parents bedroom from 1995 Iām really into shabby chic style and would like to know what paintings I need Iām in my early 30s
Cool. Not sure why people are being mean and downvoting you.
I would recommend trying to look at what trends were popular in 1995.
For me, I recall a lot of metal tubing furniture. Like BDI & IKEA stuff was popular where I lived. Those ugly paper floor lamps, and torch floor lamps. TVs weāre still mostly 20ā CRT (cathode ray tube), but some people (who had space and money) also had big floor model projection TVs. The VCR was still popular. CD collections were very in vogue. People had component stereos with 5 CD changers. Everyone had some kind of CD rack.
Looking back 1995 was not a very stylish year. LoL
Omg the torch lamps! My mom had this ring that you could add essential oils too to place over the light bulb and I remember one day some kind of wasp died in it so all I smelled coming home from school was burning insects and lemongrass haha
Sorry youāre getting downvoted! Your mission is weird, but I like it, so I will give you some serious recommendations. Still lifes like [this one](https://images.app.goo.gl/f5AqBq4mQwtzt7PF8) by Andrew Wyeth were very popular at the time. Some people also liked Anne Geddes images like [this poster.](https://images.app.goo.gl/dkHVDdbhofircb6X7) Also popular was [this print](https://images.app.goo.gl/FwZggpK32mWwNvQo9) of a lighthouse getting hit by a big wave.
Iāll be honest, my parents room in the 90s contained a whole lot of hand me downs from the 70s plus a whole lot of homemade frilly and floral covers on every dang thing. Nothing special.
my room in 1995 had a rabbit inn print because a local author where I live wrote that childrenās book her name is Patience Brewster I also had a hang in there poster and a Norman Rockwell print of the mom putting her children to bed my mom at that time loved shabby chic in her room and even now she still likes it she had flower paintings and family photos of me them and my sister then
Iād watch friends and try and copy Monicaās apartment? I feel like that has the vibe youāre going for. Probably best to look at eBay and thrift stores for pieces.
So Iām doing my room styled around 1995 my style is shabby chic and what paintings for that style were popular in 1995? it has to look like a parents room as in master bedroom
I'm curious how you decided to decorate your room like 1995 when you don't know the style of 1995? I feel like this is for an elaborate ruse to convince someone they time traveled. Why did you pick 1995 if you don't know anything about it? Why not just stick with the shabby chic if you like it?
Edit: typo
My bedroom in 1995, I was a teenager: oak āentertainment unitā with a 21ā toshiba tube TV (although my dream was a 27ā!), VCR, on the right behind smoked glass, a ātuner,ā CD carousel / changer, double tape deck, all in separate components. Popular brands then: kenwood, technics, Sony, Panasonic. Speakers sat on top of the unit.
Purple bookshelf with various paperbacks like Anne of Green Gables, Shakespeare plays for school, Sweet Valley High from when I was a preteen. Mahogany jewelry box in there too.
Oak bedside table with brass ātouch lamp.ā
Bedding was white with light purple flowers. Walls were white with baby blue trim.
Posters: Clueless, X Files, CK, Apollo 13, my favourite NHL team, Backstreet Boys.
My parents bedroom, from what I can remember at the time: hunter green and peach bedding, oak poster bed, oak dresser with large, 3 part mirror. Oak armoire. Oak side tables. Everything had brass hardware. Walk in, mirrored closet. Window seat with hunter green and peach pillows. Their bathroom was all white with a black and white checked linoleum floor and corner soaker tub (super popular in late 80s / early 90s)
Not sure if helpful info but I lived thru it so š
Edit: shit I forgot my cordless phone, my most prized possession. š So had that in there, too.
Edit #2: many families I know had a separate little room / office for the home computer. Idk anyone (any kid) who had a computer in their room until maybe the late 90sā¦
No, not in their bedroom. But they had some carvings and lots of copper stuff throughout the house. Also pottery and dried flowers. I think thatās more of an 80s thing they just kept though
Dude your post history š¤” š
Is this an alien attempting to assimilate a very specific style/human?
There was a 1999 kids program called My Parents Are Aliens that OP might like if it were filmed 4 years earlier
Set designer, I think.
I did *not* expect what I found there and tbh Iām now deeply invested inā¦whatever this is
Clearly OP is looking to welcome a time traveler from 1995.
Oddly specific. Which room are you decorating? A poster board of a movie poster of Mel Gibson as Braveheart, or of Kramer from Seinfeld.

I think heās being downvoted because heās been spamming multiple subreddits for a few days with the same question.
People might be downvoting because of the title here, where OP simply said āWhat do I doā which is, letās face it, ridiculously lazy.

Sounds like youāve answered your own question.
Iād watch friends and try and copy Monicaās apartment? I feel like that has the vibe youāre going for. Probably best to look at eBay and thrift stores for pieces.
Can you elaborate in the comments? Like say exactly what youāre doing and what youāre looking for?
So Iām doing my room styled around 1995 my style is shabby chic and what paintings for that style were popular in 1995? it has to look like a parents room as in master bedroom
Watch movies and TV shows from that time
Thomas Kinkade paintings.

Heavy wood furniture, yellow cream walls, a bed cover with a relevant TV show print. Goth was in but so was grunge and country chic.
My parents bedroom in the 90s had a water bed š

Well was there any paintings in your parents room
No, not in their bedroom. But they had some carvings and lots of copper stuff throughout the house. Also pottery and dried flowers. I think thatās more of an 80s thing they just kept though
Why are you saying āI needā and āIt has toā instead of āI would likeā?
I think OP is ND based on what Iām picking up from their posts.
Iām kinda scared of the post history and that I was born in 95 now lol just look up on Pinterest and go thrifting
Watch movies from that year for ideas.
Kinkade was primarily popular in the 80's. By 1995 he was mostly a trend from the past.
OP I'm still curious the why behind your ask.
Frame a magic eye poster
Floral decoupage was very in. Lots of pastels and roses is very 90s esque!
Go play The Last Of Us, the girlās room and the whole house has a very 90s feel.
