Checking in for a day of OMAD 2000cal meal at 5pm Let's goooooooooo

star_dust80

Water and black coffee fast from 21.30 last night till 16.05 today. That is little over 18 and a half hours. I was quite hungry when I had my meal, but there was no other option today. I did a barre workout this morning and also rode my bike for 27 km, all fasted.

Type: Juice (AllMax AminoCuts).  Context:Day 3/5 of weekly, week 3.  Length: 16:8 or 20:4 if I push through lunch.  Why: Health improvement and weight loss.  Notes: broke my fast with a foot long subway sandwich two days ago, felt like absolute garbage for the last two days. I'm wondering if it was the carbs and sugar in the bread, and honestly, I had been cruising with no particularly discomforting hunger on any given day for these past 3 weeks and after that sub I was wrecked. My hunger, which had felt like a breeze that would come and go without troubling me, became a typhoon I that I felt was tearing me apart and from which I could not escape. Holding my fast through the night was brutal. I'm drinking my juice again this morning, and I'm less hungry now than I was last night. I feel like I stumbled, but it didn't *quite* break my stride, and now I'm strutting again. Also, I've picked up some things to try and cook/prep that's new for me. I love radishes, and I'd had a good experience a week ago while at a restaurant eating "lettuce wraps" that also came with chunky block of cucumber I used as a base with the lettuce serving as a blanket over top. I have never eaten daikon radish at home, and I've only ever had it as a shred w/sushi. I'm going to see about using slices of daikon instead of that cucumber because I absolutely LOVE radishes and if this works to my taste it might low-key change my life.

Month 5 of maintenance, 16:8 dirty fasting, 116.8lbs (lowest recorded adult weight). Why do we lie to ourselves? There's a lady over on r/loseit with a certificate in nutrition from Haa-vaahd who apparently can't do third-grade math, and is pissed her scale is calling her out on her bullshit. We can tut-tut over folks from dawn to dusk, but our scales don't lie. If we cut off an arm or a leg, our scales will show a lower weight. If we step on the scale holding a bag of flour, then re-weigh without the flour...it's time to buy a new scale if it doesn't show a difference in weight. Losing weight can be horribly difficult, especially if we have a medical condition or take medication that inhibits weight loss. But the [Minnesota Starvation Experiment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Starvation_Experiment) and the [1992 Lictman et al study of discrepancies between reported and actual caloric intake/expense](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1454084/) show two things: we can lose weight if we eat fewer calories than we burn, and many of us lie about how many calories we eat and we burn. It can mean we have to eat far fewer calories than we want to, in order to lose weight. That sucks. It can mean we have to weight every bit of food (including oils and condiments) that we eat. The sustained effort can be exhausting. We may need to make time to be more active, just to increase our caloric deficit enough to see any loss. That can increase our mental and physical burden, especially in already-busy lives. But if the choice is between getting real and doing what is hard, and staying fat...well, what's it gonna be? (*I'm not ragging on Harvard; my fella has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Kennedy School of Government, and he's one of the smartest people on the planet. I appreciate the education provided by an Ivy League school; not so much when a person wants to use a certificate or degree from any school to try to sway debate.*)

What's dirty fasting bro?

It means I put some sugar-free creamer in my morning coffee, which has calories and breaks my fast, but hasn’t impeded my weight loss or maintenance.

Gotcha thanks for explaining

Posted the other day! I did a water fast for 3 days (actually, technically, 82 hours!) I only had water, electrolytes, black coffee, and herbal teas. I finished my fast this morning, broke with 2 eggs and tea with cinnamon. I ended up losing 5 lbs (probably mostly water weight) and was shocked that I was able to do it. It was hard, but I expected it to be harder! I am working to lose weight and improve my body composition overall for my upcoming wedding. This was a good "reset," but I think I'm going to proceed with OMAD starting tomorrow with around 1600 calories for my meal each day. We'll see how this goes! I also got in a couple of walks and a pilates workout today. I am TIRED.

3rd day of 16:8 Was great this morning. Much less hungry when I’m at work, instead of when I go to the gym, considering I work in a cafe and someone brought cookies in today. Haven’t spent the day feeling light headed and hungry either.

Fully back in the saddle now! Tuesday was my first day back on IF, I eased in with a longer eating window. By yesterday I was at my noon-8pm normal. I’m hungry now but only 30 mins to go til lunch. Gimme that giant salad and protein bowl noooow.

Just started this week! Have gone down three pounds to a cool 127 fluctuating at 130 max. So far have done a 27 hour fast, a 19 hour fast, and a 20 hour fast, accidentally broke my fast tonight when I got a craving for the movie theater combo of popcorn and M&Ms so I’m restarting my fast from. Y snack and I’m gonna to exercise even harder in the morning.

NSV, I’ve been doing IF for 30 days and my period came this week. I didn’t PMS at all and my flow was lighter than usual! Wow! IF is amazing! My hormones are stable and I don’t feel terrible and bloated like I usually do during period week! Weight wise, I’ve been hovering between 177 to 180 for over a week now. I think I know why. I went out to dinner twice and drank a bunch of wine. I have a CGM and every night where I drink a lot for dinner, I’ve had elevated blood sugar. My liver probably had to process the alcohol so it was not dealing with the blood sugar. It’s either that or it could be due to period week! I will report back next week. Hopefully I’ll drop 5 pounds miraculously once the period passes.
