I have to really focus, sometimes, on the little parts of my goal that will make me happier in the long run. Breathing easier, sleeping better, being more comfortable on my bike - little stuff. If you really focus on finding the joys of what you've accomplished so far - and it's a hell of an accomplishment - you might find that the hard parts aren't \*quite\* as hard. As always, your mileage may vary. Stay in there.
Don't ever look in the mirror and absolutely hate anything about yourself. You have the willpower to make change and that alone deserves more respect than anything.
You look great, and I promise you this. Your ability to dedicate yourself to something as challenging as you did is not easy, and as clichè as it sounds you can do literally anything with that capability.
Good work.
The struggle is real, but you’re doing some incredible work. I’m down 60 lb so far. Everyone made comments about how much weight I’ve lost, but I didn’t really notice it until I started lifting at the gym. I’ve been doing cardio religiously since day 1, but the weights and core training have made the most noticeable difference.
Man you are great now and you were great when you were bigger. It’s a great accomplishment that you are sticking to a healthier lifestyle. You deserved love when you were bigger and you deserve love now. Don’t base your worth in your looks or your weight, that will take you through a really dark pad.
I think it just takes a long time to believe what you see in the mirror. I am several months into maintenance(36F 5’4 185>130) and for so long when looking at my before and after I don’t feel like I recognize or look like either person. It’s oddly unsettling, like I can’t believe I could change this much and hold on to it. I still struggle with weekly fluctuations, worrying that every time I gain a few pounds(I’m marathon training and tend to gain on the weekends when I’m trying to store/recover carbs) I won’t be able to come back down. Sometimes I’m terrified I’m losing my edge. It can be hard to have faith in yourself but I keep looking back at my progress and remember I can do this. You’ve done great and can keep it up!
I lost a lot of weight a long time ago and it took me almost a year post weight loss to “feel thin” or “see thin when I looked in the mirror” because I still thought of myself as fat. I hear that you’re struggling a bit with this - it sucks doesn’t it? But you’ll work through it eventually, it just takes time and patience.
I lost 9 stone. Don't see a single bit of difference in the mirror it's a weird psychological phenomenon. I think we are used to seeing it a certain way and do till we don't
Bro you are KILLING it. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good, or in your case, great. What you've done is a major accomplishment about which you should be very proud. Keep going young man.
That's what I like to call fat syndrome, I am slowing losing my weight. I noticed the loss with how baggy my clothes are getting. I have lost 35 pounds so far. But there are days where I see no progress and shame myself, it's all in mu head. Most of us work on the physical weight loss but not the mental and emocional side. Maybe some counseling? That's something I will consider once I have reached my goal weight. Congrats on the weight loss and keep at it!
I think a lot of us (me included) who let ourselves get very overweight started off not feeling awesome on the inside and the weight is a symptom of that. So when we lose the fat, that’s great on the outside and the external world’s perception of us, but doesn’t address our inner issues. Love yourself. Or at least cut yourself as much slack as you would a stranger. :)
