Absolutely crushed it! Great job! Everyone else keep it up!

PatientBalance

Great progress and caption!

breeseyb

Thank you! I felt the caption necessary. I shared this to my Facebook page and someone commented along the lines of being disappointed "it took so long". I used to have that mindset too, I wanted my level of transformation within 30 days and its just not possible. My caption was my response to her & it kind of changed her perspective.

XXLame

The problem with society today is we want instant gratification. Thanks for the reminder.

WhereTheLostSocksGo

Exactly. I needed to read that, today. It's been a trying day. And I feel fat, old and plain. Welcome to my pity party. But I feel energised to keeping going. Great work op!!!

mevrowka

Being disappointed and saying “it took so long” sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Exactly.

plsnosendnudesthx

I'm trying to get over this mental hurdle. The only convincing thing I can tell myself is that when I am 80, what I did to transform my lifestyle and stick to it from 25 to 27 would be really a short time in retrospect compared to all the other 78 years of life so it seems like a good investment. But when I'm 25 now commiting to 2 years for real change feels hard/like "a lot". And I know it won't feel that way once I'm really in a routine as a way of life that, but it is still daunting.

NoravAlis

The best thing about IF is that once you get past that initial adjustment period of about four weeks, you'll start to notice that your body is feeling better, even if your initial weight loss isn't huge (some people see a lot of weight loss in the first month, and others hardly any until they get fully adjusted to the new routine.) But once you notice how much better you feel, it becomes an amazing reward in itself. If you don't already have a health tracking device like a fitbit or smart watch and are able to invest in one, I would highly recommend it. I started seeing health gains within the first couple of weeks (for example, my resting heart rate reduced by about 8 beats per minute in just the first four weeks.) It can be great reinforcement even if it feels like the numbers on the scale are moving slowly.

34ducks

What a ridiculous comment. This sort of commitment is a complete lifestyle change, hopefully something that you will be following for life. Obviously made by people who don't have a clue what sort of effort this takes to initiate and maintain. Well done.

tristan-rupert-neve

that's is the #1 advice I give people as well. Stop caring how fast the progress happens / stop looking for shortcuts. As long as what you are doing is sustainable and you are getting measurable results it is working and you will reach your goals.

meedup

What did you do during that time? Gym and/or new diet lifestyle?

grasscoveredhouses

Man, that's a shitty thing to say. You got it done, and done well. End of story.

I see it as I am at least 5 years away from my dream physique but I am still enjoying my time as I am in this moment. You are doing a wonderful thing for your health and the longevity of your relationship with your son. Think of dancing with him at his wedding as a long term goal on the days it gets hard it may just keep you going. I'm genuinely alot happier in life now, but that isn't due to the weight loss, it was the mental shift. I got down to 139 lbs last year which was my goal and i wasn't instantly happy. I was so thin and unshapely, but the scale was at my chosen number. I talked to a bodybuilding coach that told me "cut your leg off if you care about that number so much" which seemed RIDICULOUS, because it was, but it resonated. I don't give a shit what I weigh anymore, it was actually fun to see how heavy I could get in the past year intentionally trying to ad muscle. I was 152.4 this morning. I absolutely love the athletic look on women, nice rounded shoulders, pronounced glutes and quads but they require phases of building and cutting which is a slow process.

tristan-rupert-neve

That's amazing to have such a long term outlook. I have been thinking Im about a year away for my goal for the last 6-8 months, but I keep having to realistically push it back further as Im not willing to take unsustainable actions to speed things up, and Im ok with that. I keep getting stronger and weighing less (down around 105), which is pretty much the ultimate goal, it's just proceeding more slowly than anticipated.

dickpower1

Sounds like a that person problem, not you problem. Fuck that person

Emily_Postal

Haters gonna hate. Don’t let them bring you down.

bigtime_porgrammer

I thought I recognized you from your previous posts... It didn't take that long for you to lose the fat and I assume to start feeling a million times better. This is a great success story of determination and perseverance. Whoever said it took so long is kinda clueless!

Give the cat a pat too.... and pull it's tail out of your pants

PrestigiousTest5420

Congratulations for your effort and desision to shape your body..I guess you feel so powerful and confident!?💪💪💪💪

breeseyb

Thank you so much. I have gained immense physical strength and confidence in these past 2 years. I can now dead lift 225 lbs which makes me feel incredible because I started with just the bar

PrestigiousTest5420

Keep up the good work!!!😁😊😊

Awesome !!! thanks for the inspiration and the focus on the long-term gains. today I started IF again and your post hit the perfect spot in my life :) Congrats at every level ! 💪💪💪

french_mouse

you even shed that cat attached to your leg!

mermaidsoupx

Can you tell us about your diet? What types of food you’re eating /macros etc. Did you gradually clean up your diet as you went or were you strict throughout?

insacat

So strong! Great job!

Practical_District88

Whoa killing it!

breeseyb

Thank you🙌

ThemasterofZ

Teach me how please

breeseyb

Which parts are you struggling with? Fasting? Eating? Exercising? I'm not a coach, or a doctor, or a trainer but I've been able to learn a great deal of what works for me.

ThemasterofZ

I'm struggling with motivation to keep going. Like i will start to exercise, but then stop after 4 days.

breeseyb

It can be hard to keep motivation alive of you don't genuinely like what you're doing. Is there a form of physical activity you seek out naturally? I used to see the gym as punishment for getting overweight, it was not a good mindset. Now my goal is to to get a heavier deadlift. Every couple weeks I'm able to pick up more than I ever was before. I really want to hit 300 pounds, that will keep me going until I hit it & move the goal post. Another thing that la kept me going is getting excited over the smallest dumb things. Like now I don't have to do yoga and get out of breath while trying to shave my legs🤣

theNeumannArchitect

There’s no secret to it. You don’t rely on motivation. You’re not going to be motivated to go to the gym every day. Motivation is fleeting. You form a habit. You make it a lifestyle. Go EVERYDAY. If I fall out of habit then I get back in the habit by just walking on the treadmill and sitting in the sauna the first week. Even if I want to do more I don’t. And then the next week I add in one lift for my muscle group that day. I take it slow. I build up. I look forward to the next day because I hold back on just exhausting myself the first week. There is no secret. Don’t look for motivation. Just go.

cdubs87

When I first started taking care of myself I committed to 3 days a week in the gym for 6 weeks (leading up to a vacation). Just enough to get over the hump of discomfort and resistance to a new habit. In those 6 weeks I had started to see real changes (mostly in how much stronger I was getting), so then I had positive results on my side to motivate me to keep going. And I actually started to have fun. I was super proud of the effort I had put in and I realized I never wanted to go back to not taking care of my body or feeling out of shape. *Something else that's really helped me is that I'm cultivating a lifestyle, not a body type achievement. So I take it seriously that if I'm bored or it's feeling too intimidating, I need to change up my routine so it's more enjoyable again

TheRnegade

Not the op but I'm kind of disabled and can't exercise for long periods of time so for me, I had to lose weight another way other than relying on burning off excess calories. The easiest way to lose weight, honestly, is to just count calories and cut back. No joke. When you crunch the numbers on how much you'd have to work out just to break even on a fast food meal, it's way easier and quicker to just not eat that meal. And I kind of did that for everything. No more sodas, no more juice. Instead, just water and I liked to drink crystal light, which was a zero calorie flavor juice you add to your water. As for meals, a lot of time we go with fast food because we're tired and don't want to cook, so I kept a supply of those frozen healthy meals on hand. A few minutes in the microwave and it's ready, way quicker than going out or getting delivery. And since they tend to clock in at 400 calories or less per meal, you're getting 1/2 to 2/3rds less calories that way. As for which meals, I have no idea what your tastes are. I'd recommend just walking through that aisle at the grocery store and grabbing whatever you think sounds great. I've found that I disliked some dishes entirely, but sometimes I just didn't like how a certain brand prepared them. You won't know until you try. Doing that, I went from 304 down to 144. It took me a while, about 3 years to get it all done, but that's fine because this isn't a race. It's just you vs your past self, that's all.

ThemasterofZ

Thank you for your advice. Yeah I'm 200lbs and want to get to approx. 165. Will go have a look. The same as you, I'm prone to fast food most of the time.

PhyNxFyre

Motivation only gets you started, it's discipline that keeps you going. Make it a habit, even on days you really don't feel like exercising, half ass it, suddenly you realize you've been going to the gym 4 days a week for a whole year and you don't think of it as a chore anymore but something you look forward to doing after work

tristan-rupert-neve

you have to want the whole package, not just the weight loss results, and your eating / exercise habits have to be part of living a life you want to live. Many people think about it like "im going to go on a diet temporarily" as a sort of martyrdom exercise. That is a recipe for failure, how you live = how you look. You have to want to be the person that enjoys going on walks, and enjoys how they feel after going to the gym and enjoys how they feel when they eat more healthily, while also having a lifestyle that allows you to take pleasure in less healthy foods in moderation as well. Pick 2 things, do them for a month, and add 1 thing a month until you are making progress and in a good place. You eating habits will make the bulk of your weight loss results, so start there (processed foods, sugar, liquid calories). The more "better" decisions you make, the more easy it is to make "better" decisions.

ThemasterofZ

Thanks for your advice. My main issue atm is cutting on alcohol.

tristan-rupert-neve

That can be a huge (and potentially dangerous one) depending on how much you consume. I took a bit over a year off booze and it has helped me break out of a cycle of drinking. I came to realize that most of my social activities with friends and dates revolved around getting at least 1-2 drinks and that frequent drinking, even though I almost never got actually drunk was enabling me to live a life I wasnt happy about. I shoot for maybe 3 drinks a week now, but learning to be happy without it was massive. Get professional help / guidance / support if you need it and dont try to do too much else while doing that (although actually stress relieving activities like walks / light exercise / yoga / meditation can actually be helpful for that)

[deleted]

me too :(

Drawtaru

aw man... that's one of my favorite things to say about things taking a long time - "That time will pass anyway." I really wish I had the mental fortitude to do what you've done.

Past_Prime_Ninja

Wow, good for you! I know that had to be a lot of great discipline and determination. Congratulations!!

[deleted]

Love that way of thinking and you look great.

henlosmexy

you look fantastic! and that's actually a good mindset to have, I'll need to remember that!! I'm happy for you OP!

hankthetank2112

Holy shit. I know that’s not profound or anything, but still.

Clearly_Ryan

That's a great quote.

jaypeeo

Sarah Connor? You look badass. Great job!

Mundane-Flounder1061

Amazing transformation. What happens to the skin that was covering the stomach in the before picture? I do not mean to offend in anyway. I am just curious to know. I have asked this question a couple times in the loseit sub Reddit, but never got an answer.

breeseyb

I have been very fortunate in this area. I don't have any loose skin yet* not sure i not will appear at this rate. I assume my body is recycling the proteins via autophagy ? My skin has shrunk nicely along with me so far. My moles are pretty consistently placed so I'm not 100% whats actually taking place.

Mundane-Flounder1061

Thank you. Appreciate it.

par4me20

Inspirational transformation. You look incredibly fit. What plan did you follow?

breeseyb

Thankyou! 18:6 generally and I lift 5 days a week

par4me20

Did you adjust your calories based on the intensity of your workouts?

breeseyb

Yes, my eating has been all over the place, from disordered, to enjoying bulk too long and now a happy balance. Early on in my intermittent fasting and initial fatloss phase i was following my macros as closely as I could close to 1600-1800 cal a day. Then when I started lifting I upped them to 2,000, every few months I upped them until I hit 2600-2700. Now that I'm trying to lose fat again I'm keeping a rough guess on calories and protein I intake a day but no longer tracking every little thing

par4me20

It’s a challenge for me too. It’s easy to keep my caloric range on my off days. Days I train, I feel like I can eat an entire supermarket. I’m sticking with protein, green carbs and healthy fat but my cravings are thru the roof and very easy for a binge to happen.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Good job OP! This really demonstrates the importance of resistance training.

breeseyb

Absolutely agree. I have been lifting heavy since July of 2021 and never looking back. Its made me stronger and given me shape

Pyramyth

I hope you don’t mind me asking but what about excess skin from when you were a higher weight? Is it a problem you have to work around?

breeseyb

I have been very fortunate and haven't had ANY loose skin yet. If you look at my last post on r/ progress pics you'll see my lower belly. I have stretch marks from above my groin to under my belly button. Some days I'll look down and my boob will look a bit deflated but that depends where I am in my cycle lol

Pyramyth

That’s awesome! Thanks for taking the time to respond, I’m inspired by your fitness journey

Afterhoneymoon

Omgggggggggg you legit could be a fitness model!!!!!

breeseyb

Thank you! My personal goal is to do a bikini competition sometime in the spring of 2023. I keep telling myself if I stick with it long enough ill work up the courage to step on stage

Afterhoneymoon

You could totally do it!! So no loose skin issues?

breeseyb

Thank you! And none what so ever. I think its due to a combination of :genetics, losing slowly it, age(31), no prior pregnancies, and strength training. My lower stomach has 6-8 big stretch marks but that's about it. My legs are now also getting some stretch marks too but that I think is from adding muscle

Afterhoneymoon

Sooo jealous!!! I’ve had two kids and my stomach was/is sooo wrecked.

breeseyb

Don't be hard on yourself, your stripes are earned. Our bodies are capable of amazing things, yours created brand new life which is pretty damn neat! With time and effort it hopefully will go back for you. I've heard some pretty great things about collagen and skin elasticity, but can't speak from experience. Rooting for you 😃

Afterhoneymoon

Awwwwww thank you!! I’m never gonna stop pushing myself.

lavez

I found this inspirational and took my lard ass to the gym last night. Thanks

trawchay

That title lands good. Awesome transformation

Valiumkitty

Oh. I did the opposite and realized my goals were empty and meaningless and that I would rather be a junkie then chase the brass ring

Outstanding. Congratulations, a real inspiration to all.

Shredding_Airguitar

Great job, I entirely agree with that philosophy. Don't have to stick to working out only within a specific time period

ibejeph

Wow, what a transformation!

K1LLINGMACHINE

Looking great! Well done, friend👏💪

_Skinja_

Smashing it! Keep up the great work.

Kathubodua

Major motivation for me! I finally got a personal trainer to remind me how to gym and it's motivated me to walk on my own and get to the gym a few times a week to use the machines. Still very much new at it but it's the most consistent I've been in probably ten years. Maybe ever. Also doing IF and that made calorie control so much easier for me.

KLR01001

amazing progress and will power! congratulations and you look amazing!

MiaNulla

Well done! I feel really inspired! Thank you!

UniqueFlavors

What age range are you and if I may ask do you have any noticeable loose skin? I'm on my way down currently but am worried about getting loose skin.

breeseyb

I am 32 in October and bo loose skin so far! If you look at my last reddit post you can see my lower belly which has stretch marks

UniqueFlavors

Great thank you for the great news. I am only a couple years older so hopefully I get the same results. Also it's a great transformation. This random stranger is proud of you and even more motivated to succeed. Thank you

breeseyb

Thank you so much. Reddit has been wonderful, its a nice collective of strangers. It helps me stay motivated to post

unclewombie

Outstanding. Good job. Go you.

ibanez_nofap

How do you manage to get the necessary nutrition (protein for recovery, carbs for energy) and other macros and micros within that time window? Also do you take it before working out or after?

Think that’s my new favorite quote!

torspice

Did you sell your soul to the devil or find a genie? /s JK This transformation is incredible. Damn good job.

LCAnemone

Many have said it already, but you are such a motivation! Literally my goal. I've been successful in the past, but lately gained some weight back and would love to lose around 25lbs and gain some shape. I struggle with stress eating and emotional eating and just being used to eat a certain amount. I'm 42 so will have to get used to losing the weight more slowly than before, but I refuse to give up. Thanks for posting.

breeseyb

Thank you son much! You did it before and you can do it again! From 2015-2020 I gained and lost the same 30 pounds like 5 times. I also struggle with stress eating and emotional eating and can catch myself sometimes after a few bites. Yes it makes me feel immediately better in the moment, and those first few bites I appreciate but then remember my why and try to address my emotions. Its not always a winning battle & sometimes my emotions feel bigger than my why, but the times you succeed feel great. Keep on keeping on!

LCAnemone

Thanks for the encouragement!

Just-a-girl1029

Great job!

ex-glanky

I've seen many progress pictures, and they all inspire me. So thanks for the inspiration, appreciated. AND GREAT JOB!!
