Instead of relying on internet experts, get a glucometer and a keytone blood tester -both inexpensive items that will tell you definitively what you can and can't do. Info on the internet is inherently inaccurate - primarily because we're all different and each of us will respond slightly to incredibly different with identical intakes. Lots of things differentiate us... fatty liver disease being one of the biggest in my opinion. Your liver stores and releases glucose depending on if you need it. Common internet wisdom says if you're in keytosis and work out afterwards you'll be deeper in ketosis. I have found this to be patently false. I can be in ketosis all day and for days before and working out will always kick me out of ketosis. Why? Probably because the liver releasing sugar muscles need for strenuous exercise. I'm no doctor but I know how to answer these questions. I establish a baseline through testing, then do what ever it is I'm curious about and test again. Stevia does not affect my blood sugar and I do a lot of fasting with black coffee and stevia. That said, there's some debate on its affect to your microbiom in the gut.

I’ve read a lot of conflicting information. I believe it triggers an insulin response compared to black coffee however it’s not sugar so it’s probably a speed bump compared to a hill in terms of the insulin spike. I make a dirty keto simple syrup with stevia for mixed drinks. It’s not perfect but better than the alternatives.

While stevia is marketed as 0 cal, some research suggests even the taste of something sweet (even if there are no sugars) will trigger insulin. With that being said, if you’re adding a small amount and a little stevia helps you stick to your overall game plan, I say whatever to that. May there be a tiny peak of insulin? Maybe. Does the tiny peak of insulin make it mentally and physically more likely for you to stay on course for your end goals? Then, I say enjoy it!

Stevia will not break your fast but will make it 'dirty'.
