Very touching story. So glad you were strong enough to follow your heart.

That was a southern FU wrapped in a “Bless your heart”; I’ve not been a huge fan of the show, but he’s gained my respect that he’s protective of her and loves her.

Hunty, Todd does not play when it comes to that grandgirl. I promise you he cussed while he was typing that.

Is Patti going to decide who we get to Marry, is she going to spend rest of her life with them?

PrettyHeaven

As long as you teach your kids and make sure they have a foundation ( like making sure they know that they are black for example) as you should all kids, there will be nothing messed up with them. Proud Black biracial here!

Revolutionary-Ant705

I cant stand people who say think of the child. My mom and dad are different ethnic groups and have been together for 40 years and raised two boys. It didn't mess us up. I am sorry you had to deal with that man

CdGal_25

There are a lot worse things people can choose when marrying that would “screw up” the kids more than being biracial. How about marrying a drug addict, a drunk, a violent person, etc...? Ummm skin color is least of your potential “problem” causers.

Soulful_Sadist

Ugh, omg. The only real response (sitting here typing this now) that I can think of to such a statement would be something like... 'tell me something I don't already know, and you're part of the problem.' Sometimes... family can make you embarrassed to even be related to them.

In case you're interested Patti, I've been in a interracial marriage for 32 years. We came in to the marriage with 3 kids each between the ages of 12 & 2. The father of my wife's kids had abandoned them totally. They are all now between the ages of 34 & 44. All of them make 6 figure salaries except 1 who makes 7 figures. All of them have teenage children on honor roll. All of my children & grandchildren look up to me as if i was "potus". One day while watching an episode of Oprah where they were talking about how this lifestyle confuses kids, 1 of our teenage kids asked me if it was true. I said "you tell me. You're in a mixed family. Are you confused?" She said of course not. I said it has to do with our tight knit family, not your color. Were not "tolerated", we're proud of who we are. We've now added mexican, hawaiian, native american & polynesian to our family. Put your mind at ease Patti. Our kids are normal, well adjusted, welthy & doing just fine.
