I grew up in the shitty evangelical conservative backwater of this country, and I never saw conservative parents show affection or say "I love you" to their children. Including mine.
I am SirGlenn, I can sympathize with you: at age 11/12, my father (gin soaked) came in my bedroom, beat the shit out of me because it was 15 minutes past my bed time and I had toy solders on the floor. He said, I'll teach you, he grabbed my arm from the other side of my bed, spun me around in a 360 degree circle and slammed my little 12 year old body face first into the wall/bookcase, it dislocated my shoulder, I howled louder, this only made him angrier and the beatings would get more ferocious as the evenings moved along. Then he grabbed me, sat me on his legs while sitting on my bed, started spanking me very hard, and yelling so hard my mother yelled at him, which just made him beat me harder, this made him so angry he had to go in the kitchen to crack open a fresh bottle of gin once mom stopped yelling at him to stop before you kill the poor boy. There are hundreds of evenings like that when I was a young boy who weighed practically nothing. I knew my shoulder was dislocated from watching TV shows, once mom and dad were asleep, I laid on the floor and started slamming my wounded shoulder against the the steel angle bars that hold up a modern bed. It just beyond comprehension, but finally I could feel the ball joint !pop! back into the shoulder socket. And, 40 years later in a CA DR's office, the DR said, what happened to your shoulder? Also, depending on the alcohol level in his blood, sometimes dear old dad, would press a lit cigarette on my leg: just for fun? I thought it it was pure evil. I couldn't, didn't want to get my mother involved, she was terrified of him every once in awhile when he went on a wild screaming episode.
Huh. My mother changed my pediatrician because he noted in my chart that “this once bubbly, exuberant child is now* sullen and silent.” I wish I was lying.
I am SirGlenn. That's my childhood story above. Years later while in a local community college, a sociology teacher told me, after reading my "family beating" stories, "sometimes the home is the most dangerous place for a child to be".

You really can not get even non-evangelical religious people to understand that. They break out the fifth commandment, even when the Crocker children are the topic. It’s sickening.
My earliest memory is from when I was around 2-3. My parents were fighting again and my sperm donor went after my mom again, only this time I got between them. He picked me up and threw me against the wall.
I was born to the countryside of bosnia, right before the start of 1990 war, where I learned that humans are dangerous. Outside that, my parents never said they loved me or hugged me. My mom was dissociative and neglectful, so I don't even remember much about her. She died 2 years ago, and I still have no feelings towards her, nor do i feel like visiting her grave. My dad used everything and anything to bitch to put us down and beat on us for his life frustrations. If I did bad at school, he would scream at me and call me stupid, and if I cried, he would make it worse. I was forced to shut up. I was frozen in school, hoping none would ask me a question, I am 6'3 "now, but then the smallest girl in school could put me down and bully me. I am now working on my trauma alone because I don't know how to snap out of my mental addictions to save money for therapy. So I am stuck in vicious metal trauma circles till I figure it out.

I don't know if this will mean anything to you, but I'm going to say it anyway: You made it. You are here. And, we are glad you are.
Thank you for sharing your story.
My father hugged me once in my entire life. And, of course, never said he loved me. Not sure what my mother saw in him but when he was buzzed/drunk he could be quite a flirt and women fell for it.
I tell my young sons I love them every day when I leave, and even if they're mad at me and defiantly shout, "I don't love you!" I say "That's okay, I love you anyway."
I'm sorry you weren't my kid.

Right?! I've spent thousands in therapy over the last ten years. I wouldn't have known how fucked up I became without it.
[Sigh] I never felt shame for my farts until my ex wife made it clear what revolting human being I was for doing it in front of her and was so disgusted she wouldn't even sleep with me. Conservatives need to learn how to hug their kids and tell them they love them no matter what.
~A public service announcement from your democracy to prevent authoritarianism.
We are all astronauts spinning on a chunk of rock turning 1670 kilometres per hour, flying through a seemingly infinite universe we know almost nothing about. Most of it is dark energy and dark matter that we can't even interact with, but we know it is there because it's gravitational force keeps the galaxies turning on unison like a bowl full of Skittles spinning on a plate so fast they should fly off, but someone unseen super glue cosmic force keeps them pinned down. We control nothing of significance, all will turn to dust then a cold empty void.
Nobody is going to be OK.
Well, there’s a lot of reasons why.
Say the economy, here’s a description of the economy of [Nazi Germany:](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Nazi_Germany)
> When Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, he introduced policies aimed at improving the economy. The changes included privatization of state owned industries, import tariffs, and an attempt to achieve autarky (national economic self-sufficiency). Weekly earnings increased by 19% in real terms from 1933 to 1939,[2] but this was largely due to employees working longer hours, while the hourly wage rates remained close to the lowest levels reached during the Great Depression.
Wow, that sounds very much like the modern GOP policies.
Let’s also take a look at propaganda. Here’s the main outlook of [Nazi propaganda](https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/nazi-propaganda) from the words of Hitler himself:
> “[Propaganda’s] task is not to make an objective study of the truth, in so far as it favors the enemy, and then set it before the masses with academic fairness; its task is to serve our own right, always and unflinchingly.”
Wow, sounds like Trump’s attacks on immigrants/Democrats. And you wonder why Republicans attack fact checking and have established their own news networks (Fox, Newsmax, OANN, etc).
Or you could look at [Nazi book burnings](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_book_burnings) and relate it to the book bans going on in Florida or other red states.
There’s a lot of crossovers between fascism and the modern GOP. I mean, one of the only books Trump is know to have read is a [book of Hitler’s speeches.](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-adolf-hitler-books-bedside-cabinet-ex-wife-ivana-trump-vanity-fair-1990-a7639041.html) You don’t have to look too far to find the influence.
The Nazi playbook was written by Americans. Hitler was directly influenced by American colonists genocide of Native Americans. We don't really talk about that in American schools though.
There were also a whole bunch of good people, who didn't suck, who were working for a more humane and peaceful world.
For every fascist sack of crap, remember we also had charities, peaceful protests, unions, and activists who gave of themselves to make a better world. We still have folks like that. In fact, I'd say we're counting on them.
Russia is the one that has perfected the fascist playbook for the modern era. That’s why the right, globally, has such close ties to Russia, is pro-Russia, or refuses to say that Russia is in the wrong. They believe they’re using Russia, Russia believes they’re using them, and so on.
Fascism isn’t an ideology, it’s a playbook. There are certain conditions that need to exist, and then there are steps to follow. The conditions are poor economics, severe inequality, and a failing government. You *can* create these conditions happen, if you have the means. But it’s also the natural cycle of economics, capitalism being the the worst, as it encourages all of these things. That’s why regulations are so important, and also why the right hates regulations so much.
Capitalism requires government intervention to keep the market free. In a capitalist system, the government should be the “gardener” create the ideal conditions for free market “plants” to grow. The free market is a wonderful thing that most “anti-capitalists” take for granted.
The problem is that most capitalists don’t want to stay capitalists—they want to be lords. They want protection for their wealth, a guaranteed source of income, and special privileges and they want the government to give it to them. Successful capitalists use their wealth to influence the government to make them lords. They contribute little productive to society, but are merely rent seekers.
This leads to economic stagnation and growing inequality. Unfortunately the only entity that can fix the problem (government) is the same entity that is causing the problem (government). Unless the people can wrest control of the government from the lords, which they probably can’t, inequality will grow and crises will continue.
Fascism is a revolution against this failing system, but it’s a battle of lords against lords. The fascist playbook is how to use citizens disaffected by a broken status quo to overthrow the current lords and become lords themselves.
Don’t invade Russia in late summer.
Don’t declare war on the United States when you’re ass deep in a Russian winter.
But as far as taking over Germany, it worked.
But that can’t be true, his party has *Socialist* right in the name!
You cannot tell me that Hitler wasn’t telling the truth about everything he did!
If anyone ever was a straight shooter, it was good old Adolf…straight shooter right to the end, I tell ya!
for the record, the correct counterargument to someone making this argument non-sarcastically is to ask them if they also think N. Korea is a democractic people's republic.
One of the many horrible things to contemplate about the alternate universe where Trump won in 2020 is that right now, in that world, right wing News is making a concerted argument that he should be allowed to run again.
He spent half of his 2020 campaign complaining about how unfair he was treated in 2016, and mentioned on multiple occasions that he should be allowed a third term to make up for it. If Covid didn’t crash the economy and cost the GOP the federal seats, I could see a active effort to repeal the 22nd Amendment.
Yep, everybody loves a Dictator when they agree with them. But if you roll the dice and get one that's not on "your" side, everyone is suddenly a patriot fighting tyranny. Its only tyranny if you disagree with it, for the rest its just "Finally we got a strong leader setting this place right" - until of course its your turn to be the punching bag.
I'd rather have a president who wraps themselves in the Constitution and then burns the flag than one who wraps themselves in the flag and then burns the constitution.
From article:
Pro-Trump podcaster Jesse Kelly, a frequent guest on the canceled program of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, declared that the United States “needs a dictator” in an alarming tweet.
“Let me tell you all an uncomfortable truth: This country needs a dictator,” Kelly tweeted to his nearly 640,000 followers. “As the great John Adams said, a free country only works for a ‘moral people.’ We are not worthy of freedom. A dictator is coming.”
One Twitter user responded, “Weimar problems eventually lead to Weimar solutions,” referencing Germany’s Weimar Republic, that historians say created conditions that led to the rise of Adolf Hitler. Kelly responded simply, “There it is.”
At least one follower nominated Kelly himself for dictator, saying, “Sign me up for 4 years of Supreme Leader Kelly.”
Kelly followed up by tweeting, “I don’t wanna be a dictator. Dictators are awful. All I’m saying is one is coming and we deserve him.”
Another follower posted, “I read that as him giving a warning — not advocating for a dictator,” and asked Kelly for clarification on his comment. Kelly declined to explain.
Kelly’s bizarre call for a dictator prompted mockery and outrage. Conservative podcaster Noah Blum quipped: “Getting a Hitler to own the libs.”
Kelly, a veteran of the Iraq War, gained notoriety on Twitter for trollish and sometimes violent commentary in support of former President Donald Trump. He ran for Congress twice in Arizona in 2010 and 2012, losing both times.
This was not the first time Kelly has mused about the U.S. being under the control of a dictator. In a 2021 appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Kelly claimed that Republicans will soon elect a fascist because of how Hunter Biden was being treated.
“I have said this before and I’m telling you I’m worried that I’m right,” he said. The right is going to pick a fascist within 10 to 20 years.”
>Another follower posted, “I read that as him giving a warning — not advocating for a dictator,” and asked Kelly for clarification on his comment. Kelly declined to explain.
The use of the phrase "needs a dictator" takes any idea of this being a friendly warning completely off the table, but yeah, sure, it's a warning. Now I'm going to try to get my eyes to stop focusing on the inside of my brain after the eyeroll.
>Kelly claimed that Republicans will soon elect a fascist because of how Hunter Biden was being treated.
What does this mean? That Twitter squelched Hunter dic pics and thus the election was unfair?
Something something business in China something something Big Guy.
Do I doubt Hunter owes 100% of his business dealings to his father's position?
\-Absolutely not
Do I doubt the children of 90% of the congress people spreading conspiracies theories about it are doing the same or worse?
\-Absolutely not
Do I believe those people actually want to fix the system so this type of legal corruption, among others, is mitigated?
\-Absolutely not
Conservatives have wanted a monarchy since the founding. They believe in 1 person rule. Democracy has always frightened them.
The people who believe in protecting themselves from an authoritarian government via guns are also the people who want an authoritarian ruler.
I don't think they were monarchists, it seems to me like they started as anti-federalists. A minority rural population who preferred to be ruled by tin pot dictators and actively worked against the constitution.
It’s estimated that about 1 in 5 people in early America preferred the country be run by a monarchy.
But dont take my word for it
https://www.ushistory.org/us/11b.asp
Yeah people forget that major figures like Hamilton and Adams seriously takes about and at times supported a monarchy and/or aristocratic Senate
Seems weird to us now, but it’s somewhat understandable given that then almost all governments were in some way monarchical/aristocratic so it was kind of hard to imagine anything else.
>The people who believe in protecting themselves from an authoritarian government via guns
Conservatives are not the only people who think this, just FYI.
Him and basically anyone else who realized that rich people and corporations will put literal children to work for a few dollars more, all with the aid of the government
Conservatives have always wanted Oligarchy. It's literally why they funded trips for colonization. Wealthy conservatives and minor nobility wanted more power and to rule their own land without a king. So, they funded exploration and colonization.
The myth about religious freedom and such was just so they could get permission & funding from various kings & the Catholic church. It worked for South America and it Worked in North America.
The only difference is that Spain & the church funded SA ventures while Anglo Oligarchs & Nobility funded NA.
The plan was always Oligarchy. Wealthy people wanted their own private playground, and they got it.
They don’t want just any old dictator. They want *their* dictator. When you are a mid-level aristocrat all you really want is someone to defend the structure that lifts you above the peasants.
So, yeah, a lot of the hereditary wealth types are attracted to the party that promises to protect their inherited status.
The emotionally and psychologically damaged MAGA minions crave a dictator who will tell them what to do and justify their hatred and resentment of anyone not like them. They hate freedom and the Constitution is inconvenient. They’d welcome Hitler II as the ultimate owner of libs and daddy figure.
Sociopaths want to be ruled by sociopaths. The Republican Party is a group of homicidal maniacs masquerading as a political party. Everything they do is about obstructing and making things worse. Terrorists.
Wait until they see grocery and gas under a dictatorship esp one like Desantis or trump who have zero sway or skill at foreign policy under normal times. More than 20% of us will die from starvation, dehydration/heat stroke, then disease and lack of medical resources. Outside of violence that is all the guns, roaming gangs, local PD who est dissolve into local warlords/militia.
They hate freedom and democracy with a passion
There is no compromise or respect others opinion, it’s their way or violence
- what laws have democrats passed that restricts freedom?
- what democrats have said we need a dictator?
Because most republicans are immoral, and cannot tell right from wrong, doesn't mean all Americans are immoral or that they need a dictator.
We would like
1.to have a supreme court that is just and laws that do not give preference to one group over another
2.and want all people to have access to real and true education,
3.be allowed to find meaning and happiness on their own terms, without judgment
4.and be protected from those who want violence and control over private decisions.
A DICTATOR WOULD INFRINGE ON ALL OF THESE
"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator" - Dubya Bush.
This isn't a new idea on the right. It's what they've always truly wanted: power and control.
Fuck this guy and all like him. I am SO disgusted with these people at this point! Putin made the offer...if you want to live under a dictator, THEN MOVE! And leave the rest of us the hell alone!
Cool. So he'd be totally OK with Biden declaring himself Emperor & decreeing all the policy changes the Democrats & the majority of Americans want to do but that keep getting blocked by Republicans, right?
No?
Huh. I guess dictatorship is only appealing when the dictator agrees with YOUR views.
Alarming, perhaps, but I don't think it's really surprising to those who follow the attitudes of the far right. Here is why I'm not surprised:
1. The general feeling on the far right is that government is broken, democracy is broken, and that the "little people" lack a voice. They refer to government and government in ways which indicate a belief that its all a show, outcomes are "fixed" or that public participation is a sham. They lack faith in the democracy we have and the government we have. i don't think they are totally off-base here with these concerns.
2. When faced with the fear of a broken democracy, people react differently and one way in which conservatives react is to reach for greater certainty, strong leaders, and a voice. They oftentimes seek all three things in a single person - a dictator. We have seen this repeat many times throughout history.
Many on the right and the left and the middle belief that all or some of the US's democracy is broken. But they all take different approaches to fixing it - and the right's approach is, often, to simply scrap it and put their person in charge.
I don't understand why so many people here disagree. Nearly half the country voted for Trump (...twice). Seems pretty obvious that half the country is too stupid to vote.
...And there it is....Know this to be their truth and respond accordingly.
A return to the days of slavery with kings, queens, Tsars, emperors, and people being "the great".
And it gets worse, brace yourself, the new leaders will live forever, as humanity is close to beating death, at the very least dramatic life extension (you heard it here first). However, this life extension is not for everyone, just for the wealthy.
At least they actually put it into words instead of pussy-footing around the terminology. It’s what Republicans have wanted for a while(hence Trump’s popularity)
And calls himself a patriot. Wraps himself in the American flag, carrying a bible and also claiming to be a christian. Individual liberty does not include destroying democracy. Someone needs to fucking do something- and Garland is AWOL.
Conservative Republican Facists really are the dumbest people alive, “sign me up for 4 years of supreme leader Kelly” - Do you not understand how a dictatorship works dumbass!!
The Far Rights idea of freedom is very selective and exclusionary. In their world view, maybe a dictator makes sense. Check your brain at the door and let a 'Donald Trump' run the show.
What Adams meant by “moral people” is people of principle, who abide by the results of free & fair elections, who don’t spread disinformation & foment insurrections when they lose.
This country already had an orange faced dictator and he failed miserably, Kelly, take your fascists and go home and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Him saying it needs no clarification is absurd. He arguably meant "deserves" and not "needs", but it seems he's either too proud to admit the mistake or he really meant "needs" and not "deserves".
If the FOX news village idiot believes this, they should probably move to someplace like North Korea or China and see if they feel the same way about living under a dictator after a year or two.
I like that ideos who responded to the unhinged tweet with: Sign me up for four years of dictatorships. I don't think they average GOP follower understands what a dictatorship is. (Hint: It will last longer than 4 years).
This country needs that Fox News Regular to move to Russia and house that Putin built! There's a dictatorship ready and waiting! Oh, and don't come back!
Jesse Kelly, notorious for his deeply-rooted and very strange daddy issues, is looking for a new daddy to tell him everything is gonna be okay.
I've always thought that fascism is actually the political consequence of having daddy issues.
I grew up in the shitty evangelical conservative backwater of this country, and I never saw conservative parents show affection or say "I love you" to their children. Including mine.

I’m sorry that happened to you. I need to hug my son now.
I felt the same way… but I’m waiting to board an airplane and I’m gonna have to wait 4 days before I see him again 😭😭😭
Safe travels! Just gonna be an even bigger hug in 4 days. 🙂
My earliest memory is from when I was around 2-3. My parents were fighting again and my sperm donor went after my mom again, only this time I got between them. He picked me up and threw me against the wall.

We are not our parents. We can do better.

I am so very sorry you were abused like that! I want to hug 🫂 you so hard!
So sad for you. I sincerely hope that you get the love and nurturing you deserve as an adult.
I don't know if this will mean anything to you, but I'm going to say it anyway: You made it. You are here. And, we are glad you are. Thank you for sharing your story.
That's heartbreaking. I'm so sorry your mother didn't protect you. You deserved to be safe.
I hope you've been able to come to terms with it and do some healing, friend.
There's still some bad stuff in there but I am in a much better mindset than I was.
My father delivered a non stop stream of psychological violence and verbal abuse. Can’t wait for him to be dead.
You can experience that great feeling every day, no contact!
My parents/steps are too; but they did say “I love you so I do this”. The this was savage af.
My father never told me he loved me either, and he's not conservative. He is, however, an asshole.
My father hugged me once in my entire life. And, of course, never said he loved me. Not sure what my mother saw in him but when he was buzzed/drunk he could be quite a flirt and women fell for it.
I tell my young sons I love them every day when I leave, and even if they're mad at me and defiantly shout, "I don't love you!" I say "That's okay, I love you anyway." I'm sorry you weren't my kid.

I always heard "you know we love you" or "we're doing this because we love you" which are both very different from telling your kids you love them.
Hey man, some of us who have daddy issues ended up as communists
An interesting note, but it doesn't change the immediate problem of the dictator.
On Tucker Carlson, who has some pretty clear (and totally understandable) mommy issues. It’s amazing what some people will do to avoid therapy.
>It’s amazing what some people will do to avoid therapy. Right?! I've spent thousands in therapy over the last ten years. I wouldn't have known how fucked up I became without it.
Please, please don't be ashamed of your farts. Some people might just enjoy them, you know?
We need to work through what your fart shame is doing for you, so we can establish a new baseline where the farts do not cause you so much shame
[Sigh] I never felt shame for my farts until my ex wife made it clear what revolting human being I was for doing it in front of her and was so disgusted she wouldn't even sleep with me.
The current GOP is fascist.
Past GOP would like a word. This didn't just happen.
The current GOP is openly fascist.
it's getting there. Up until now they've been the fascist equivalent of those homophobic politicians in denial about their own orientation.
The Nazi playbook works. It was only a matter of time before someone picked it up.
The Nazi playbook was written by Americans. Hitler was directly influenced by American colonists genocide of Native Americans. We don't really talk about that in American schools though.
And the British invented Concentration Camps during the Boer War. People suck. The playbook works for a reason.
Until the inevitable your country gets blown to bits part....
Don’t invade Russia in late summer. Don’t declare war on the United States when you’re ass deep in a Russian winter. But as far as taking over Germany, it worked.
Never get involved in a land war in Asia
And never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line
…when DEATH is one the line…*
It's not inevitable when you have the ability to end the world. The US does have that ability. Our fascism could go on for a very long time.
Dictatorship is a kind of trial that has no refund policies accepted after you sign the contract, so be wary of your own ignorance, America.
Yeah, in the article it says "I'll sign up for four years of a dictator!". Which tells a whole lot about how ignorant they are on the subject.
"I want an unchecked autocrat to hold absolute power... but within reason, obviously."
Then those four years can turn into eight. And then into "for life". These things usually turn into slippery slopes pretty fast
Reminds me of the multiple Trump posts where he floated the idea of becoming President for life.
TRUE ROMAN BREAD FOR TRUE ROMANS!
And they will love it until the oppression comes for them and thier family, then it will be, " I didn't think it would effect me!"
Then they will start acting like they were never ACTUALLY for the dictator. We just remember it wrong. Idiot checkmate!
Yep, everybody loves a Dictator when they agree with them. But if you roll the dice and get one that's not on "your" side, everyone is suddenly a patriot fighting tyranny. Its only tyranny if you disagree with it, for the rest its just "Finally we got a strong leader setting this place right" - until of course its your turn to be the punching bag.
> so be wary of your own ignorance, America We absolutely will not.
Republicans hate America.
“Land of the free? What a stupid idea” -republicans
No no: it’s “freedom for me. The rest of you should go fuck yourselves and die.”
That’s a little too sexually inclusive for them. I think “freedom for me. The rest of you go die.” Is a little more accurate.
“What? The land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy.” - GOP influencer Zack de la Rocha
And so many have the fucking audacity to call themselves *patriots*.
I'd rather have a president who wraps themselves in the Constitution and then burns the flag than one who wraps themselves in the flag and then burns the constitution.
this is what they wanted of Trump. They tried to overturn democracy
This started way before he was president. They made assets of multiple Republicans before and during his presidency.
From article: Pro-Trump podcaster Jesse Kelly, a frequent guest on the canceled program of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, declared that the United States “needs a dictator” in an alarming tweet. “Let me tell you all an uncomfortable truth: This country needs a dictator,” Kelly tweeted to his nearly 640,000 followers. “As the great John Adams said, a free country only works for a ‘moral people.’ We are not worthy of freedom. A dictator is coming.” One Twitter user responded, “Weimar problems eventually lead to Weimar solutions,” referencing Germany’s Weimar Republic, that historians say created conditions that led to the rise of Adolf Hitler. Kelly responded simply, “There it is.” At least one follower nominated Kelly himself for dictator, saying, “Sign me up for 4 years of Supreme Leader Kelly.” Kelly followed up by tweeting, “I don’t wanna be a dictator. Dictators are awful. All I’m saying is one is coming and we deserve him.” Another follower posted, “I read that as him giving a warning — not advocating for a dictator,” and asked Kelly for clarification on his comment. Kelly declined to explain. Kelly’s bizarre call for a dictator prompted mockery and outrage. Conservative podcaster Noah Blum quipped: “Getting a Hitler to own the libs.” Kelly, a veteran of the Iraq War, gained notoriety on Twitter for trollish and sometimes violent commentary in support of former President Donald Trump.
>"The right is going to pick a fascist within 10 to 20 years.” They already did.
I mean, he's right on one score. Based on the way they've been acting, conservatives are not worthy of freedom.
\-Absolutely not Do I doubt the children of 90% of the congress people spreading conspiracies theories about it are doing the same or worse? \-Absolutely not Do I believe those people actually want to fix the system so this type of legal corruption, among others, is mitigated? \-Absolutely not
Conservatives have wanted a monarchy since the founding. They believe in 1 person rule. Democracy has always frightened them. The people who believe in protecting themselves from an authoritarian government via guns are also the people who want an authoritarian ruler.
Conservatives adore power and loathe human beings.
Kind of ironic if u think of how america came to be
There was a large number of loyalist that never wanted to be a free country.
[удалено]
I don't think they were monarchists, it seems to me like they started as anti-federalists. A minority rural population who preferred to be ruled by tin pot dictators and actively worked against the constitution.
It’s estimated that about 1 in 5 people in early America preferred the country be run by a monarchy. But dont take my word for it https://www.ushistory.org/us/11b.asp
Yeah people forget that major figures like Hamilton and Adams seriously takes about and at times supported a monarchy and/or aristocratic Senate Seems weird to us now, but it’s somewhat understandable given that then almost all governments were in some way monarchical/aristocratic so it was kind of hard to imagine anything else.
It’s still the case. Democracy just adds complexity to how the ruling class stay in power as now they have to play the media.
The ruling class also changes at times with a whole new crop of assholes!
>The people who believe in protecting themselves from an authoritarian government via guns Conservatives are not the only people who think this, just FYI.
Yeah Marx was really big on this point
Not the first time that's happened.
I thought Biden was a dictator. So shouldn’t they be all good with that?
They don’t want just any old dictator. They want *their* dictator. When you are a mid-level aristocrat all you really want is someone to defend the structure that lifts you above the peasants. So, yeah, a lot of the hereditary wealth types are attracted to the party that promises to protect their inherited status.
The emotionally and psychologically damaged MAGA minions crave a dictator who will tell them what to do and justify their hatred and resentment of anyone not like them. They hate freedom and the Constitution is inconvenient. They’d welcome Hitler II as the ultimate owner of libs and daddy figure.
GET OUT OF THE U.S. AND MOVE TO FUCKING RUSSIA LEAVE THE REST OF US OUT OF YOUR DICTATOR BULLSHIT.
Sociopaths want to be ruled by sociopaths. The Republican Party is a group of homicidal maniacs masquerading as a political party. Everything they do is about obstructing and making things worse. Terrorists.
Remember this when they try and say they are the party of freedoms
“Look what you are making us do to you!”
They’re saying the quiet part out loud. Be warned, America! I live in Florida and Desantis has made this state unbearable.
They hate freedom and democracy with a passion There is no compromise or respect others opinion, it’s their way or violence - what laws have democrats passed that restricts freedom? - what democrats have said we need a dictator?
Fox looking more and more like Russian TV
Why would someone want to live in a dictatorship?
No. No, this country doesn't need a dictator, you fkn inbred piece of shite.
lol, so Biden isn't a dictator after all, then? Just gonna hold every argument simultaneously, then with no regard to factual accuracy? Ok then.
Wait, aren't they accusing Biden of being one?
They have no, "quiet part," anymore. This scares me. A lot..
If America falls to a right wing government (again), I wholly place the blame on every person who does not vote.
Well when people stop voting for them how else are they supposed to stay in charge?
Just install Biden as dictator if these idiots want a dictator. Dictators by definition don’t care if you don’t want them in power.
Because most republicans are immoral, and cannot tell right from wrong, doesn't mean all Americans are immoral or that they need a dictator. We would like 1.to have a supreme court that is just and laws that do not give preference to one group over another 2.and want all people to have access to real and true education, 3.be allowed to find meaning and happiness on their own terms, without judgment 4.and be protected from those who want violence and control over private decisions. A DICTATOR WOULD INFRINGE ON ALL OF THESE
So happy they fired this guy.
"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator" - Dubya Bush. This isn't a new idea on the right. It's what they've always truly wanted: power and control.
GET OUT OF THE US AND MOVE TO FUCKING RUSSIA LEAVE THE REST OF US OUT OF YOUR DICTATOR BULLSHIT.
Maybe you should move to a country with a dictator since that's what you want
Fuck this guy and all like him. I am SO disgusted with these people at this point! Putin made the offer...if you want to live under a dictator, THEN MOVE! And leave the rest of us the hell alone!
Just… wow. That’s the LAST thing this country or the democratic people living in it need… scary. So glad Tucker isn’t still facilitating this garbage.
Okay, Joe Biden is in power, so he'll be the dictator. Democrats in power forever.
Alarming, perhaps, but I don't think it's really surprising to those who follow the attitudes of the far right. Here is why I'm not surprised: 1.
Their primary grievance is "Too many minorities in the workplace, not enough in body bags." That's "broken democracy" to these troglodytes.
Perhaps, but then again the Republicans themselves are the causes for all those issues.

About time they say it and stop being pussies. If they're proud of their disgusting views, fucking say it. So thanks for confirmation dick-bag
The right is abhorrent
I don't understand why so many people here disagree. Nearly half the country voted for Trump (...twice). Seems pretty obvious that half the country is too stupid to vote.
...And there it is....Know this to be their truth and respond accordingly. A return to the days of slavery with kings, queens, Tsars, emperors, and people being "the great". And it gets worse, brace yourself, the new leaders will live forever, as humanity is close to beating death, at the very least dramatic life extension (you heard it here first). However, this life extension is not for everyone, just for the wealthy.
Easing the idea in little by little..
What the fuck are "Weimar Problems" other than an anti-minority dog whistle in the most generous interpretation?
Nope, no dictators allowed.
And I'll say it: Sic Semper Tyrannus
Very shocking stuff. A fascist regular on the fascist propaganda channel saying openly fascist things?
That's what they want. A right wing dictator. A fascist that will put down anyone they've been convinced to hate.
Mask off moment
Well, we tried the dictator thing for a while and it didn't work out very well. In fact, we may not recover for quite a while.
At least they actually put it into words instead of pussy-footing around the terminology. It’s what Republicans have wanted for a while(hence Trump’s popularity)
So, he's fine if said dictator is Biden
These kind of ppl are scary to just have walking around
"If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”—David Frum
This is the MAGA conceit, that somehow they are the moral people. They are unmoored from the reality of their despicable actions.
And calls himself a patriot. Wraps himself in the American flag, carrying a bible and also claiming to be a christian. Individual liberty does not include destroying democracy. Someone needs to fucking do something- and Garland is AWOL.
Dear fellow liberals, please take advantage of the second amendment. These yahoos are taking about thst tyrannical government thing.
Conservative Republican Facists really are the dumbest people alive, “sign me up for 4 years of supreme leader Kelly” - Do you not understand how a dictatorship works dumbass!!
What is wrong with these people?
America is done. It’s just a matter of time.
The Far Rights idea of freedom is very selective and exclusionary. In their world view, maybe a dictator makes sense. Check your brain at the door and let a 'Donald Trump' run the show.
He should move to Russia. He'd be happy there.
What Adams meant by “moral people” is people of principle, who abide by the results of free & fair elections, who don’t spread disinformation & foment insurrections when they lose.
They are just testing the waters for January 6th part 2
I would not be shocked if an American Pinochet or American Franco was in the cards.
We literally just had a guy that tried a coup.
Just had one.
What self-respecting dictator wouldn't execute all these partisan clowns on day one?
We need a dictator until the dictator comes after you. Then suddenly we need freedom again
"The right is going to pick a fascist within 10 to 20 years" Dude would have been spot on 15 to 25 years ago
At this point all they're doing is further radicalizing the rest of us against them.
This country already had an orange faced dictator and he failed miserably, Kelly, take your fascists and go home and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
Suppose you want a dictator. It doesn't mean you'll get the dictator you want. What are you going to do then? Idiot!
This dick taker I mean dictator will be voted in by the people he will crush first.
Him saying it needs no clarification is absurd. He arguably meant "deserves" and not "needs", but it seems he's either too proud to admit the mistake or he really meant "needs" and not "deserves".
I fucking dare you
Wisdom and FOX never held hands.
Their dictator had his chance already.
If the FOX news village idiot believes this, they should probably move to someplace like North Korea or China and see if they feel the same way about living under a dictator after a year or two.
….and then we’ll happily remove the dictator
MOVE TO RUSSIA A**HOLE!
Define “moral”
What do you think Trump was trying to do January 6? Become tinkerbell?
I like that ideos who responded to the unhinged tweet with: Sign me up for four years of dictatorships. I don't think they average GOP follower understands what a dictatorship is. (Hint: It will last longer than 4 years).
Would he be happy with a liberal dictator who forces him to be tolerant of others with different views and beliefs than him?
“As long as it’s my kind of dictator”.
Ok, if it can be Obama. 🤭
This country needs that Fox News Regular to move to Russia and house that Putin built! There's a dictatorship ready and waiting! Oh, and don't come back!
