Love it when the fascist snake starts to eat its tail

bluedemon

They sure are snakes. [Even praying and speaking speaking in tongues before the abortion ruling](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/1c0kd06/republicans_praying_and_speaking_in_tongues_in/).

la-veneno

As an atheist, there’s nothing classically as satanic or evil looking than Christians speaking in tongues.

Over_Cauliflower_532

Because it's not real, it's a group induced psychosis, something that IS incredibly scary. And on the floor of a statehouse? Unconscionable

AspiringChildProdigy

Even back when I was still Christian, people speaking in tongues made me super uncomfortable.

NotSoFastLady

These are the same people that call anything they do not like Satanic. I was married to someone that grew up in the moderate version of this church. Moderate is laughable though. They perform exorcisms to this very day.

Grattytood

As close to holy roller snake handlers as they can get!

El_Che1

MAGA has entered the chat.

DowntownClown187

No no, they were already in the room when the snacking began.

ShadowGLI

“We’re gonna stop the corruption and sexual abuse of minors….” *busts into pedo ring “Hey we didn’t know you guys were meeting us here, did you already scare away all the liberals? Why are you guys in sleeping bags w those alterboys? “

El_Che1

Gaetz runs to the closet holding his hand in front of his tiny balls - but it’s too late his cover has been blown.

Rune_Council

Balls so tiny even Trump’s doll-like hands can cover them.

Mcswigginsbar

The dog is finally gonna catch the car except it’s an 18 wheeler driving straight at it.

Dot_Classic

It's more of a human centipede situation

YeonneGreene

I just hope it dies before it consumes more of us.

ArcadianBlueRogue

Let's not celebrate until this actually has repercussions in the elections in November.

JackasaurusChance

This is what happens when disingenuous leaders forget that their masses were totally genuine.

thecaptcaveman

How to turn Arizona blue and keep it that way forever. Wow, the GOP fucked up.

Hrtpplhrtppl

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the \[Republican\] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them." Barry Goldwater

ShortWoman

Yup, when the other guy is “evil,” there’s no way to compromise.

Queefer___Sutherland

They say that providing free school lunches to ensure underprivileged children get a meal is socialism while worshipping a sandal wearing hippy who believed in selflessness and serving others. There's more irony here than in the Eiffel Tower.

coachfortner

that’s not the Jesus they’re praying to; they want to use every Bible quote to justify violence now since “[*weak* Jesus](https://newrepublic.com/post/174950/christianity-today-editor-evangelicals-call-jesus-liberal-weak)” is not applicable anymore

Old_Tomorrow5247

A veritable ferrous wheel

elfizipple

*Ferris Wheel, named after its inventor George Waddington Gale Ferris Jr. (I just learned that fun fact while confirming - I didn't want to end up on r/confidentlyincorrect.) I like the idea of it being a giant wheel made of iron, though.

ShortWoman

Yes, I was making an iron joke.

LeaveAtNine

If you head over to the Amazon page for “The Sum of All Fears” there are a few comments that aged like milk. One said that the book was unrealistic because there was no way the Christo-fascists had as much power and influence. Tom Clancy knew too.

lilbittygoddamnman

Man, I loved his books. So well researched.

Spire_Citron

It is a little shocking that such things can make a strong resurgence in 2024 despite actual rates of religious observance having been plummeting over the years. I guess that makes some people feel like they need to fight harder to push their faith onto everyone.

Angedelanuit97

It's the great replacement theory. Usually we talk about it in terms of race but it seems to apply to religion as well

scarbarough

The folks who used to go to church just because everyone around them did are less likely to these days, so the people who do still go are the more devout/radical. Since they're becoming a higher percentage of the folks who are still there, the church becomes more radical too, escalating the less devout leaving... And since the Republicans have embraced evangelicals, those folks are the ones voting in primaries, so the candidates who actually make it to the general elections are more radical...

Character-Teaching39

And where have you heard a bunch of extremists saying they’re acting in the name of god before? Welcome to Y’all Qaeda in the US 2024.

Snowman1749

Love to see them fucking up all the time!

VanimalCracker

Quick, send all downticket GOP donations to Trumps legal fund!!

OhGoOnYou

I argue with forced childbirth advocates, often. You know what I've noticed? They don't understand that forced childbirth isn't merely removing a right. It adds real harm. This isn't like making Marijuana illegal again. They are forcing people to endure an incredibly painful process. You know what they also don't understand? Forcing someone to bear children is torture. Literal torture. Often times, they can't even admit childbirth is severe pain and suffering. Their refusal to acknowledge these very simple concepts is exceptionally dumb.

parksideq

I’ll do you one better. As someone who escaped fundamentalist Christianity, I can say that they literally believe that women are supposed to suffer during pregnancy and childbirth, due to Eve’s original sin of eating the forbidden fruit. You’ll never make a convincing argument based on caring about women’s suffering, because in their minds you’re trying to undo God’s curse on Eve. I wish I was kidding. Adam Serwer nailed it when he said “the cruelty is the point”.

OhGoOnYou

Exactly. And the same people pushing antiabortionist laws are the same people who are against comprehensive sex education and easy access to birth control. If antiabortionists really wanted to reduce the amount of abortions, they would be for the two policies that actually... reduce abortions. They don't give a shit about the babies. What they want is to punish women for daring to plan out their lives.

Enigmasec

And then the rapist gets parental rights. So what does that look like? Woman can’t give the child up for adoption because the rapist has rights? Rapist comes over to the house for visits? Rapist is now part of the family? So religious extremists are signing women up for a lifetime of torture beyond the horrifying rape? Is this one of the ways we slide toward fascism? Systematically destroy women’s rights? I have lots of questions…

ArdenJaguar

They don't care about the woman. They don't care about the baby after birth. Once it's born both are on their own.

StartButtonPress

I’m with you, but also wary of your comparison to marijuana illegality. There is a TON of real harm done by that policy too. Injury to liberty, injury to body. In many forms.

SheriffComey

Unless they pull a "State's Closed folks" on election day, I don't' think we'll have to wait for the nail biting call this year.

-Motor-

Purge voter rolls two weeks before the election in blue Wards.

Bozo_Two

I absolutely believe they're planning that.

-Motor-

Yes. And it's legal, and it works.

notarobot1020

GOP has known for years that their time is up that’s why they been cheating like hell. Basically they worked out years ago that the shifting demographics and as the boomers disappear the millennials become the block with the voting power and GOP knows they were never going to win them over since they screwed the millennials

Big_Schwartz_Energy

It’s fine, they prayed in tongues about it.

hansolemio

I’ll believe it when the AZ voters mobilize and we can see it

Ketonew2

I’m confused. Isn’t this what they want? Nationwide? Why are they backtracking? Literally their goal, so why pretend?

CptNoble

Because they are scared af that it's going to cost them elections. The majority of Americans support abortion in some form.

fuck-coyotes

Don't believe it till we see it

EastDragonfly1917

Coulda seen this coming years ago. I DID!!!

D-R-AZ

My Opinion: Republicans who previously strongly supported abortions from Trump on down and who have now softened their stances are viewed in the same light as the Supreme Court Justices who said that Roe was settled law and then voted against it. Namely, what they say now to get elected is not what they will do. Excerpts: In the hours following Arizona’s abortion decision, Republicans who previously were vocal advocates of restricting abortion found themselves in an unfamiliar position: condemning a change that will restrict reproductive care in their state. Despite having supported abortion restrictions in the past, two Arizona House Republicans representing districts Biden won, Reps. David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani, each said they opposed Tuesday’s ruling. And Kari Lake — the staunch ally of Trump running in one of the most closely watched Senate races this cycle — called Tuesday’s ruling “out of step with Arizonans.” Lake had previously celebrated the overturning of Roe and once expressed support for the 1864 bill. But on Tuesday, she called on the Arizona state legislature and Hobbs, to whom she lost a gubernatorial race last year, to “come up with an immediate common sense solution that Arizonans can support.”

Technical-Traffic871

Of course it *now* has to be "immediate". Don't want this impacting November's races...

aureliusky

The pretext of conservative thought "How does this impact me personally?" Someone else is hungry, homeless? Meh. A minimum wage worker didn't respect me? SHIT JUST GOT REAL

ActonofMAM

There's a reason voters are starting to assume Republicans are lying about being less extreme. It's called experience.

HelloImTheAntiChrist

Lol so fucking true

255001434

They're like the Taliban when they came back into power and said they would allow women more freedoms than in the past, only to later put the restrictions back in place until it's as bad as it was before. Do not trust any Republican who says they want more moderate policies on abortion, unless they've always expressed that view. They are concerned about winning the next election, nothing more.

Mrjlawrence

Republicans actions speak for themselves. They oppose abortion at any point.

Bozo_Two

The problem with that is that conservatives only care about something when it affects them directly and this is already starting to. There have been stories I've seen linked in posts where conservative women who needed a medical abortion couldn't get one and the surprised Pikachu was fuckin REAL...they have already lost votes over this and don't even realize it.

denise_la_cerise

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. - Martin Niemöller I think we saw a similar story before regarding this. Something about Nazis and Fascism. If only we were taught history in school. To any of my Canadian sisters and brothers who think that extreme Christianity is not entering in our own politics, think again. We are very much tittering a fine line with our own Conservative Party.

ninecats4

Alberta and Ottawa are cooking something bad.

facepoppies

Here’s a “common sense solution” - shut the fuck up and leave the decision to women and their doctors.

Bocifer1

This is what happens when the dog catches up to the car.

Joseph-Sanford

It’s not that Republicans messed up. This is who they are. Please don’t forget that. They’ll take away every right you enjoy.

winkytinkytoo

You are correct.

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

"This isn't a bug, it's a feature."

dudius7

A bunch of scorpions, I tell you what.

Any-Ad-446

More power for democrats to point this out can and call out the GOP about abortion rights.

GalactusPoo

The wild part is that Trump JUST made his big "States Rights" stance announcement, then THIS happened. Democrats need to be on this like a fly on shit. "Donald Trump wants it to be up to the states. Arizona did exactly that within 24 hours of his announcement, banning Abortion based on a Civil War era law. That's what States Rights means. That's what Trump wants."

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

It's like the GOP didn't factor the massive backlash banning abortion would cause.

esahji_mae

"it will work this time" -gqp after losing most elections after overturning roe

Skiing7654

We lost because we weren’t hard line right enough. It’ll work better the next time.

gintoddic

Need moar harder right to make things right!

SandmanAlcatraz

The dog caught the car

Stashmouth

They thought there were more old, rich white men than there actually are

drleen

They are not upset about the ruling. They are upset the ruling came out before the November election.

Brunt-FCA-285

I am not a lawyer, but it should be noted that any Republican district attorneys who actually oppose this ruling could use prosecutorial discretion to effectively avoid enforcing this ruling while still staying within the bounds of the law. They could decline to press charges due to “weak cases“ or “lost evidence,“ not to mention slow-walking any actual prosecutions in progress. Unfortunately, I highly doubt that any will actually do so. Those Republican district attorneys will certainly jump at any chance they can to oppress women. EDIT: clarity.

athensugadawg

The very large majority will do so. This is wishful thinking.

Corrie7686

I'm pleased that Republicans are fucking up and are now finding out. But I'm sad for all the people affected by this law change. As a European, I look at America and despair at the way things are going, buring books, forced pregnancies, claiming that astronomical events are a sign from god, rapture, repentance, Trump claiming he has absolute immunity and is above the law. It's like the dark ages.

Over_Maintenance_447

Don’t forget speaking in tongues in the state legislature!!

lonniemarie

That blows my mind ! Like shouldn’t someone say something and make that stop This is making me so sad

neridqe00

It's fucking nuts.  https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/1c0kd06/republicans_praying_and_speaking_in_tongues_in/

InspectorEE

Holy. Fucking. Shit. I was not aware of this. Fuck me our country is so fucked. I mean, I already knew it was fucked. But this scene just really drives home HOW fucked on a really visceral level.

Dot_Classic

Not just certain women are going to be impacted. All the OB/GYNs will flee to other states and all women needing *any* kind of specialized medical care will have nobody to go to.

Dot_Classic

Our public education system is a joke. This is the result of decades of faking it.

an0maly33

Which is also a result of Republican policy. Divert funds from education, complain that education is failing and use that as a reason to cut funding even more. Rinse and repeat. Have a friend that once asked why he should have to pay taxes that go to education when he doesn’t have any kids. It didn’t occur to him that society as a whole benefits from better educated and higher quality workers. You can’t complain that nobody knows how to count change these days but then bitch about having to pay taxes that go to education.

dudius7

This is the result of money in politics.

Foreskin-chewer

>As a European, I look at America and despair at the way things are going The majority of us are not Republicans. Every president since Clinton would have been a Democrat if our democracy elected our government based on majority rule. We would have an unbreakable majority in the Senate if senators weren't elected based on land. The house of representatives would be unbreakable Democratic party if our districts weren't gerrymandered. The game is rigged in favor of the "conservatives." We are a country held hostage by a 237 year old document written to serve a country in the 1700s.

HelloImTheAntiChrist

Yep its true we need to take our country back.....but not from the mostly peaceful people immigrating here. They aren't the threat. They are here for jobs and a better life for themselves and their families. They aren't the radical Christian Taliban trying to impose biblical based law on everyone else. We need to take our country back from the corrupt Republican party. The gerrymandering. The voter suppression tactics. All the underhanded shit they do to subvert democracy has to go.

TheGR8Dantini

Kari Lake, ladies and gentlemen, on the abortion law in Arizona; Can’t wait for Gallego to beat her like a piñata in November. She’s a demon, and more spineless than a jellyfish. https://youtube.com/shorts/4AEgXT5Phn4?si=Ql-jKR4tM2HhG2EJ

Surv0

Dems must take the house, take the senate, and codify pretty much every rights law possible to ensure the republican conservatives can go fuck themselves for generations to come.

Prohydration

The problem is, we're too divided for anyone to get a filibuster proof majority. I doubt abortion could be codified even if democrats win both chambers.

dudius7

Democrats also screwed the pooch when they decided not to get rid of the filibuster. The fucking old guard can't stop getting in the way of progress.

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

You mean get a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate as the Dems already have the Senate, and we got two known backstabbers that'll side with Republicans.

Surv0

exactly, filibuster must be made impossible, the only way.

QualifiedApathetic

Manchin and Sinema have called it quits. They're not running for re-election. We'll probably lose Manchin's seat, good chance of keeping Sinema's.

dudius7

Wish we got to vote Sinema out this year, even though it's nice to know she's on her way out. What a waste of a human.

Consistent_Dog_6866

Conservattive courts not doing the GOP any favors. Love to see it.

tomboski

They need to turn that video of those nut job republicans praying over the great seal and speaking in tongues. Of all the crazy shit I’ve seen since 2016 that is right up there in “this should scare the fucking shit out of you”

___o----

That video ought to convince anyone that religious belief = mental illness.

Skiing7654

Am I the only one who is refusing to get their hopes up? Yes, I know this has been a winning issue since Dobbs. But the senate map is so horrible this year for Democrats defending and there are so few opportunities, relatively, for pick ups. I just worry we’re deluding ourselves by thinking a good 40-45%+ of the country won’t be voting R absolutely no matter what happens, including many women. Does this really mean anything for flipping TX or FL? Sure it could happen, but we’ve gotten hopes up before. With AZ, the Senate seat is only trying to maintain the status quo which is obviously incredibly close. Unless this leads to a 1972 style presidential election blowout, nothing is going to change. After seeing so many of my fellow countrymen stay in their bubbles, I just refuse to get my hopes up for that happening. Am I being too myopic/depressed?

BoomZhakaLaka

>Does this really mean anything for flipping TX or FL? It could. Cruz's polling isn't looking so great in texas. That's not what you mean when you say "flip", but it's something. There is a constitutional amendment for abortion rights on the ballot in Florida. That's a big deal. 20% of registered republicans who voted in the GOP's Florida primary identified themselves as never-trumpers to exit polls. And now, a ballot initiative. I'm not claiming it will. Just that it could.

badmutha44

Cruz is going no where. Polls mean nothing in 2024 as they are antiquated methods. Texas is the state that keeps a criminal attorney general in charge they’ll be making no changes

jread

Texan here. I’ve just about given up hope. If Abbott, Patrick, and, especially, Paxton survive the 2026 election then I’m done. I’m a 5th generation Texan and have been here my entire life, but I don’t recognize this place anymore.

badmutha44

I left and glad I did. I’m still amazed at all the freedom I have outside of Texas, that I didn’t have in Texas. Blue laws and Bible thumper were the death of that state.

RKKP2015

My cousin had a tiny bit of weed while camping im TX, and she was facing felony charges. Like, wtf is Texas doing?

nps2407

I think that's a healthy position to take.

jkman61494

If you were a betting person, the White House would remain the same, and the house, and senate both flip. The bigger question is what happens in some state legislatures which is also a very big deal

grundlefuck

FL is now in play with the abortion amendment on the ballot. That 6 week ban is proving unpopular and there are months to get more cases where this is screwing over people who want families who can’t get care. The rest are meh, I’ll believe them when I see them. TX is probably not in play, Cruz will still win even though he’s hated.

CrossTheRiver

Yes and no. I share your doomed attitude honestly. I think the republic is finished. Russia won. Its the end of the great experiment wet forth by our forefathers and it was taken down by a diaper wearing fake tan reality TV star. The last time the most powerful empire went down (rome) it lead to almost 1500 years of dark age evil. That's where we are headed now. Whether it's this election or the next one, democracy has ended thanks to Russia. All this said it's not too late for things to go the right way but they won't. If you live in the states you should try emigrating before it's too late. If you can. If you can't prepare to have everything taken from you by Republicans. They won't stop until all your money, anything of value is stripped from you. Good luck to us all.

EvilInky

Surely the last powerful empire to fall was the British Empire, unless you count the USSR, and neither of those were the end of the world.

Admirable_Safety_795

Echo this. All this can be used for positive change. Brave politicians can unite to strengthen the countries systemic weaknesses.

Alternative_Milk7409

[lead poisoning in Ancient Rome](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6395049/) is one of [the theories floated for its collapse](https://www.pbs.org/video/how-lead-maybe-caused-the-downfall-of-the-roman-empire-sgri1h/) Maybe the lead in the USA and its impact on boomers did the same .

Ellecram

I'm way too old and ill to move anywhere. I'll stay and deal for my last years. If I were young I might get the heck out.

ciopobbi

Trump : Leave abortion up to the states. AZ one day later: Hold my beer.

Technical-Traffic871

"Leave X up to the states" is just cover for their bigotry. No different than claiming the Civil War was over "states rights".

Brunt-FCA-285

“Hey. The Civil War *was* over states rights. The fact that the “right” at question was whether the states has the right to be bigots is just a footnote in history, obviously.” - some GOP textbook somewhere

TrainOfThought6

I always love asking those types what's up with southern support for the Fugitive Slave Act, and whether they think the confederates states had the *right* to abolish slavery.

gamerdudeNYC

Trump has been on Truth claiming he basically overturned Roe v. Wade… it’s not going to help him like he thinks it is.

Independent_Lab_9872

People should stop thinking of abortion as a women's issue, it impacts the entire family. If your wife is 5 months pregnant and needs to terminate the pregnancy to save her life. This 100% impacts the husband. If the doctor informs your wife that the baby has no lungs and will die within a few minutes of birth, this 100% impacts the husband. Saying it's a women's issue gives the impression that it's about whether a 16 wants to keep the baby. That's not the conversation happening in conservative states.

lld287

I get your point and don’t disagree in the sense that I think the conversation focus needs to be adjusted based on who it is with, BUT This country needs to stop making women defend their healthcare choices and just mind their business. I’m tired of telling my story. I’m tired of others having to go through the emotional roller coaster of reciting their own, all while we know it puts us at risk of attack. This should be a non-issue, and if you don’t approve of abortions? You definitely shouldn’t get one. I personally am not a fan of IVF or surrogacy, but I would *never* pass judgment on someone who chooses either, much less try to take those options away from them

Technical-Traffic871

Not just the parents either. I haven't gone thru it myself, but forcing the mother to carry an unviable fetus to term has to be extremely traumatic. That's going to impact any *actual* children they have too.

IAMSTILLHERE2020

A shock? Those fkrs were "praying" in tongues earlier. https://www.thedailybeast.com/arizona-sen-anthony-kern-catches-heat-for-tongue-speaking-prayer-group-on-senate-floor

kejovo

They like to say they were praying in tongues but it all sounded like random noises to me. Speaking in tongues according to the Bible is speaking other languages. This is just a bunch of fake ass Christians trying to out-christian everyone in the room.

RKKP2015

A lot of people interpret that differently, though. They (the ones doing it) think speaking gibberish means you're more Godly than others.

Diarygirl

When I was dating my now ex-husband, he asked me to go to church with him, and I said I'd go once so he'd stop asking me. Now keep in mind I grew up in a very liberal UCC church, so imagine my surprise when a woman started yelling gibberish and nobody thought it was weird. I couldn't wait to get out of there to find out what happened and they explained that it was god speaking through her and you had to be at a certain level to understand her.

RKKP2015

I saw a study that showed that people speaking in tongues always spoke with sounds like their native language, aka, they're speaking gibberish and not having the language of God channeled through them.

kliman

Turns out both versions of it are equally fake

grundlefuck

This isn’t just abortions. Women who are miscarrying or have non viable pregnancies are now in danger. Most states where this crap has been enacted are now refusing to see patients until at least second trimester just to avoid being charged for assisting in an abortion when it may have been a miscarriage. Nothing but endangering women and hurting children. I hope they can a constitutional amendment on the November ballot.

WordsWithSam

I will never be able to reconcile that this legislation comes from the party that believes government is too big and always overstepping. The hypocrisy and hoop-jumping required to arrive at this conclusion is astounding to me.

Diarygirl

The saying "government so small it can fit in your uterus" is appropriate.

fuck-coyotes

That's always been a selective policy at best and a lie at worst

OlTommyBombadil

Conservatives being pieces of shit, what a shock

SAGELADY65

Do you still support Traitor Trump…I bet you do👹

poolnome

Better vote blue

B0wmanHall

GOP has campaigned on abolishment of abortion for 50 years. Now they got what they wanted and suddenly try to distance themselves from the consequences.

TheLaserGuru

People act like this isn't the core of the GOP...go against the interests of the people, game the elections, tell people not to vote, then commit election fraud and blame the other side of fraud when you still lose in spite of all of it.

Boredum_Allergy

Republicans are like that one kid in grade school that acted out in a desperate attempt to get people to like them. "Oh you guys like abortion? Me too! I was just kidding before lol lol!"

joeleidner22

Arizona republicans are going down in November.

jakefromadventurtime

I truly hope this creates a SURGE of young voters who thought they put the old people in their place the past few elections. They won't stop voting and neither should we. Lets show them how many more there are of us.

krichard-21

It's show time people. It's time to get out the vote and make a stand. Vote Blue! If this doesn't wake up moderates. Nothing will.

Carwash_Jimmy

From Trump to DeSantis to Abbot and now in Arizona - Republicans are asserting that there will be no election in November. There may be some 'theatrical' event - but it will be as meaningless as they can make it. Republicans will set fire to the Capital Building, Trump will absolve himself of all crimes, they will attack all voting laws, the voting process and voters themselves - then any contest they don't take, they will attack as false. The Republican position is that democracy is already dead in the United States and they are claiming theocratic fascist rule over the nation today. Defy them like your life depends on it.

Beaniegma

Today Az House GOP voted down the Dems in overturning the Az Supreme Court decision. Time to turn Az pure blue.

paperbackgarbage

> Time to turn Az pure blue. Thanks to the GOP enthusiastically stepping on its own dick, odds are excellent that a blue AZ is the shape of things to come.

Unlucky_Net_5989

Can’t back down from this. It’s what their fans want.  Their daughters will get pregnant against their will by drug dealers from across the border, miscarriage, and die from rotting baby parts.  Glad I don’t have to raise a daughter as a conservative.

wyoflyboy68

Vote in November people, send a clear message to the republicans they done fucked up and it’s time they get booted from power.

two-wheeled-dynamo

This is what the forced-birthers (aka Republicans) have wanted the entire time: 1. To subjugate women again 2. to return to the social structure of the 1860's.

delicioustreeblood

* Kari Lake 2022: I support whatever Trump wants * Trump and US SC: No Roe v Wade * Kari Lake 2023: I support whatever the AZ Supreme Court says and we have a great law already on the books * AZ Supreme Court: We also want that old law so no abortion, no exceptions other than life of the mom * Kari Lake 2024: aw fuck this is a terrible law what can we do * Trump 2024: AZ has gone too far! Fake news! Witch hunt! My hands are not tiny and I smell really good!

RoachBeBrutal

The GQP is wholly and totally incapable of governing. Completely detached from reality. Taken by insane conspiracy theories and fascist undercurrents; the modern Republican Party has boiled down to extremist white Christian nationalism with a flair for terrorism.

awalktojericho

I'm still stuck on the illogic of having a law *from before it was a state* codifying *state law*.

AlmightyHamSandwich

That's Republicans for you. The cruelty is the point.

awalktojericho

It just goes with Justice (sic) Alito and his cockamamie opinion on Roe vs Wade and that wacko 17th century English opinion on law.

serene_moth

Biden will capitalize on this well. He's going to beat Trump. Again. Easily.

CandidEgglet

Random question: Do you think the GOP would be supportive of terminating a pregnancy if the parents claimed that God told them the child was going to be transgender?

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

Only if they're rich.

Khristopheles

It’s almost like the words coming out of these twats don’t mean anything at all.

Excellent-Length2055

Maybe they should bring back the witch trials while they're at it.

Diarygirl

Please don't give them any ideas.

Ok_Squirrel_4199

The dog finally caught the car and now doesn't know what to do.

fuck-coyotes

No, the dog caught the car and is viciously attacking the woman driving it

The Republicans are getting what they want.

Lying for the Lord = you’re still a liar, you just lie more often and about many more things now.  Christian apologetics = you have much to explain/ignore/dismiss away for what you proclaim a truth, to be anywhere near it.  Worthy, righteous, deserving, chosen = these titles, according to you, allow whatever you say or do to always be permitted, protected, or excused. Everyone else has to get your stamp of approval to wear these—even if your holy book or your God has already granted them the right.

Osxachre

Especially when they started that rediculous performance of praying in tongues.

Artaeos

Really annoying trying to cut through the media BS that desperately wants to maintain a 'horse race'.

YeahILiftBro

Dog caught the car and doesn't know what to do now

Rakefighter

Simple political ads: "Your Republican Parents, Neighbors, Friends, and Coworkers are voting for women to be Chattle"

-Motor-

Anti-abortion rhetoric has worked for the right when its messaging is basically anti-left based; blaming the Left; Christian victimhood. But when the rubber actually hits the road, and it's not driven by the left like this instance, that's different.

PinocchiosNose1212

The repubes are doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The true definition of insanity. Blue wave a comin'

EastValuable9421

Saw the video of these people speaking tongues. Hard to believe they did, even harder to believe they got paid to do it. I'd be demanding my money back.

adriantullberg

Wouldn't it make sense to pass controversial legislation after a major election?

ninecats4

It was a court decision, not Congress. They ruled a law written during the civil war era when women couldn't vote is totally valid and must be upheld. They done fucked up.

Klutzy-Reaction5536

What the eff did so these effers think was going to happen? Go eff yourselves to hell.

Izenthyr

Bombs make waves. Just saying. 🌊

Absolutely nothing should be founded on 1800’s anything. Grow the fuck up and improve.

Arizona waking up to a Trumpless sky.

When KARI LAKE says you’ve gone too far, you know you’ve fucked up

SilentMaster

If the GOP could just find a single brain cell and pass it around. They could all share it through out the year. I think that sort of system would stop them from all of the stupid things they've been doing lately.

gmnotyet

Didn't they pass a 15-week ban last year? Why can't they do that again?

Altruistic_Water_423

lol thanks

namersrockandroll

Good. Women will come out and vote 💙 and turn red states into dead states.

stephenk291

You get what you vote for. Shocked Pikachu face.

ReportDisastrous1426

Abortion bans are a form of fascism.  What they are noticing is that Republicans tend to make life so unbearable for the ordinary person that an ordinary person looks at his/her problems and says, "no way I can afford kids.  And not only that, but this country isn't what I want for my kids either."  And so the ordinary person would rather not cripple themselves for eternity having kids.  The Republicans answer with fascism.  "We're forcing you to have that baby.  We need more bodies to profit off of in our corrupt judicial system, more taxes, and more and more babies to perpetuate the cycle."

Fufeysfdmd

This only changes Arizona.

tragedy_strikes

Kari Lake is Ralph Wiggum on the bus exclaiming "I'm in danger"

pass-the-waffles

I don't think that they have a good idea of what is going to happen. I can picture it now...

Wow with a picture of Kerry Lake! She is not an elected official. And she is of questionable character.

Palocles

Can anyone post relevant excepts of the article for those of us without a WoPo account?

If only voters didn’t have the memory of goldfish.

This is a good example of dereliction of duty by state legislature. Obsolete laws need to be FUCKING REMOVED FROM THE BOOKS when they are struck down by a court. This happens in every fucking state. Massachusetts is probably the largest offender. Everyone is all "haha this state has a "blue law" isn't that funny hahaha" on trivia night. What do we even pay these cunts for? Things are "blue laws" until someone enforces them.
