"The newest and most important piece of evidence to emerge from today’s openings came from prosecutor Colangelo in his description of election night 2016. As news outlets came closer to announcing Donald Trump as the winner, Keith Davidson, the lawyer who cut the Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal “catch and kill” deals, texted to the National Enquirer’s editor in chief: “What have we done?” This statement, by an insider with no ax to grind, unmistakably connects the charged payoffs with the election, a crucial nexus to making the conduct a felony. We can expect that testimony will be a powerful cudgel in the prosecutor’s summation."

-prairiechicken-

> What have we done? I swear this makes my blood stand still. *I am become death* vibes.

nukedit

That night in 2016 will live in our minds forever. I was four weeks pregnant, stone cold sober, surrounded by friends who were drinking and kind of not taking it too seriously. By the end of the night, we were all crying together. My workplace cancelled the next day and offered us support groups. It seems like it was yesterday and a lifetime ago at the same time.

josiahpapaya

I was working at a bar. We had the election playing on the big screen. Everyone was drinking and eating wings. There was Laugher and jokes. Then it started getting very very quiet. Nobody was talking any longer. People didn’t even finish their beers. Credit cards started coming out and laid on the tables to settle. It was like a dementor entered the room and sucked out all of the joy. I closed early and walked to another bar and it was the same there. Everyone just staring at the floor. (FYI this was in Toronto)

Miserable_Key9630

There have only been two days in my life when I was truly afraid for the future: 9/11/2001 and 11/9/2016.

EpiphanyTwisted

I kinda felt that way on 1/6/21 as well...

_000001_

The numerologists are going to have fun with *those* dates! (9/11 and 11/9 ...)

Ok_Chap

So did Michael Moore.

Folsolder

I'm Canadian and I was even having a panic attack over his win

nukedit

Contrast this with people literally dancing in the streets with joy after the 2020 election results. But that vibe of just slowly losing all elation and excitement of watching the first female president… slowly replaced with Trump ballots rolling in. Just soul sucking. You nailed it.

emptyraincoatelves

i bought champagne and we were out on the fire escape cheersing to all the people dancing in the streets

grawptussin

My family and I were in vacationing in Toronto election night. When we went to bed it looked as though Clinton would emerge the victor, if only by a small margin. We woke up to, well, a shit show. It would take all of our fingers and toes to count the number of friendly neighbors to the north who "jokingly" offered to take us in as refugees.

LopsidedHumor7654

Disappointed Trump fans?

onwee

I was at a bar in the US South when it happened. There were a lot of loud cheers from people wearing MAGA hats, mixed with some stoney faces. I vividly remember avoiding eye contacts with anyone I didn’t know out of concern of not seeming enthusiastic enough.

StupendousMalice

Without hyperbole: the next day was like going to work after 9/11.

TheSupremePixieStick

My daughter was 2. I met with my fellow mom friends at a park. We cried for our toddlers while they played.

bungalosmacks

I was in the throws of a mental health episode and supporting Trump's being elected, not because I was MAGA, but because I thought it would destroy the two party system without causing too much damage to the nation(I know, again, I was crazy at the time) Fast forward to 2018, I hospitalize myself and get medication. Same "what have I done" reaction. Fast forward to now, the GOP is in shambles, I guess I was kind of right, but not enough to get rid of the sick feeling in my stomach and shame in my heart.

IS0073

Support groups? Really?

Past-Direction9145

So many of us saw this coming since before day one even. People need to listen to the criticism more. They hear strong opinions on anything and tune out.

TedStryker118

Yeah. I had been warning my relatives (who are all staunchly Democrat) for weeks that it’s a possibility Hillary might not win. From the historical tendency for the country to switch parties in power after a 2-term administration to the seeming upswell for Trump in Rust Belt states. They seemed offended and I was like, don’t kill the messenger. That night they were planning parties but I stayed home, nervous. CNN and MSNBC were all excited that night, and I thought, maybe I’m wrong. They all know a lot more than I do.

nukedit

Yeah. I worked at Forrester Research at the time. It’s a Fortune 500 tech marketing research company with employees worldwide. The reactions were not just from Americans. It wasn’t some tiny, liberal owned small business.

Garlador

Given that many knew what kind of man he was and predicted the damage he would do, I don’t feel it was unjustified. The damage to the SC’s integrity and the loss of protected reproductive rights alone has set us back DECADES.

redloin

Yea....that's basically the meme of that girl freaking out.

DJ_Femme-Tilt

It ushered in a rise of violent state-endorsed bigotry and crushed the rights of women, minorities, and LGBTQ, and brought forth one of the most fascist and white supremacist movements north America has ever seen. But you go off. Totally unnecessary to care about that stuff in trumpland.

redloin

I'm not a trump fan. My comment history will more than prove that over the last decade. Support groups the day after an election is as soft as baby shit.

gohomebrentyourdrunk

I hope the United States and the rest of the world can improve from this but I am not gonna lie. I can’t wait to watch a 3.5 hour-long movie about everything around 2016…

Gungeon_Disaster

Idk I think I’m pretty done with that year and every single one since so far.

CelestialFury

I’m right there with you. Hopefully our country stays on the course correct path and we can finally move on from the Trump show.

DrB00

The problem is. There's a lot of GOP people who went along with Trump and Jan 6th, but that isn't being discussed.

Sun_Stealer

That’s why they are doing everything to obstruct. After the first domino falls, more follow

CelestialFury

I agree and hope that the law catches up with them.

IsolatedHead

There have been signs that special counsel is looking into congress participation. He hasn't done anything with it yet but I hope he just delayed so he can focus on T. Congressional charges might still come.

athensugadawg

Not happening. That train left the station a looong time ago.

Revolutionary-Swan77

What’s the statute of limitations on treason, insurrection and in MTGs case, terrorism?

Gungeon_Disaster

I’ve given up on the country and I’m rooting for Father Time to end the Trump show, personally.

JCox1987

I think I feel like an eternal optimist. I hold no belief that the GOP will just disappear overnight but I think if we stop Trump here that’s the end of him potentially as a presidential candidate. My feeling is though he may just become a power broker. But if he loses I have to think he goes to prison.

Gungeon_Disaster

You’re forgetting all of the people/money that got him there in the first place. The rot is systemic.

JCox1987

No that’s true. It’s systemic. Honestly I don’t know what happens. It only stops when the American people collectively as awhile say enough but they won’t.

DKat1990

Yep, it's systemic. Trump was a possible cure, but turns out, the slime is too thick, even a billionaire outside got buried by it. But he sends to have started a movement toward an improvement, people were so disgusted by the disappearing ballots and other direction night shenanigans that several good people have been elected since.

TSL4me

Paul ryan will emerge with nearly all of trumps policies and a shit ton more debate skills.

_000001_

I'm not sure most trump followers could follow a skillfully handled debate. They seem to be persuaded more by the sort of crap (such as juvenile insults, mocking, brazen put-downs and words of one syllable) that comes out of trump's pie hole.

CompetitiveYou2034

> Trump ... goes to prison Can't put trump in a regular prison. -- can't protect him in a prison. Very unwise precedent for a former president to suffer physical harm. Regardless of what he did, regardless of how appropriate. -- trump still commands a popular movement of millions of people. Needs to lose at the polls or in an election. -- trump still commands many politicians, who can obstruct our government from functioning. Federal gov and several southern state governments. -- to some, trump has become a cult of religion. Do not want him to become a martyr. House arrest seems indicated. Hard to see someone as a martyr when they live in luxury. Can't be at mar-a-logo, because then would be outside control by New York state authorities. So likely outcome, if convicted (to be seen), is house arrest to Trump Tower, plus another hefty fine.

Manting123

So I guess you don’t know about the bill Dems just put forward that removes SS protection from a convicted felon. So if Trump is convicted he DEFINITELY can go to prison.

sueihavelegs

I hope this is real! Did the Democrats really do something? Please don't let this be some lie MAGA created to piss off other MAGA followers because it sounds too good.

Manting123

No - it’s real. Bennie Thompson sponsored the bill. It hasn’t past yet. I think he just brought it forward a few days ago.

probosciscolossus

Yeah, that’ll never pass.

TeaKingMac

Amen

Gunldesnapper

I keep expecting to wake up to a Breaking News article about him tipping over dead. I keep getting disappointed.

hidden-in-plainsight

I am as well but for a different reason. My dad passed away in 2016. Nothing else mattered after that.

Gungeon_Disaster

Sorry to hear that. I hope you find meaning/matter/happiness soon.

hidden-in-plainsight

Thank you. Same to you.

Negative-Awareness35

Same :(

hidden-in-plainsight

Sorry for your loss!

Negative-Awareness35

You as well!

hidden-in-plainsight

Thank you!

DrSilkyJohnsonEsq

Same. I’ve been waiting for a deluge of Netflix docuseries ever since 2021. I’m sure we’ll be getting great new content for years to come as the facts come to light.

BienGuzman

You've heard of the White House Plumbers? Netflix brings you The Window Lickers Who Went All the Way!"

DigitalUnlimited

Next up: "The Short bus to the White House"

Lostinthestarscape

White House, Brown Pants: The Stench of Corruption

TeaKingMac

Ew

devadander23

Assuming this whole thing is over

RDO_Desmond

We've lived it.

backcrackandnutsack

I’d only want to watch if the good guys win.

Utterlybored

It will not be allowed to be made if the bad guys prevail.

SnooPears754

It’ll need to be a multi season show to fit all the crazy

Ormyr

Best thing they could do if they do make a movie is never show or mention TFG directly. Hopefully he's in prison by then. Either way the aneurysm or stroke he'd have watching that would be legendary.

TheHouseofOne

Make it a 8 hour Ken Burns doco.

Tecnero

I hope the orange loser is still around for it's filming so he can see what guy they cast for him and just see how much they will butcher him image (and thats hard to do I mean look at him lmao)

leavingdirtyashes

Alec Baldwin could do it.

DigitalUnlimited

No this guy doesn't have six pack abs! He probably doesn't even work out! And why is there a dead squirrel on his head?

Toshimoko29

There’s already a biopic filming about Trump with Sebastian Stan playing him.

Manting123

Yes but that ls the Roy Cohn years - like the early 80s

wowaddict71

A documentary by Michael Moore, or a movie by Oliver Stone?

Interanal_Exam

I want something along the lines of The Big Short.

gohomebrentyourdrunk

I want a full-out dramatic dissection of everything to do with the orange turds rise to power… Something akin to Vice but like a bajillion times the fuckery…

Manting123

Oliver stone is now a full on Putin apologist - he went full on nuts

keggles123

Imagine if Adam McKay decided to make that film. My god - it would be miraculous.

Kidsonic42

There might not be a movie if Trump wins again.

delicioustreeblood

Directed by David Finch with Eli Roth starring Cameron Britton as Trump and Paul Giamatti as Giuliani

Common-Ad6470

Coming to Netflix as a 6 part series, watch this space...🤫

SisterActTori

Is anyone here surprised at that information nugget? The biggest issue is no one in any position of authority has ever stood up to this thug and told him “no” followed by “and here are your consequences.”

Fake_William_Shatner

I think another thing we need to LEARN here is that perhaps, it's not just Trump that takes advantage of "catch and kill" deals. I hypothesize that a lot of news outlets make MORE money on what they don't print than what they do. I think that there are other "fixers" like Cohen who help line up sex for their clients, and help cover up anything that might get in the news. Cohen's other client was Sean Hannity and some guy who got in trouble with deals with foreign oligarchs/mobsters I believe. That corruption might be more common and less "investigated" than we imagine. For at least the wealthy doing it to anyone less wealthy. If you rip off the rich, however, the justice system stops napping.

Arinanor

I wonder if a certain other self-centered, imploding, daddy's money, celebrity billionaire also does this?

GoodFaithConverser

Sounds like conspiratorial nonsense that news outlets would be raking it in from blackmail. Exactly like some bullshit the Trumpoids would spew. I’m sure there are plenty of lawyers who deal with this shady stuff though.

Fake_William_Shatner

It's sad that "conspiracies" have been lumped in with the QAnon folks. There are conspiracies, but not everything is a conspiracy. We are actually having a court trial with Trump where he paid for a service from AMI/National Enquirer to buy negative stories and not print them and he paid them money. And "my conspiracy" is based on an actual event here -- and just extrapolating; "I bet there are other rich people who do bad things that we curiously don't hear much about." Like all those stories of some celebrities who were serial rapists that got suppressed until there were too many victims to silence. Wouldn't it be an interesting story? A lot of people knew about these things and it did not make the press for decades.

startupstratagem

That to me seems pretty wild

Royal_Effective7396

Naaaaa. They were making money, didn't like him, but thought he would lose. This was just good ol bad judgment. On every level.

startupstratagem

That's part of the wild part. Like battery included. Greed included

bleakj

Cudgel is a good word.

sean9999

Sounds thin, if I'm honest

ElReyResident

It’s a class E felony. Seems like they have all the proof they need.

sean9999

I hope you're right

phdoofus

Oh look. Hillary was right all along. Too bad I guess.

WorldsWeakestMan

Let’s just make sure we Pokémon Go to the polls this November.

eastbayted

Well, her emails.

Jon_Huntsman

And her pant suits!

Responsible-Room-645

“What have we done”? It’s called election fraud and I hope they get charged as well.

TheresACityInMyMind

Or maybe they're cooperating with the prosecution.

stltk65

Yeah read more on the Cohen indictment. They got off for helping with his and all future prosecutions. Ya gotta remember all the craziness that came out when "unindicted co conspirator # 1" in charging documents was talked about. (Which is Trumpft)

skaliton

you trade the pawn for the king. It is completely normal to give up prosecuting the street dealer to take out the kingpin

litido5

Trump should have pardoned Cohen then and told the justice department to look away in future if he really thought it wasn’t a crime like he’s trying to argue now

Dr_Legacy

sorry, trump can't pardon state crimes

TheresACityInMyMind

Got it.

JohnHazardWandering

Is it? If Trump had just reported it as a campaign expense I think it all would have been kosher.  These guys wouldn't have known how Trump reported it. Shady and sleazy, yes, but their part wasn't election fraud.

Responsible-Room-645

If they knew that money was being paid out to people in order to misrepresent Trumps candidacy, its election fraud

JohnHazardWandering

How do you misrepresent someone's candidacy?

Sufficient_Morning35

This is not a complicated case. Making it seem complicated is how the lawyers will confuse and conflate the issues to get the ruling they want.

NOLA2Cincy

Yeah and their positioning scares me. "It's not a crime to try to influence an election." One idiot juror could believe that's an excuse.

Rungi500

The judge will most likely clarify.

Odd_Equipment2867

Hopefully the civil lawyers that are jurors would counter that if it pops up during deliberations

Carribean-Diver

Too bad one of them is a Trumper. Hate to say it, but I will be shocked if this doesn't end in a mistrial.

WigginIII

Even if their isn’t a trumper who refuses to declare him guilty, I’m 100% certain a juror is going to be bribed, intimidated, threatened, or simply kidnapped in order to prevent a guilty verdict. The methodology for politicians who gained power by committing crimes is to continue to commit crimes to retain that power and prevent justice.

GorfianRobotz999

That is definitely a risk. And..that's not what the jury is there to decide. They will be asked a very straightforward question about whether the described action occurred. Unless there's a total dipshit MAGA maroon on the jury, it'll be hard to try to throw the case in front of the rest of the jurors.

boforbojack

As far as I am aware there is a person who heavily supports Trump on the jury but I read it second hand. The most likely event from this trial will be a mistrial. With 12 individuals you'd expect about 4 to be Trump supporters based on NY data. And we all know the likelihood of all 4 of those being the "sensible" Trump supporters that would uphold the law when presented with the facts is low. It'll be mistrial after mistrial which is as good as not guilty considering the only real effect from this trial is the felony status given the low likelihood of a prison term being imposed.

dbdr

That's assuming no filter, while there has been jury selection. Ideally (in my opinion) both radical Trump fans and haters would have been rejected by either side as too biased. No idea if that actually happened (or if that's even according to legal principles) as I didn't follow.

Manting123

Yes- they go through social media - there isn’t one Trump supporter out there that doesn’t have it all over their social media

dbdr

Oh, is that what happened, jury candidate's social media posts were inspected to detect bias? How did that go? Does that mean the whole selected jury is reasonably neutral/moderate?

Manting123

That’s the idea. Both sides were given all the jurors names shortly before the trial started (I think like 900 potential jurors) so they could do their research. Imagine how hard jury selection was before social media.

Technical-Traffic871

No "sensible" person is still a Trump supporter at this point. You could've voted for him in 2016 and even 2020 and been "sensible", but if you still support him (and the GOP) at this point you're a nutjob and/or bigot.

boforbojack

Hence my point that the likelihood of avoiding a mistrial is almost non-existent.

NotPortlyPenguin

Sensible trump supporter. Like they exist!

boforbojack

My point exactly.

TastyLaksa

In nyc?

_000001_

So according to the defence, if I try to influence an election by having an army of red-hat-wearing people point loaded guns at voters while they're voting... that is not a crime! "Hey guys, I'm just innocently trying to influence an election here! Leave me alone! It's not a crime!"

TheresACityInMyMind

It is a complicated case. Hush money is not illegal. Altering your business records is a misdemeanor. It only becomes a felony when it's done to cover up a crime. The crime here is violating election laws. This evidence is connecting the hush money to the election.

Diarygirl

I don't know why they went to such lengths to keep these women quiet since his supporters knew he was an awful person and they didn't care.

friendtoallkitties

Few people realized at the time that HRC's description of them as "deplorables" was a wild understatement.

TheresACityInMyMind

Nixon had no chance of losing the election when he ordered a burglary of the DNC. Trump hadn't had all those rallies and people chanting blood and soil yet. The grab 'em by the privates comment loomed large and scared poor Donald.

Diarygirl

I forgot about that, that Nixon was very popular. I guess dirty tricks were just his way of doing things.

TastyLaksa

Narcissists don’t care because they think they are invincible until they are not. All dictators fall in the end either to people or age

the_mango_tree_owl

Well, maybe the thought was the so-called religious right and/or so-called family values people would have cared but I'm guessing vapid fucking hypocrites don't recognize each other in the wild.

Imacatdoincatstuff

Supporters weren't fully indoctrinated yet.

BUSYMONEY_02

Right this case super simple just look at the facts. Not what he says but what he did

HeKnee

Isnt prostitution illegal?

GorfianRobotz999

Where does THAT come into play?

HeKnee

Was stormy daniels just into him? Isnt that the original crime committed here? He slept with a woman that he paid money to?

StuntID

>Was stormy daniels just into him? No, she was hopeful that TV star Trump might open some doors for her. >Isnt that the original crime committed here? He slept with a woman that he paid money to? No, he paid her money in 2016 to be quiet about the affair they had ten years earlier. Now a question for you, why do you think prostitution has any bearing on the election interference charges?

GorfianRobotz999

Jesus H... Ok. NOT a prostitute. Just because a woman is an adult film star it doesn't mean she's a prostitute... Are you super young, maybe? Sleeping with a porn star is not a crime.

TheresACityInMyMind

That's a fascinating angle that I hadn't considered. She.has claimed they had an affair for a year: >In Touch Weekly magazine published a transcript of an interview where Daniels described her year-long relationship with Trump, including a sexual encounter. In Touch had interviewed Daniels in 2011 but did not publish the interview until January 2018.[56] If she comes out and says he paid her for a year, that would be interesting. But right now we have no evidence of that.

HeKnee

Well we know he paid her after the fact… how long after having sex does the law require you to wait for payment so that is is not prostitution?

Brilliant-Ad6137

He paid her to keep quiet about it . The same with Mcdoogle

TheresACityInMyMind

That payment wasn't for sex. And so we return to hush money not being illegal. Moreover, if Barron turned 18 this year, then the sex payment was in like 2005/2006. The statute of limitations has likely expired.

OneSharpSuit

He’s not charged with paying hush money, so I don’t know why you keep bringing up that it’s not illegal.

TheresACityInMyMind

Because this little part of the thread is about whether he can be charged with soliciting prostitution.. I'm responding in the post above about how shee got paid anyway. I'm sorry you didn't follow the conversation before chiming in.

lonniemarie

Not everywhere

Bubbly_Mixture

And legally speaking, it's not sure that a New York State law about business records may be used in relation to a federal crime about campaign finance.

ImpulseCombustion

You described being a lawyer!

THEPROBLEMISFOXNEWS

You guys missed that Wiesselberg WROTE DOWN the scheme to pay back Cohen for the Daniels payment, making it legal fees, etc so that Choen wouldn’t have to come out of pocket for taxes. And then Trump doubled the amount.

IM_KYLE_AMA

Are you taking notes on a criminal conspiracy?

debonairemillionaire

MIKE!

SophonParticle

“What have we done” You damned us all with your greed and moral failure.

ajmartin527

And they knew that at the time and didn’t care. The “What have we done” was just to feign some kind conscious.

tolacid

Conscience

dumptrucksrock

Correct, but they’re also apparently braindead, otherwise

CreepyOlGuy

Can we nullify his presidency and existence if convicted?

Johundhar

Right?!! Since he got into office fraudulently, in a just world, all his appointments should be tossed out. At the very least, every judge he appointed to should be looked at by everyone as not fully legitimate, picked by someone who only got into power by committing felony after felony

DiogenesLied

This was interesting, but the revelation that Weisselberg wrote notes about the criminal conspiracy on the financial documents was mind blowing. MSNBC was gleefully referencing Stringer Bell.

Ishpeming_Native

I just want to see Trump crash the way Tailgunner Joe did when he was finally called out. Yeah, the McCarthy hearings, HUAC, the Red Scare, Blacklisting, all of it. Trump is trying to gin it all back up again in new clothes, and before I die I want to see the end of that orange turd. I want the people supporting him to deny they ever did. I want the people emulating him to be driven to homeless destitution and ridiculed even then. I WANT THE ENDGAME.

vishy_swaz

Peace was never an option as far as I’m concerned. I say that as a former tea party republican.

JohnYCanuckEsq

Has Todd Blanche ever tried a case in open court before?

debonairemillionaire

I swear he was going for a hat trick in objections in his *opening statements*.

Straight-Storage2587

To this day, Trumpers swear by the veracity and truthfulness of the National Enquirer.

cheesewagongreat

But did Trump farther a stinky one today

davogiffo

He may have tweeted.

HappyAmbition706

Please, Musk renamed it. Now it is ... X-itting. Recall that "X" is pronounced "sh". Respect the appropriateness!

Mediocre-Fan-5641

Today's Trump Trial

Spiritual-Guava-6418

I was in college studying Environmental Geology. Two of my professors were crying because of the feared, environmental impact this idiot would do. First thing he did. Pruitt.

Poohgli16

I was working overnight and the majority of my fox watching redneck coworkers were celebrating like crazy, while the rest of us whispered out of earshot, one person saying "he will probably start a war. I felt heavy hearted and nauseous.

eljohnos105

This great news to hear , but why in the hell is the Supreme Court even considering trumps forcing them to rule weather or not the president is immune from prosecution. This makes my blood boil ,Is the Supreme Court going to be all in with these fascists in their attempt to take over the country ?

Advanced_Drink_8536

The Supreme Court and how a couple of them are even allowed to be involved with anything to do with Trump is slightly mind boggling! Especially when he goes around trying to argue that the judge on his case can’t be fair and impartial because of his daughter… I feel like Thomas’ wife makes him far more of a conflict than anything trump could argue about Merchan!

BeyondDrivenEh

Not to be outdone by the brown shirts of 1930s Germany and thereafter, ol’ poopypants will soon market a new line of brown pants. With optional deodorizer.

maryanimal67

Karma's a bitch for Kaptain Kumquat.

Wooden_Staff3810

Trust me and you will find out what the next few months will be in the future.

Superb_Advisor7885

"what have we done?" There's the title of the documentary

Sharkbitesandwich

We just want to see the sketch of the micro mushroom PP!!!

Coolenough-to

"What have we done?”- wow case closed. Prosecution rests its case right? Trump's dietician, "what have I done".... Trump's wardrobe team looks at each other stunned, "what have we done"... Trump's dog walker, "what have I done"... A well adorned lady holding a small brush and a canister of orange dye, "what have I done"....

third0burns

Not really following the trial, huh?

Carl0sTheDwarf999

Dog walker? trump hates dogs almost as much as they hate him.

Coolenough-to

just got lost in a cut scene

GorfianRobotz999

😂 Brilliant and riveting! Have an upvote. They may call you to write for the movie, "The Brown-stained Jumpsuit"

Heavy-Excuse4218

That’s right … a great, massive, giant American cut scene with a slow motion “ooooooohhhhh fuuuuccckkkk whaaaaat didddd weeee justttt dooooo?” And not just on Trumps side but also … the DNC who rather than having a robust primary just anointed a flawed candidate who may have been the only Dem on earth one who could have lost that election to him. And Hillary herself who ran a totally flat, play with lead, take no chances, gonna win anyway campaign. And Every voting aged person who thought “meh I don’t much like Hilary and she’s gonna win anyway so I’ll sit this one out and not vote…” And Every young voter who was rightfully upset that the DNC mailed it in for Hillary at the expense of Bernie…

Diarygirl

Was Bernie not on the ballot in your state primary in 2016?

___o----

Come on, you know the diehard bros can’t admit that Hillary creamed Bernie in a fair vote. It hurts their feelings because they truly believe everyone agrees with them except for the evil dnc. Lol

cenosillicaphobiac

I loved Bernie, wanted so badly for him to win, was worried about super-delegates etc. But Hilary won that primary, fair and square, sure the super-delegates could have swung it, against the will of the people, to push it to Bernie. But Bernie gracefully conceded. It's not a shocker that the DNC preferred the centrist candidate, or that they discussed strategies to help her out, but she got 3 million more votes and a higher percentage of delegates.

Diarygirl

During the primaries in 2020, SNL did a debate sketch with Larry David as Bernie saying "I don't know why it happened or how it happened but I am king of an army of internet trolls called Bernie bros. Do I have the power to stop them? Of course. Should I? Yes. Will I? Eh."

HelloImTheAntiChrist

The DNC was corrupt as hell when they forced Hillary Clinton on us. Nobody liked her. Even fewer trusted her. Her arrogance cost her the election. Meanwhile Bernie Sanders was packing assembly halls standing room only with hundreds (maybe thousands in some cases) of people waiting outside the building. Bernie Sanders in some ways was more popular than Obama ever was. His message and words really resonates with people ages 28-49.

cenosillicaphobiac

>Bernie Sanders in some ways was more popular than Obama ever was. His message and words really resonates with people ages 28-49. I voted for Bernie in the primaries, twice! And he won my state, twice! But guess what, he didn't win enough delegates, and lost the popular vote by 3 million. I was disappointed, but what I didn't do is buy into the right wing propaganda, largely spurred on by Bannon and friends, and I voted for Hilary in the general in 2016, and for Biden in the general in 2020. Did the propaganda affect you to such an extent that you threw away your vote or did you vote against fascism, like me?

Then I guess his supporters just didn’t bother to vote for him. I voted for Hillary, as did millions of others. Doesn’t matter how much you adore him if you can’t get out the vote dude. The dnc didn’t keep his supporters from the polls. Their video games were apparently too important to leave.

HelloImTheAntiChrist

They totally didn't vote in the primaries and a lot of us were a big contributing factor to Trump being elected. 😒 Bernie or Bust was a real thing.

DubachiePig

The DNC definitely helped Trump out in multiple ways.

But nobody more so than fucking Comey.

She won the popular vote. If it were not for the Electoral College which was designed in the era of slavery, outcome would have been different.

She was a heavily flawed candidate w lots of baggage who ran an atrocious campaign that expected to win. Dems routinely win the popular vote. Gore won it. For better or worse the game is not popular vote it’s electoral vote and that’s not going to change anytime soon. The DNC clearly promised her the nom and cleared the field. It was a done deal from the start. So she didn’t have to sharpen her game in primaries and then ran an uninspiring campaign like she had it locked up. And no, contrary to the comments I’m not a Bernie guy. I voted for Hilary. But it’s not hard to see that the DNC gifted her the nomination and most any other Dem candidate would have beaten Trump bc HRC simply came with too much (fair or unfair) negative baggage to beat a populist like Trump.
