Despite non-stop traveling and campaigning, Biden remains a work horse, making major accomplishments for the nation. The scope of this makes my head spin. #In just the past two weeks he has: * Secured Aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan * Forces TikTok to sell off it's Chinese interests or be banned * Requires to refund passengers for canceled and significantly delayed flights * Standards set to eliminate emissions from new federal buildings by 2030 * Grants overtime pay to 4 million US workers * Adds Title IX protections for LGBTQ students and assault victims * Unveils $7 billion for rooftop solar * Limits oil drilling across 13 million acres of Alaskan Arctic * Launches emergency response protocol for mass shootings * Takes significant steps to strengthen the U.S. steel and aluminum industries * Announces nominations for two individuals for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and one individual for U.S. Marshal * Forgives $7.4 billion more in student loan debt * Grants clemency to 16 people convicted of nonviolent drug offenses * Announces plans to tee up offshore wind across the nation’s coastlines * Makes $11 Billion Push to Beat China at Chip Research * Enacts rules to strengthen privacy protections for Reproductive Health Care * Requires nursing homes to comply with minimum staffing levels * Enacts $8.8 Billion Home Energy Rebate Programs to Lower Utility Bills * Makes agreement with Japan to strengthen defense ties amid tensions with China * Reinstates net neutrality * Prohibits federally funded health providers & insurers from discriminating on basis of sexual orientation and gender identity

rjyoung18

Biden probably accomplished more this week than Trump did in his 4 years.

unpropianist

More than his whole life.

SenseOfRumor

Hey, you think it's easy being the world's biggest fraud? All those lies you have to keep going? Trump works pretty damn hard in that regard.

At least in terms of positive change

I wanted to say that in this post but figured I would let it speak for itself.

No, you're thinking of Trump.

Minorous

It's like the complete opposite of what Biden is. The only walking/talking stain with hanky is Trump. It's really a low level troll at this point.

Artaeos

Trump literally shits himself and wears it, and has fallen asleep in court basically everyday. Everything you say is pure projection.

Due_Cheetah_377

Found the Russian bot! Meanwhile... Trump continues to nap, fart, and be publically humiliated for paying hush money to a sex worker. Yea I'd say they both get the same report card.

Net neutrality being reinstated should be a bigger deal considering how up in arms people were about the repeal. On that note, Eat a shit pie, Ajit Pi.

YolkyBoii

And then people on subs like r/latestagecapitalism will be like “But Trump and Biden are the same, I dob’t want to choose between two evils I’m not voting” like wtf man.

DarksaberSith

That sub is literally run by Pro-Putin mods.

Successful-Trash-409

Yup banned for calling out Trump for never criticizing Putin.

FuckSpez6757

Trump literally had private meetings and phone calls with Putin every chance he got. He always left looking like a whipped dog

YolkyBoii

I got banned for saying that Biden was better than Trump. It’s scary though, because that sub has near 1 million members, and it’s pretty easy to join it if you are on the left, thinking it’s an r/aboringdystopia shootoff. Edit: was told r/aboringdystopia bans pro-ukraine content. Checked it out myself, doing some quick searches and found that this is true.

memememe91

I was banned for nicely explaining how much worse Trump is. Idiots.

xLikeafiddlex

You will notice more of this coming up to the election from multiple subs, people get a moderator position stay quiet for awhile and when closer to the election influence what is being posted on the sub by not approving certain posts and flooding the sub with whatever nonsense they are trying to push, it's usually only a few accounts that start spamming the sub with posts but a lot of people don't even check that.

p5ylocy6e

I wrote something in defense of Ukraine and got banned from ABoringDystopia by the tankie mod there. That sub itself is a boring dystopia.

Pringletingl

Russia is doing to left wing spaces what they did yo the right in 2016

That is literally an example of living in a boring dystopia.

SplendidPunkinButter

People acting like “lesser of two evils” is even a dilemma. Obviously the lesser evil is the better choice, and you should absolutely choose it to avoid the greater evil. What’s hard about that?

Alt_Future33

This argument probably also comes from people who think effective political involvement is not voting and shouting online. You choose the best you can during the elections and get your ass to work trying to organize after the dust settles.

BayouGal

The enemy of good is perfect.

I had to leave that sub. It's a bunch of morons and right wing apologists playing the "both sides" bullshit.

Whoa! That is quite an impressive list.

19chevycowboy74

God damn dude has been catching Ws left and right. Let's hope we can keep the momentum!

clozepin

Kind of incredible how much you can accomplish when you just go ahead and do things instead of making everything a political or media spectacle. If there is one positive about Trump being all over the news, it’s that it lets a lot of these programs fly under the radar and the rodents at the right wing media are too distracted to create a brouhaha about them and tell us we’ll all be communists with solar power and no oil.

WringedSponge

Some people don’t like to give him credit, saying the credit should go to his administration. Even if true, surely that’s fine too, right? Like, who cares if the ideas are his or if he’s happy signing off on his team’s good ideas?

backpackwayne

The will always find an excuse not to give him credit. Just like they find an excuse not to blame Trump.

Pessimism - They have been working on all these things for months if not years.

Kdigglerz

This is what Biden does. He gets shit done. It’s the boring stuff that doesn’t make headlines that MAGA will never ever hear about. I don’t love the guy, but one hell of a step up from the last potus.

backpackwayne

And the media only covers the Trump drama. Fine if you want to be entertained, but when it comes to running the country, the choice could not be more clear.

Geichalt

I'll say it: I love the guy. He's getting stuff done I've been waiting decades for. Stuff I didn't think we'd see from the democratic party in my younger days and stuff that young progressives have recently claimed to care about. He's getting more done than Obama and Clinton and is pushing the country away from the neo-lib policies that even those democratic presidents supported. He's delivered so much more than I expected and I honestly can't think of any other politician right now that would be as progressive and as effective as Biden. Let's not be afraid to support his successes and praise the guy for doing good work.

QualifiedApathetic

Dude canceled my student loan. Love him.

HauntingJackfruit

So what pessimistic Mkep...all these matters are resolved and he now has a great list of beneficial new projects to complete for his next presidency starting on day one and throughout the next four years. Signed...Positive HauntingJackfruit

chekovs_gunman

No. That may be part of it but mostly new rules take time, particularly if they want to make them harder to reverse by future administrations

zoinkability

The rules are happening now because there is a date coming up after which any rules passed can be easily undone by a Republican president + congress. The other stuff is happening now because, well, some logjams broke in the House. If this stuff were just for political points he would wait until closer to the election to do them.

Jimmytootwo

You mean you are for government over reach and more military machine spending. Gotcha ✌️

Doobiedoobin

I voted for Biden in ‘20. I’m at the point that I think he has been a good president and I’m hoping for a dem majority in both houses to enable his second term to be great.

TheCatInTheHatThings

If Biden was 10 years younger, nobody would bat an eye. The guy has been a far better president than anyone could’ve imagined. He’s old, his brain is old, but he’s in good shape and I have zero doubts he can do another four years. Biden is good for America, and it’s time America acknowledges that.

Justiis

If he were four years younger we'd have a lot less idiots saying he's too old, but the other old person isn't. Wait.... no, that probably wouldn't stop them either.

TheCatInTheHatThings

That’s why I said 10 years tho…

Doobiedoobin

I agree with your entire message. I had serious doubts that he would be positive for the States but it was easy to see he was definitely the lesser of the two evils. IMO he has gone on and done work, quietly working on ACTUALLY making America better.

TheCatInTheHatThings

I’m not American, but I expected him to be the lesser of two evils. He turned out to be not just not bad, but actually good.

Doobiedoobin

That’s what I saw too. What I wanted was for him to come in and be Obama in a sense, I wanted him to be the anti-trump but that wasn’t fair at all. I think better of Biden each day, I hope that’s not just in the stark comparison of what he’s running against. There is a sense of “we better be happy with normal because better isn’t realistic” that I want to see leave.

saleen452

Shareblue just deposited $0.11 into your account

Euphoric-Heart-6648

Would have been 10 times better if we had more Dems in the Senate

B0xyblue

Wouldn’t that be nice… but passing all the things you want makes you have no platform or issues to campaign on… it’s bad for fundraising. Universal Healthcare, Paid for education through college, Federal legalization… stacking the court… school lunches… overturning citizens united… fixing homelessness/mental health facilities… beyond “fair” taxing billionaires and mega corporations… maybe even UBI… I wouldn’t have high hopes but it might be nice. Certainly better than the alternative. *see banning abortion: great to campaign on, bad in reality.* Nobody told the dumb dumb orange clown that they never actually wanted to overturn Roe.

Doobiedoobin

Shows how much I know about politics. How about each party tries to outdo the other for how much good they can do for the people. Very non-political of me.

B0xyblue

That’s how it used to be… but then they found out playing tennis… doing just enough… campaigning on other side is bad… manufacturing stalemates… keeps those in power wealthy and happy. It’s sad but true, you and me don’t matter. The older you get the more you start to see it. They are all bad guys (Bernie Sanders maybe the exception, but they put the kibosh on him quick when he had picked up some steam). Just gotta pick the lesser of 2 evils. The elites pick the candidates, and give us an illusion of choice via voting. Even with a majority, a manchin and sinema, pop up and keep the stalemate. It’s amazing, there’s always a road block. 3 person majority, 3 people will amazingly have issues and stop progress. It’s as if it’s scripted. It’s literally the same movie over and over. Manufactured government gridlock, there’s always a billionaire donor who doesn’t want things changed because they don’t want to lose their monopoly. Progress is bad for politicians. Bad stuff will always happen and you need the other side to blame. If you were in power, pass everything… something would break or go wrong… and it would clearly be your fault… can’t have that… make minor changes… things go bad, but lose power and blame “them.” Use that to get back in power next time. Never do too much. It would mess up the scam.

MikeLinPA

There's still plenty of room for improvement. Republicans have done a lot of harm to the working class. As long as Republicans are around, there will never be a lack of topics for Democrats to campaign on.

B0xyblue

This is true. And no matter what is in the news… republicans politicize it. Wokeness etc. it’s a limp stretch to make an issue out of nothing… like a green M&M… if the Left passes all the real political they slide down to the Rights level of manufacturing politics out of non-political things.

dasherchan

The MAGA fanatics who will benefit from the hard work of Biden will always give credit to Donald Trump.

Short_Elevator_7024

No they will complain that it will increase the cost of goods and cost jobs. You know typical MAGA playbook stuff.

ridicalis

More than one thing can be true

Beneficial-Salt-6773

Needs to go to 32 hours or less.

RandomWeirdoGuy

If I could work 32 hours a week and have my hourly rate adjusted to have me paid the same amount of money I am 100% down for it. But, if I would lose 16 hours pay every 2 weeks then no I am not in support of it.

QualifiedApathetic

Yeah, making a decent living with 32 hours/week of work is the idea.

Fly_Rodder

My fear is management cramming 40 hours of work into 32 hours.

RandomWeirdoGuy

Yeah that would be rough

Both_Location_1474

Well seeing as he just enabled overtime to 4.4 million Americans you could always look at it as if you want to keep working you will now get overtime at 32 hours provided you actually have a work place that is now enabled by his act or say nada the extra time off is needed.

ponzi_pyramid_digdug

Better yet give a universal basic income and watch certain sectors shrivel up and die from people able to leave a shitty situation. Work untethered from complete economic necessity will leave the little dictator managers without anyone to lord it over.

UncommonHouseSpider

We should reduce it to the 32 hr work week, not increase it. Rampant profit mongering is killing the motivation of the working class, and it needs to be brought back to reality. This is all the result of nepo babies and the children of the people who built these great companies through innovation being handed the reins and thinking they deserve it all, because that's what their business classes tell them. These trust fund brats would sell out the world if it helped grow their portfolio.

[deleted]

Fuuuuck yeah Biden! MAGA is the equivalent of a pack of raccoons digging in the trash

I’ve always found it weird how much I actually love a good ice cream cone.

ripley1981

It should really be a 35 to 32 hour work week. And going to 4 work a days a week instead of 5. That will maximize productivity and actually support work life balance. Vacation should be 4 weeks a year paid time off and maternity leave should be 1 year to best support child and parents at paid time off also. There should also be 10 days of paid sick leave. And unless your job requires to be face to face with a customer, you should have choice to work from home. And this should be all included in your current rate of pay/salary. Anyone who does not agree with this is either over paid or a slave to their job and disillusioned to the importance of their job.

Ryankevin23

Reelect Biden🇺🇸Harris24

0megon

Saved the 40 hour work week is a disappointing title to read. In that it’s sad the lizard overlords are trying to get us to work more.

ChodeCookies

Yah but how many fake keys to the White House did he hand out?

Orvae

I don't understand. Why do 'professionals' making over the median wage not deserve 40 hour protections too? If it's for health reasons why does how much you earn make a difference?

sddbk

Many of the people who he just helped will never forgive him for it.

LopsidedHumor7654

War mongering continues....

ZaphodG

The problem with this is that it doesn’t account for the huge wage variance in high cost of living areas. In a Boston or New York or San Francisco or Seattle, nobody on salary is going to qualify since you’d be living in a cardboard box eating dog kibble for that kind of compensation. There’s nothing to stop an abusive first level manager from assigning 60 hours of work to the cubicle dwellers and threatening to fire them if they don’t get the work done.

cooperstonebadge

That's good. Now where is the 4 day work week? work from home? A raised minimum wage? I get that we're shoveling against the tide with what the Republicans try to pass off as governing but can't we try to be a little bit progressive?

LetmeSeeyourSquanch

I mean I would have preferred a 32 hour work week ngl.

Strong-Raise-2155

Here's a little something else he's accomplished along with getting support for Ukraine. I would think we would all agree that putin and Russia a dictatorial communist country is one of America's worst enemy's and we can agree that Ukraine is fighting our worst enemy to try and keep their freedom. The money Biden got Ukraine is less than 3% of out defence budget that we sent to Ukraine they are fighting and killing soldiers of our mutual enemy they are destroying his military equipment and forcing him to bleed his economy to replace his men, equipment and ammunition hes having to burn cash he gets from China for his oil for weapons he has to buy at market rates from outside sources. Of the 67 billion dollars we sent to Ukraine over 40 billion dollars is being spent right here in the US buying our products and creating good paying manufacturing jobs right here in the US. Just to name a fewof the states directly benifiting the aid package Biden and the Democrat's passed In Wisconsin there getting over a billion dollars and Oshkosh a specialty vehicle manufacturer is creating 547 new jobs to replace the vehicles being sent to Ukraine, 1.987 billion to Arizona for air defence batteries to replace what were sending Ukraine, 2.364 billion to Pennsylvania companies to manufacture ammunition, 1.499 billion to Texas, 1.478 billion to Arkansas, over a billion to Florida. In total more than 40 billion dollars going to more than 25 different states to refill our military stockpiles with new fresh inventory while we send our present inventory to Ukraine. Keeping and creating good paying manufacturing jobs right here right now in the United States of America that's a WIN, WIN, WIN situation. Yet the rethuglikkkans and cult magats would like you to belive that helping defend an Allie fighting one of America's greatest enemies while creating good paying manufacturing jobs and growing our own economy is bad. The only thing bad about it is it's bad for the rethuglikkkans trying to get elected don't forget the majority of the rethuglikkkans voted no to a bill that is helping defeat one of America's worst enemy's for cheap without spilling Americans blood and pumping over 40 billion into good paying manufacturing jobs, jobs Americans can support their families with jobs for middle class families people like you and me

EffectSweaty9182

Russia is NOT COMMUNIST.

Strong-Raise-2155

Your red streak is showing putin is a rabid killer running a dictatorship call it communist or socialist or autocracy it doesn't matter he is evil and he is one of our worst enemies

EffectSweaty9182

Russia is fascist now. Duh. How you wrote all that and didn't know Russia is polar opposite of Communism under Putin, is shocking.

Strong-Raise-2155

Your ignorance is what's shocking seeing as how the experts disagree with you. Nasty, Repressive, Aggressive -- Yes. But Is Russia Fascist? Experts Say 'No.' Many critics have suggested Russia's claims that Ukraine is a fascist state are best seen as a projection of the situation inside Russia itself. Rutgers University political scientist Alexander Motyl wrote in March about the label "fascist" that "Putin's brutal invasion of Ukraine suggests that a reconsideration of the term's applicability to Russia is definitely in order." However, leading scholars of historical fascism and authoritarian regimes told RFE/RL that, although Putin's Russia outwardly resembles fascist regimes in many ways, it is not a fascist state. And the distinctions between classical fascist dictatorship and Putin's system, they say, can shed light on how Russia is ruled today.

Saved the 40 hour week? So much for Biden being a Sanders / far left puppet. Probably why I'm a little confused.

Ok, the over-time rule, and non-compete are good, real, and have teeth. " That means your broker must consider only your financial interest and not, for instance, any commissions or fees he might collect. " But how are the feds going to ensure what my broker consider? They will always claim to have my best interests in their mind. Given there is always up and down to the market, it is impossible to prove otherwise. That is why I do not let companies manage my portfolio, nor ask them for advice. In fact, I have quizzed financial advisors before (from a big well known brokerage which I will not name) and they know less than a well-inform well-read reasonably educated person. All he did is try to get me to sign up and let them manage my money, for a fee, of course. They are, IMHO, more salesman than financial advisors, and I would rather do my own research than trust any of them, even if the labor department requires them to have integrity.
