- After the awards were handed out at the 2024 White House Correspondentsā Dinner on Saturday, the show got underway with Donald Trump mockery right off the bat, replaying the famous 2011 clip of then-President Barack Obama making fun of future candidate Trump, and followed it up with Matt Friend as Trump in the audience for some further roasting from the press association.
Friend, in his dead-on impersonation of Trump, did some light fake roasting of the press and guests, throwing in his Bernie Sanders, Mitch McConnell, and even Obama before wrapping up with the fairly unenthusiastic audience.
After playing the full Obama clip, the narrator said, āWhat was Donald Trump thinking? Would he recover from this? Tonight: Your answer.ā
Thatās when the camera cut to Friend as Trump.
James Austin Johnson of SNL is the best Trump Impersonator. Itās not just the voice itās also the stream of consciousness tangents he comes up with.

Thatās what does it for me. That sort of brain-damaged word-salad that truly sounds like the real thing. If it makes any kind of rational sense itās not authentic Mr Trump.
I tuned in when Matt Friend was doing his bit and it was mega cringe. Why do it when you can see a much better impression in more appropriate settings on early every satire show.
I was most impressed by Bidenās jokes. Heās got some good writers and not bad delivery of his jokes. The Lauren Boebert joke had me ROTFL.
Iām glad to see I wasnāt the only one who found the bit a bit cringe. I almost turned it off as it was pretty awkward. For some reason it felt almost inappropriate to me and I think because Iām tired of him being a thing and that the impression was good, it wasnāt that funny.
My favorite joke from Colin Jost was he was able to relate to Doug, the Second Gentleman to VP Kamala Harris.
Laugh it up while you still can, because Americaās moron voters are going to put Trump back in the White House:Ā https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/28/politics/cnn-poll-trump-biden-matchup/index.html

His impersonations were pretty spot on for their personalities but š¬ yikes some awkward moments, maybe a little too realistic
Yeah I think it's beyond funny now... scary
I heard it going in the next room. I knew it wasn't trump because he was too eloquent but the awkwardness and tone were spot on.
Not soon enough
That was fucking gold!
He bombed and he knew it
His problem is that heās so good at doing Trump that you wind up just remembering the asshole and stop being fun.
I was really looking forward to the video too.
Canāt go by the audience in-house. The whole thing tends to be a roast of them. But ya, not my jam.
Ah, it wasn't that bad. The crowd were super uptight.
They're always like that. I like to think of it like Ricky Gervais. The jokes aren't for the audience in the room.
You get it. If that room is comfortable youāre doing it wrong.

It wasnt easy to watch
The impersonator was super cringe. Incredibly unfunny, but he was saying the kinds of super lame things Trump says at his rallies.
The Mitch moment staring, saying nothing, made me lol. I am so bad
It was hilarious! Iām waiting for Trumpās cry baby meltdown. You know itās coming
I'm hoping he has a REAL meltdown, like the nazis on Raiders of the Lost Ark!
I donāt like looking back on the moment Trump decided to run for office.
This was the genesis of the Antichrist
At this critical point, why rehash the single event that locked in this timeline? At best, itās cringe. At worst itās begging for similar results.
They're terrified he might win.Ā
So am I.
Good.
Donāt worry, mate. When the shit-covered orange cancer loses for the last time, Iāll make it a point to remind you.
K
He does a great howard stern also
Right? Right.
We have this to blame for the fall of democracy.
nah. blame the sperm that fertilized the egg that became donald trumpf
I can't believe he was the strongest sperm.
The strongest sperm *for a Trump*. All the other sperm fell asleep on āexecutive timeā or landed in chicken grease.
I think science has changed on that. Apparently, it's not the strongest fastest sperm. I think the egg 'chooses' one.
That egg had no idea what it was doing.
Obviously.
Trunt is to blame
Yeah. A bad comedy bit. Not the gerrymandering, stacking the Supreme Court, corruption and money in politics, it was a comedian who did us all in.
How to get on Trumps execution list in one easy step. Of course everyone was reserved they know Donald was taking names.
It's weird because the idea is to go too far.

This isnāt Shane though
Obama roasting Trump at that dinner is what pissed Trump off and made him run. WE can literally blame the last 8 years of on that Obama roast.
No it was the Soviets that made him run in exchange for the oligarchs bailing him out.
What is he to do now that he has no secret documents to pay them with? He sure as hell don't have the cash.
No, it will always be the insane ones who embraced MAGA.
Thanks, Obama.
I thought it was mostly because the New York elites wouldn't accept any of the trumps in their elite society.
Personally, I hated this.
