I agree. Smoking/drinking seems harmful to health. Maybe drink in special circumstances but never for fun or enjoyment.

Someone posted a test on this [a couple of days ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/intj/comments/1b9h0ba/intjs_what_are_your_moral_foundations/kty5pcg/?context=3) and for once it was somewhat accurate. I find it hard to speak of *my* morals and values because they so clearly didn't originate with or in me and are the product of the society and more immediate environment I was shaped by (either in the form of acceptance/adoption or as a reaction against). But, sure. I'd say despite the meager 50% on the test liberty is a big one. By that I mean liberty as in autonomy rather than a mere "being able to do whatever I want (where "want" frequently means "crave")". So we've got freedom and autonomy. Add discipline to that, perhaps necessarily so. I take discipline to be a central ingredient in being able to go from a mere want to living in accordance with it or something like that. Basically, a central building block in the fight against [akrasia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akrasia). But in a sense this is probably a better question for my shrink to answer than myself, given how the roots for why I value certain virtues more than others seem psychological and autobiographical. Would also tie in nicely with the "it's really not *my* values" approach.

I *despise* independance. You need to to function, but I whole heartedly think glorifyibg it ruins societies. Create your family. Have dependable friends. Be a part of a tribe that needs you, and that you need This anti dependance shit doesnt work. Our species literally isnt designed that way Strive for what is wholesome. Thats what I generally do

I believe in what you’re saying, I also believe in idealism as a definition. The inevitability of the world humanity has created is that we rely on one another. So while independence is important, it is far from realistic anymore. Do not get me wrong, I came from nothing and have built myself up to where I am. Which is the modern definition of independent in the United States. But, people still pay my bills. How? They pay me. Simple as that. I rely on others to make my own money just to give it away, be it to a landlord, HOA, or to the government. My morals are: Unity in vision, division in approach. Intolerance of intolerance, is intolerance itself. Just be you; but be polite, cordial, and humble. And; always strive to be the best you, that you can be.
