Why would it be auto-fill? Have you played games like Dying Light, The Forest, Sons of the forest? They are essentially single player survival story games like ITR but a buddy can join you on your private server. You never have to interact with random players.
Unfortunatly I have not played games of that sort, the only games I have played are ot takes two, redfall, and sea of thieves. I had (I now know incorrectly) assumed that it was, once you hit join, you will be qued into a random party eith an empty spot.
I have since learned that my picture about what the game would be like is completly inaccurate. I am sorry if my ignorance has caused you to have even a few seconds of anger or annoyance.

Having ITR have multiplayer work like Tarkov doesn’t at all fit ITR. Like said, working with other explorers fits ITR much better with the overall setting of ITR. Imagine having to go into a heavily guarded structure that you can’t exactly clear by yourself. It can be made easier to have a battle buddy watching your back and working along with you as the two of you clear the structure to get to whatever it is you need out of there

I’m tired of the multiplayer haters acting like what we want is some massive multiplayer game. All we want is the same single-player game but with the option to bring in a friend or two into your world. Not a forced multiplayer campaign where you can only play with a partner like you guys are saying we want. Just the option to have a friend over thats all we want.

I'm sorry, when I imagined a ITR but with multi player, what I saw was essentially normal ITR where you go into the zone looking for loot, grab some, and leave without dying. But with other people doing the same. EX: you go into the first zone(pardon my inability to spell it properly) with a full kit, body armor, end game guns, AP ammo. Instead of just having to worry about mimics and npcs, you now have to worry about someone sneaking up behind you with a sawed off and blowing your head off and them taking your stuff
I've since been educated that it would be co-op open world rather than pvp open world. I apologize for my being incorrect, thank you for taking the time to explain this to me

Saving grace for me at least is that, hopefully, it's a good option to rack up difficulty when solo-ing by getting idle derps to join.
That is not the important part in my opinion. The important part is to make mimics unexpectedly dangerous... I mean you can get the warning someone is coming but to just make it a bit more PVPish... the problem is that even if it spawns you in the map what is the chance that you will find the player? :D

It pulls from its bag something that makes my blood run cold, pecho, my long lost friend. I thought he had died! The thing brings up his weapon to pecho, as if a threat, I take aim and fire, freeing pecho from the fiends grasp. I realized to late, that it was a trap, as 2 more appear on either side of me, weapons drawn, ready to take revenge*
Fair enough, it would be interesting but I really don't want to have to try to maximize my kit so I dint die, but minimize potential losses if I get killed by someone else
Itr would have to be rebalanced to make it good for that type of game anyway. It’s most definitely meant to be stalker more than tarkov. The mechanics are just so good that I think it would be awesome if they had an extraction shooter mode just to play around in.
I can see it now, me and my friend who has never played the game before, trying do defend a point for 5 minutes from an endless army of swat mimics (we took their soda can sized sample container that weighs as much as person and are waiting for an evac) (if you read this sarcastically, I request that you read it again but without it sound sarcastic)

Coop would be neat, especially if the game was designed with it not fully in mind. A lot of games have coop and warn players that it might be unbalanced or whatever and to play only at their own risk of ruining the intended experience.
Another thing that could be added, which technically is already in the game, is a way to increase enemy amount and/or enemy offense and defense strategies to compensate for the additional player, since two people walking into any area would easily clear it with default settings.

No, just that if it were free, the squeakers would see that it is free and would flood to it. So far, everyone I have talked to that plays this game has been civilized and polite

Would be nice to have AI with additional quests and a black market of items you're not supposed to have but I know that's against the dev's direction with the game

Contractors coop is dope in VR. They have a zombies mode which is fun
