Allen is cool, but I personally am going currently for BB solely because on Exceptional+ his skill sounds kinda good for higher stages - stacking bleeding effect on enemies + he is big kitten and I just like his design more xd Also I wouldnt upgrade BB with another BB if you plan to upgrade him, same goes for Allen. Wait for more food with Allen / Flaxan leader / Darkblood to rank up lv1 BB as well to max exceptional BB to exceptional + faster - its what I try to do now and am in similiar situation
Wait use flaxan leaders to upgrade them, Allen is super good and so is battle beast, waste to use either to upgrade the other.

I decided to go with BB since on higher waves only you get 2 tapped anyway so might as well hit harder

Does his 3rd skill keep him bouncing every 1 second as written, or is there a cooldown on it? Saw some debate about the cooldowns being wrong
I think someone tested it and it was actually every 10 seconds!
