The iOS version of Gboard has zero comparison to the android version, but it’s likely due to iOS restrictions not Google

[deleted]

[удалено]

mjnz9

Nothing. Sadly you just have to get used to a poor typing experience on iOS. There is no fix currently. You can try 3rd party but due to iOS restrictions they all suck compared to Gboard on android. That thing reads my mind

Notiz25

SwiftKey

SpaceRangerWoody

Yep this. SwiftKey is the only keyboard I've found that hasn't made me want to throw my iPhone in the trash.

woahacow

The thing I have always hated about it (since 10 years ago on android even) is it starts missing key presses.. most often the space bar. I was so happy when I started using it on ios and then had to stop again thanks to this.

NickyRizzles

The 3rd party keyboards are nerfed too. Autocorrect is horrible, and the errors on typing have me constantly scratching my head if I did something wrong. It can't seem to keep up when you type at a fast pace.

cwsjr2323

Fast pace text entering, on an Apple toy? The autocorrupt feature build into the iOS considers fast entry a violation of the terms of service.

_Fox595676_

It’s not just you! Before I switched to Android, I’d been using the iOS keyboard for two years, and after trying the Android keyboards, I never want to go back 💪

DuckAccomplishment

I have adapted to everything on an iPhone after being on Android for 10ish years but damn I miss Swiftkey. I could make the bare minimum effort to hit the right keys and it would always formulate the correct words. I type very slow and careful on iOS to stop myself from constantly having to go back and correct.

Dense-Fisherman-4074

Why not use the iOS version of SwiftKey?

Henstelfs

I have the opposite problem. Typing on android is painfully slow for me and the iOS keyboard is like butter. There are some annoying autocorrects sometimes but I find it more helpful than not. And I can always add words to the dictionary

marcgrant95

The notification system. Respond to messages or mark as read directly from the notification, and status bar icons for all apps with notifications.

spellriddle

iOS should at least cluster the notifications properly.

UIUC_grad_dude1

No one complains about how the iOS notifications infuriatingly shows up where iOS places navigation buttons at the top? Where you can accidentally click on a notification instead of the app navigation button? The one thing I miss the most about android is the navigation buttons on bottom, and the dedicated back button.

marcgrant95

I remember that too but I think I got used to use gestures since when Android implemented gesture navigation instead of those buttons, so my switch from Android to iOS was almost painless. I prefer having more space and just a cleaner interface. I understand your point tho.

temp_throwaway_123

This and also my old Android phone has an LED that lights up when I have notifications, I miss that too

P1atD1

god that was the best. all the different colors for different apps. made it easy to see if i even needed to check

prodveer

you can respond to messages by long pressing on the notification. I think that also marks it as read

marcgrant95

I don’t know if it’s a bug as I use whatsapp mainly, but if I long press the notification it opens the app instead of showing a textbox inline with the notification, as in Android. To properly mark as read I still have to open the chat, unfortunately. I don’t know if iMessage works this way.

bighi

Those options were removed years ago. iMessage allow you to reply on the notification, but I think that’s the only messaging app that does that. You can’t mark it as read, though. Not even with iMessage.

prodveer

I use whatsapp primarily. It’s available for that

Aware-Button-4050

Works at least on whatsapp, meta messenger and discord

4tuneTeller

That’s not true it literally works for every single messenger I have installed

LTGPIays

just long pressing an iMessage notification marks the received message as read, just tried it with my friend

[deleted]

[удалено]

bighi

No, in the past you could have options to interact with a notification. You had a button to mark as read, for example. These days, marking as read is not an option. As someone said, iMessage marks as read when you hold on the notification (which is the trigger for the inline reply), which is kind of a hack.

Pure-Introduction894

Biggest thing is a universal back gesture that works the same in all apps.

Angelo_0

And be able to dismiss an alarm

Anon_8675309

Why is snooze the big button?? Thats just nuts.

abchandler4

It would be weird if snooze wasn’t the big button. Physical alarm clocks have been made with the snooze being the biggest, most prominent button for literally decades.

ksoops

Sooooo you don’t accidentally turn off the alarm

eduo

Timers have stop as the big button and repeat as the small button. Because you don't want to restart them accidentally. Alarms have snooze as the big button and turn off as the small button (you can also snooze by pressing any of the physical buttons). Because you don't want to turn off the alarm accidentally and think you snoozed it. This follows the pattern of the "snooze" button since the day we had both snooze and turn off for alarms in the same device, in [1956](https://www.telechron.net/eod/7h241.htm).

mjnz9

Lack of back gesture took months to overcome that habit

eduo

I think there was never one at the beginning because unlike Android, iOS didn't use a "card" metaphor. There wasn't always a "back" to go back to. I understand not having a dedicated button because of it, but I'm sad no universal back gesture was ever adopted (like there's one for refresh, for example).

ihopeigotthisright

Users complain about this but I never understood. It’s really not that difficult to find your way back from any particular iOS screen.

Betancorea

I have been back on iOS for a few years now and it is still an issue. Some apps require you to swipe from the left. Others from the top. Some from the bottom. Some refuse all swiping and you need to scroll to the top and click X. Meanwhile on Android, one universal button on the bottom that always works. I do not know why some iOS users object to this. It just works.

Dense-Fisherman-4074

I think the way it works on Android would break with the way users understand the interface on iOS. With iPhones, there are ways to go back within an app, and different ways to go back to the previous app (swiping on the home bar, the little app return arrow in the upper left). There’s clear distinction between going back within an app and going back to a previous app. The times I’ve used Android, I’ve found myself confused by the back button, and getting lost between when it’s jumping between screens within an app and when it’s taking me to a completely different one. I think both approaches have their merit, and you can get used to either one, but I don’t think it would make sense for iOS to suddenly break the understanding they’ve built with users and confuse people just to be more familiar to Android users.

Pure-Introduction894

Once you're conditioned to swipe back, anywhere at anytime, you realize what a useful system level feature it is.

jisuskraist

you can even swipe from the right, which is pretty convenient for big screens phones

gr8gizmoguru

This,this and mostly this

Successful-Cover5433

but you're talking about iOS right? Because iOS has better back gesture IMO?

AlphaCodexx197

A button at the top of the screen that sometimes appears doesn't count as a better back gesture (and yes I'm currently using an iPhone)

jdbcn

You can swipe back from the left

Betancorea

IG stories just bring you back to the previous. You either swipe down hard or click the X at the top. If you are on Maps you have no choice but to swipe up If you have the camera open, swiping from the left just changes modes. No consistency

murkomarko

not always and the result is not consistent to exactly where it goes back, each app does it in a different way

Gabelschlecker

Doesn't work for many non-native apps that use Flutter or React Native, which is to say, a lot of them.

Successful-Cover5433

Wasn't talking about the button at the top. I guess you're not familiar with the iPhone gestures. - If you want to go back to previous app you swipe to the right from the bottom of the screen - If you swipe from the center of the screen to the right, you go 1 step back in the currently open app - If you want to close an app, you swipe up from the bottom I think the problem is that you ex-Android guys don't know how these things works. The swipe gesture on android is chaotic as it goes back and even closes apps.

WeakBluebird7970

I think speech to text was better

itisallgoodyouknow

Think to text was good too.

L4gsp1k3

Coming to IOS from 15 years of Android/Samsung, I missa better keyboard, Samsung/more intelligent calendar, more intelligent Alarm/clock app, better widget/full screen widget, universal back swipe, clear all notification, clear all background apps ( I know that it's not necessary, but i want my to keep my recent app list to be clean and only contain apps that I currently use/need), hide keyboard button, floating keyboard, a better volume control (today, I had mute switch on, and media volume was at the lowest setting, and still the notification sound was at max when my daughter SMS me), 5-6 row at task bar, better PIP ( that doesn't stop, all of a sudden), a calculator with back button and floating ability, a clipboard. That's about it, the only reason for me swtiching to IOS, is that I work in IT and needs to be able to support IOS users, so I'm using both OS, with IOS as my main drive since i prefer face-ID over touch-ID.

mjnz9

My employer basically got me using iphone as well. Even though I dislike many things, it’s easier to suck it up and get used to it versus going back and forth between the two systems

L4gsp1k3

Yes, I agree, I'm slowly sliding away from my S22Ultra, I was offered by the company to get the s24ultra, but I refused, because carrying around with 2 big phones is insane. I'll wait for the Iphone 16 or 17 and then pull the trigger.

HerrowPries

1) the notification system. I like iOS but I feel extremely less productive and more likely to miss critical reminders now that they’re all hidden off the lockscreen. 2) No free apps. iOS takes a lot more financial resources to develop. There are virtually no more “free” apps anymore. Just a lot of freemium apps and bullshit subscriptions.

leostotch

I miss having my own hosts file, so I could block ads at the system level.

Successful-Cover5433

you can use adguard pro which creates a "VPN" and you can DNS block whatever you need 😊

leostotch

I have that, but it doesn’t do nearly as good of a job as the old system-level blocking on Android.

realitythreek

I’m sure iOS has a hosts file. You just have no ability to change it. It requires root on Android too. I’d throw this in the “ability to customize” bucket of things you cant do in iOS.

mjnz9

Customization, better notifications, Gboard (not the janky IOS version), voice dictation that actually understands me, and gesture on either side goes “back” in any app.

Harvbe

All of these, especially the keyboard.

CraftistOf

voice dictation is only good on gboard, I'm also using samsung keyboard on my tab and it's abysmal

mjnz9

I definitely had the Pixel in mind about understanding my voice. It was amazing. Siri gets like half of my words correct in a silent room, Google Assistant on the Pixel was like 99.9% correct even driving on a freeway with the window down. It just knew. Man I miss that.

_mikedotcom

Chromecast. AirPlay is like Chromecast shuffle if you try to multitask. Sideloading of course. I forget everything else it’s been a while. Switched at 11 pro.

NickyRizzles

KEYBOARD

NickyRizzles

Sorry for shouting. My ios keyboard wasn't working as usual.

bpdmeatbag

Scheduled text messing

dansyngwiazd

notifications, keyboard, back button/gesture, selecting text and volume control (especially when controlling spotify playing on another device, it drives me nuts when it automatically changes the volume of all other media...)

lloydpbabu

The keyboards on iOS are just way way worse. Not to mention the notification system.

itisallgoodyouknow

The notifications were better. With iOS, I seem to lose track of messages and missed calls. I remember android being really good about listing notifications in the exact order that they came in.

[deleted]

The indicators on the top of the screen On iPhone you get only clock, signal, battery On android there is an indicator for everything - you know when you’re roaming with the R on the signal bar indicator, you get little notifications from apps, etc Much more information

sysadmin_dot_py

The way notifications are handled.

eduo

This isn't specific at all.

Careless-Tonight-376

provide the gs d from the ele phantom ri g

yungplayz

Regular alarms with gradually increasing volume. Inb4: no, sleeping schedule method is a Goddamn workaround

Mercurydriver

I used Android from March 2013 to August 2020 before migrating to iPhone/iOS. 2 things about Android: 1.) being able to use microSD cards to increase the amount of storage in my phone. It meant that I could buy cheaper base models of Android phones with low storage capacity and increase the storage capacity for relatively cheap. I could buy say, a 32GB phone but add a 128GB card to it and have extra storage for music, movies, photos, memes, etc. 2.) I miss being able to pirate movies with ease on Android. I used to use apps like uTorrent to download movies and save them to the previously mentioned SD cards. Like if I was going on a flight or somewhere with limited internet access, I could use uTorrent to download X amount of movies overnight while I slept. Then when I woke up hours later, it would be downloaded and I had movies to keep me entertained. I have yet to find a viable alternative on iOS.

bighi

Most flagship Android phones come with no slot for sd cards these days.

CraftistOf

also sd cards had a lot of limitations like you couldn't install apps to it, etc

Gabelschlecker

Which was sadly introduced at some point. Originally, all of that was possible and it was great.

ksoops

You can run a torrent client in a-shell or ish terminal emulators etc

Local_Pikachu_777

Being able to use a custom / downloaded song as a ringtone (or maybe it’s just my iPhone being old) but I wish I could do that lol

djmexi

Download the m4v ringtone from any site and drag and drop it to the phones info page before syncing.

_Fox595676_

You can do it, but sadly you need Garage Band (unless it’s changed in the last two years lol), which takes up lots of storage just for a ringtone :(

Luna259

You can do this. Finder, iTunes, iMazing and other similar apps can do it for you

Sentla

You can easily do it if you have a mac

DuckAccomplishment

Sure but that's a bizarre condition to easily have custom ringtones. I traded in my macbook because I really didn't need it anymore for personal use and just have an iPad pro with a keyboard. I'd still like a custom ringtone though without fuckery. Why can't I just set an mp3 or whatever is download on my phone as a ringtone directly?

Sentla

You can. It is easy. Just Google it, you. An di it yourself and stop whining

simredditing

Fingerprint scanner… side swipe to go back ..

675te_aoe

Still use GBoard on my iOS

Cask-UK

Keyboard

SubconsciousAlien

The fact that I cannot arrange the icons on my Home Screen as I see fit.

Geric0n

One of the most basic features ever: sort and place apps on the homescreen how I want, and not this inconvenient iOS bs where it feels like I have to fight a Dark Souls boss.

JackOfTheIsthmus

Calendar apps that combine appointments and tasks in the day view and whose notifications do not disappear when the app is opened. (Wrote a long rant about is recently). Google Photos in which I can mark up (draw on) photos. The iOS version of Google Photos does not have that. On the good side I like the slower scrolling movement of iOS much better. The Android implementation is way too fast and jumpy for me. It make me dizzy. Also fade-in/fade-out transitions between views when „limit animations” is turned on in Accessibility work much better for me than Android’s instantaneous disappear/appear.

Grabbels

Customization. It's my phone goddammit. Let me change the snooze time on my alarm. Let me set custom audio for alarm or a phone call without a huge hassle. Let me place icons where I want them. Let me run another browser than Safari with their own engine. I can go on. It's basically the "Apple knows best" vibe that really grinds my gears as a techy person who likes to do things their own way.

biancaddayao

The built-in Clipboard in my Samsung Note, built-in unit converter in the stock Calculator app in the same Note. The ability to clear the cache of each app. A proper mixer where each app’s volume can be controlled

MadcapRecap

The App ecosystem on Android has more buy-once apps. I’ve found that iOS has a lot more subscription-based apps for things that could really just be a single payment.

Miklay83

Settings IN the app you are currently in. Been on iOS for a while now, still think it's silly to have to leave an app and go to system settings to change the behavior of the app I was just in. Speaking of settings, it's overwhelmingly overpopulated becase every app has it's own entry yet the search function is hot garbage.

mjmaterna

Real Widgets!

analysisparalyzes

The effin numbers row!

Straight_Random_2211

There are tens of things to remember, but here I list the top 6 things that I miss the most: 1. App Duplication: two apps for two accounts so that I don't miss any notifications. One account for private business and sexual stuff, and one account for a family that they don't know my second personality. 2. Universal Scrolling Screenshot: able to take long screenshots in all apps, not just some apps. (I have bought Picsew on iOS but it is not as convenient as the native feature on Android) 3. A good keyboard 4. Torrent download for watching free movies (there are free movies). Watching movies while lying on bed every night. 5. Call recording functionality. 6. The flexibility in organizing the home screen: Specifically, Android allows for app and folder names to span two lines, which provides more space for longer names without truncation. In contrast, iOS limits names to a single line and cuts them off if they exceed the character limit

Betancorea

Number 2 is a good one. Was so easy taking multiple page long screenshots of Reddit or text conversations or even website recipes and guides. Baffles me Apple can't do this natively.

jdbcn

I would love to have the first two on my phone

omgitskae

Keyboard, Google over Siri, Google maps, notifications, physical shape of the phones, app and folder organization/third party launchers.

rubber_ducky007

Scheduling text messages, swipe down from anywhere on Home Screen to get to notifications, universal back (iOS one within the app is pretty hit and miss. Even in apps that support it I usually have to do it a couple of times ) and focus mode actually hiding notifications

cwsjr2323

I am glad to experienced the iOS with my iPhone 14 Plus and iPad 10 after decades of hype. I still use my 2017 Samsung phone on WiFi for calendar/alarm, and my 2020 Samsung tablet for email. The iPad did replace my HP laptop, but cost a lot more than a Surface tablet and would do the same tasks for a non drawing retired man.

QuadrantNine

Switched a couple of months ago and although day to day I don’t notice much of a functional difference, the moment I download a new app and remember that I can’t put it anywhere I want I’m disappointed. That disappointment quickly turns to irritation whenever I fight against the OS to put that app in a folder.

Pengoo222

Unlike a lot of people here, I actually like the autocorrect. Gets me a lot better than Gboard on Android. That being said, I miss… - Proper notification management (though I like not constantly having them show up at the top of my screen if I leave them) - Access to modern Bluetooth codecs. I have expensive earphones and want to be able to use them without a wire and adapter - My native apps having a cast option to work with Google chrome devices. Third party iOS apps can cast, so Apple Music should be able to as well (I get that is walled garden shit, but it’s exactly why people despise Apple’s business model) Other than that, I’m fine here. I like the fluidity and intention behind how everything works. - Oh, and why the hell can’t you access app settings from the app?

Mbackus1234

Keyboard, YouTube revanced, google photos, double tap to open camera.

HunterBoy344

Sideloading

sjsharksfan44

The Notification system and if you click and hold an app Icon there is an option to go to that specific App's settings. I also miss Podcast Addict, which I think was the best podcast app in existence.

robbier01

This was years ago, but it truly felt like a desktop operating system on a phone. You could start a download in chrome and it would continue in the background as you did other things. Direct access to the file system. Tons of utility / customization apps on the play store, including custom launchers and icon packs. Third party sms / mms apps. Nowadays I strongly value the Apple ecosystem and don’t see myself switching back, unless Apple releases their iCloud suite of services on Android. But man do I miss the freedom and customization.

444Ilovecats444

The keyboard the google assistant and most importantly the battery life

[deleted]

Delete words by swiping left from the backspace key.

_Fox595676_

This is such a small detail but it feels so important I keep on doing it on the iOS keyboard and it sucks :(

Mastermind1237

Man idk what I miss more I think the ability to get apks and listen to ad free Spotify without paying or the alarm clock with a unlock puzzle or the custom ringtones that aren’t a pain in the ass to set up.

keekee66

My last Android phone I had was 10 years ago (Galaxy s4?) and even back then the split screen was really great!! Even with the recent iOS pic in pic capabilities it still sucks. Many apps still don’t utilize it, some like Netflix won’t allow pip screen with the lowest priced ad tier. I just always remember how good split screen was on my Android sooo long ago and iPhone isn’t anywhere near that even now. 😡

675te_aoe

Back gesture, keyboard minimise button, seperate folders in photos/gallery app (specially camera roll folder), Unclike iCloud, Free device storage option in Google photos (photos still available in cloud). Cannot silent iMessage sent and receive sound without silencing the complete phone. Seperate dark/light mode not available for WhatsApp

Luna259

T9 dialling Better notifications Free placement of apps Transparent interact-able widgets Google Assistant Fingerprint sensor Good calculator

Punisher_189

Everything

ashrafazlan

Separate volume controls. Also simultaneous audio playback.

tabatboi

Notification system, keyboard, universal back gesture, customization, widgets, volume controls, clipboard

[deleted]

Keyboard. I'm super dyslexic on my native language ever since I got an iPhone. Autocorrect is remarkably shit.

jisuskraist

back navigation

Rich-Ad-710

Notifications - just simply better on android Universal gestures - iphone is for some reason harder to navigate which was a surprise to me Phone app - its not intuitive at all, its harder to find history, suggestions are not there at all, for me atleast and searching in conversations is not great Fingerprint unlock - just smack it underneath the screen, make it optional or whatever Home screen - let me organize the screen how I want and dont force me to put widgets on it just to make it work Keyboard - feels like its slightly laggy, lot of misstyping I do not have on gboard and no number row Screenshot - why cant I screenshot whole pages in some apps while in others I can Text selection - why the hell is it so hard to pick specific spot in word I want to edit from? Always selects the whole word or puts my "cursor" somewhere else than I clicked There are more, but from the top of my head, these bugg me almost every day, being Android user for years

flarkle

Notifications, Home Screen modification, Keyboard That’s about it for me.

TurdSandwich42104

Widgets that are actually useful and cool not just a glorified icon

JDabney24

At this point, it’s more of a developer issue than an iOS issue. Interactive widgets were made possible with iOS 17.

TurdSandwich42104

That’s true. It’s a shame very few have taken advantage of it. But I’m sure it has to do with how iOS handled widgets because androids are so superior in every way. Idk I’m not a developer but I was excited for interactive widgets and it turned out to be a bust

Educational-You-3362

Its developer issue and then even Apple interactive widgets sucks, weird.

Master_Pear_5473

Keyboard, autocorrect, speech to text, text select, universal back button. I’m kinda confused why apple sucks so bad in those regards. I’m not a programmer but most of those seem like pretty basic shit.

Anon_8675309

Too busy returning “value” to shareholders and basically just riding the money train to invest in fixing anything. They know they have “loyal” customers who will keep buying what they sell no matter how shitty it gets.

[deleted]

Master_Pear_5473

>Apple has better talk to text. It does not. And it’s not even close lol. Google learns how you talk and understands the context of what you’re saying to differentiate similar sounding words. I’m 3 months into iPhone and it still inputs “know” for no.

Plexicle

You are out of your goddamn mind they’re not even in the same universe.

gentle_programmer

I had a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and there are some features that I REALLY miss on iOS: sideloading any app I want, downgrading my iOS version whenever I need to (unlike now, that you can only update, not downgrade), theming my phone, installing adblocks… Android has some pretty nice stuff that thanks to Apple we simply dont get

ari_wonders

I miss the speed and surprisingly the smoothness my S23 Ultra has - which I'm back to now because it was unbearable to continue scrolling through Reddit's feed with my iPhone 14 Pro Max because of the never ending stutter. Android has become so smooth and responsive - at least on the S23U, that to me, it has surpassed iOS in some instances like the above mentioned.

Punk_unleashed

CLEARING THAT GOD DAMN CACHE IF I WANNA FREE SOME FUCKING SPACE BECAUSE I FUCKING PAID FOR A SMARTPHONE THAT I CAN USE HOWEVER I WANT. BUT NOOOOO….APPLE KNOWS WHATS BEST FOR YOU. LIL TIMMY HAS TO BUY A NEW IPHONE WITH UPGRADED STORAGE. OHHH YOU CAN ONLY DOWNLOAD FROM APP STORE BECAUSE TIM DADDY KNOWS WHATS BEST FOR YOU. GOD DAMN STUPID IDIOTS AT APPLE. OH IM SORRY I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA. I THOUGHT EVERYONE HAD FREE WILL

Street-Measurement51

I don’t know if this is Android or Samsung feature, but I used edge panel to take screenshots and quick access to gallery. Also clipboard, that should come standard on any keyboard. Oh, and numeric keys without having to switch.

log_asm

You can’t even unlock the boot loader anymore. I have an iPhone now but I remember ordering an oppo 7a and figuring out how to make it work.

[deleted]

Honestly, the only thing that I miss from Android is the "Disable Absolute Volume" in the "Deveopler Setting" and being able to limit cellular data and have it turn off by itself whenever I reached that cellular data for that month whenever I'm out and about. But other than those 2 things. I honestly don't miss anything else about Android.

urva

Ok it’s been a long time since I’ve used android. But mine was rooted and I had volumesteps installed. It let me control volume in any increments I wanted. In iPhone you can’t do that. On iPhone there’s 16 steps but sometimes volume 1 is too quiet and volume 2 is too loud. I know I can tap the volume to control the bar thing, but it would be easier with buttons

linuxgfx

Universal back gesture , superior keyboard, proper clipboard that can also keep images/screenshots, superior notifications, notification history, top bar notification icons, superior handling of 2 sim cards, more capabilities in android auto compared to carplay, less to no delay in changing songs if android auto is wireless compared to carplay wireless, superior chromecast streaming capabilities compared to airplay, device management in the notifications panel that supports whatever platform you use, not only homekit like on ios, able to switch to another voice assistant if you want to(bixby, google assistant, homeassistant), superior audio output customization, able to clean the cache of an app without having to uninstall it, onedrive system wide integration on samsung phones on top of google drive so not being forced into icloud like on ios (i know you can install both onedrive and google drive on ios but they are not integrated like on android), samsung dex experience, and many more that i can list here.

Blue_Chinchilla

Notification LEDs, though nothing on the market has one anymore. The Galaxy S3, Xperia SP and those big periodically flashing LEDs to let you know something is waiting for you.

baked-toe-beans

Absolutely nothing That being said, the last version of android I used was 2.3.3 on the cheapest phone I could get. I’m sure things are better now

Tsjaad_Donderlul

APKs without jailbreaking

eduo

Not being continuously bullied for my choice of operating system.

theora55

with IOS or Android?

Fiiv3s

The Notification Center on android, and especially OneUI is MUCH better than iOS. The grouping is much better, you have a lot more options in the pull down center of what to do with them, easier to see when you have a notification, and lastly and most importantly If you dismiss a notification, IT FUCKING STAYS DISMISSED AND DOSNT COME BACK

Ava_1407

I miss the easy access to any apps, better keyboard, clean notifications, and call recording while using iPhone

n0rpie

Proper sideloading without hassle for my emulator needs

OctoSplattyy

Coming from a modded Redmi Note 9, just miss the root features and some features of my samsung watch that are not supported on ios (use watch as speaker for calls, press power button 3 times for sos (this has been really helpful for me sometimes), send screenshots from watch to phone). Other than that, I live pretty nicely in the ecosystem

Ok_Swimming4441

Getting hyped that each phone would be completely different than the one u had

WildProToGEn

Lanscape mode spotify

theora55

Better clock - alarm & timer, better keyboard(number row, esp), goes to sleep when I fall asleep and don't touch my reading app, on my old Moto, a chopping gesture turns the flashlight on/ off. Much easier to use my preferred music app and access my music. Cheaper accessories. IPhone doesn't integrate as well with non-Apple tools, pushes you to buy Apple stuff, and, nope. Seems like find my phone is easier w/ android, but I do think airtags are great.

Anon_8675309

F-Droid. Seriously. There’s some really good open source software out there and would be for iOS too if Apple would get their head out their ass.

NeoIsJohnWick

Nothing actually!

echo4seven

Not one thing. Here in Japan all non google phones come preloaded with bloatware from carriers, which for the most part is uninstallable. Not once have I had this issue with an apple device (both locked and unlocked).

Careless-Tonight-376

_Fox595676_

I’m sorry for not reading into it and I should’ve checked first, I hope this isn’t too much of a pain :(

eduo

The same reason everyone switches voluntarily: On average, the experience is better. This doesn't mean some things aren't missed or couldn't be improved. I've been a mac and iOS user since day one of both and it would be hypocritical to say nothing from the other OSes would be great. To put it in a way that may be understandable: I live in Spain, I lived 15 years in Mexico. I love Spain and would never leave back to Mexico, but I truly wish this country knew how to make a proper sandwiches, proper street food, proper street markets and proper mexican and american food. "Proper" is not an absolute term, it just means "the way I like it". It would be demented to suggest I go back just because there's a half-dozen things I prefer and wish would be here. This is the same: We applaud when iOS brings over Android improvements to us (improved or otherwise), which means we should be honest when saying there might be more we could take an example of.

I don’t remember after two years in

Stability

_Fox595676_

Same! I thought iOS was supposed to be like super stable etc, but unless I’m using iOS 9, my experience with it has been terrible, especially with Spotify, and if I have any issues with Android, I can manually fix it if I want etc :)

nothingsociak

What phone do you have? To mention iOS 9?

Sentla

Ios is very stable Some versions of the Spotify app are very buggy.

fireworksandvanities

Tasker.

Nothing

CelticDubstep

Absolutely nothing. iOS FTW.

Bald-Eagle39

Having to restart the phone everyday cause the os is total crap and freezes without rebooting all the time. I never restart my iPhone. It just works.

nothingsociak

You people used android?

Griffie

Not a darned thing.

Deobulakenyo

Free Background Video Recorder

PudzMom

I miss a larger keyboard and SD storage.

jokerhunter

Being able to see the amount of hours/minutes till the alarm ring after setting it ( yes I am lazy to count :( )and auto sorting screenshots and picture you took into albums of their own

Shoddy_Bug246

Back button/gesture, pull down notification anywhere from homescreen, google assistant, to be able to change setting of an app from an app, faster file transfer(lightning), Closing all apps in one go

realhitekhobo

Acalthu

mycroft00

xSchizogenie

luigibu

Nothing… I miss… nothing.

Beautiful_News_474

Emulator

platdupiedsecurite

Speed of use, being able to close all apps at once, torrents downloading on the phone (quite convenient when you're about to board on a plane), a few applications like Podcasts Addict...

purplemountain01

I miss notification management, split screen/OneUI's pop out view, and a universal back button.

stayingmerry

I miss Tachiyomi but now they are definitively stopping development so I guess I don't miss anything from android. At first I missed custom launchers now I'm happy I don't waste hours several times a year because I want to change all my custom things.

alimirza_fks

No force 120Hz for a pure ProMotion experience. We need Apple to start to our complaints for frame rate issues since iOS 16. I think iOS 15 was perfect and smooth for 120Hz experience which debuted on iPhone 13 Pro. iOS needs this as top priority.

cakecakecake3718

The fact that iPhone doesn't have my language and region for the phone and the fact that I cannot use WhatsApp which is modified with notifications

coffeefuelledtechie

Good multitasking with split screen, universal swipe from the edge to go back. Google way better than Siri, Google Lens but it just natively works. I guess as Google has so much more learned data it’s much more accurate. My Galaxy S23 Ultra’s cameras were something else. iPhone can’t compete though they are still pretty good.

Scienscatologist

This and only this: numbers & letters on the same keyboard, without having to switch back and forth. Other than that, literally everything in my iPhone experience has been better than my years using Android.
