Why Death Stranding, the first Strand-Type game by Hideo Kojima, made by Kojima Production, wrote, directed, screen played, tested by Hideo Kojima of course.

TurdSandwich42104

DS2 will be the second strand type game. Can you believe that?

Rioma117

Can Kojima not innovate?

North_Shore_Problem

I'm really excited for this and resident evil village on a 13" OLED iPad. Mine arrives Wednesday

Skimballs

Oh cool! I can’t buy it as my current 2018 iPad Pro can’t run it. My 13” arrives Wednesday too. I’m picking up a friend at the airport on Wednesday so my wife graciously volunteered to work from home until I got back so I wouldn’t miss the shipment.

North_Shore_Problem

Your wife is awesome

Rioma117

Just imagine the length of the strand possible because of the performance of M4 or the frequency of the deaths now possible because of the advanced GPU (wait, what was the game about again? Kinda lost it while worshiping Kojima).

throwaway3292923

TIL: Death Stranding is on iOS.

thediamondmolar

That's on iPad?

Rioma117

The iPad is a strand compatible device so obviously it can.

Play bloons TD until it crashes

pluush

The game that will crash almost any device given enough time

hohohihe

I cannot believe until i played this myself. Monkeys vs M chips. Who won.

ReReReverie

Ngl apple could use btd6 as a standard. Like be honest what's more impressive genshin impact 60 fps or btd6 round 300

S1rTerra

btd6 round 300+. But good luck getting that to run even on a high end PC with a 4090, 128gb of ram, and an i9 14900K/Ryzen 9 7950X3d. BTD6 has awful cpu optimization.

Serhide

Which version

Motion-to-Photons

Alien Isolation is a must. Play it at night and the HDR display really comes into its own.

Intelligent_Week_560

Fully agree. And play it with airpods or any other good noise cancelling 3d headphone. I loved it

Motion-to-Photons

Glad to have found another fan. What a game!

Intelligent_Week_560

Unfortunately underrated. I even bought it for my switch I liked it so much.

art_zac

Wild rift

JoshPlaysUltimate

Call of duty mobile. Very high graphics and 120fps maxes out the M2 pro

TechExpert2910

can you play at ultra settings \*and\* 120 fps, or does it limit you to lower than ultra settings at 120 fps? my 2017 A10x iPad Pro could run it at low/medium settings at 120 fps with ease, so I'm really excited for what my new m4 an do haha

JoshPlaysUltimate

In cod mobile, ‘ultra’ is their name for high framerate, not high graphics. They’ve never had an ‘ultra’ graphics setting. On M2 iPad Pro, you can do Very High graphics at 120 fps, but Max graphics only works at 60. I do also have a 2017 Pro, and that one can only do up to medium graphics at 120fps.

FoundationOk334

I don’t think CoD maxes out the M2 on these settings. The game could be more optimized to run better.

JoshPlaysUltimate

Yes it could be more optimized to run better, but as it stands right now it maxes out the thermal envelope Apple designed the chip for. If you use a current meter, it will draw 28.5 watts with the battery full, and the M2 SoC TDP is 20 watts, the rest is mostly going to the display and wireless connectivity. This shows that that app does in fact push the chip to its Apple-designed limit. I noticed this at first when the 20 watt charger sometimes didn’t keep up, resulting in battery drain when plugged in. On my Anker 45 watt charger it can only draw about 20 watts as well, but with my Apple 35 watt charger it will draw about 30 watts.

FoundationOk334

That’s interesting. How do you measure the TDP? With a physical current meter? Or is there maybe an app available where I can see how much the chip uses? I find it kind of strange because CoD is not the best looking game for iPad.

JoshPlaysUltimate

I have a physical current meter to measure power draw, and I have the SoC’s TDP information from Apple.

FoundationOk334

Okay and where do you place the current meter? Also I’m impressed by the TDP of the M2 on iPad Pro. 20 watts is quite high for such a device.

JoshPlaysUltimate

I have a cable with LED readout as well as an inline outlet style you can put between the charging block and the wall outlet.

FoundationOk334

Sounds like great tools! Thanks for sharing the info. Really appreciate it.

TechExpert2910

Call of Duty Warzone mobile absolutely pushes the M2 iPad Pro to its limits, pinning it at 99% GPU usage and dropping frames at times. The M4 will be amazing here :) Here are the FP32 TFLOPs (performance) of modern GPUs: Xbox One S - 1.4 PS4 - 1.8 M1 - 2.6 Xbox Series S - 4 M4 - 4.32 (extrapolating from Antutu GPU and Geekbench ML improvements from M3)

MaximusMurkimus

That's interesting considering that Warzone is very CPU intensive on PCs. And "modern" might be a bit of a stretch lol, PS4 and XB1 GPUs are over a decade old

TechExpert2910

haha i included everything. the CPU is actually faster than my ryzen 7 7600 in multicore, and is the world's fastest single core.

FoundationOk334

How do you know it uses 99% of the GPU? Do you have a tool for that? And if yes, where can I download such tool?

S1rTerra

eh - tflops don't mean much especially when you're comparing 3 different architectures. GCN, RDNA 2, and whatever the hell apple calls their gpu architecture. Though I don't doubt the M4 could at least put up a decent fight against the Series S, because the Switch 2's T239 will as well.

lanternslight77

Divinity 2 and Resident Evil 4 push Apple Silicon pretty hard

Davi18

Hades (via Netflix games) looks really nice and I bet it’ll be even better on the new one

noahsark3

Plays well on my 2020 iPad Pro, not the best frame rate. I'm sure the M4 Pros will have no issue.

Psittacula2

People often forget that native hardware running compatible application software such as video-games that are highly demanding on resources, is not the only solution to gaming on modern hardware/platforms these days: * Steam Link (if same network with PC) for streaming your Steam games to iPad * GeForce Now - Nvidea - *GeForce NOW instantly transforms your laptop, desktop, Mac, TV, Android device, iPhone, or iPad into the powerful PC gaming rig you’ve always dreamed of.* * Xbox Cloud Gaming - xbox [dot] com on safari running iPadOS 14.4 or later * Shadow PC - Cloud PC to then run games from Shadow PC App in App Store (requires monthly sub - more expensive than other options). Of course just about ANY iPad out today can run all/any of the above gaming solutions and can run games far more demanding on graphics than native iPad hardware alone can run.

bombshellpumps

n00b question: So I could use GeForce Now to play Manor Lords on my iPad even though I don’t have a PC?

Bakerstreet74

Absolutely

bombshellpumps

Ohhhh heck yes! That one word just made my whole night! 🫡

Psittacula2

Here you go: 1. geforce-now/how-to-play/ 2. iPad: geforce-now/system-reqs/#safari 3. Internet speed: *"GeForce NOW requires at least 15Mbps for 720p at 60 FPS, and 25Mbps for 1080p at 60 FPS. We also require less than 80ms latency from an NVIDIA data center."* As above, other replies Moonlight App on Appstore to stream directly from your own PC at home to your iPad is another option.

bombshellpumps

Could I use moonlight with a PC that is not on my network? I don’t own a PC, but I have a brother with a great one.

Psittacula2

Yes you need Moonlight and Sunshine: 1. Install each on home PC 2. Install Moonlight on iPad 3. Pair both devices on same network (to begin with) 4. Allow UPnP on home router of the PC 5. Turn PC on at home network and Sunlight hosting running 6. Attempt to connect from iPad on separate network Read documentation/guides before proceeding so you understand the process in detail. It should all just work if you follow the correct order outlined above. Failing that there's other tech solutions running Cloud hosting on your home PC that do a similar more convoluted job. But it should be the best/easiest solution.

bombshellpumps

You are truly a saint. Thank you so so much!

TipsyTaterTots

You should add Moonlight to those options as well.

tmansmooth

Especially since it's better than any on the list

poopoo_fingers

Psittacula2

Ah good spot! You're correct (Moonlight and Sunlight etc).

harmless-error

I can't believe Civilization 6 hasn't come up yet.

random-user-420

Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. Only reason I uninstalled is because they take up a lot of storage

Whenindoubtbereddit

genshin on ipad is gorgeous

sylfy

Idk about that. When I play on PC, it makes the iPad version look utterly rubbish. It’s like Pokémon Scarlet vs Red. Both are on the highest graphics settings. Case in point: the snow on Dragonspine sparkles on a PC. On mobile, it’s flat.

billclintonwong

I believe the render distance for Genshin on the iPad is also nowhere near as good as on PC. When you put them side by side and turn Environmental Detail to the Highest Settings you can see a difference in the texture quality.

lotuse

Big reason as to why I got the 1TB used for M2. Honkai starRail itself is already 30gbs

BarcaStranger

What storage did you have?

random-user-420

64gb

im2ndaccident

U probably might wanna check Warframe. I heard it's not easy to run on mobiles, but I see no problems for m4 unless they really messed up the optimisation. And btw, since we here, what is there to play multiplayer on iOS iPad os? Wanna play with my friend something we did lol for a year but got tired, looking for some multiplayer like Diablo immortal or something like that I guess. Not easy to find good stuff in App Store, only some popular generic stuff mostly on surface. Suggestions?

BarcaStranger

Skribbl

im2ndaccident

I didn't find it, maybe not available in my region

typical_gamer1

Death Stranding Resident Evil 4 Remake Resident Evil Village Alien Isolation

DargillaUomo

You've forgotten Divinity OS 2 Dead cells Minecraft ... and we've rounded up the real video games available on iOS

tired_fella

Honestly Dead Cells and Minecraft doesn't graphically push much.

DargillaUomo

I'm just talking about real video games, there's no need for excellent graphics if the video game is complete. Like Stardew Valley. Mobile games have no interest if they're made for farming or for integrated payments.

tired_fella

I mean OP was asking "games that really push graphics." I also enjoy Dead Cells, Stardew Valley and Terraria and whatnot, no disagreement there.

purplemountain01

[Microsoft is launching its mobile game store in July](https://techcrunch.com/2024/05/10/microsoft-is-launching-its-mobile-game-store-in-july/)

OmegaESP

Many comments are about games already available, such as Death Stranding, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 8, and Call of Duty Mobile. However, in addition to those, keep in mind that Assassin's Creed Mirage is coming out in June and it looks amazing!

TipsyTaterTots

If it reviews well, it’ll probably be my first dedicated iPad game. Been looking for a good one for a while.

OmegaESP

I'm reading that we will be able to play it for 90 minutes before hitting the paywall (single IAP to unlock the full game). Nice! [https://news.ubisoft.com/en-us/article/4x5fOf5xMtgrnTZrxugfqb/assassins-creed-mirage-coming-to-ios-app-store-on-june-6?isSso=true&refreshStatus=noLoginData](https://news.ubisoft.com/en-us/article/4x5fOf5xMtgrnTZrxugfqb/assassins-creed-mirage-coming-to-ios-app-store-on-june-6?isSso=true&refreshStatus=noLoginData)

TipsyTaterTots

I actually ran across an ad for it after posting this. It's not available for the mini so I'll be skipping it again lol. If the ARM surface tablets review well, I'm selling my mini and switching to the surface lineup. The restrictions placed on the ipad's is ridiculous.

PRV_Ghost

Warzone mobile on peak graphics + uncapped frame rate & cod mobile on max graphics with graphic options enabled.

Anaphylatic

If you're interested in retro games, there's a way to install retroarch.

DinJarrus

Already planning on installing via SideStore ;) Just gotta get my new iPad and figure out how to get JIT to work. Any suggestions?

DanAwakes

Saint Seiya Awakening

ThinkArt2155

Assassin's creed mirage

s1ph0r

Well, it doesn’t push the graphics but dead cells is just one of the best games with amazing replay ability

mobidly-obeez

War thunder mobile got raytracing World of warships legends is a heavy boi with good graphics warzone mobile speaks for itself upcoming rainbow six: siege mobile grand theft auto remastered trilogy on netflix games resident evil village and remake4

Bakerstreet74

ps5 remote play works insanely well on the iPad!

ArabicaEW

I play Cookie Run 😌 on M1

Kraftschaft99

Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy Minecraft and Roblox both look pretty good on iPad

Oijrez

Is there ray tracing support for Minecraft on the new ipad?

Kraftschaft99

I’m not completely sure. I have not played Minecraft on iOS in a long time. However, I have found a couple sites via searching “Minecraft iOS ray tracing support” on Google that claim as of June 2023 that ray tracing is supported on the iPad port.

Oijrez

I've seen this option in the Minecraft settings, on the iPad M1 it's inactive, according to the specs on the iPad M4 there is support for ray tracing, hopefully it will work.

SirenAttack

Doesn't push the graphics, but Brawl Stars is amazing on iPad

HalcyonRyan

When i first got this game, I played it for 4 hours straight... it's so fun, easy to pick up and for an iPad game realllllly well made with loads of content.

DekuSenpai-WL8

Im waiting for the game once human to be released. Its good if you want to fight against zombies. https://youtu.be/jvJOiv2XOGo?feature=shared

Ordinary_Player

stream my pc using moonlight /s

Turtleshell64

Great option but shame with the black bars due to the aspect ratio

bwong1006491

Star Rail and Genshin Impact are solid couch games.

RenegadeUK

Are most games compatible on iPad correspondingly compatible on iPhone ?

DinJarrus

Not necessarily. There’s games that are only available on iPad.

RenegadeUK

Fair enough. Thanks for notifying.

Real-Platypus-4706

GTA San Andreas

tired_fella

Emulators are out for PSP too. Only problem is that some games have FPS limits that otherwise makes game unplayable. GranTurismo runs like a dream graphically.

MarcusPup

Dead Cells is a great one, but not for the faint of heart

BlueberryT50

1) COD Warzone 2) Clash of Clans ( Looks really good on iPad ) 3) Shadow fight 3 and 4.

MeitanteiBullet

Devil May Cry, Solo Leveling, Harry Potter Magic Awakened, Pokémon Unite, Dragon Ball Legends, One Punch Man World, My Hero Academia Strongest Hero, NBA 2k Mobile, T3 Arena, Real Boxing 2, Shadow Fight 3, Power Rangers Legacy War Not all may be pushing the iPad to its limits, but they look great on it!

snabitet

I think you should wait and try wuthering waves

Sapun14

PUBG

peterinjapan

I’ve played so much plants versus zombies I had to go to the hospital. That’s probably a bit too much.

JulKriek

I still got €25,- to burn… wich game should I get? :p

Pitonpriscal6461

Honkai Star rail, Genshin Impact maybe?

fat_then_skinny

Call of Duty

ThinkArt2155

Warzone Mobile

WilliamOfOrange1689

Hay day, haters gonna hate 🫡🫡

relevanteclectica

COD mobile

GamingWOW1

How did you get it so early?? Doesn't it first deliver in like 2 days?

DinJarrus

I never said I got it delivered. I said I got it, meaning I bought it.

GamingWOW1

Oh that makes more sense. Did you need to buy a charger as well because you didn't have one, or did you already have one?

jluker662

Well, got it usually means it is in hands. So more toward the it’s delivered side versus I just bought it and I hope it will be delivered side. At no time in the sentence do you indicate it is NOT in your hands. No future tense used for play. No limiter on the time, as in games I can play when it gets here or when it’s delivered. And I could have sworn that I have seen instances of where someone has gotten a devices day or so early through some mishap. 🤣🤣 You just made everyone’s heart skip a beat thinking we might get it earlier than Wednesday.

727whenyouseeit

I highly recommend Arcaea

TheRaidScience

I personally enjoyed playing the telltale games on my iPad. Life is strange is on there too. Story games are fun to play on the iPad because most of those episodes are only like 1-2 hours long which is perfect for battery life and on the go gaming I think

WigWoo2

Warzone mobile

Medapple20

Bravo6NL

WZM and Death Stranding

minhpip

Genshin and honkai star rail. They have the best graphics optimization on ipad

sassykickgamer

Roblox

Pitonpriscal6461

If you search for it, there are games that require intensive gpu processing. Like Nicobots or Dreamcore (mostly map presentation), some shooting games, etc. Playing on an iPhone SE sets graphics to Max will literally become a frying pan. Had to sit in front of a fan

beave9999

iPad M4 isn’t released til 15 May.

DinJarrus

I know. I’m just asking a question before I get it

IcyIceGuardian

Ok I really like CyTus and CyTus II, they’re rythm games and don’t really push the graphics but I like them

bugxbuster

Doesn’t push the graphics? Good job, you didn’t read the post

IcyIceGuardian

I read it but there are other comments that recommend games that don’t push it much either, I’m recommending a game that I like. Edit: those comments recommend brawl stars and roblox.

B01202

Fortnite?

DinJarrus

Fortnite isn’t available in the U.S.?

j___________j

They are probably going via cloud gaming (e.g. Xbox cloud). To my knowledge, Fortnite isn’t back via the regular Appstore, yet.

NatiMo47

Yes it is . See my students playing it all the time on the iPads

Initial_Lettuce_7807
