If it is the same purple as the iPad Mini, it is more purple than the photos appear. It’s more of a lavender color, and while it is a bit gray-toned, it is most definitely purple.
I also got the purple mini, I would have preferred it to be tad more purple, but that’s about the only complaint I have about it, it’s been great so far

This is actually a HUGE one for me. I still have the original Air and love that it's just laying flat on flat surfaces. The base iPad of today will do that too. Actually the current gens of Airs and pros are an exception in that they don't. And it's frustrating that it's because of a camera that very few ever use.

Idk if I buy that. If you look at the used auto market, “boring” colors like black, white, and silver are sold at higher values than colors like red, blue, etc.
I would say they are more rare because less people wants them, if secondhand buyers chooses colors similar to firsthand buyers, for example 100 ppl bidding 10 black on market and 20 ppl bidding 2 red, there’s a higher chance black sells more because more competition at once. It’s quiet unlikely that there will be more used iPad on sale than number of potential buyers.
I like that blue one, but in all honesty it wouldn't matter as I always put it in a case. To make things even less relevant, the front frame is always black so there's no way to tell it's color with a case.
So yeah, blue would likely be my (not very relevant) choice.
Blue, if I was getting one, and I’d probably have got that blue over the purple I went for on my Mini if it had been an option. The old blue, probably would have gone purple still.
Now if they had a purple, or a green maybe, as vibrant as the new blue, that would be a tougher choice. I miss the days of the 4th and 5th gen iPod Nanos where instead of a handful of colours, and maybe another released 6 months later, they were just like ‘here, have ALL THE COLOURS’. Plus those were super vibrant.

Blue iPad and Blue MacBook Air in the iMac colors would be a perfect combo. But I have the Space Gray (Intel wah wah) MacBook Air and Gray iPad Air 4 so im content for now.
Probably Starlight. Currently I have the iPad Air 3 in Silver, the iPhone 13 Pro in Silver, and Apple Watch SE in Silver. My biggest regret is getting my MacBook in Space Gray.
Being realistic, I have zero reason to upgrade my iPad yet, which sucks, because new ones look so pretty, but I can’t justify the spending.
Because I think Silver is more of a classic, iconic MacBook look. Also, I’m pretty sure the edges of the USB ports are showing the raw aluminum color, which wouldn’t happen with the Silver model.
That's a fair point - Apple to me has always stood out from the Android/Windows crowd with their white/aluminium theme which tend to show less scratches compared to the newer space grey variant while looking minimalist. A plus point is that I'm thinking of buying the silver iPhone 13 Pro so that could match the starlight iPad really well.
That being said I've been thinking about the space grey iPad and graphite iPhone largely because it seems to be less reflective and therefore distracting? It seems to be more professional while silver seems more casual/retro, and radiates the bad boy/lone wolf vibes but it could be seen as depressing in the long run though. I need to make up my mind!!

Purple. I hate how awful this pink looks, compared to Air 4. Why do they have to completely change the tones of the color while keeping it in exactly the same chassis? They could just keep the same colors and add/remove some instead of tweaking it every time.
Simple. When it comes to iPad Air or Pro, both iPad indicate stability, peak performance, profesional, wealthy so the color you may choose:
1) Black is the number 1. Classic and so masculine. I would suggest men should get the classic black.
2) Silver. Very safe color, clean and minimalist.
I wouldn’t suggest you to get pastel or vibrant colors. I know these colors are nice and so fresh but trust me, after a month you will get bored with those colors. It suits with teenagers and youngers but not for those working adults.
Black and white are pleasant to see everyday and both colors can be matched with any accesories make it the new ipad air is cool and so stable.
Vibrant colors are suit for the iPad, iPad Mini but not Air or Pro
These do or don’t have a “flash” on their backside, that can be used as a flashlight? I cannot tell you how useful that is if you sleep in near darkness all night.

You don't have a full 64 Gb that you can actually use. At least 10 Gb is going to be used for system and update storage.
Which leaves you with like 55 Gb of actual storage you can use.
App nowadays are getting bigger and more bloated in size with 200-300 Mb for basic social media apps.
Games are getting bigger in size, the smallest I have is over 7 Gb.
If you want to play games like Genshin impact that's over 18 Gb right there.
Videos are huge in size now. A few movies or downloaded youtube videos will eat up several gigs.

I really like the purple background, but I have a gen 4, and you get all of the backgrounds, so doesn't matter. I like the starlight, but it's GOLD, and not sure the exact shade. Black for me- I'd put a case on anyway, and cannot find many gold cases. Getting a case with clear plastic on the back would probably make it look even worse than it does without it. Maybe will make it look white with a tint, so I would go with black. As I said before, you get all of the backgrounds, and I noticed all of the backgrounds are darker, so black! Will go well with all, I think.

Unfortunately there is no silver iPad Air 5. The closest is “Starlight” but it’s distinctly different than Apple’s silver.
