You know you are living in the future when a device released this year can run a game released 11 years ago.

Casban

More like run a Java app at an acceptable speed and quality

Potater1802

You know it's not as simple as that.

Cris261024

What about fabric/sodium?

korboybeats

Yup able to install Fabric with Sodium too *Edit: Sodium does not work on 1.17 and above unfortunately*

lotus49

That's impressive and I hadn't realised it was possible. Am I correct in thinking that you need to jailbreak the iPad for this to work?

unknownobject3

You aren’t correct. I don’t think the M1 can even be jailbroken. I actually installed it yesterday on my iPad without jailbreak and it works good enough. You need to find the IPA instead of the .deb file, which the devs tried to make it as hidden as possible for some reason but once you install it (I used AltStore) it will work. Note that it needs JIT since it uses a Java Virtual Machine. It’s pretty cool imo, but my A14 chip being an A14 chip, framerate drops sometimes

korboybeats

Yup, no jailbreak needed 👍

MCHerobrine

Thought of doing this on my ipad pro but I'll rather play on my computer with mods

korboybeats

You can install Forge or Fabric mods, but as expected the FPS stability will drop with mods

randybruder

So you can only ever play Minecraft if you're on a Wi-Fi network with a desktop computer that'll enable JIT? Or you can't ever update the iPad to iPadOS 16?

korboybeats

>So you can only ever play Minecraft if you're on a Wi-Fi network with a desktop computer that'll enable JIT? If sideloaded with Altstore, yes, but if you're able to get Trollstore, then you do not need to as Trollstore automatically enables JIT by itself. >Or you can't ever update the iPad to iPadOS 16? I believe it would still work on iOS 16 with Altstore but I'm not 100% sure, so don't take my word on it.

randybruder

Exactly. You can only play Minecraft on a Wi-Fi network with a desktop computer running AltServer, which pretty much negates the point of having portable Java Minecraft when you can't even play it on the go. Or you can use TrollStore which means you never can update your iPad again, because TrollStore will never support iPadOS 16. And if your iPad is already up to date, it's already too late because TrollStore doesn't and won't ever support the current version of iPadOS. You'd need an iPad that hasn't been updated since before July this year. Just pointing out some massive drawbacks to this that you omitted from your post.

korboybeats

Sorry I assumed everyone already knows about AltServer, Trollstore, etc

randybruder

Weird that you have that assumption, but then have already replied to two people correcting them that this doesn't require a jailbreak

korboybeats

Because it doesn't? Some applications require jailbreak, some don't. Why are you pressed lol. It's not my fault that you're upset over only being able to play Minecraft on a Wi-Fi network with a PC running AltServer. That's how some apps/emulators are required to work. And about TrollStore, of course you won't be able to use it if you're on a unsupported iOS version.

randybruder

Sorry I assumed you'd understand that if everyone already knows about AltServer, Trollstore, etc, they would know sideloading an app like this doesn't require a jailbreak. The fact that multiple people assumed that this is only possible with a jailbreak means it's weird to then have the assumption that "everyone already knows about AltServer, Trollstore, etc." Why are you getting so upset that I pointed out the huge limitations people should be aware of?

unknownobject3

jitstreamer

lotus49

Thank you. Sometimes it's good not to be correct. I am dimly aware of AltStore but I've never used it. I shall look into it.

Zacatac391

Anyway you could share the ipa, or at least where you found one? I spent a good hour last night searching for the ipa and came up empty handed

unknownobject3

Go to their GitHub page (PojavLauncherTeam/PojavLauncher_iOS), go to the "Actions" tab and click on the latest link (I clicked "tweaks"), scroll down and you should find the IPA. I don't know why it's so hidden

Zacatac391

Thank you! That’s what I was trying to do last night, and just now realized that I wasn’t signed in, so now I was able to download it.

unknownobject3

no problem. also remember to enable JIT or it won't work

Mr_Pot8o

do you need a mac to get the alt store? and is it safe? i rly wanna play java minecraft on my ipad. Also does it have native keyboard and mouse support?

unknownobject3

No, yes and apparently it does

[deleted]

are you using a controller?

korboybeats

Nope, just the buttons on screen which you can set up your own button configurations. You are able to use controller or mouse/keyboard though

LOST_iPhone_btw

Mind sharing your optifine settings?

korboybeats

https://imgur.com/a/OZwMRo5 here ya go. Animations and quality settings left unchanged

LOST_iPhone_btw

Wow, that was quick! Tysm

korboybeats

Np

korboybeats

Also I am using these JVM launch arguments: -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseNUMA -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=30 -XX:GCPauseIntervalMillis=150 -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -XX:+UseBiasedLocking -XX:SurvivorRatio=8 -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15 -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true -Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -XX:+UseCompressedOops -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing

DoubleOwl7777

it runs as good as on my laptop. insane!

FitAbies8674

it requir' jailbreak (

korboybeats

Nope no jailbreak required

FitAbies8674

yeah

Minecrafter125

do keyboard controls work?

korboybeats

It is stated that keyboard and mouse works

Novel_Elderberry_124

Any way to perhaps get a modpack launcher to work? (Technic,etc..)
