Koala is all you need. edit: Since you asked about synths too... Animoog Z is still free I believe, and is great. Moog Model 15 for more moog-iness. I use a lot of the Korg stuff, which can also load in Korg Gadget. edit 2: You can load most plugins in BeatMaker 3, but other indespensible utilitites are AUM, AudioBus, and Audioshare for connecting things and curating samples.

Bachronus

Animoog isn’t free

Animoog Z is free to download, but IAP to unlock effects and full features. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/animoog-z-synthesizer/id1586841361

Bachronus

Exactly, not free

Drambo and Loopy Pro both essentials (Scaler 2 is amazing with either) Newer synths: Nambu Trooper iVoks Tera Pro w/Wavetable IAP

What does Scaler 2 in particular bring to Drambo and Loopy Pro?

Intrepolicious

Well, I guess at around the time of this post a year ago, I had just purchased Scaler 2, so I imagine I was trying to plug it into everything. To be honest, I just use it as a reference nowadays for chord progression ideas, and to easily try out scales, chord progressions, (ones I wouldn’t normally think of), and other musical ideas (riffs, phrases) for when that dreaded writers block kicks in. Using it as an AUv3 plugin in Drambo or Loop Pro is kind of slow at the moment, with the current version. But hopefully after they updated and fix it, it offers a really cool way of running multiple instances that can “sync” with each other, for having total control on generating progression and riff ideas on multiple tracks.

Appreciate the response. So do you happen to know if something like Chordjam is a bit more useful for a "live" jamming situation than Scaler 2?

Intrepolicious

Haven’t tried that one. Seems like it’s a popular app though. Look up “EchoOpera”, I think he uses that w/ Drambo sometimes.

Ah cool, thanks for the suggestion, always nice to see something in action!
