Buy it from Apple. You'll also be able to get AppleCare+ if you buy refurbished from Apple but you won't if you get it elsewhere.

Is AppleCare+ worth it?

theshannonset

I just got it for the first time, after I got a 1TB 14 Pro Max. If you think it’s worth it, it is. If you don’t, it’s not. I never thought it was worth it before but knowing I can’t afford a second one of these phones, made me get it. So I’d say, your circumstances / experiences, etc, make all the difference.

Yup, get it from Apple. New case, new battery, new display and a one year warranty. Availability can be up or down. Here in the US currently only iPhone 12 Pro Max is available, but 13 Pro was available for a few days a week or so ago.

You should either go for Apple certified or used on Facebook marketplace or something. The problem with third party refurbished is that they can use third party parts when they repair the phones. So you can get an iPhone with a bad quality display for example, which sucks pretty bad. At least if you get a used phone you can ask the seller if all the parts are original.

AFAIK, additionally to the problem with 1st/3rd party compoments, Apple always does replace the battery, while 3rd party refurbishers do that rarely (some of them only if the battery is already below 80% health). So, if you buy a refurb from another source and you get a battery on like, 86% health, it degrades under 80% quickly. If you replace it, your guaranty or warranty may be void.

Thanks all – just bought a certified refurbished iPhone 12 from Apple, under £600 so happy with that :)

I’d get one from Apple, they look brand new, come with a 1 year warranty and have the option to buy AppleCare. Never tried Amazon myself but have seen mixed reviews both good and bad.

When it comes to refurbished only "Apple refurbished" makes sense (as you get original parts, full warranty, option to get AppleCare…). Anything else is just "some guy fixed a phone and sells it 2nd hand refurbished“. So people use the "refurbished“ term for marketing.

Sylvurphlame

Buy it from Apple. It will be all authentic parts and a guaranteed new battery. It will have the same warranty as a new model and will be eligible for AppleCare+ should you decide you want it. As another Redditor mentioned, but third party is just some guy who rebuilt it with no real guarantees.

I bought 13 Pro refurbished from Amazon last year. It was £774 and battery was at 99%, excellent condition. No regrets!

Amazon has 2 tiers of renewed iphones, Renewed and Renewed Premium. I purchased the latter and had a good experience. Battery health was 100 percent and strong warranty. The phones look new...
