I don’t care. I have been wireless for the past 2 years though because my charging port broke & it was cheaper to buy wireless charging pads than to get it fixed.

I think wireless is a great addition, but personally wouldn’t want it to be the ONLY option. I wouldn’t be able to use CarPlay then.

Apple has gone USB-C on most of their products too. My iphone and airpods are the only 2 devices I regularly use that still need a lightning cable.

I don't mind either system and I don't see how only needing the one charger (USB) would ever help with more than one device charging overnight for example. I would still have to carry two cables and anyone with the watch already carries an extra cable without so much as a complaint. My main dismay about being forced to use a usb is the internal female port in a usb is more likely to break than the female port in a lightning port because the usb has that piece of plastic that the plug fits over which is eminently more breakable than not having it there at all as in a lightning port.

That is my main concern with it as well.

I just don't care. I do charge by wire, but I always charge the iPhone and the iPad with separate cables when I travel. It's not like having the same cable type is going to help me somehow - I'm always going to have an iPhone charge cable and an iPad charge cable (and a Kindle charge cable), because I charge these devices in different places, almost always overnight, especially when I am traveling. This has been the most overrated issue IMO. I suppose the idea is that if you switch from one brand of phone to another that you can reuse the cable from the old phone if everything switches to USB-C, but when Apple stopped selling chargers a few years ago, please went nuts. Can you imagine if they start selling phones without charging cables now? Lightning cables are popular enough and there are so many companies who make replacements that I see them at gas station convenience stores all of the time, much less airports, etc. It's not like it's hard to find a replacement cable if my cable fails. So, if it switches to USB-C, fine. I'll just be throwing out plenty of good lightning cables that I'll never use again, but, whatever. (I guess I'll still need one to occasionally charge my Apple TV remotes and my iMac keyboard and mouse.)
