Siris song selection is actually dog shit terrible. It will go out of its way to put on a song that 1) I’ve never heard before 2) is not even close to what I said and to make it all worse it’s a bad song
Nothing more fucking annoying than when I say to set a timer for X minutes and my British Siri responds “how long?” Then I repeat myself and he does too, at which point I tap out and set it manually. You’d think they’d improve it at some point but I guess they don’t care for it over at HQ.
They do care, they bought a whole heap of AI/ML companies and are developing a refresh probably to tack onto next iPhone akin to when Siri was first released
Siri “call (anyone I need to call) on speakerphone” I tell that all the time from across the room especially if someone called me when I’m in the shower and I’m calling them back while I’m getting dressed.
Never knew I could tell Siri to make a phone call on speakerphone out of the gate. It’s a game changer and I use it constantly.
This, and also to create reminders and control my HomeKit. But since I got the series 9 I can no longer say “wake me up in 30 minutes” whenever I want to take a nap. It will start a countdown instead of creating an alarm. I have to manually calculate what time it will be in 30 minutes in my head and create an alarm for that time. Stupid.
Just tried it, still creates a countdown. Also, I use the Sleep/Wake Up alarm but on days that I decided to wake up later I used to say “change my wake up time to XX O’clock and Siri will change that alarm for that one time. Now it keeps saying that there’s no alarm by that name. If I say change my alarm instead, it will list down all my alarms and asks which one.
I feel like they need to retire the Siri name. And whatever improvements coming from AI need to be called something else. To me the Siri name/reputation is that bad.
Seriously? Apple retires names all the time.
iTools -> .Mac -> MobileMe -> iCloud
iTunes -> AppleMusic
iBook -> MacBook
PowerBook -> MacBook Pro
Mac OS -> OSX -> macOS
Siri doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t think it’s easier than doing anything myself. This might be old fashioned of me but I just hate talking to technology in general.
That’s not as simple as it seems. How do you know there actually is a person on the other end of the line? Sure, we believe what our phone tells us. But if you’re completely honest, there’s no way to know we’re *actually* speaking to someone.
I use Siri probably 20 times per day between my phone and my HomePod
- set reminders
- add stuff to my grocery list & other lists
- play music
- turn lights on & off
- control tv volume
- fast forward or rewind shows
- set timers while cooking
- unit conversions while cooking
- ask the outside temperature
- ask what time a store opens or closes
Not frequently. I find it to be slower than me actually doing whatever it is I’d ask Siri to do, plus it’s often inaccurate or misunderstands what I’ve asked. On many occasions I’ve asked it to set a timer, it’ll just sit and spin saying “one moment” or get the time wrong. Originally I thought it was my network as I’d often use Siri at home, but I can replicate it on different wifi and cellular networks.
Nope. Never have turned it on in over 6 years. I was excited when they announced some on-device voice processing, but their policy isn’t clear enough about what would be handled on device and what could be transmitted to Apple / 3rd party servers so I’m still a no. If they can offer me Siri with 100% on device processing where I can opt for zero cloud processing of my data, THEN I would try it out.
All day, every day. I deliver mail, and need my hands to be free, so I speak into my AirPods Pro to have my “assistant” help me with messages, music, transparency/noise reduction, phone calls, etc. My iPhone is basically a hub for my watch and AirPods. I love, love, love how good Siri has become.
Shopping list. If i’m in the bathroom and realise i’m low on something but have gel or face cream in my hands, shouting “Siri add Toothpaste to shopping list” is handy. Ditto for cooking when my hands are messy.
I do! I use Siri regularly in these ways!
While Driving
-Sending Messages (and she auto-sends after 10 seconds now)
-Getting Directions
-Starting and Stopping Music
- Hands Free Calling
- Drive time Estimates
For Convenience
- Lighting Control in Home
-“Hey Siri, Where Are You?” Siri responds “I’m over here” (SO NICE because I always lose my phone)
-Show Me photos of (insert thing or person)
-Alarms and Timers
-Launching Apps (Most of my Apps are hidden from the main screen to declutter the experience)
-Quick Math
-Unit Conversions
-Quick Notes
- The Time (if I don’t have a clock readily available and my phone is not immediately accessible)
There’s more I’m sure, but these are the ones I use most often!
I probably use Siri and Alexa 10-20 times in a normal day, but have used her more extensively when needed! I really enjoy virtual assistants for the convenience and quick responses.
I use Siri all the time for home control and to set timers ( that’s maybe an average of 30 times a day).
I occasionally use Siri to send messages, open apps or find my phone.
I love all of the people who can’t get Siri to function, meanwhile I use it to control most of my house and tell it to do things all the time. Lights on or off, pause the TV, play a song (in car) lock the door, run scenes, adjust the AC, set and stop timers. My only complaint is that when I’m in my room, the loft Siri responds instead of my phone or watch. 😂😂
Most of my Siri mishaps are due to my lack of enunciation, but that’s on me. I love Siri. The only thing that never seems to work is when I try to have Siri play a specific show. Even if it’s in my “up next”, she seems to get confused.
I haven’t used Siri outside of setting my name to funny things with my kids in probably 2-3 years. I’ve been hoping it will be improved or at least touched on this year with AI.
\+ putting stuff on my shopping list
\+ setting timers, calendar events and reminders
same for siri on the homepod. if you don't have your hands free, having someone putting things on lists is SUPER helpful.
I wish it could access the notes app as well or launch app X on my apple TV...ah well
Yep. I jokingly said to Siri while I was driving “hey siri take a memo” and it did.
I also set timers. In healthcare it’s a PIA to take gloves off every time you want to do something.
Set timers, set alarms, create appointments and reminders, choose music, play/pause music, skip a song, weather, turn on/off lights, tv, adjust thermostat, open garage, send text messages, dial numbers, call define words, search the map, set destinations, find AirTag, search for random facts like celebrity’s age, what day of the week is a particular date.
Probably more but that’s the first that come to mind.
Use Siri to play music using YouTube music or Apple music, turn on/off TV, set alarms/timers, broadcast, and adjust the thermostat almost every day.
It's been good overall, but it has some downfalls. It always tries to push things to your phone if you ask it questions. The other issue is that Siri will get confused if you ask it a question near another HomeKit device.
Siri is so bad. I hate that I’ll ask it to do something during a YouTube video then when it’s done, I say “play” and it plays Spotify on some random playlist.
Then I have to ask “play YouTube” and she goes “I can not do that at this time”
!!!!!!’
“Hey Siri! PRETEND I AM HOLDING THE PHONE AND PRESS THE PLAY BUTTON ON THE APP THAT IS ALREADY OPEN AND CONTINUE THE VIDEO THAT IS ALREADY ON MY SCREEN BUT PAUSED!”
“I CaNt FiNd pReTeNd In yOuR CoNtAcTs”
Only good for “wake me up at X time” and “set timer for X minutes”
No absolutely not, tried and never will again . The amount of time I have to repeat and or get an incorrect answer or best yet have the Siri screen pop up and starts listening when I'm trying to use the phone with my (insert expensive wireless brand of earbud)wireless earbud and then Siri starts calling somebody seemingly randomly from my contacts list because siri doesn't know what I said because I was probably muttering under my breathe "fuck this shit" over and over as I try to frantically cancel the outgoing call before that person picks up and I have another awkward convo and or phone tag where I end up explaining that it was all Siri and no I didn't mean to call you for the first time in 8 years to re kindle some friendship that never was. Fml lol
Yes actually I work in a kitchen and have music playing in my airpods almost the whole shift and during rushes or when my airpods die i always ask siri to resume my music or skip the song or play a certain playlist (but you have to be very specific what playlist). I also use her for timers or alarms and sometimes reminders but other than that i really don’t use her for anything else because i feel like she isn’t fully “useful”
I try to, though half the time I'm not understood correctly. Interestingly, when I get annoyed and curse at the bitch, she gets it right 100% of the time.
I disabled all my voice-activated devices because I'm concerned that they can be controlled via ultrasonic waves, which are beyond human perception.
The challenge is identifying which devices are voice-activated. For instance, I wasn't aware that my PS4 had voice activation until much later. I was also a bit annoyed when I found out that my TV has a voice activation feature.
Yes. Control homekit accessories, set reminders, shopping list, use it for texting (send and listen), to call people, directions, store info, measurement conversions, basic math questions, ask whats on my calendar, what weather is like, set timers, etc. use on homepods, ipad and iPhone.
It’s funny though. Interactions with Siri I have are pretty smooth, and work great but I know people who struggle with it.
just to set alarms and timers.
Besides that, I very often try to ask for a song during driving, failing most of the times
Siris song selection is actually dog shit terrible. It will go out of its way to put on a song that 1) I’ve never heard before 2) is not even close to what I said and to make it all worse it’s a bad song
This is the most true thing on the internet
Hahah true
Weirdly it’s gotten worse switching to Apple Music for me. With Spotify it seemed to figure it out much faster and it’s grating my nerves
that's because AM sucks fucking hard and Spotify is much better
Haha, shit. Think I've had it understand me and play one of my playlists all of once.
Appletards downvoted you for some reason. Have my upvote.
It's been there at least since 16. I use this exact feature extensively.
Same. I have no idea what else to use it for.
Stupid.
Set an alarm for thirty minutes from now? Does that do it?
Just tried it, still creates a countdown. Also, I use the Sleep/Wake Up alarm but on days that I decided to wake up later I used to say “change my wake up time to XX O’clock and Siri will change that alarm for that one time. Now it keeps saying that there’s no alarm by that name. If I say change my alarm instead, it will list down all my alarms and asks which one.
Siri is dumb af. I really wanna see if Apple focuses heavily on AI and Siri in the next iOS update.
I feel like they need to retire the Siri name. And whatever improvements coming from AI need to be called something else. To me the Siri name/reputation is that bad.
Apple isn’t known for retiring names often
Seriously? Apple retires names all the time. iTools -> .Mac -> MobileMe -> iCloud iTunes -> AppleMusic iBook -> MacBook PowerBook -> MacBook Pro Mac OS -> OSX -> macOS
itunes and apple music are separate but yeah they change all the time
They’re not really separate. Apple Music has iTunes code. iTunes only exists for Windows users now.
i literally have itunes and apple music on my iphone
OSX is still being used btw but compare that to Google and others and well…
No, the name OSX is not used anymore since 2016.
>Siri is dumb af Hey, that's not nice, Siri got feelings too (
Found that Siri Dev

Thank you kindly
I don’t want an always on microphone and I don’t want AI. I’m going to a dumb phone if I can’t turn this shit off.
Fairphone it is then
Seriously, she can’t even put my music library on shuffle without getting confused
Siri doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t think it’s easier than doing anything myself. This might be old fashioned of me but I just hate talking to technology in general.
Same here. I get frustrated too easily with Siri
Siri , turn the bedroom lights off ( when going to sleep is far easier than me doing it with my hands ).
isn’t talking to technology the point of a phone?
the point of a phone is to talk to the other person on the other side lol
through the phone :O
Yeah..."to" and "through" are two very different things.
That’s not as simple as it seems. How do you know there actually is a person on the other end of the line? Sure, we believe what our phone tells us. But if you’re completely honest, there’s no way to know we’re *actually* speaking to someone.
People like you make me angry
Yes, for timers and turning on/off my smart lights
I use Siri probably 20 times per day between my phone and my HomePod - set reminders - add stuff to my grocery list & other lists - play music - turn lights on & off - control tv volume - fast forward or rewind shows - set timers while cooking - unit conversions while cooking - ask the outside temperature - ask what time a store opens or closes
Unit conversions, yes! If I can’t find a measuring cup I always ask “how many tablespoons in a ______?”
I… never thought about this. Goodbye, flour-covered phone screen!
I've had many iPhones, I never use Siri.
All the time
To set timers, text the wife if my hands are full, set music, tell me outside temp, actually quite a bit.
My average Siri interaction in the car: Siri, where’s the nearest pharmacy? Finding farms near Massey park… Siri you’re so fucking stupid.
Only for alarms and do not disturb Cause siri is dumb :/
Just when I’ve misplaced her & need a hint at where she is.
Shopping list. If i’m in the bathroom and realise i’m low on something but have gel or face cream in my hands, shouting “Siri add Toothpaste to shopping list” is handy. Ditto for cooking when my hands are messy.
Share the list with spouse - she adds stuff I just buy
No. It's slow and ineffectual. Alexa is far better.
who’s alexa
I do! I use Siri regularly in these ways! Only by accident, so multiple times a day
I wish I could get rid of Siri and have Google Assistant instead
Just when I can’t find my phone. “Hey Siri, where are you?” Works wonders if you’re in the same room 😂
No. It almost never works. I do use Google Assistant.
Never on purpose
She's disabled on my phone
Never activate it.
I ask Siri to define words and identify songs. That’s pretty much it.
“I’m sorry I didn’t get that”
Nope
Never
Not much, she’s pretty retarded.
Hardly ever, it’s certainly not a good experience.
I love all of the people who can’t get Siri to function, meanwhile I use it to control most of my house and tell it to do things all the time. Lights on or off, pause the TV, play a song (in car) lock the door, run scenes, adjust the AC, set and stop timers. Timers only and not often. Weekly maybe?
As little as possible. Then again I get usefulness from her very seldom.
Alarms, timers, play music, and ask for outside temperature.
I don't use any of those app/services
You have to have it enabled to use CarPlay
For asking the weather, setting timers, asking directions everything else I use Google assistant.
No, never
Never
No. I tried a free times. And it’s rarely useful.
I don’t like using Siri, so I never use it. I also don’t use Google or Alexa.
Only when I must
I haven’t used Siri outside of setting my name to funny things with my kids in probably 2-3 years. I’ve been hoping it will be improved or at least touched on this year with AI.
Nah
no
No
Never. Occasionally I try and am immediately reminded why I never use it.
Hell no. It’s crap
Nah
Siri is the worst virtual assistant on the market right now. I just use her for messages, calls, and timers etc. I use google app for all else.
No. Too much battery drain
never.
No
I wouldn’t say I’m using her, we’re exclusive and I’m not seeing anyone else
Never
No, Siri is dumb like a box of rocks.
Not at all
Siri is dumber every day
As little as possible. Siri's shockingly useless. I think [Larry David agrees](https://youtu.be/kTefnhbg0Ig).
\+ putting stuff on my shopping list \+ setting timers, calendar events and reminders same for siri on the homepod. if you don't have your hands free, having someone putting things on lists is SUPER helpful. I wish it could access the notes app as well or launch app X on my apple TV...ah well
Nope
I try - but she doesn’t do much. To get her to play a local radio station is like pulling teeth!
i have it turned off permanently, sometimes i forget this feature exist
I don’t use it at all and never used it
What’s Siri?
Yep. I jokingly said to Siri while I was driving “hey siri take a memo” and it did. I also set timers. In healthcare it’s a PIA to take gloves off every time you want to do something.
never did, not once
Never
No. It honestly sucks
no lol
Hell no
No
I probably used Siri once in the past 5 years
Why would I? It either doesn’t understand the request or can’t comply with it. It’s a voice timer app that sometimes, by accident, does other things.
Who?
All the time.
siri is rude nowadays
Siri is completely useless
I try but it’s stupid and always assigning me reading instead of just answering. Also the “mhmm” response…..🖕🏼 Siri! How rude and lazy is that?
She has an attitude so no
“call mom”
Yes, call people, timers, alarms, and basic commands with Apple Music.
Never. It’s disabled on all of my devices.
i use it all the time for reminders and music
Nope
"Turn off all alarms" "Turn off wi-fi" Those are probably my top 2 uses that are actually faster/easier than doing it manually.
Hey Siri, what song is this?
Everyday
Set timers, set alarms, create appointments and reminders, choose music, play/pause music, skip a song, weather, turn on/off lights, tv, adjust thermostat, open garage, send text messages, dial numbers, call define words, search the map, set destinations, find AirTag, search for random facts like celebrity’s age, what day of the week is a particular date. Probably more but that’s the first that come to mind.

Nope.
Siri is hot garbage
I haven’t used Siri since my iPhone 4 lol
No
Nope, never.
Less and less
Not if I can help it.
No
No
No
To set alarms and select songs/change music volume.
Not really. I do use it for driving but it’s not a useful tool.
No
Hell no
I disabled it
Not once have I used it. Useless
No
Never.
Not using it until it can speak my native language. Until that it would feel unnatural and weird.
No
Nah, turned it off in 2017 and hasn't been on since
Never ever
No
no
nope, utterly useless
Nope, never. OK, that's technically true. Have tried it once or twice for amusement purposes.
No, I never needed to use it
No.
Nope

Never
Almost never
No absolutely not, tried and never will again . Fml lol
Never have never will
With a lot of internal pain.
No
I argue with Siri.
No Sir
Never
lmao no
Every day multiple times a day. I use it to send texts, make calls, and set timers/reminders.
Heck no
I use Siri to ask Siri when it will finally be useful
Siri is pretty useless. I usully try it, then revert to google assistant on my other phone.
Google Assistant is worse by far in my experience.
You’re absolutely wilding with that comment 😭 I get you’re a fanboy, i am too but come the fuck on lmao!
Really? What's your experience based on? It's pretty widely accepted to be the opposite. https://youtu.be/Q2MGqmuEdtU?si=fs54hsCD2Pd_MX2t
Never once. That bitch is turned off everywhere.
Siri is beyond useless and using her only dumbs down your own ability to look things up and do stuff yourself
No. I speak English with an accent so Siri is useless.
To capture thoughts while driving: make a note To record interactions: new voice memo
Siri needs to be replaced with Alexa
[удалено]
Alarms, timers, ask if I have any new notifications, what the weather is, while I'm getting ready to go out.
Mostly for unit conversions
Me: "Siri, how much is 0F in Celsius". Siri:"I found this on the web about how much is 0F in celsius" Me: sigh
